Training Camp News; And Ring Of Honor Day Is Made Official

Thou Shalt Not Snooze On Bucs Fans

That’s what the sign reads in the kitchen at JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters.

And Joe was not snoozing today when Buccaneers chief operating officer Brian Ford joined Rock Riley (@RealRockRiley) on 1040 AM.

Ford declared that the Bucs-Steelers game in Tampa on Monday, Sept. 24, will include the team inducting its newest member of the Buccaneers Ring of Honor. Ford wouldn’t drop a name. But as Joe wrote this morning, look for Father Dungy to get his turn.

As for training camp, Ford confirmed that fans will be accessing seating in the Bucs’ seven-month-old indoor training facility at One Buc Palace this summer. Details are being finalized on specific days, Ford said, but it is a done deal; you’ll be able watch parts of practice indoors.

Joe is fired up for fans to be able to bounce in between the indoor facility and the adjacent practice field. That would be very cool — and more comfortable.

Heck, even if the indoor facility is just open for fans to cool off, watch cheerleader practices, Bucs highlights, and get autographs from a Bucs legend or two, that would be a win.

$20 all-you-can-eat buffet kicks off at 6 p.m. and runs all night long. Be there!!

  2. Gman Says:

Great…40,000 Steeler fans will be able to honor Tony Dungy.

  3. Gman Says:

Should have put in Ronde during the Eagles game.

    ^^^Agreed Gman

they should only be allowed to practice in the indoor if its raining…..that’s it….last thing this team needs is to feel like they’re better than what they are…..

have they a$$ practicing at 1pm when its blazing hot…..that’s how you build metal toughness….make them work for that indoor time…..

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!!

  7. John5 Says:

I guess for an autograph from Desean Jackson you have to pay $60 and $15 for an inscription (check his Instagram for details this Saturday if you’re interested). That guaranteed 20 million must not be paying the bills well enough for him to spend some time in the TB community signing autographs without charging ridiculous rates.

  8. Jason Mclaurin Says:

I like the fact we now finally have an indoor facility to practice at to eliminate the down time from the rainy days and the late practices to avoid the heat. I think the players will benefit from this mentally because the practice will be over and our players are not waiting all day to practice like it usually is. I think the practices will be more physical as well.

  9. Chrisco4Bucs Says:

GMC will go in the ring in 2027

I don’t understand how James Wilder continues to be over looked and not put in the ring of honor.i think the owners need to watch some old bucs games,James Wilder was the bucs!it’s just a shame that he continues to be forgotten, what the hell is going on???

  11. Topdoggie Says:

As DB55 said in another post the bucs are going to be 11-5 this year. A top 5 offense and a top 20 D. Go bucs

Please Joe move the Dolman add it is always over the submit button.

Please Joe move the Dolman add it is always over the submit button.

Turn your screen sideways briefly and then back to normal position. Problem solve.

Plus, Joe’s not going to jam a long-time supporter of Joe. He helps keep things free of charge around here.

  14. Topdoggie Says:

    It worked thanks.

  15. JJBucfan Says:

Can we please also look at Dunn? Dude split carries with Alstott and they were awesome together. Love the Wilder idea, it’s a no brained. Soon we will have more freaking coaches than players for our team. WTF? What is Kiffin next? He should have been the one and only coach in all honesty. I wish the Bucs would do the fans a favor and go pure creamsicle orange for our color way games. At least all white with orange lettering and Bucco Bruce helmets. Please throw the old school fans like me a frickin’ bone, and I’m only 45 y.o.
We had as many good seasons in those unis as we have in this new style, who woulda guessed?

  16. JJBucfan Says:

    *brainer

Man after my own heart! I sat 2nd row 40 yrd line as a 10 yr old boy in ’76 and sat there for 20 yrs. Ironically my dad sold the tickets all four of them in ’96 when we hired Dungy. All of those yrs that he would complain about the Directv blackouts in local areas I would call him to torment him! 🙂

I was there for this one in my Senior yr with three of my buddies cause we sucked so bad my dad would just give me the tix and we would go to the games to drink beer and watch Hits. This one ended up being epic tho.

I wish there were a “like” button Joe. So I could click it for your last comment.

  20. AlteredEgo Says:

I saw everyone of James Wilders games in the Ole Sombrero…..I am not even going to try and describe how good he was….running and receiving…

  21. Bawlmerbuc Says:

Not sure if anyone else remembers this, but back in 1986, it was the 10th anniversary of the Bucs. Eckerd Drug Stores had a series of Bucs posters to commemorate the anniversary. Each week there was a new player poster. To this day, my James Wilder poster STILL hangs in the bedroom I grew up in. As does the Kevin House poster. House was good, but I remember thinking James Wilder was on par with Walter Payton! (By the way, I’ve long since moved of my mom’s house). 😉

  22. DanBucsFan Says:

Well deserved Dungy , if indeed he is the chosen one this year. Im sure Barber will soon follow and Wilder also should indeed have his day.

  23. StPeteBucsFan Says:

I agree Wilder should be the favorite next year for the ROH.

I’m curious…would you guys spend a 7th draft pick on him?

BBB knows where I’m going with this. LOL

  24. JJBucfan Says:

Yes, Balmer—Kevin House baby!! I used to dog sit for Cedrick Brown when I was a kid, he and his wife (Linda) may be the nicest people I have ever met. I met Kevin House, Richard Wood, Cecil Johnson and Gordon Jones to name a few. That is where my roots sprouted.

  25. StPeteBucsFan Says:

@SB and DB…enjoying our big holiday? It’s Friday night after all.

  26. Bawlmerbuc Says:

That is awesome JJ! Now those names are some blasts from the past!!! 😀

  27. CheeseMonger Says:

Steelers game? I’m guessing Terry Hanratty will finally get in the Ring of Honor.

  28. Lucious Selmon Says:

I’m one of the old-timers. I remember anticipating 1976 so we could watch home games. I’m with those calling for Wilder’s induction. If Rickey Bell hadn’t been ill, he may have had a chance to be one of the all-time Bucs. Of course no one knew at the time why his play tapered off.

I’m also in favor of honoring Hardy Nickerson. He came to a perennial loser as a free agent, and changed the culture here almost single-handedly through force of will. Perhaps our young draftees would have developed that culture on their own. Perhaps not. I think he is one of the most under-appreciated Bucs of all time.

  29. Calimike Says:

    Ring of honor= Paul Gruber

  30. Duke Says:

    Lucious,

Hardy should be inducted with Tony Dungy. The Coach and the player who changed the culture of the team.

  31. Lucious Selmon Says:

    Calimike and Duke:
    Yes and yes!

  32. Topdoggie Says:

There’s a reason Hardy was called the heart and soul of the defense. He changed the whole culture more than any coach could have.

  33. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Joe Says:
“Plus, Joe’s not going to jam a long-time supporter of Joe. He helps keep things free of charge around here. ”

Adding a paragraph break between them in the code would drop the add down only one line. It would not be noticeable. It can all be done in the wordpress built in editor. Would take 2 minutes if you want to do it.

  34. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Topdoggie Says:
“There’s a reason Hardy was called the heart and soul of the defense. ”

    That was Brooks.

  35. Gman Says:

    Gruber is already in….
