Ronde Barber Will Call The Round 2 Pick

April 6th, 2018

“Ronde, prepare yourself to be of no use again.”

Back in 2016, fans weren’t the only ones screwed when Tampa Bay traded up to select Roberto Aguayo in the second round of the NFL Draft.

Buccaneers icon Ronde Barber took it on the chin, too. He was there in Chicago to walk to the podium and announce the Bucs’ third-round pick. But there was no third-round pick, so Barber sort of had a wasted trip.

This month in Dallas, Barber will try again.

He was called on by the Bucs to announce Tampa Bay’s second-round pick at this year’s draft. The Bucs already dumped their third-round pick to the Giants for Jason Pierre-Paul.

Does this mean the Bucs are definitely picking the second round? Of course not.

Joe totally could see general manager Jason Licht panting and grabbing his phone to trade up if running backs Ronald Jones, II (Southern Cal) or Sony Michel (Georgia) are on the board when, say, the draft moves to the No. 31 overall pick.

I’d rather get a good pick and upset Ronde, then get a bad pick and make him feel warm and cozy…..don’t get me wrong i love Ronde but you get the picture….

  4. Lamarcus Says:

That’s if the Raiders don’t draft Ronde first. Gruden with his old players again.

Iā€™m fine with Jones or Sony. We need a back that can take one to the house.

That’s when they will take a CB.

At least one Joe always seems to wanting to spend extra picks to “move up” for some player or another – SMH

My hope is that we trade down in both rds 1 and 2 and wind up with like 6 or 7 of the top 100 players. We could fill all of our “needs” that way (RB, CB, SS, OG, OT, DL) with solid to good young prospects.

2nd rd and into the 3rd is the sweet spot of this draft class for a # of positions we have “needs” for – so I hope Ronde is a busy man on day 2 announcing at least 2 or 3 selections.

not going to happen. you may see some movement in placement as players are traded in addition. We could move a tight end and a flanker while moving up, but i do not see us moving back after the 7th pick

  10. Lord Cornelius Says:

Yeah I don’t really see us moving back in R2 unless there hasn’t been a run on RBs yet which I see as unlikely but possible.

We’d have to move from 38 to like 50 or the middle of R2; to pick up a mid or late R3 pick.

    Derriuce Guice
    Sony Michel
    Ronald Jones II
    Kerryon Johnson
    Rashaad Penny
    Nick Chubb

I’d imagine all those guys go R2 / early R3 at the latest. We could probably drop to 50 and get one; but it’s more likely we stay and take the guy of our choice.

That list above is also why I say F*ck trading up into R1 for a targeted RB. This class will have options at the top of R4 as well if we really want to wait; but the money spot seems to be R2 for both CB / RB.

A picture of the Bucs GM and GM-elect 2019….I like it. Looks like Licht already has his movie usher costume if a career change is afoot.

Exactly why I hope we trade down in rd 1 and acquire multiple picks.

Buffalo’s #22, #56, #59 and #96 gets them up to #7 and still leaves them the 12th overall (plus another 3rd if necessary) to move up to #2 (if the Giants are willing to trade down for 2 high 1sts). The math works in both cases.

In this scenario – the Bucs would get to draft 6 of the top 100 players in this draft. Including three 2nd rd picks.

    #22,#38,#53,#56,#96,#98

At least we have a kicker and a punter! LOL

We have a QB…a great WR/TE corps…won’t be drafting one of those.

Our LB’s seem to be in pretty good shape.

After that we just need to keep adding great players..a couple more DL…OL…RB…CB’s.

This should be a very interesting draft for us.
