Bucs Scoop Up D-II Guard

April 27th, 2018

“Violent.”

Bucs fans, you got your offensive lineman.

Lift a glass in celebration.

The Bucs stepped back into the Division-II ranks to draft Alexa Cappa from Humbolt State.

And Mike Mayock is hollering in the background how violent he is.

Joe has to confess he knows nothing of Cappa other than he has a worse mullet than Riley Bullough.

Fix the trenches fix the bucs cool beans

  2. JimmyJack Says:

    5-Run Homerun?

  3. Birdman Says:

There’s a chance he plays Tackle too Joe..
Every single year Licht has been in town he has drafted a player from the Senior Bowl. This year this guy was the D2 talk of the town, much like Ali Marpet was a few years ago.

  4. firethecannons Says:

Dude has serious attitude and finishes the play, Donovan Smith could stand to take a lesson, this dude is a good pick

  5. JimmyJack Says:

Lot of Marpet comparisons. We traded up for both players too.

  6. Buccfan37 Says:

Two long haired hippies picked by the Bucs. Far out man.

  7. BucfaninCa Says:

Great project. Had good Senior Bowl but was dominated by speed rushers. Is a project but really hope this guy pans out

  8. Bueller Says:

Did we really need to trade up for him? He would have been there 10 picks later. Hope he works out.

  9. BlogTalkFootball Says:

Should be able to run at will. Heck, even with Martin…lol.

Looking forward to seeing some smash mouth football in 2018!

this is Mayock talking about him at the senior bowl

  11. Thespiritof1976 Says:

Jeremy Trueblood but with the actual ability to play and without all of the stupid holding and personal foul calls.

  12. kenny Says:

nove him inside take sweezy spot

  13. JimmyJack Says:

This Oline needs some young blood.

  14. JimmyJack Says:

We added two Lineman both know for physicality. Gotta love that!!

  15. Rod Munch Says:

OK, I just reviewed the full combine numbers of this guy and Marpet and those comparing this guy to Marpet need to get a new comparison, they’re not even close. This guy is in the bottom 2/3rds of nearly every category, meanwhile Marpet was in the top 5 of nearly every category.

I don’t know about this pick, it’s fine to have that tape of you manhandling guys that look like high schoolers, but to make the huge NFL jump you need to have something special about you in terms of your workout. I do worry the Bucs thing they’re getting one over on everyone else because they did it with Marpet, but I don’t know, I hope it works out but I wouldn’t be cutting Sweezy anytime soon.

  16. Jeffbuc Says:

Bueller yes we did need to trade up for him that’s how you insure you get him. You have to have a gm with big balls that will go get his guy instead of playing it safe and hoping he falls to you. What if he would have got picked one pick before us. All because we didn’t want to trade a 6th round pick. Listening to joes favorite station nfl channel on Sirius all I have been hearing is ex gms talking about players they were one pick from having. If you want something be a man and go get don’t wait for it to come to you if it only takes a little risk of a 6th round pick. Not saying be all crazy like betterbuckinbelieveit was and saying trade are 1st,2nd, 4th, next years 1st, and mcoy for Barkley.

  17. Thespiritof1976 Says:

Rod spends too much time munching on garbage. It has corrupted his 2 watt lightbulb brain.

  18. Rod Munch Says:

    Thespiritof1976 <– triggered. LOL!

Sorry kiddo but being a blind homer is really really really boring.

  19. Joel Says:

You may need to Google what a mullet is.

  20. Eric Says:

    Humbolt State?

  21. Old School Nole Says:

His hair is pretty wild, but it’s not a mullet. Not even close.

  22. Rod Munch Says:

Joel – Correct, people that think having long hair is a mullet are just annoying.

People, a mullet is when you have long hair in the back and keep it short on the sides and top. Otherwise it’s just called having long hair.

  23. Thespiritof1976 Says:

Shaq Griffin tomorrow. The parrot. Witness bucs lore. And Rod probably thinks Alabama are the real national champions.

  24. Eric Says:

    The Jacks?

    Seriously?

  25. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

    Featherly-coiffed, not a short-long.

  26. JimmyJack Says:

Rod Gamefilm matters much more then combines.

  27. JabooBuc Says:

I with Munch a little bit on this one. I like the idea. We need OL help so he fills a need. However, he looks like a big project. He is not like Marpet in terms of his combine numbers and measurables. Not even really close.

So, not sure moving up for him was a great move. I did wonder if they might have been moving up to take Harrison at S from Alabama which went to Jax the pick before them.

  28. Rod Munch Says:

JimmyJack – Sometimes, but game film against what are basically high schoolers isn’t all that telling. I guess he had a good senior bowl week that certainly helps, I just don’t see him as a surefire hit like Marpet was. Marpet was special, his numbers were special, he had a special senior bowl week as well – he was being hyped a ton and was really showing people up at the senior bowl – and again went on to be a star at the combine. This kid isn’t that.

Not rooting against the kid or saying it’s a bust, just saying those penciling him in as a day one starter because Marpet did it… you all need to dial it back a few notches.

  29. DB55 Says:

Welp correct me if I’m wrong but I seen at least two holds on the tape nfln showed. But wtfdik, tough guys huh I think we should define tough.

  30. TampaTown Says:

News flash: Joe Dirt cut his hair. So sadly, now we have no mullets.
Yes, he cut it a long time ago. Perhaps it’s grown back?–Joe

  31. XpfcWintergreen2 Says:

I don’t care if he is not our starter on Day One!

If he is our starter before the end of the season, well then … 😜

    ____________
    Go Bucs!!!!

  32. Jason Mclaurin Says:

I’m thinking Sweezy already gone tomorrow morning probably but if we get a couple tackles for the offensive line tomorrow then we’re set to let Dotson walk as well. Sweezy should just take a buyout honestly but he could be great depth this season and cut for nothing next season. We brought back EDS too so I just really feel either Dotson or Sweezy is about to get cut either this offseason or at the end of the season. We gotta few more picks tomorrow though I think 4 more. Get two Tackles on the offensive line and another DT and DE with those picks. We got our DBs in the second round and we can get a RB as an UDFA like Ito Smith or Ryan Green.

  33. teacherman777 Says:

    @destinjohnny thx for the video

Humboldt county has the best herb in the world!

Ali Marpet and Alex Kappa- two gangster-a$$ hippies!!

    Licht is the man!!

  34. teacherman777 Says:

    Ade Aruna in the 4th!!!

And Shaqueem Griffin in the 5th!

And get a “red-flag” freak athlete in the 6th.

Get some studs who have “character issues” or who drop because of injured senior season.

6th and 7th round picks should be ONLY be great players who drop for weird reasons!

Take risks in the 6ht and 7th!!
