The Lone Sackmeister Is Now Gone

March 14th, 2018

Signed.

The Bucs picked the absolute worst time to be hunting for a defensive end.

The Bucs, drying of thirst for any sort of an edge rush, had limited choices in free agency due to many factors including most teams actually draft and develop and keep guys that can rush the passer, and the rare times one does pop up on the open market, they attack like a shark in a feeding frenzy.

Yeah, potentially a month ago, there were a few good pass rushers potentially on the market, but their teams weren’t dumb enough to let them go for no good reason.

The last one, proven pass rusher was Julius Peppers. Yes, was. He re-signed with the Stinking Panthers per Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer.

Now, if the Bucs are past the point of desperation, your best pass rushing defensive end on the market is loafing Adrian Clayborn.

But he has a motor!

    Joe you are stupid if you thought Peppers was signing here. He said he was only going back to Carolina.

  2. AlteredEgo Says:

    I was a Clayborn defender when he was here…as the intro says….high motor…too bad he was banged up the whole time….not saying sign him however

  3. BetterBuccinBelieveIt Says:

    Actually….it’s Vinny Curry, IMO, who regardless of classification of “on the market” or not, will be likely after 4:00 pm.

    Go Bucs!

  4. Dooshlarue Says:

    Sign the Honey Badger stat.

  5. AlteredEgo Says:

    Sign Suh…..no brainer at this point

  6. BetterBuccinBelieveIt Says:

    @Dooshlarue,

    Maybe the Honey Badger is indeed worth a look.

    Go Bucs!

  7. OneBucPerson Says:

    He was never coming here, he said he’d retire if Carolina didn’t want him back.

  8. Evolvingbucfan Says:

    Sign Suh!!!!!!!! It’s so crazy…. it just might work.

  9. Wausa Says:

    It is being reported the Bucs are one of five teams looking to sign Clayborn

  10. Lamarcus Says:

    Honey Badger? Licht? Come on. Bring some one in please!!!!

  11. Bird Says:

    Yah. No one had chance with peppers

  12. Joe Says:

    Joe you are stupid if you thought Peppers was signing here. He said he was only going back to Carolina.

    If you can find a direct quote of Peppers actually saying that, Joe wants to see it.

    Joe never, ever read that quote. His agent hinted at it, but Peppers, to the best of Joe’s knowledge and research, never said that.

  13. Rod Munch Says:

    The Bucs started the we need guys good in the “locker room” talk, which means they won’t go after Suh and will instead target “high character” guys, ie scrubs who lack the tools to make a good teams, but hey they practice hard and play a good clean game and isn’t that what it’s all about!

  14. BlogTalkFootball Says:

    Nobody on NFL Network is even considering the Bucs for the Honey Badger… yet we have the cap space… I need some more Zantac.

  15. Lord Cornelius Says:

    Murphy/Curry/Okafor/and others are all better than Clayborn…

  16. BetterBuccinBelieveIt Says:

    Bucs fans! Bucs fans! Bucs fans!….what has THIS Bucs fan been saying….??

    I thought you all might ENJOY this outstanding post below just now on Saquon Barkley, outlining EXACTLY what this Bucs fan had been stressing, hinting at…on and on 🙂 Enjoy 🙂

    no urgency….no excuse

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!…..GO BUCS!!!!!

  20. Joe Says:

    Murphy/Curry/Okafor/and others are all better than Clayborn…

    AGREE!

  21. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    Oh ye of little faith. Not saying this will happen but imagine the conversation on this blog if the Buc’s used their entire draft capital and perhaps a trade to move up in the first round to get BOTH Chubb…and Vea. Would those two be worth our entire draft? I say yes.

    Then get lucky…a healthy Spence! Then imagine Licht eats too much ingestible pot, gets high as a kite and signs Suh to an FA contract.

    Again I’m not laying book on this but as of this moment all of this is possible and we would end up with Suh/GMC Spence/Chubb and Vea fixing his major weakness…a lack of real experience….he needs seasoning…Suh and GMC would certainly present Vea with two DIFFERENT viewpoints.

    Again not saying it will happen…but if it did…what would the conversation be like at JBF?

  22. LakeLand Says:

    Another 4th place in the NFC South for the Bucs

    Welcome to Sucksville, USA

  23. Bucssuccs Says:

    I can’t wait for the glazers to sell this team and for someone who actually cares about football actually buys the bucs

  24. Wausa Says:

    I’m sure Licht sees these high prices being thrown around and thinks it is better to wait.

    The problem with the Bucs is they have so many holes(new starting RB, OG, DEx2, DT, CB and SS) and that does not allow them to have the luxury of bargain shopping or just waiting on the draft.

    Even if the Bucs have a great draft they are not going to be able to fill all the holes from the draft alone.

  25. DanBucsFan Says:

    Sign Suh ?!?!?! Come on guys, did you not learn anything from swaggy baker? Suh is of coarse surperior to baker talent wise, but stop with the Suh talk. It’s not gonna happen, he is so good, but is a punk and not a good teammate. Now if he could produce 10 + sacks id say go for it, but he can take his attitude and 5 sacks elsewhere, we are fine with McCoy and his 5-8 sacks at dt, and McCoy is a better person. And for the record im not against bringing in a few nasty players who are not model citizens, but id prefer to stay away from Suh. He was just quoted on espn that he will go to highest bidder, don’t care if he wins or not. So PASS on that punk.

  26. DB55 Says:

    Joe

    You’re a funny guy joe. You make me laugh. Like the Bucs ever had a chance at signing Peppers. Aww man you’re a funny guy.

    Same goes for Suh, honey badger or ANY tier 1 or 2 FAs.

  27. Rod Munch Says:

    DanBucsFan – no one, well no one that isn’t a yard, is saying dump McCoy for Suh, they’re saying have McCoy AND Suh. As for the Baker stuff give up on that fake news narrative that Baker tanked the season, if he was that bad they’d have cut him in the season. That’s all BS made-up after the season to try to justify being the worst defense in football. Baker didn’t cause that. Also Baker isn’t even close to the player Suh is. Suh and McCoy, playing side by side, make anyone the Bucs put at DE a lot better.

  28. DanBucsFan Says:

    Jensen signing will help, shoot maybe we actually can land Chubb in the draft with all the possible qb needy yeams moving up. Have faith guys our Bucs will rebound and be better next year. Only player I am against getting is Suh, if people want to say Gmc is cancer, then Suh is stage 4 cancer imo.. Bucs gonna be back next year and all you against them will be back also. GO BUCS FIRE THE CANNONS !!

  29. BucFanFromOhio Says:

    @StPeteBucsFan

    I think for us to get both Chubb and Vea we would not only have to give up all 2018 draft picks, but most likely some future picks as well. Vea is flying up draft boards, I bet he’s taken top 15.

  30. Not there yet Says:

    It was your dumb idea to sign him in the first place. He would never play for the rival of a team that will retire his jersey

    you left off LOSE QUIETLY

  32. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    You people are ridiculous. We knew going in that DE was not going to come in free agency.

    Or at least that the chances were low.

    So stop acting like the world is burning

  33. DanBucsFan Says:

    @ Rod Munch
    Good point sir. No way I can deny that logic, Suh and McCoy would be outstanding. I just dont like Suh, dirty player imo. But I understand your comment. I also agree about Baker, i just feel he was more into himself than team, but of coarse just my opinion my good man.

  34. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    The only one I wouldwant over Vea is Chubb.

  35. Pierce Says:

    We never had a shot to get him.

  36. DB55 Says:

    Suh don’t wanna play next to no darn McIceCream! Although Suh is all about his money so if numb nuts overpays Then #93 will say Suh on the back. Lolololol

  37. LakeLand Says:

    So the Bucs will invest $25-30 million a year in two 30 year old DTs?

  38. Chris in WA Says:

    ~~~Copied from an earlier thread~~~
    Is Adrian Clayborn better than Will Gholston and Robert Ayers Jr? If yes, then get him. Will we have to pay him more than he is worth? Yeah but when our DE’s are so terrible and Chubb won’t fall to us in the draft barring a crazy trade then you have to get guys like Clayborn. In the two seasons for the Bucs when he was healthy he had 7.5 sacks and 3 FF in his rookie 2011 season and 5.5 sacks and 2 FF in 2013. Let’s see what what coach Buckner can squeeze out of him it’s not like he is talentless.
    Doing nothing at DE would be the more worse than overpaying for Clayborn in my opinion. The Bucs are just that bad at DE currently.
  39. GhostofSchiano Says:
    And they raised ticket prices? LOL
  40. BetterBuccinBelieveIt Says:
    Trent Murphy to Buffalo and overpaid…..whewww, we avoided that one!
    Go Bucs!
  41. donuts Says:
    This is all part of the “Bucs plan”……
    to be 5-11 again.
  42. Bossmode Says:
    Suh and the honey badger on the market let get them on the team
