“Are You F’ing Kidding Me?”

March 27th, 2018

Brother of Chucky talks JPP.

Joe can report from the NFL coaches breakfast this morning one thing with an absolute 100 percent degree of accuracy.

NFC East coaches are not crying in their scrambled eggs over the fact Jason Pierre-Paul has exited their division.

That’s the gist Joe got from talking to some of the NFC East coaches who don’t work for a Gotham-based organization. Joe will have Cowboys coach Jason Garrett’s reaction (which is funny is so many ways) later but Joe will start with the feedback he got from Redskins coach Jay Gruden. You know, Brother of Chucky?

The one thing Gruden told Joe is that JPP is so athletic, that it is dangerous to throw a screen pass on JPP’s side of the field. Gruden then explained to Joe how he tried that more than once and JPP damned near picked off Kirk Cousins.

“He almost intercepted one or two against us last year,” Gruden said.

But it gets better, in a way only a Gruden can explain.

Last year the Redskins offensive line was beat to an absolute pulp and they were so desperate for offensive linemen they were about to start pulling longshoremen in for tryouts.

It was during a Giants-Redskins game where Gruden remembered what one of his assistants suggested.

“With the offensive line shuffled like we had I remember a play getting recommended to me from the press box,” Gruden recounted. “It was a seven-step drop. ‘Are you f’ing kidding me? I’ve got JPP on top of me!’

“So you know, you have to know where he is. You have to respect his talent and his athleticism. He’s a game-changer.”

Joe thought the story about JPP being able to damn-near pick off screen passes was pretty interesting. You don’t often see a defensive end being that cat-quick to pull that off very often.

I always questioned why we don’t bat down more passes…..at least Gholston with his height should be doing it…..if we can’t get to the QB….put your da–mned hands up.
I think JPP does this on a regular basis…..

  2. BetterBuccinBelieveIt Says:

The Gruden’s are always straight shooters, make for great sound bites. The screen game facet for acquiring JPP is a strong one, consider how much of NFL offenses have gone that route now, another strength for Bucs DLine.

Hopefully some of the stories will revolve around who on the Bucs roster currently might be on their way out!

    Go Bucs!

  3. tmaxcon Says:

Imagine if jpp had two full hands… with bucs pathetic crop of db’s jpp has a legit shot at leading team in picks

  4. firethecannons Says:

And Gruden was talking about JPP from last year–awesome–just what the Bucs need. This trade was a no-brainer–good job that Licht got in there and made it happen before some other team. JPP at this time is better than Chubb likely to be in his first year.

  5. firethecannons Says:

Tmax–whassup! dude where is the GMC bash–whoa!!!
I think the lack of hand has minimal effect on JPP at this point–if it does — he will likely continue to overcome it, sure seeming like a good trade at this point.

  6. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Best trade of Jason Licht’s career. Best.

  7. tmaxcon Says:

    Fire

I’m good with jpp deal it finally renders the cancer93 nuthuggers without excuses when the soft arse pansy fails again this year to better than average

  8. MakeTheBucsGreatAgain Says:

good god tmax, I’ve been reading this blog for years now, and every time I read one of your stupid ass comments I lose a couple brain cells, I finally decided to make a comment, please pick another team to be a complete cancer to. at the end of the day the Bucs are an up and coming team, and when we are making playoff runs in the next 5-6 years with this young core, I’m really curious to see what dumb ass stuff you will say about the team. BTW Gerald McCoy top 5 DT in league and why hate on JPP, do we have much better options off the edge rush, if so please let Jason licht know immediately for being such a dumbass and trading for JPP, what is he doing trading for an edge rusher when our pass rush is clearly one of the best in the league? man you should be the Bucs GM #TmaxforGM2018

  9. SCBucsFan Says:

    Best case scenario

TMax finally gives in and becomes a Raiders fan. Next day we trade McCoy there for their 1st round pick.

A guy can dream, can’t he?

Sounds like a good question JOE should ask DC Smitty. In 16 games last year Gholston should have had a least 3-5 passes batted down. Why was he (or the D-line) C-O-A-C-H-E-D to correct these deficiencies?

Yes, Tmax this includes all pro defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, it includes all defensive linemen.

AND makes his seventh consecutive pro bowl. That has to be a record isn’t it?

  13. SCBucsFan Says:

Ghost making the ProBowl means nothing, right? Its just pure luck you make it according to some.

  14. SteveK Says:

    Scbucsfan,

Why don’t you find a new team since you’re so damn sensitive about other true fans’ comments? Tmaxcon is a true fan and he gets it.

  15. SCBucsFan Says:

SteveK you are not only an internet tough guy but a comedian too. Two careers! Good for you.

  16. derrickbrooksforGM Says:

Sapp had a pick six and he’s a CHUUUUNKY DT. Nooooot a big deal for a DE to do this Joe LOL

  17. SteveK Says:

    Scbucsfan,

I don’t get it? You’re the one antagonizing fans for their opinions. You’re the over-sensitive internet tough guy, so what’s your gripe?

Fans should be pissed off thst their favorite team sucks. It pisses me off every day, and I unconditionally love the Bucs.

You strike me as the kind of fan to change your moniker when the going gets tough ie- your opinion gets shredded and you need to chang shout name for embarrasment’s sake.

  18. SCBucsFan Says:

Steve K, I love the Bucs – have from day 1 – and I see their faults but I don’t let it take over my life. I guess glass half full people look at those who are glass empty people and feel sorry for them. As for posters, those who do nothing but post negative things aren’t realists, they are trolls. Not 100% of this team is bad; not 100% is good so if 100% of your posts are negative then I couldn’t care less what you have to say.

Reasonable people can disagree on players, coaches and schemes; if your opinion differs it doesn’t make you a moron or incorrect in my eyes. But why shout it over and over?

  19. SteveK Says:

I’ve been positive about JPP and other things.

I’m down on Heargraves bc we used the 11th overall pick on a CB who has sucked out loud. I hope he can improve.

I just don’t understand why you question fans and call them “trolls” for having a glass half empty/realist opinion?

I guess it goes both ways and us realists call the happy go-lucky/see no wrong fans “sheep”.

  20. tmaxcon Says:

I promise ladies that I’ll try to live in denial about the last decade of failure so I don’t hurt the feelings of choirboy loving pansy arse bucfan more concerned we with feelings than victories… when bucs EARN positive feedback they will receive it. Free passes are for pabst arses

  21. louis Says:

Off topic …..is it possible to trade tmax for a undrafted free agent pick after the draft,,,his true worth to the fan base in tampa…

  22. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

“Pablo knows the true secret as to How Hason Pierre Paul lost fingers (not fireworks)…..JPP had his hand up Tmax’s a$$ and a couple of rabid gerbils bit them off.”

  23. Alan Says:

So excited to see this guy play with mccoy!

  24. Buc believer Says:

JPP can accomplish with one and a half hands what GMC can’t do with two full ones!

  25. uckinator Says:

I’m getting all warm and fuzzy.

  26. GhostofSchiano Says:

Love to see Dirk line Beau Allen up at TE or Fullback for a short yardage down like Gruden did with Sapp.

  27. tmaxcon Says:

    Tampabaybucfan

How many games has jpp help bucs win so far????

Nobody celebrates paper transactions and justifies loses better than low standard bucfan…

  28. Bucsfanman Says:

tmax- “pabst arses”?!!! Is that when you drink too many PBRs the night before?!

Buc believer- Not for nothing, but they play different positions. Man, even tmax can surprise with positivity from time to time. You? I seriously question how you can be a true fan. How can you not be excited about the prospects of having legitimate talent on this d-line? Name the last time we had real-deal pass-rushers on the ends. Yea, like, since the Earth cooled.
If you are a “believer”, and you’re so angry about pass-rush, maybe you should direct your anger toward the non-existent DEs we’ve had since Bennett left.

  29. tmaxcon Says:

    Bucsfanman

no sh*t… Pabst Arse is the worst. one of my better type O’s… Bar that I used to frequent in Chicago had $5.00 PBR / Jemoson Shot Combo… Wonderful nights followed by horrible mornings.

  30. webster Says:

But joe this cant be right. We have posters who said their friends was laughing at the bucs/him all day and night about this trade. We have posters who cherry picked the negative comments from bleacher report about this trade while overlooking the giants fans who loved jpp. I mean this trade has to be the worst, no?

  31. Bucsfanman Says:

tmax- Dude! That is a deadly combo! Jameson alone will keep you near the facilities the next day.
    Pass on the Pabst!

  32. dmatt Says:

    Tampabaybucfan,
I agree with u 100%, I have also wondered with Gholston’s height n size, why he in particular don’t bat down more passes if he can’t get a sack on passing downs? I have watched Gholston rush the passer with no intensity to disrupt the pass. Gholston is too timid n passive. If we draft BChubb, I say let’s sever ties with Gholston. On the other hand(no that’s not what I mean) JPP plays with passion n determination on every down.

  33. Erik w/ Clean Athletics Says:

Best DL acquisition for this franchise since we got Simeon!

  34. Mike Johnson Says:

Sure JPP is good. But lets not just rely on him and the others we have. You can never..ever..have enough pass rushers. Please secure another good one in the draft. What happens if JPP goes down? Don’t rest on your Laurels there Bucs..keep solidifying the trenches. Its your key to vicotory this year. One man does not maketh a Defensive Show!!

  35. Batman Wood Says:

@TBBF “I always questioned why we don’t bat down more passes”

This has been a thing since ’76. Even our great defenses didn’t do it.

  36. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @dmatt

There has to be a point where the Dlineman knows he’s not getting to the QB….is tied up in a block……that’s the point where the Dlineman needs to watch the QB and time the hands up to deflect the pass…..even if the hands up before the pass don’t bat it down, it forces the QB to alter the throw somewhat….

I’ll tell you this….Drew Brees is very good at lofting the ball over the hands of Dline….I guess since he’s smaller he’s had to perfect this over the years……

  37. James Craig Marlow Says:

No going to buy in to the JPP “game changer” theory yet. I have been fooled too many times.

  38. DB55 Says:

For the record I luv me some jpp.

The fact that Gmen fans I know laughed at the trade had to do with what they got in return a 3rd pick and 17.5 mil off the books.

    But please continue…….

  39. DB55 Says:

With that said jpp is still not a sure fire bet.

  40. unbelievable Says:

“It was a seven-step drop. ‘Are you f’ing kidding me?

Now there’s a thought that Koetter has never, ever had himself. Unfortunately.

  41. Buc believer Says:

Bucsfanman…. I am a BUCS believer not a believer in a player who publicly states he has more important things in life than football who helps opposing players up off the turf who publicly states he is just using football for his other life pursuits who does not really care about wins and losses and who is a media hound.

  42. Jon Jegglie Says:

2000 NFC championship game, Steve White tipped and picked warner’s screen on first play from scrimmage.

  43. Bucsfanman Says:

Buc- I sure hope you have more important things in life than football and your job. That said, I won’t begrudge your feelings. He’s become the face of Buc fans’ ire. I can’t speak personally for him, but what I will say is that somebody better slap me in the face when I start taking my work too seriously.
    Life is short, enjoy it.

  44. Buc believer Says:

Same with me Bucsfanman but there is a bit of a difference with our jobs and McCoy’s

  45. Bucsfanman Says:

    Yea, $$$$$$$$$$$$! 🙂

  46. donuts Says:

    DB55

Are u spewing more nonsense?? If JPP is not “a sure fire bet”, then who was in FA in your mind that we should have picked up/traded over JPP?

Were you planning on bringing back Reggie White? Does he meet your DE standards?

All that hate makes you blind bro. We can tell from your 93 comments that are based on hate and subjective thinking rather than what is actually occurring on the field.

Its all good …YOU can resume with your nonsense.

  47. Reach87 Says:

Issue is BS criticism like “he doesnt play hard, he’s always hurt, he makes decisions on other defensive linemen we sign, his tackles/sacks/pressures/ tackles for loss/minutes/percentage of snaps played are worse than Suh’s, Curry didn’t mention him in his press conference, no one wants to play with him, he’s a quitter, he’s a hypocrite wrt religion, he would have trampled the disabled lady with Bennett”, it goes on and on. That’s the issue…not basic opinions…the issue is made up nonsense to justify the crying. IMO it doesn’t matter if you’ve been a fan since day one of the franchise and spend your last quarter on tickets… its not right to make up stuff when you know its not true. That’s the issue.
