Jameis’ (Minor) Crash

February 23rd, 2018

Ticketed.

This is why we pay for insurance.

Joe was going to ignore this since it’s boring and not really news. But, seeing how this went viral, Joe has succumbed to public pressure.

(You see, this is a perfect example of why Jameis Winston is America’s Quarterback. Anyone else getting into a no-injuries, offseason bump on the highway. it’s tossed aside. Jameis? It’s national news. ‘Merica!)

Per Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times, Jameis, in his beautiful Ford pick-up, slammed into the rear of a rig near the Waters Ave. exit on the Suncoast Parkway/Veterans Expressway earlier this month. Joe travels that same road almost daily and Joe is going to guess Jameis had his mind on the Chick-fil-A which is located at that Waters Ave. exit.

No one was injured and the Florida Highway Patrol slapped Jameis with a ticket for careless driving.

The key element here is that no one was hurt, and at least for now, it doesn’t appear as if Jameis will be a victim of a “shakedown” like what happened to LeGarrette Blount when he was with the Bucs.

I’ve been in two accidents in my life, neither my fault.

I just wanted to make the story about me and so everyone would ask how I’m doing and if I’m OK or not and what they can do to help me, heck maybe one of you slubs can set up a GoFundMe or something.

    God bless.

  2. Rob Says:

The one with whom Joe anoints, America’s turnover machine, was surely not at fault. The fact that he “slammed into the rear of a rig” surely absolves him of any wrong doing. Thankful his distracted driving for who knows what reason didn’t get him injured, or heaven forbid he injured someone who was just in his way. Future HOF, current Buccaneer quarterback, also known as “America’s turnover machine (ATM for short) always gets a free pass, no matter what he does. Somehow the FHP officer is probably targeting him because he is a professional quarterback as well and trying to make an example of him. [No need for that. — Joe]

  3. LifeOfABucFan Says:

    Good post Rob!

    —-

I did read that the ATM did get ticketed for careless driving..

  4. Lamarcus Says:

They way my phone notification went off about JW was like he killed someone. Then I read the story I swear Joe I thought ” this is why he is Americas Qb”. Lol.

  5. Lamarcus Says:

JW can swat a fly and it will make headlines.

  6. TSyce Says:

Hey Joe your boyfriend JW ain’t that sharp. Bet there’s more to that story. America’s quarterback my ass. He needs to stop being a turnover machine (not to mention a bozo) before he’s anointed the cute little nickname you have him

  7. Lamarcus Says:

    Tsyce

Ur one of the reasons to why he Americas Qb

  8. Joe Says:

Then I read the story I swear Joe I thought ” this is why he is Americas Qb”. Lol.

    🙂

  9. NFLNut Says:

As I’ve said many times before, JW is the new 2Pac … the media loves to hate him but those who know him adore him for life …

  10. JoeWhatFan? Says:

    This isn’t national news…

  11. Tbbucs3 Says:

BSPN is going to make this seem way worse than it is and add it to his red flag file.

  12. Joe Says:

    This isn’t national news…

    Really?

    * No. 2 headline (as of 1:35 a.m.) on BSPN’s NFL headlines.
    * Prominent play of Pro Football Talk (NBCSports.com), arguably the most popular national football news site.
    * No. 4 headline on theMMQB.com (as of 1:37 a.m.), Sports Illustrated’s NFL site run by Peter King.

If that’s not national news, then Joe doesn’t know what national news is. And given the fact Joe’s been trafficking in journalism for decades, gotta hunch Joe knows what national news is.

  13. Chris in WA Says:

Zero awareness in the pocket and zero awareness driving on Veterans it seems.

I kid! I hope his truck isn’t too damaged. I don’t care how rich you are no man likes to see his car damaged.

  14. Rod Munch Says:

    Nothing about me?

    Haters.

  15. NCMike Says:

Maybe he seen a crab and thought “I want some crab legs!”. Just teasing, but maybe true! Lol

  16. Marc Says:

This just goes to show that he is a bust. Time to move on. Trade him now while he still has value. (sarcasm)

  17. Defense Rules Says:

@Joe … “Joe was going to ignore this since it’s boring and not really news.” Your first instinct was right Joe. We’re all still groping for answers as to what prompted you to change your mind.

  18. Pickgrin Says:

Must be a pretty slow “news” day.

  19. Leighroy Says:

If Jameis being the number 2 story on ESPN’s NFL page is justification for a non-story, then where’s the Joe’s story about Desean Jackson? His bullet-riddled, weed filled, crashed and abandoned vehicle investigation is number 1.

  20. tmaxcon Says:

It’s always news when the most important buc of all time does anything. He was probably having a flash back of one of cancer93 pathetic pregame speeches and temporary lost his mind

  21. Dooshlarue Says:

This is why he should only use Uber…….
    Oh wait….

  22. Buccaneer scotty Says:

    No texting and driving!

  23. Bnomo Says:

Could be a lawsuit if the big J at fault. Oh, my back, gimme $$$$$.

  24. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Going to be a SLOWWWWW Bucs news day.

  25. Buc believer Says:

I can see Morgan and Morgan smiling from ear to ear!! Jameis involved in a rear end collision in which he was at fault??? I can hear it now… “FORGET THE AMBULANCE!!! CALL MY LAWYER!!”

  26. USFBUC Says:

Glad he isn’t hurt, can’t wait for another great season in 2018 from Winston. Hopefully they draft a pair of RBs, get a Dline, improve the Oline, and get a pair of CBs to take advantage of his record breaking performance in these early years.

  27. johnnybuc Says:

not really if your franchise qb gets in a car accident it’s going to be reported by local media . that’s just how it works even if he wasn’t injured . hell if any promenent player on your team gets an a accident it’s probably getting reported. just because you don’t doesn’t mean the majority doesn’t …

  28. donuts Says:

More signs of an immature person/QB that is supposed to lead the Bucs to a SB? He was cited for reckless driving. JBF does not need to cater to Winston by leaving out facts as it makes you look like a protective mom of a spoiled athlete

  29. LakeLand Says:

There’s nothing minor about being reckless.

  30. AlteredEgo Says:

    yawn….

  31. Bucsfanman Says:

    I drank coffee this morning.

  32. tmaxcon Says:

    donuts

Please explain how a minor accident correlates to maturity especially considering the majority of rear end accidents in Florida were committed by over 40 adults. . Nice stretch… It’s a shame you and others have such bias against the most important buc of all time.

  33. tmaxcon Says:

    Bucsfanman

Out of your I Love Batman Cup I am assuming.

  34. Locked In Says:

    Did he fumble?

  35. tmaxcon Says:

Big difference between reckless and careless driving.

  36. Tom Edrington Says:

Hmmmmmm, driver who got rear-ended will keep having increasing neck pain over the next 30 days……..

“I get it, another lawyer commercial — you probably don’t even know what we do, then WHAM!!!! Do I have insurance? Do they have insurance,? This is what we do 24 hours a day, every day!”

    — Brad Culpepper

Would it be ironic if a former Buc brought the suit against the current Buc??

  37. I Bleed Pewter and Red Says:

You say his careless driving was no big deal. Unless of course it had killed someone. What if that had been a motorcycle he ran over from the rear? Same accident just different vehicles involved. I question his awareness. Thanks to miraculous circumstances it ended up just being a minor accident that should’ve been avoided.

  38. Bucsfanman Says:

    @tmax- Touche! Nice play!

  39. SteveK Says:

    NFLNut,

Last week you said “Jameis should pull a Lebron”.

This week you say “Jameis is the new 2pac bc of media hate”.

Jameis is not on their level yet, but with some success on the field + staying out of trouble off the field, he could get there.

If Jameis is suspended next year, I will blame him for the failures of the 2018 season. A #1 overall pick, going into year 4, needs to be talent by care of business.

If we know Jameis is going to be suspended, than snatch up. Alter Mayfield at #7 overall. May the best QB win.

Lesson learned from sticking with Doug Martin, don’t rely on suspended players. It will torpedo our season, again.

  40. Jim Says:

    Time for that eye exam…

  41. BucsFanInTokyo Says:

The off season stupidity is in full swing for fans (myself included) and players. Move along people. Nothing to see here.

    Next up, underwear football.

    Go Bucs!

  42. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

“Florida Highway Patrol slapped Jameis with a ticket for careless driving”

Uh oh. That’s a year suspension in Goodell’s eyes!

  43. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Rod Munch Says:
“I’ve been in two accidents in my life, neither my fault.”

Two here as well, but neither was reported. The first was a minor parking lot ding when I first started driving. Backed into the corner of a parked car, but only left a scruff mark that wiped off.

Second one was a ‘gentle’ sideswipe of a van that was parked in the middle of the road as I tried to get around it. A little scraping happened there. Since the owner was parked illegally, she didn’t want the police called and we went our separate ways. I suspect she also did not have a valid license.

Nothing else….by the grace of god and the defensive driving I learned after that.

  44. 813bucboi Says:

as long as everyone involved is unharmed, im ok with it….accidents will unfortunately happen….

no one was hurt but from the pics dougs accident seemed a little worse….

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!!

  45. BrianBucs Says:

I wonder if he took an Uber home?

  46. BrianBucs Says:

I f Jameis has a bad season next year, we already now know what the excuse will be

  47. sharkiebucfan Says:

Clearly the only issue here with this incident is the fact that no one had identified that he was driving a ford. Actually, he was driving a FORD per the newspaper report.–Joe That would NEVER happen in a GMC.
Joe should suggest that Jameis buy a safer more reliable vehicle instead if insinuating that delicious tiny chicken nuggets are at fault.

  48. Mike Johnson Says:

Not many amongst you who have been driving long in this life have not had an accident or 2. And today’s drivers are even more rude, distracted and non-courteous than they have ever been. I have had 3 in my lifetime. Been drivin over 35 yrs. Nobody ever got seriously hurt in any of them..except my feelings..Thank God!

  49. Robert Says:

    shakedown??? really.

It doesn’t matter if you’re JW or anyone else. what matters is the person you hit! some are letigious, and some are not. it’s the insurance co. they go after.

sheez. is there nothing you will not defend him on…..

  50. Joe Says:

    Robert:

Click on the “shakedown” link for background.

  51. Buc4life Says:

    Last straw cut him

  52. NFLNut Says:

    *********************

    STEVEK,

One does not have to be on the level of another player to be compared to that other player in various ways … one can rightly say that Josh Allen has a bigger arm than Peyton Manning without meaning that Josh Allen is “on the same level” as a player as Peyton Manning … stop arguing with things I never said.

Jameis SHOULD pull a LeBron and try to influence his team to spend like crazy in free agency this year; heck for all we know, he already has and personally told Licht to cut Doug and Swaggy!

Jameis IS also the new 2Pac when it comes to NFL players as the media loves to hate on the young man.

I mean, just look at the recent articles on he and Mariota. Mariota threw more picks than TDs last year with the immortal DeShone Kizer and ESPN’s headline for their article on him is about his “tantalizing potential”, while Jameis set career bests in nearly every statistical category while playing half the year with a jacked throwing shoulder, and bested Mariota in basically every category as well, and yet the headline on their article about Jameis is that he’s “an enigma”.

Now, as for your idea of drafting a QB at #7 … you have just disqualified yourself from ever being taken seriously again; you have firmly put yourself at the very top of the LOON list.

The Bucs TEAM sucks and has tons of holes everywhere and you want to spend their top pick on one of their positions of strength? How absurd.

Also, if Jameis gets suspended it will be because Goodell feels like suspending him, not because he actually did anything to warrant a suspension, so blaming the season on him would be stupid.

It’s fans like you, fans that are akin to those idiots in Orlando back in the early 90s who ran Shaq at own town with their constant bickering and then watched him win 3 straight rings in Los Angeles and become the most dominant force the game has ever seen, that could end up running Jameis out of town and watching him win rings in another city as well.

It’s hard for me to believe there are people as illogical and nonsensical as you even out there … I mean, how can one have such a horribly low football-IQ? It’s just baffling to me.

  53. Rod Munch Says:

Bonzai – Thank you, finally someone that thought about me, about what I’ve gone through, you’re the only person on this board I do not hate – and I say that with love in my heart.

  54. BuccaneEric75 Says:

I got a $182 ticket for running a red light 1 second after it changed 2 weeks ago, and Winston rear ends a car and only got fined $150! 😡lol

  56. The Anomaly Says:

“the most important buc of all time”

    Please do not breed.

  57. TSyce Says:

LAMARCUS: In regards to the comment u sent at me about jw3 being this so called ” America’s qb”. I’m as big a bucs fan as anyone however I’ll NEVER be blinded by it. Jw has great potential but as of today dude is inconsistent, he makes stupid decisions on AND off the field, and he’s a f***** turnover machine. That being said he does plenty of good w the ball too, which is why I believe in his talent (for the time being). As for the cute little nickname, not quite sure what it means but if it means anything close to what I think it does he DEFINATELY ain’t it.He has a lot more growing to do to fit the bill. As a man, a leader, AND a qb.its called being objective and realistic. You shld try it out

  58. ARGH_M8E Says:

    It’s a Bucs life.

  59. papadoc Says:

Having retired after 42 years as an orthopedic chiropractor I have seen many instances wherein justifiable symptoms of neck and/or spinal injuries do not appear until several weeks following rear end accidents especially involving the cervical spinal region. Only time will tell as to what occurs post accident in this instance.
