Brooks: GMC Haters “Unjust”

February 1st, 2018

Defended by Hall of Famer.

Joe thinks the Gerald McCoy haters just like to hear themselves holler.

To listen to them, it is GMC alone who is responsible for the Bucs morphing into Cleveland South. They throw rocks at him for every freaking thing imaginable. It is sad.

Joe spent time in Minneapolis this week honestly trying to find someone to explain how GMC stinks, as Joe usually does when around NFL folks. But Joe could not find anyone. These NFL types — which include successful offensive coordinators and head coaches — look at Joe as if he has three eyes, when sharing how many Bucs fans absolutely detest GMC.

Joe may find a guy here or there who says GMC isn’t among the top four defensive tackles, but nobody calls him a bust or a sieve.

Well, it seems Stephen Ruiz of the Orlando Sentinel caught up with revered Derrick Brooks last week at the Pro Bowl and Brooks had words for the GMC haters.

In short, Brooks believes the haters are out of line.

“He has not had the best team around him since he has been here, but yet he continues to compete at a high level,’’ Brooks said. “That’s all you can ask the young man to do. He constantly gets compared to Warren Sapp. Some of it is unfair and unjust, but he takes it all in stride.’’

Joe never dreamed Akeem Spence was so popular! That’s how it feels, the way so many folks want to run GMC out of town.

The Bucs defense was horrid last season, so it can’t afford to unload good players, especially one of the better defensive tackles in the game.

GMC haters likely had mothers that

  2. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

…didn’t love them, or they still live with them.

  3. Hodad Says:

Eight years of GMC is like listening to a broken record. We’re all just tired of the smiling clown, his excuses, the B.S. he needs better players around him Blah, blah, blah. Time to turn the page, unless you want to keep having this argument until he hangs it up? We can’t, and the Bucs won’t until he moves on.

  4. Architek Says:

Sorry but McCoy will take some responsibility for 10 years of bad defense and losing. He’s played his role in the culture. He’s been a good player but he’s been a contributor to losing.

  5. MarineBucsFan Says:

The hate is unreal. Billick nailed it by saying we just don’t have the right Jimmy and Joes. McCoy has not played along side an impact player since being a Buc. You could argue Bennett but he hadn’t reached his full potential at that time. What a waste of a mighty fine player in McCoy. He is not the Super Star player that we want him to be, so what!!! We aren’t the Super Fan Base that the team want us to be. A bunch of panties up in a bunch azz fans that don’t know crap about being a football player who constantly criticize its best players in McCoy, Winston, Evans, and Kwon!! It’s a team game and until we get McCoy some real help along the defensive line it will be the same story every year. This man can’t carry the weight of the entire defensive pass rush!!!

  6. MarineBucsFan Says:

Please Jason Licht be aggressive and bold this off season and fix this defense.

  7. I Bleed Pewter and Red Says:

Why doesn’t he get more sacks? There are three tech tackles on other teams who are not as famous as McCoy and play on even crappier front four lines that get more sacks than him. I get the double team mantra but he’s not the only one who gets doubled but seem to have more success. I like GMC and know he is our best def. lineman but he gets stuffed more than he disrupts.

  8. Clodhopper Says:

There’s one glaring fault in Brooks’ comment.

“he takes it all in stride”

Well, that’s just plain untrue. He’s a passive aggressive whiner.

That’s like saying Sapp is a calm, polite gentleman during a disagreement with hookers.

  9. C eh N eh D eh Says:

His play has never matched his draft status. He doesn’t make players around him better, obviously. Compounding everything is his lack of urgency about winning, he’s too happy after a loss, everyone’s seen that. Then he makes stupid public statements about bringing in people to show him how to win…and he has no stones in his pants when idiots like us can affect him with words. He’s ageing, injured constantly and has peaked. That is why he needs to go. The defense can’t get any worse. Unload time is NOW…bye, bye smiley comics clown…

  10. MarineBucsFan Says:

    I bleed pewter and red,

Stats (sacks) aren’t everything and especially at DT. True enough he not disruptive on every play but who is??? He is very challenging to block one on one and even when you double him multiple times a game. Coaches and players from other teams always talk about how they game plan to stop McCoys disruptive play. If they using two guys to slow him where is the help, where is the clean up crew?? A lot of players sacks don’t even come from what they did right on a particular play but it was a teammates disruptive play that set them up for the sack. The QB ran into them trying to get away from someone else.

  11. D-Rome Says:

Mark Dominick and Jason Licht have wasted GMC’s prime years. Simple as that.

    Its the ICE CREAM Mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn……

cmon yall bucs fans…sing it wit meh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He got paid and he’s been chilling ever since

Give me Suh…someone with fire and intensity than the Ice Cream man <—————awwwwww….he's such a "nice guy"

    always smiling
    helping opponents off the ground

Instead of getting mad and stopping them into the ground

and people wonder why BUCS FANS WHO ACTUALLY PAY ATTENTION are done with the Ice Cream man

Once again……great guy but the Bucs wouldn't be hurting without him on the DLine

  13. MarineBucsFan Says:

I hate that argument that he doesn’t make players around him better. Players need to hold themselves accountable. McCoy is not a good leader, we all know this. That to me is fair criticism, but we going to ship one of our best players because he not a good leader???

  14. Hawaiian Buc Says:

I’m just glad I’m not one of the idiots that hate GMC.

  15. Ndog Says:

Keep in mind these are the same people Joe is interviewing that said Mike Smith is the right guy for the job and is doing a good job. So you have that….

  16. MarineBucsFan Says:

I think our younger guys are becoming great leaders!! Kwon has definitely accepted that challenging this past season. And Winston, yeah he can be corny sometimes but he has it and he will get better at it.

  17. Pickgrin Says:

You can’t fix stupid – which is exactly what everyone IS who thinks McCoy is more liability than benefit.

  18. Tom Edrington Says:

I like Gerald, I enjoy seeing him in his black and red Bentley when he drives it around the neighborhood.

  19. BigHogHaynes Says:

You can’t make “scrubs” better!! Management never got this man an above average DE since Bennett left town “for no good reason”!! Ayers brung nothing neither did McDonald, Spence ain’t even mediocre, it’s as if they thought GMC was some kind of superman, it’s a team sport, people come on here and look at his stats,….what are the stats of his teammates! We drafted a big guy on defense last year…did he ever get on the field? TAKE A KNEE…KEEP AMERICA FREE…let’s not MAKE AMERICA WHITE AGAIN…

  20. Lamarcus Says:

    Come on

Why do we have to have a cosigner to validate if he is good or not? Nobody asking about Cox or Donald cuz we see it on the field.

GMC nothing more than a failed marketing campaign. Especially when he wants to fight fans at One Buc. GMC refuses to call out the loser on his team if they’re so bad.

Trade GMC for a supplemental pick

  21. webster Says:

Too funny clod. Hey derrick brooks is the ultimate company man. Mccoy critique is warrented. I mean he let an outsider in swaggy come into his lockerroom and be lazy. Thats all you need to know.

  22. Dooshlarue Says:

    Nicely done clodhopper.

  23. Lamarcus Says:

Gmc is a let down. Can’t even close out a game with that 1 play we need. Tandy had 3 close out games and he is a 4 string safety. But I want my 6 time pro bowl top 5 dt in the league to make at least one but no GMC continues to get a pass cuz he is nice.

  24. 813bucboi Says:

fans don’t question his talent…..we question his intangibles…..

    his leadership….toughness….

not playing thru injury toughness…..but im a bully on the field toughness…. no smiles no laughing on the sideline toughness…..get in your face cut out all the BS toughness…..im sick of losing toughness…..

I thought great players make players around him better?…..GMC has been here for years and hasn’t made anyone better…..will gholston is a perfect example…..

I have yet to hear GMC get serious and say enough is enough….we aint going thru this losing BS anymore like brooks sapp and others got together and said that’s it……

the ole sang is true……nice guys come in last!!!!!!!

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!!…..GO BUCS!!!!!

  25. Not there yet Says:

My problem isn’t too much about his play on the field, he’s average he’s not elite and that’s where I have a problem with people saying I’m a hater. He’s a good player but not even close to great. My main issue with him is he is 30 years old and despite calling himself the leader of the defense knows absolutely nothing about leading which is why HE let Chris Baker come in and take over HIS locker room and load the entire season. Your not a leading bro please stop telling everyone that because you have won nothing.

You can’t make “scrubs” better!! Management never got this man an above average DE since Bennett left town “for no good reason”!!

    that’s not true boss man……

Michael Bennett was an UDFA…..they drafted Adrian clayborn in the 1st round who had 7.5sacks his rookie year……they spent a 4th round pick on will gholston…..2nd round pick on spence…..

in 2011 GCM played with AC and MB….we finished 4-12….not saying it was totally their fault but he’s had talent to play with…..

great players make those around him better…..GMC doesn’t do that…..

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  27. tmaxcon Says:

neither GMC nor Brooks are relevant to bucs future success thus irrelevant period. sapp and brooks sound like loser high school players telling old stories into their 60’s. they are form an underachieving past they won a Superbowl but NEVER contended consistently. sapp and brooks are hardly qualified to critique or criticize anything considering they never figured out how to win consistently and brooks could never win without sapp. just like all has beens they need to go back to thier couches and tell more irrelevant stories of the past.

TV is better with the greatest buc of all time Sapp on their airways. but stay out of current bucs you can’t help.

  28. 813bucboi Says:

and if I see him use his “quick get off” to shoot the gap only to have the RB run right behind him im going to lose it…..fire off…hold the point of attack…shed the block and make a play…..stop guessing!!!!!

  29. Chris in WA Says:

It’s just called trolling. Unfortunately some high profile trolls beat the dead horse so often others think there is some life in the horse after all and start to believe their own echo chamber. You can already see they are starting to turn on Dungy and Brooks now. Who is next, Paul Gruber?

  30. Couch Fan Says:

When you’re only excuse every off season is, “He has no one else around him” you know something is wrong period. As I said for years now overpaid, overhyped and over valued. Our defense is pretty much the same with or without him. Neither can get pressure on the QB which is why I am all in on trading McCoy if you can get something decent out of it before its to late and he’s to old.

  31. MarineBucsFan Says:

Successful teams have players that believe in the system and hold themselves accountable.

    “Do your Job”

McCoy does his job and he does it well. Not his fault he surrounded by trash players that can’t win one on one like ever!!! Or out of position and not there to feed off of his success.

  32. Mike Johnson Says:

When you play on a bad team and You are a good player, You take the heat. Its kinda sad GMC does not have the slightest of compliment to assist him on this D Line. Evey game I watched when he did not play, our Defense Suffered. Course now, others here were watching all together different games. Bucs are gonna be at the divisions bottom for another 2 yrs or so. Saint/falcons/ Panthers ain’t goin nowheres. They are probably gonna improve evn more. One day the Glazers will..see the light. That day is about 2 yrs off I think.

  33. ATrain Says:

    Joe

Where are the three NFL guys you wrote about before the season who called GMC out

Why not listen to both sides of the coin there isn’t one or two guys on here trashing GMC

    GMC SHOWS NO HEART

  34. Capt.Tim Says:

You would have to be totally ignorant about football,To blame any of this P.O.S team on McCoy.

He is a victim of the Stupidity- not a part of it. He is the Best DT in team history, and these idiots have surrounded him garbage.
The horrible coaches, multitude of Defensive schemes, and absolute refusal in aquiring a decent Defensive end- has wasted McCoys talent and career to this point.

As I touched on, in a previous post.
If there were any justice- the Glazers would rent 10-20 billboards in the area. Then they would post on there- how very sorry they are, for mismanaging McCoys career and talent.

Then- they would give McCoy to the contender of his choice.
Not trade. Give. The Bucs dont deserve to profit from his departure.

Personally- i feel thats not enough. I think the Glazers should also round up some of the stupidest people in Tampa( Everyone thats Coached McCoy as a Buc, Both GMs, Tmaxipad, db55, Lamarcus, etc), and line them up at McCoys gate at TIA.
As McCoy walks to plane, his last sight in Tampa should be all of those idiots being horse whipped!
But thats probably just me. Lol

Then, fire everybody that works for the Bucs.everyone.
    And try again

  35. MarineBucsFan Says:

People that say trade McCoy have completely lost all hope in this team. I’m not for trading our best defensive player when I think if we bring in the right players on that side we can quickly turn things around.

We have FA, Trade, and Draft to add 2 nasty pass rushers, 2 CBs, a DT, and a Safety.

    Go Bucs

  36. ATrain Says:

    Joe
Ask the owners out there. Who would take on GMC contract to have this awesome DT?

    My guess

    No One

  37. Josh Says:

Let me get this straight. You want GMC launched, not for poor performance, but for… smiling too much? When multiple HOFers and people who actually play in the NFL defend GMC it’s time to accept the fact that he’s worthy of praise. I would trust professional NFL analysts and players over the couch GMs that frequent this site. After he’s gone, I suppose you’d rely on Chris Baker to pass rush, or do you want to pull out the ol’ reliable and cut most of our defense tackles?

  38. Eric Says:

I guess Lee Roy Selmon sucked too, since the bucs didn’t win much when he played here.

And no nicer guy has ever played pro football than Mr. Selmon.

But lets get rid of the best player we have. So we can improve.

  39. MarineBucsFan Says:

Very little chance this team is better without McCoy

did you hear brian bullick say smitty is the best in the business at DC and how he did a great with the defense in 2017?……

then the “he doesn’t have the players” excuse showed it ugly head…..folks have that same excuse for GMC…he doesn’t have players around him…..

that’s all BS….he’s played with a 1st round DE….a 4th round DE and now a second round DE who had 1st round talent……

  41. webster Says:

    @ tmax

What the he11 are you talking about? Sapp/brooks defenses was championship caliber every year. Its not their fault the offense couldnt score. You sound foolish blaming the defense that finished constantly in the top 5 as the reason for no superbowls. They were winning the nfc championship 6-5. Come on man. Dont embarrass buc fans with that logic.

  42. LargoBuc Says:

GMC is a hell of a talent. It would be nice to have a defensive mind that can build around his talent.

  43. Chris in WA Says:

Joe Thomas never played in a single playoff game. Guess he was a bust Offensive Tackle for the Browns. Same with Nnamdi Asomugha. This team is a Farm team for the rest of the NFL and it’s evident by the first and second round talent that makes it’s way to other teams within a few years. Open an investigation into Mark Dominick for fraud/collusion. Adrian Clayborn, Mark Barron, Darrell Revis, Talib, Mason Foster, Michael Bennett are all players that could have stayed/developed with the team and ushered us into the playoffs by now. Instead you turn your anger to the one player who was good enough that even Mark Dominik couldn’t get rid of him. Don’t blame Gerald for years of bad front office decision making.

Also stop feeding the trolls Joe!

  44. Buccaneer scotty Says:

Blame the owners not McCoy! They have never got him help and when they did they ran him off Michael Bennett Etc.

  45. Patrickbucs Says:

    Exactly Eric.

If Sapp was on this team in the same period the defense would of still been bad, cmon dilusional people.

  46. Leon Brown Says:

The same people hating on GMC will be the same people wishing we didn’t let him go…. STFU and let him be great! I stand by GMC

  47. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    —————-

    Ding ding ding!!!!!

  48. BringBucsBack Says:

Brooks said that because McCoy competes at a high level, it’s all we can ask for. Sorry, that’s the type of coach-speak you give someone publicly and seems disingenuous. I don’t think Brooks privately believes that and I’m sure Sapp doesn’t.

Does anyone remember McCoy’s, Tim Tebowesque, “I’ve been told I have to be better this year and block out the outside voices; work harder than I ever did; this year is gonna be my greatest blah, blah blah….” rant last summer? Was he better, in anyway?

Mc is good yet, unspectacular. Yes, I and others expect(ed) more.

Someone said that Mc was this franchises’ best DT, ever!?!? Sapp may not be a good human being but, he was a faaar better football player and DT. No?

  49. webster Says:

    @ patrickbucs

I dont know if i agree with that. There was a standard that was set with sapp. For instance, players fined each other if the film showed that you loafed. Thats why you saw that defense flying to the ball. I can guarantee you there is no fines for loafs on gmc defenses. How many loafs do you see on sundays for years on his watch? Also, sapp fought chidi in the locker room because he felt he started to slack after he got paid. Gmc let swaggy come in here and play around. I am sorry but the bucs would not be the same. I am not saying they would be #1 like back in the day but they definitely wouldnt be 32 either. Sapp would set a standard like he did back in the day and this defense would be a lot better.

  50. NFLNut Says:

    ******************

I have NEVER typed one negative word about GMC but even I would TRADE him … not because of his play, as he’s a great player, but because of his salary and his age and the fact that this team has lots of holes.

I simply think if we could trade GMC for a 2nd and 3rd round pick we could get two decent players and then with GMC’s salary off the books, get another two decent free agents … I’d rather have FOUR solid starters than 1 GMC on a team with this many holes.

It’s the same reason that I would have traded Joe Thomas if I was running the Browns … and Suh if I was running the Lions … bad teams with just one big-time player are just wasting that player’s career and hurting their own team’s future in many cases.

Now, I’m not saying we can’t win with GMC if Licht signs the right free agents and drafts wisely again … but … I would definitely strongly consider a trade if the picks that come back and the cap space that is opened up results in us getting, for example Duke Ejiofor (2nd), Rashaad Penny (3rd), Justin Ellis (free agency) and EJ Gaines (free agency).

I mean, is there anyone that thinks GMC is more valuable to our team than Justin Ellis + EJ Gaines + Duke Ejiofor + Rashaad Penny would be? I doubt it.

    ******************

  51. NFLNut Says:

    ***************

I’ll clarify a little … if the Glazers are going to spend and they’re going to hold onto Gerald AND spend to sign another starting DE and CB and RB, great … but if they’re going to be conservative with their money and pass on free agency and just focus on the draft, due in part to GMC’s high salary, I would rather trade GMC if I could get back a starting CB and DT with the money saved in the GMC dump, along with a RB and DE in the draft, rather than ONLY having Gerald.

    ***************

  52. Clodhopper Says:

The deal with GMC is that he’s extremely talented, gifted and an athletic specimen but there is a but he’s also a beta and a leader. Betas do not make good leaders. Have you ever had a beta for a boss, forman, or team lead? They suck! They bring the rest of the team down. They don’t DEMAND excellence. They provide no accountability. And as far as I can tell, he already knows that and doesn’t really want to be a leader anyways. It was placed upon by Ronde. He gladly passed the torch to Jameis. He does like some perks like the interviews and the camera always in his face but when it’s crunch time, he’s absent.

So he’s a beta in leadership position so he’s not a good leader. And I’ll say for the one millionth time: There’s nothing wrong with that!! If everyone were an alpha we’d need no leaders.

  53. 813bucboi Says:

    nut

    I agree…..

at this point in his career he has more value on the trading block vs on the roster…..he aint in his prime anymore….

like you, its nothing personal just business….

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!!

  54. webster Says:

Hey and lets stop comparing mccoy to selmon. Selmon was nice off the field but was a terror in between the lines. He is a hall of famer and a former defensive player of the year winner. Mccoy has never been in the conversation for dpoy. He had his defense ranked #1. His bucs teams did go to the playoffs. It wasnt until culverhouse decided to be cheap and not pay doug williams did this franchise suffer. The mccoy and lee roy comparissons are totally off base.

  55. webster Says:

Why are all my comments being moderated?

  56. 813bucboi Says:

    clod

well then GMC needs to get in line and follow the young guns kwon and Winston….

you think his pride would allow that?….after being “called” a leader and face of the franchise, you think he’ll step aside and tell everyone on the team, kwon and Winston are the leaders…..we must all follow them point blank period…..

you think he’s willing to do that?

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!!

  58. Clodhopper Says:

    813

No. I think he likes the camera too much. But it should happen organically. Theres more than five guys on this team that are alphas and better leaders that should be voted captain over him. That would be a good start

  59. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    NFLNut

Well stated. Like you I am not a GMC hater…in fact if we did trade him I hope it’s to a good team so a decent human being can finish his career with good players around him. He would also have a rational fan base instead of some of our loons.

I guess my biggest question is do we believe we could get a 2nd AND a 3rd rounder for him?

  60. DB55 Says:

McCoy played with Bennett and Michael Johnson. Atkins played with Johnson. Atkins always in the POs GMC never once.

GMC has played with Bennett, Talib, Revis, LVD, Barron, Goldson, and more defensive players who have gone to the POs and or Superbowls on other teams. George Johnson and Akeem Spence, anyone anyone?!

GMC is highly talented football player sadly he’s just a little b1tch.

  61. NFLNut Says:

^ I think a 2nd and 3rd is possible from a desperate, title-worthy team that strikes out on a DT in free agency, especially since Vea and Payne will be drafted in the first round and not available to a team in the 2nd or 3rd round.

I may be over-valuing GMC though … and I don’t expect the Bucs to actually trade him, but we’ll see what happens.

  62. LakeLand Says:

If his is true, why are so many fans bragging about the job Jason Licht has done? This is his 5th draft…how many drafts does it take for him to get some decent talent on this team?

  63. Doug p Says:

Trade 93!!! He’s a total waste of talent.

  64. NFLNut Says:

^ Licht has been GREAT as a drafter and with UDRFA’s … he’s been bad in free agency though … Evans, Jameis, Kwon, Ali, Smith, Brate, Hump, OJ, Beckwith, Evans … that’s 11 starting quality players in 4 years …

  65. Bucsfanman Says:

    YAWN……….!!!!!
Yep, we’d be so much better off without him because we have….um…..Wait…… uh……..oh, that’s right NOBODY!!!!

  66. NFLNut Says:

^ Did you even read my posts … are you actually saying you’d rather have ONLY Gerald than Justin Ellis+EJ Gaines+Duke Ejiofor AND Rashaad Penny, all of whom the Bucs could afford and draft via trading GMC?

  67. JAB83 Says:

I am open to the trade talk because at the end of the day this is a business….

But to all you Trolls and to the troll feeder (who will not be named or my post wont show), STFU. You people are the reason this team sucks…

If you don’t think the 12th man has an effect its because you have never experienced a championship run with your team.

If you need proof of the effect…. Just ask Jeff Vinic and the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Grow a pair JBF posters… Who among us is the LEADER? Seeings how leadership is so important and all.

    Be a Fan of Inspiration….. ENOUGH WITH….. Being a Fan of Depression….

Let give the Joes a reason to change the label of our home turf….

So sick of the Den of Depression BS…. But he is right…. All of yall are desperate and depressed if you think we are better without GMC

Please dont delete this post too JOE!!!!!!!!!!

  68. LakeLand Says:

    NFLNut

Jason Licht hasn’t been that GREAT at drafting. The D-Line is the worst in the NFL. What GREAT D-Lineman Licht has drafted? Better yet….what GREAT defensive player has Licht drafted?

  69. LakeLand Says:

I don’t see any good UDFAs on the defensive side of the ball. Jason Licht has been good at building the offense. I would give him an D, for building the defense.

  70. JimmyJack Says:

McCoy articles always trigger the most comments. The McCoy will never go away neither will the McCoy defenders.

Personally I’m in the middle. You can win with a guy like McCoy. But you need a leader on that Dline…….Webster argued me the other day that maybe that leader doesn’t have to be on the line, maybe elsewhere. Maybe that’s true.

Either way, management needs to understand we need a true leader added to this defense. McCoy is not and never will fill that hole, shoot he basically admitted that himself talking about Talib and Bennett. But out FO has ignored this issue and the result has been a losers culture.

An answer needs to be found or we will never win squat. If Chubb is that answer then trade up for him. If he can instill a winning culture here it’s worth the price……If you need to make a blockbuster trade for that guy then get it done.

All I know is don’t just stand around with your hands on your hips waiting for McCoy to carry this team for greatness. It will never happen. But if you do get that guy in here demanding more of this team I know McCoy would be the first guy to follow the lead. You can win with McCoy doing his job(which is basically how I read Brooks comments).

At the end of the day all of us arguing about McCoy are the only losers, for wasting so much time over it. McCoy is the only winner, with solid gold as proof.

  72. ATrain Says:

    TRADE MCCOY

    HAHAHAH

    ARE y’all serious. To whom?

No one will take him with that contract Hed not that good

I would love to see Sapp play with McCoy
McCoy would be picking his teeth of the ground for helping up the other players and playing on the field like it’s a pick up game in the neighborhood

Anyone who hates on GMC is just a miserable person with nothing better to do.
Nothing but love and respect for the only true full time Buccaneer we have had sense the end of the original 4 horsemen (Brooks, Sapp, Lynch, Barber) and Alstott making it 5.

  75. Joel Says:

McCoy is so good that even when he’s hurt, the defense isn’t any worse. Hahaha

foolishness abounds. Joe, I’m sorry you have to deal with this nonsense all day everyday. Brooks is the GOAT. Sapp was dominant. GMC is an equal talent and has his best years statistically ahead of him.

    GO BUCS!!!

  77. Jeffbuc Says:

Us fans just realize waisted talent. I have seen a lot lesser athlete be dominant at that position due to straight will and heart. McCoy has neither of those. We know that he has the talent to be a dominant player. He just gives up a lot when I watch him. If he is doubled teamed just stands straight up and stops rushing like he did his job because he has two people blocking him. No we want a warrior who every play is giving it his all. He has a great jump(first step) that is it. if that fails and he gets blocked he stops. Give me suh all day long a guy that actually makes offensive lineman stay up late worrying about him at night. No going to bed early knowing they don’t have to get up on there own all game because mr. Softy will help them up all game and give up when they get there hands on him. Be a nice guy like Mr. Brooks off the field but on the field be a warrior. I compare him to LebRon with the injuries. It’s a on going joke every time he goes down flopping around like you think his career is in jeopardy he is back in the game in 2 plays. Like lebron rolling on the ground holding his head until his team gets a rebound then he jumps up cherry picks and dunks it like nothing ever happened. Soft no heart

  78. MTM Says:

McCoy is at best average. He is paid elite money therefore the Bucs cannot afford any other good/great D-linemen. There is probably many reasons he is kept on the roster. 1) Nobody will give Licht anything for him in a trade. 2) No good team wants to take on his contract. 3) The Glazers are in love with his off the field behavior (He keeps his nose clean unlike Winston).
