First Guy Who Should Be Launched

January 2nd, 2018

Well-rested Sunday night.

Maybe this week, maybe after the Super Bowl, Joe will write some stories on who needs to stay with the Bucs and who should have had their access cards to One Buc Palace already deactivated.

The guy who should have been banned from the facility the moment his car left today is offsides-jumping, belly shirt-wearing, practice-hating, kicker-heckling, tree-grinding , non-contact-football-loving, chicken-wings-grilling, playing-time-squawking, TV-cooking-star, half-sack Swaggy Baker.

Baker was basically acted Sunday night (see what Joe did there?). Baker had a grand total of nine snaps Sunday. Think about that. The guy has turned into such a slug and a louse that despite being one of the top free agent signings last offseason, he didn’t even break a sweat Sunday.

Joe proposed after the stunt in the locker room at Carolina a week ago, the Bucs should have just told Baker to go home and not come back, in part, because his contract after this season is no longer guaranteed and he’s virtually stolen money from Team Glazer by being such a non-factor.

Maybe he was too distracted and aroused from staring at one of the palm trees in the north end zone to focus on Sunday’s game?

Oh, and Joe will share more specifics of the Carolina hassle in the locker room now that he has heard it enough from Bucs who would know, and run it past others in the know for accuracy.

Swaggy either laughed or smirked about folks being upset about the close loss to Carolina, despite Swaggy’s offsides penalty on fourth down with the Stinking Panthers driving on what turned out to be the game-winning possession. The penalty gave Carolina new life.

Kwon Alexander went after Baker in the locker room because Baker copped a ‘tude with a smirk or a laugh concerning the loss and Alexander was going to set him straight. And just as America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston later said, he did not confront Baker, but he joined in the conversation. Jameis yelled at Alexander, (in so many words) go get him Kwon, the guy has been needing a beatdown all season.

Joe you know damn well the leader of the losing culture and undisputed FACE of the basement years cancer93 needs to be first bum let go…

  2. Bradentonbuc Says:

Good stuff to hear. Jameis should not have gotten involved that’s Kwons side of the ball but good on Kwon taking on a Vet. What a great waste cut Baker and retain Clinton Mcdonald

  3. Joe Says:

What a great waste cut Baker and retain Clinton Mcdonald

Those two guys cannot be more different.

One works his tail off, is the ultimate team-guy, does so much for the community and is a total class act.

The other guy basically thieves the Glazers out of millions, is all about “me,” doesn’t like to practice and has tree sex in public.

  4. D-Rome Says:

Chris Baker and Doug Martin should not have played a single snap in that last game. It says a lot about the current coaching staff. Little to no accountability.

  5. WyomingBucsFan Says:

    @joe’s

Baker is just one guy, you really think getting rid of this guy is going to make us better? Wake up you morons. THERE IS A REASON HE IS HERE!!! IT’S BECAUSE WE DON’T HAVE ANYONE BETTER!!!!!! Stop blaming the guy for getting paid.

  6. Mike Johnson Says:

Won’t make a lot of difference. The cancer will continue in the form of Defensive coaching.

  7. tmaxcon Says:

    joe

mcdonald can also not stay healthy… the community crap is just that crap. they are paid to win not host movie night while residing permanently in the basment… these guys are sports entertainers not role models and it’s certainly is not their jobs to raise other peoples kids. give me 100 sapps and you guys can keep the good in the community career losers like mccoy.

  8. tmaxcon Says:

Baker out played cancer93 most of the damn season but he is does not fit the snowflake agenda buc fan embraces…

  9. doolnutts Says:

I would cut Baker and Ayers both. I didn’t like Baker throughout the season and while I do like Ayers it is clear he is steeply declining. Entire DL needs a new look minus McCoy.

  10. Espo Says:

He made a tackle the other night. I think that brings his season total up to 1.

  11. Joe Says:

Baker is just one guy, you really think getting rid of this guy is going to make us better? Wake up you morons.

So the Bucs should troll the NFL for more guys who take millions from the Glazers to add to the roster, not practice, produce little to nothing on the field, become a cancer, spark locker room riots and fornicate with plants?

Might want to be judicious throwing around the word “moron” with a comment like you had.

  12. Joe Says:

mcdonald can also not stay healthy… the community crap is just that crap. they are paid to win not host movie night while residing permanently in the basment

Seem to recall the Bucs were worst in the NFL in sacks. Joe isn’t so sure the best way to remedy this is to run off a guy who actually gets sacks.

For McDonald, a rotational guy, to get five sacks at tackle is nothing to sneeze at.

Say what you will about dudes who are good in the community, but a team can generally trust and rely on these guys.

lol. What was baker’s sack total again please?

  14. Tom Edrington Says:

The guy who signed Baker should be forced to eat a poop sandwich…..that would teach him not to sign these thieves

  15. Bradentonbuc Says:

@Joe could not agree more with your take on Clint that is a man among boys and he’s got the hardware to prove it. Total effort play by Clint on that last sack. And the sad part is I can totally see Baker treating that Carolina game encroachment like it’s nothing, probably said something to the effect of ‘what, we are not going to the playoffs’. The snap count is very telling for Baker. Man Jason just can’t catch a break with free agents sans Clint, Grimes and too a degree Conte/McClain although i’d take the other twos production over those DBs

  16. Joe Says:

lol. What was baker’s sack total again please?

    “Half-sack.”

THE TAMPABAY BUCCANEERS ARE THE ONES WHO SIGNED HIM!!!
Now do you see the issue here????? Or do you need it illustrated on a grease board?

  18. Buc believer Says:

Not only will he be kept on the team but he will probably be the captain next year. Thanks Glazer boys.

  19. Deminion Says:

Baker is a joke, Ayers is washed can remember any play he has made this years. Gholston should be cut wonder if he had a cap hit dude declined he cant rush the passer and declined in the run game. McDonald is a player I like him plays hard shows up in game most of the time. Sign Bennett to a year deal I think he can still play. Draft Dline and Oline. worried about the secondary too

  20. Joe Says:

THE TAMPABAY BUCCANEERS ARE THE ONES WHO SIGNED HIM!!!
Now do you see the issue here?????

Yes, the very source of the problem: the slob that stole cash from the Glazers.

Might help to stop defending cancers/malcontents/losers/sexual deviates.

Go right a wrong and go get micheal Bennett

  22. Conte Piscatelli Says:

I also think Baker should have at least been deactivated for the final have, if only to free up a rooster spot to bring a practice squad guy like Stevie T in for the game.

  23. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Let’s keep Swaggy…..i really think his attitude is misunderstood…..I believe he has the potential to be a leader….he is much more productive than GMC…could move him to DE instead of drafting one….and he was a star on Hard Knocks…..what more could you want?

Why do you guys defend this organization?
Wouldn’t you guys sell more adds if we were winning? Yet you guys continue to support pure incompetents. Well good luck with that.

  25. Bradentonbuc Says:

Baker outplayed GMAC?? Unreal. Just unreal. Thank God these folks just post on the internet

  26. Joe Says:

Why do you guys defend this organization?

Why are you defending a turd like Baker?

As for “defending the organization,” apparently you don’t read this site enough. Hell, Joe got his ear chewed the other night by a Bucs suit for perceived anti-team bias.

  27. WyomingBucsFan Says:

    Let me say this @Joe’s

You guys are terrific and I really love this site.
The problem is you guys are in love with the GM and head coach. It’s amazing how you guys make stuff up. Why don’t you hit this link from over the weekend step into reality. –Joe https://www.joebucsfan.com/2017/12/status-woe-2/
I’m going to speculate that the bucs have given you guys unprecedented inside access to the inner workings of this team. I also speculate that has never happened before. This has completely jaded your prospective opinion about this team. I don’t blame you guys for this however. I would prolly do the same. Just try and remove the blinders for a minute and really consider the facts. Love Joe bucs fan. Thanks Joe’s.
Look, this site was built without official access and, frankly, would thrive darn well without it. In fact, it would probably do better with Joe being a little more “old school” Joe.–Joe

  28. Bobby M. Says:

It does say a lot when Kwon is the one getting into it vs McCoy…..IMO you have to trade McCoy simply to establish new standards/leadership within the locker room. When the highest paid guy on the defense is so laid back, teammates notice. I think McCoy will be more appreciated elsewhere and the standards on our defense will improve….That being said, you have to have someone to replace these guys with and that’s easier said then done. Both Baker and McCoy come off as guys that dont LOVE football but simply love the lifestyle football gives them. They are good at what they do, McCoy is better then most, but McCoy has been losing for a decade and has never seemed to mind.

  29. ElioT Says:

Wish Lovie’s dumba** would have never gotten rid of Mark Barron.

You know he’d be right there with Kwon ready to whoop Fatty Baker’s fat a**!

Coaches can only enforce so much, you need some bad a**es in the locker room to hold douche bags accountable.

You think anyone wanted to meet Sapp in the showers after playing a sh*t game, dogging it or giving up a game changing play?

You think anyone wanted to disappoint and get that look from 55?

You think anyone wanted to get chewed out by John Lynch?

    No…

McCoy and Lavonte are valuable and talented but they aren’t going to hold others accountable. Kwon can’t do it all by himself and we don’t need Jameis breaking a hand in a locker room brawl.

The Bucs need more talented, tough players who hate to lose and aren’t afraid to jump all over anyone who doesn’t pull their weight.

    Go Bucs!

  30. derrickbrooksforGM Says:

Baker has to go. I hope with that #1 pick they look for a future leader like they did with JW. Don’t just look at stats look at those all important intangibles like leadership, outspokenness, selflessness, work ethic, get a guy that faking beast but that will outwork everyone else on the defense and build around that guy. Someone like shaquem griffin.

  31. Dooshlarue Says:

    You nailed it Bobby M.

  32. WyomingBucsFan Says:

To clarify things i do not support Baker. Its the old story. A man finds a rattle snake half dead and takes the snake in and nurses the rattle snake back to life. Then the snake bites him and he begins to die. Then the man near death ask the rattle snake, “why did you bite me?, I nursed you back to life” The snake then replies “Because i’m a F****** rattle snake.

Thanks guys, my work is done here. Good day lol

  33. Brett Says:

I agree. But you still might be able to trade some of these guys. Baker might be tradable. But he definitely is one of the people you want to blame the season on.

  34. Bucsfanman Says:

Agreed Joe, fatty has to go. I’d say TJ Ward should be at the top of that list as well. This team has its work cut out for it in the offseason. We need to stop “gifting” contracts to lazy, unreliable malcontents and start doing our homework.

  35. Neil Says:

Some of Licht’s free agency moves have been disasters. It’s bizarre given his success (generally speaking) with draft picks. Anthony Collins, “Ghost” Johnson, Blobby Baker…not only were they paid a king’s ransom…they also had zero production and appeared to be toxic (to an extent where they even paid more money just so they weren’t around anymore). How can the evaluations be so off on some of these players?

  36. Mike Johnson Says:

Most of you are very funny. Missed your..comedic callings. Blaming certain players when the blame goes to ownership..coaching. many NFl teams..Yes in the playoffs are full of..no name players who pull their weight plus more. And their caoches..get it out of them. When I hear Defensive coordinator Smith speak? its like a nice fairy tale story. its like he’s sayin, leave me alone..let me continue to my pressbox perch high in the air to command my troops. Yet..YOU..fans sing his praises. This franchise ain’t going nowheres but the bottom of the division again next year. Sure Jameis will give us his ohhh and ahhh with a few..AMAZING throws..And you all will say, But we only lost by 3 or4..time and time again. And once again, The blame game will commence and continue! What a truly PITYFULL franchise.

  37. MCBucs88 Says:

This is why you cannot rely on free agents unless you are willing to pay TOP DOLLAR (Calais Campbell). This is the very flaw in Jason Licht’s usual strategy during FA (targeting second-tier free-agents in an effort to yield more value”)l with the same amount of $$$.

Hopefully, with one year left on their contracts, Licht and Koetter will wise up and stop targeting those second-tier “bargain” FAs. Maybe they could pull off a couple of trades and acquire a couple of playmakers on the DL & OL. And for he love of god Jason, STOP RELYING ON ROOKIES TO DO THE JOBS OF TEN YEAR VETERANS!!!

  38. Steve Says:

Whoever think Gerald McCoy sucks is an absolute fool. Watch the game tape. He’s double teamed every play. You don’t like him that’s fine, he’s still
Out best DL and it’s not even close!

  39. Buccaneer Bill Says:

No organization, or person, makes all the right decisions. I’m fine with the direction of this team. I also understand when my opinions differ from the team’s direction there are thirty-one other teams to choose from. Reading the pointless bitterness in these threads is entertaining, but it sure isn’t going to change anything the Bucs do.

  40. ATrain Says:

    Steve your right

But we have Baker on the DL and a loaf of bread is better than him

GMCs problem is his lack of passion and leadership
    He should have ripped Baker

  41. Howward Cosel Says:

  42. WyomingBucsFan Says:

Chris Baker and Doug Martin should not have played a single snap in that last game. It says a lot about the current coaching staff. Little to no accountability.

This is about as accurate as it gets folks and one of if not our main problem. Neither Baker or Martin should have even been on the team for Sundays game. It shows the players that even if you hurt the team badly (suspension and complete horrible running or lazy and jumping offsides) it doesn’t matter and you will still get paid, still maintain your spot and still get all the perks for being on this team. That is the 100% wrong message to send and until that is corrected none of us can expect this team to succeed no matter how much talent is on it. We have to have the correct people and players to win not just talent!

  45. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

Baker is for sure gone. My question is I do not remember if DJax is guaranteed for next season? I hope not cuz he is stunting Godwin’s development and he is the real deal. Hump is a good slot WR and we have the TEs. Get us a real RB to pair with Barber and a couple of OL and our offense is set. Then we can focus on our defensive issues

  46. Buccaneer Bill Says:

    @Wyoming
Attendance is only a small part, what rules is TV rights and revenue sharing. It’s not clear how much influence the media has over any NFL team. It’s a factor, but not necessarily decisive. For instance, the Glazers probably knew the fan base, via the media, would be unhappy, but retained Koetter despite the criticism. What’s just as true is how the media is manipulated by the teams to float agenda-driven anonymous reports. Many of those stories agitate the fan base to demand things the people anonymously contributing these reports want. This is most obvious during draft season, but it happens year round for what is essentially office politics.

You are right in that it is absolutely true the ONLY influence a fan has is through money, but one fan by himself is not going to change anything.

  47. El_Buc941 Says:

Joe when can we start talking draft and what is the best fit at #7?can you do a poll asking what or whom we should draft in the first round?

  48. D-Rome Says:

Wish Lovie’s dumba** would have never gotten rid of Mark Barron.

You know he’d be right there with Kwon ready to whoop Fatty Baker’s fat a**!

    Sigh…

Jason Licht traded Mark Barron for picks. Those picks eventually turned into Kwon Alexander and Ali Marpet.

  49. Rod Munch Says:

Joe is really defensive when it comes to palm trees… makes you wonder why.

  50. ChanEpic Says:

    D-Rome – Exactly.

I think the fact that it takes players to “get into it” with other players who seem to have a Devil May Care attitude about losing is THE problem with the current coaching regime. I wish them the best in all they do but they do not control the locker room and they instill 0 inspiration. That is why Jameis has to act a fool before every game. The LEADERSHIP DEFICIT IS THE PROBLEM IN TAMPA.

  51. mark2001 Says:

You might ask yourself why he thought he could get away with his half Ashed attitude in the first place? He got away with it from day one up till the final play of last Sunday’s game. You think most coaches would sit around and take what he dished out? There is the problem.

  52. Rod Munch Says:

Baker signed basically a 1 year $6-mil deal – and nearly everyone said it was a fanatic signing and if Baker played well the Bucs has him for another year at $4.5-mil. Those are not starter numbers when talking salary and it was a very low risk signing since the Bucs could/can get out of it after one year. This wasn’t a bad signing – it just didn’t work out. When you sign 2nd rate players on the cheap these are the results you expect. The issue isn’t with the signing it’s with the expectations of people that think you’re getting a good starting DT for backup money.

  53. Doctor Stroud Says:

Mr. Baker is a cautionary tale of bringing in free agents who have a reputation for bad practice habits. Money does not always motivate. #PaidFloridaVacation

  54. TheDailyCoroner Says:

Hardy Nickerson or Warren Sapp wouldn’t of taken any of that $h!t. They would have straightened out Baker real quick!
That’s what is missing from Gerald McCoy .

  59. Bradentonbuc Says:

@Rod fair point but in my estimation we’ve had better defenses with Clinton McDonald in the middle then with Swaggy in the middle and they both occupy that middle tier free agent you’ve described. There was no ‘Calais Campbell’ the year Clint was a free agent. That’s great what is called a severe misappropriation of money

As if we needed further proof that tmax is a clueless idiot who knows nothing about the game of football, here it is folks!

Tmax maybe you can volunteer to help coach pee wee football so you start to understand the very basics of the game. After that you can start watching high school and maybe in a few years move on to college and then the pros.

And maybe, just maybe by that point, you’ll have the slightest understanding of how the game works. Maybe.

  61. Jonzey Says:

With Noah coming back and drafting Chubbs it would help our DB’s out with a pass rush. We advantage about 1 to 2 sacks a game some games we didn’t have any that makes it hard on the Db’s.

  62. Jonzey Says:

    Who is tmax

  63. Jonzey Says:

I see who is tmax now you are right he don’t have a clue.

  64. Rod Munch Says:

Bradentonbuc – Clint has been a good signing and he clearly outplayed Baker this year. I’m not at all defending Baker’s play and I don’t have an issue if they cut they guy, my issue is with people thinking the Bucs were getting a pro-bowler at 1/3rd the cost and then they’re shocked when he wasn’t one. If Baker was a pro-bowl player at DT, he’d have gotten more than a one year deal.

But again Clint has been a solid mid-tier guy but is more of a rotation player – but he’s solid in what he’s asked to do.

  65. DB55 Says:

From what I recall it was 4th&3 from the 5 and after the penalty it was 4th&1 from the 3. I’m not sold that the penalty cost them the game.

In fact, Kwon had just given up 5 yards to Greg Olsen on the previous play. So glasshouses and what not. Do your job!

Furthermore, on the 4th&1 play its Baker who penetrates to stop Stewart short of the first down marker, if joe dirt hits his gap without hesitation it might be a different article we’re reading.

The next play is the root of the problem. Look who’s getting blown off the ball and watch who’s fighting thru a face mask. Watch the replays.

Here’s some perspective, on the very next play Kwann Short comes up with the huge sack to end the game and secure his victory. Don’t you wish our all-pro DT could do the same?
