Count The Penalties

January 4th, 2018

How many did you miss?

Yeah, the Bucs won the final game of the season. Pretty cool win. Driving 95 yards for the game-winning score. Beating the NFC South division champs.

Even got Sean Payton irked. That’s always a plus.

And as one can imagine, no help from the zebras, not that the Bucs need help from the zebras, but if they would actually open their eyes it might help.

Count the number of penalties the Saints made on the Alvin Kamara kickoff return.

Caution: Keep small objects away from you as you may be tempted to throw something.

I saw it. I was shocked that stood.

  2. Jarod Lauderdale Says:

I just watched 2 illegal blocks in the back no call penalities . why do these refs always happen to ” miss” these for our beloved bucs ? It’s actually pretty sickening especially with as many the call against us ! Here’s to hoping 2018 will change in a good way . hey Mike Evans , you can help us by learning to get open a little more by not pushing off so hard fully extending your arms. Try more hand checking and practice better route concepts instead of strength in the arms..we have alot of hard working moving forward correcting all aspects of our game & it starts with a ruff training camp!

  3. Mr. Ed Says:

Good teams overcome the penalties and tackle him anyway. The Bucs aren’t a good team. They are too soft, whining about being held or clipped rather than being tough enough to make a play.

  4. Pickgrin Says:

Saw the obvious block(s) in the back when it happened – but of course no flag.

This happens to the Bucs pretty much every game so I’m basically used to our team getting shafted week in and week out by the officials after all these years (decades).

  5. CalBucsFan Says:

Spotted 3 blocking behind the back penalties. How many in this video are there anyway Joe?

    CalBucsFan:

    Certainly two.

  7. Rod Munch Says:

I wanted the Bucs to lose to get the draft position so I was cheering on the piece of trash union refs for doing their normal terrible job. You have that play – the PI and holding on every single route Mike Evans ran. The blast PI on the pass to Humphries where he was being dragged down seconds before the ball got there. All the typical garbage you expect as a Bucs fan. I was really happy Jameis ignored Dirk and threw that TD to win since it really p/o’s all the jerkface Jameis haters – but still, I wanted them to lose to keep that #5 pick that everyone that needed a QB would be paying through their nose to get.

  8. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

I say 2 block in the backs. These and holds happen so often that they are basically subjective. I mean refs could almost call holding on any play so what makes them call it one and not another?
Make up calls? Punish player/coach? $$$?

Glad you finally mentioned this. Disgusting!

  10. The Buc Realist Says:

You can say that about the last 3-4 games!!!!!! Then you watch a later game on tv and looks like a whole different sport!!!!! I really have no idea what holding and pass-interference is in this league anymore!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!

  11. Bob in Valrico Says:

We gotta get better ,only hope I see is to get upper echelon refs and announcers on a regular basis.

    Thanks. Joe!

I think Goodell can be summed up by this: he request a $40,000,000.00 annual salary, but the NFL officials aren’t even full time employees.

Think about the quality of the game of the NFL Players were only part time employees too.

If the game wants to be improved, have the best officials in the world that are paid full time.

  13. Bucsfanman Says:

That game was just a microcosm of the entire season. Mike Evan’s frustrations this season were well founded IMO.
Guys, we are the Bucs. We don’t get the benefit of the doubt, let alone fairness.

  14. Cobraboy Says:

Without coaches film you cannot tell if those were penalties or not.

If initial contact is made to the front—which cannot be determined in that clip— and the player turns, it is not a penalty.

I’ll look at the coaches film for details.

  15. BucFanFromOH Says:

It wasn’t just this 1 play, it was the whole game. Hell, the last drive alone I saw at least 2 blatant PI no calls.

  16. Cobraboy Says:

The first one on Godwin was very marginal with initial contact was on the side of the shoulder pad before they are in the above frame. I can see why it was not called because a call would be picking nits. Maybe it was, maybe not.

The second one clearly was not a penalty because initial contact by two players was in the front, and the Buc player turned during contact.

  17. 813bucboi Says:

refs were trying to do us a favor by helping us secure a top 5 pick….we still screwed it up!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

Fans who can watch a play with their fan-googles off are few and far between on this site. Good breakdown Cobraboy.

  19. SB Says:

Lol……………Someone on the game thread told me to stop whining on that KO Return. I had already re-wound it a couple times and counted.

  20. SB Says:

Not only that I was proud of ME13 for not complaining more. After re-watching the game the refs missed several PI calls on Lattimore.

  21. James Walker Says:

I thought you could not grab a receiver with both hands and hold them outside of 5 yards? Lattimore did that at least once on that final drive.

  22. SB Says:

Also Jameis should have had 6 picks but the Saints LB’s cant catch.

  23. orlbucfan Says:

Reason Bucs won the SB back in 2003 is cos the players were coached that they had to beat the refs as well as the opposite team. Go look at the game films. Compare them to the Belicheat Patriots. BTW, Belicheat spied on the Dungy Bucs preseason back in the day. Same deal here but this DK offense is looking like a Dungy level defense. Time will tell.

Has anyone noticed that 8 of the 11 Bucs losses were to playoff teams
