“We Don’t Know Ultimately What It Is”

December 7th, 2017

Lacking clarity

The Bucs have issues and people across the country are pondering coaching changes in Tampa.

America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, addressed that today at One Buc Palace.

Jameis was asked how much he wants to keep consistency with players and coaches, in terms how how performance over the final four games can help preserve jobs and prevent change.

“I think it’s been a case of a lot of unfortunate events, in regards of how this season has went, in terms of injuries, in terms of a lot of different things,” Jameis said. “But again, it’s one game at a time. I love our coaches. I believe they have been doing a great job. And I always go by ‘coaches coach and players play.’ But again, we had a couple of injuries that probably set us back, a couple things here and there that probably set us back. We don’t know ultimately what it is. All we can control is what we do from here on out. Our goal is to win, and like I said, finish strong.”

Do you feel any added pressure because you know there are changes in this league when teams don’t win? Jameis was asked in a follow-up question?

“Absolutely not,” Jameis replied. “My job is to play quarterback. I’ve been playing quarterback for a long time. And hopefully I can continue to do that.”

Such is life when you quarterback a 4-8 team that has underachieved. Jameis loves his coaches and they are doing a great job, yet nobody seems to know exactly what the core problem is, or they’re just not saying.

There’s an easy fix to this.

Win.

Now. There’s enough juice on offense to outscore a couple of solid teams down the stretch.

While I don’t agree, Gerald appreciates your positivity.

  2. Kansas95Buc Says:

How about we adjust the plays to the strength of our players? Lets use OJ more in the redzone, lets use Godwin more in the slot, how about using Barber more, how about a bubble screen for DJax, how about letting Jameis run more??

  3. derrickbrooksforGM Says:

This team from Koetter on down has no idea what’s going wrong. Listen to the Lightning players after a loss. They will detail exactly where the breakdowns were and where they need to focus the next game to correct the issue. These Bucs are just stupid man.

  4. Redtop5588 Says:

    Kansas I agree 100%

  5. Jfgobucs Says:

I’ll tell…no damn defense and a inconsistent offense

  6. DBS Says:

But the Lightning is a winning organization. This is not. Go Bolts!!

  7. ShutTheBucUp Says:

We need a young, imaginative offensive minded coach with a solid vision (See Sean McVay) Who knows how to properly game plan and make adjustments when needed. And who also hired the most qualified candidate at the time to be his DC as opposed to hiring his buddy based on a ridiculous spit and shake agreement. That tells you right there that Koetter let’s emotion dictate his actions as opposed to logic.

We need a GM who is on the same page as the HC and drafts accordingly. They must SHARE a vision. If the HC wants to be a run heavy and strong defensive team that doesn’t put too much pressure on the QB then they should draft and pursue FA signings match that plan. We need STRONG leadership that knows what to do and when to do it (See Tom Coughlin/Jacksonville). The neglect that Licht has shown this defense is criminal. If Koetter goes, Licht needs to go too. After Lovie was jettisoned, their fates have been tied together. I will NEVER get over him wasting that 2nd rounder on Aguay-oh-no

Man we just need coaches and personnel that put the players and the franchise as a whole, in the best position to win and excel. This current crop has not shown enough promise.

How can you say there is enough juice on offense to outscore a couple solid teams, who are all kind of playing must win games down the stretch, when they have a hard enough time outscoring bad teams.

On paper there is. Being good on paper stopped mattering week 1.

  9. Lamarcus Says:

Feed me13 and go from there.

  10. Hawaiian Buc Says:

This has been truly an awful season. I definitely don’t give the coaches a pass, but sometimes things are just ruined from the jump and it’s hard to get it turned around. From Hard Knocks to the 16 straight games to the early injuries, we just haven’t been able to recover. If there were a coach out there that I thought was a slam dunk I would be all for a coaching change (love Gruden, but not 100% sold he’ll be successful with all that time off), but I just don’t see someone that I know is going to help us. I think if we can address the pass rush and OL, we could be significantly better very quickly. We have ignored those critical areas, and when you combine it with some of the previously mentioned unfortunate situations, your chance of success aren’t that great. If we look like this next year then I will be all for sweeping changes, but I think for next year we just need some tweaks, but not a complete overhaul.

Wasn’t that the idea from the very beginning of training camp? Doubt we win another game. Who would’ve thought we were gonna go 4-12 after ingesting all the Kool-aid JBF and the Tampa Bay media were serving up since this past April.
Who’s the fool? The person serving up the B.S. or the fans that keep lapping it up?

  12. OAR Says:

Excuses excuses excuses blah blah blah
Shut and throw better and hold onto the damn football….heck it’s even shaped like breasts on both ends.

  13. Hawaiian Buc Says:

“heck it’s even shaped like breasts on both ends.”

I really need to look at a football a little closer.

  14. Mike Johnson Says:

Every GD yr its..Finish strong. Won’t cut it. Any team out od the playoffs can..Finish strong. I won’t give you a nickel for the finish. Move up in the draft and put ourselves in a position to Draft Chubby. This coaching staff does not make good in game adjustments at all. And I don’t see that light..that enthusiasm on this team. Excuse me guys..Honey, what are we drinkin for the Bucs game to..numb the pain!!

  15. Tony from Los Angeles Says:

    It’s as simple as this…

Koetter either gets creative and unleashes the playbook, let’s Jameis run free and improv, and utilizes guys like Barber, OJ, and Godwin… or he keeps doing the same thing, gets the same results, and gets ousted.

  16. bkbuc Says:

Do breasts feel like sandbags to you too, OAR????

  17. OAR Says:

    See there’s your problem… You added a f#&k, that I didn’t give.

  18. AceofAerospace Says:

I’m sorry. I’m not rooting to go 6-10. Tank it and start over. There’s no moral victory in the NFL.

  19. AceofAerospace Says:

I clearly remember “the race for Jameis”. Joe didn’t want us to win a meaningless game and miss out on the number one pick. I’m there now, let’s get the best pick possible for the new coaching staff.

  20. Jarod Lauderdale Says:

Oar your hilarious !_go bucs !

  21. Defense Rules Says:

@Jameis … “We don’t know ultimately what it is.” HINT: Mediocre talent, mediocre leadership, mediocre coaching & mediocre management. Common thread? Mediocre.
