There Should Be Friction

December 10th, 2017

Should be PO’ed.

So, earlier today, Ian Rapoport had a report on NFL Network that there is growing friction between America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, and Bucs coach Dirk Koetter.

If one is to believe that, Joe has to be honest, after a day like Jameis had today, does anyone blame Koetter if he’s PO’ed?

Today was simply a cluster. Jameis was terrible protecting the ball. He had two picks and a fumble. That is horrible!

On his fumble, Jameis said, “I don’t have eyes in the back of my head.”

Koetter should be incensed. That kind of crap from Jameis is going to get good men fired. Jameis had an awesome drive on the second possession and looked to have another going on the third possession when O.J.Howard got jacked up and fumbled. From that point until late in the third, it almost looked like Jameis was throwing the game.

So, is there friction between Jameis and Koetter? There ought to be!

Please stop with the assault on America. Winston isn’t even the best QB that plays in Florida

  2. BuckAnEar Says:

Pot. Kettle. Jameis was extra horrible today, but most of the plays Koetter called belonged in high school. So flush them both and just about everyone else on this recidivist loser team.

  3. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Pfft. Koetter is clueless, predictable and has no right to be mad at anyone but himself.

Only a certified non genius could struggle to score points with this group of players.

  4. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

Jameis throwing a game intentionally? Absurd.
Please stop making one player another excuse for the losing head coach.

  5. Bculaw Says:

I disagree on the fumble, Joe, but I’ll go back and rewatch the play. Looked like Jameis was in the process of trying to escape the pocket and the defender simply made a good play on him from begind. Not the same boneheaded variety as last week. The second pick, however, is another story even accounting for the hold on OJ.

  6. Rrsrq Says:

The interception Jameis threw when trying to hit O.J. Howard, he saw the holding and trying to draw attention to it, but refs weren’t having, but still a terrible play. They both are right, if we the fans know what’s coming, sans the tackle catching a TD pass, the other team also know. But DK can’t trust Jameis to throw an accurate pass or not make a stupid play

  7. Bucs Sam Says:

    Not best QB in Florida?

He’s the second best QB on the Bucs.

  8. Fire the glazers Says:

I’m tired of players acting like arseholes to the coaches. The last decade of players has a real problem with being told what to do, despite the fact that they get payed to do exactly that… that’s why coaches get fired because they tend to ask all the good players to do more than they are capable, and show loyalty to crappy players… Koetters gotta go… no question, he has pooped the bed, but Jameis needs to grow the EFF up and start showing a little respect for the guys above him… I do t see Koetter throwing interceptions, or fumbling or OVERTHROWING two of The beat Wideouts in the NFL by a mile…

  9. AlteredEgo Says:

“On his fumble, Jameis said, “I don’t have eyes in the back of my head.”

    cockroaches do….

  10. darin Says:

Jameis digression is on dirk, no doubt in glazers mind. Thats why dirk was kept around. Now he is toast. Jameis wil be fine, dirk is lost. Adios

  11. JimmyJack Says:

Best news of the day I say. Team needs to be divided so that the orginazation can choose a new direction…….I am for sure not on board with watching this team just stay the course which is in a full-on downward spiral.

One of two decisions need to be made IMO. You either change QB or HC.

  12. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Also the 1st pick Jameis threw today was on Desean Jackson. That dude didn’t even pretend to fight the DB for position. Just sat there lazily and let the guy jump right in front of him.

  13. tmaxcon Says:

there should be executions not friction

  14. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

    Well done, AlteredEgo

  15. Brion Says:

By popular demand – I am bringing it back- clap*clap*, clap*clap*clap- Byron Leftwich!

  16. Desanova Says:

He can’t simply turtle up on every play to protect the ball. That’s not winning football either. And on the first INT, DJax was giving a poor effort on the route and looked surprised the ball was coming. On the second, OJ was either held or should have fought through whatever that was to continue the route.

  17. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

With all these picks it doesnt look like jameis has eyes in the front of his head either

  18. JimmyJack Says:

Maybe Koetter is just not good at dealing with today’s player.

It’s not the easiest thing to do. Not everybody can do it. Not like Dirk has ever been in this position before and we can say he has that ability.

Relating with players makes a huge difference in the league and it’s most likely why we see players leave our subpar coaching all the time only to thrive elsewhere.

  19. NJBucsFan Says:

We tanked the wrong season. Wentz of Goff would have been better for the team.

  20. NJBucsFan Says:

    Or*

  21. JimmyJack Says:

Desanova…….Are you accusing one of Dirks players on not giving maximum effort on that play? Blake accused DJax of the same thing on another play.
That make three players today accused(Grimes by Joe on another page).

That’s the difference between contending teams an uncompetitive teams. It’s a reflection of coaching but also the front office for bringing in field generals to lead on the grass.

  22. Bird Says:

He doesn’t have eyes in the front of his head either

  23. Suck-a-neers SMH Says:

The fans will tell the Glazers loud and clear everthing they need to know when Gruden is inducted. The crowd will stand and cheer louder than the cannons firing on Sundays. Dirk is done. If by some miracle the powers that be can convince Gruden to come back and recover this sunken pirate ship from the depths of Davis Jones’s Locker and has the stones to truly purge the organization this time we maybe we tired and downtrodden fans will have a football team in a couple of years. This next game will finally get me to dust off my season tickets (I can’t even give them away at this point sadly) and stand for our future or potential future at least. This will be the biggest story (albeit sad for our organization) next week…a mutiny is afoot lead by the fans…bring back our Gruden. Anything less than the current regime waking the plank and you might as well move this franchise to Somolia.

  24. not there yet Says:

Is this a joke!!! Who wrote this trash article and actually have the nerve to say it look like a platters was throwing the game? Why not report what was actually said…. What a trash article and your obviously paid under the table by dirk….. Nothing about how predictable the offense is or bad game plans and in game decisions by the coach? The bottom line is even if it’s all true it’s easier to get rid of dirk than Winston and truth be told if you can’t get a quarterback to shore up his ball security your not coaching him or just not much of a coach. Plus they said Winston felt he was basically thrown under the bus and want supported in regards to the shoulder injury….. Trash next time you write this trash try making it a two way article because I heard Winston is the one just as frustrated with the coaching and considering everyone is who a fan is them I think it’s true

  25. The Anomaly Says:

    They both can GTFO town

  26. Easy Says:

Let’s see how Gruden acts Monday night

  27. lightningbuc Says:

Koetter and Jaboo – these two clowns deserve each other.

  28. Issic Haggins Says:

Winston has gotten extreme pressure more times than any QB over the last three years , Koetter and Licht have not a clue as how to protect a franchise QB ……. Winston played fine today but he wants to win and when your head coach is so f ing stubborn as to start a guy and give him 10 carries at which point he averages 2.6 yards a carry ,well your going to have a QB trying to win the game , simple as that !!! Why don’t we try having a back Avg 5 yards with 15 carries in the first half and see how Winston plays !!!

Winston hasn’t had a running game or Good O line since he has been here and he’s a gamer and wants to win so this is what’s going to happen !!!

I have no problem with Winston today he played good and of coarse tried to win the game himself , well that’s the only way this no running game w Doug Martin team can win !!! AND that’s on Koetter , What an Idiot !!
    .

  29. FFS Says:

Crab legs defenders unite! This is comical that they even still exist..oh wait…..we did have a Glennon mob..so makes sense

  30. JimmyJack Says:

@Issic…….Apparently the Bucs brass disagreed with you. That’s why they didn’t address the running game at all in the offseason and blew their wad on Djax(still waiting for that to produce results).

It’s just more evidence that this regime has no idea how to build a winning football team.

  31. NJBucsFan Says:

    @ issac

This website has Winston ranked 28th in percent of plays he faced pressure.

    http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2017/quarterbacks-and-pressure-2016

Your comment is completely made up

  32. NJBucsFan Says:

And his pressure rate improved this year.

    http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/qb

  33. NJBucsFan Says:

JimmyJack. The stats disagree with him.

  34. AceofAerospace Says:

The first step in losing your team is not performing. The second step is blaming your teammates. Check and check.

  35. JimmyJack Says:

NJ…….I should correct you because Issac said over Winston’s career and your first chart just shows 2016. That chart also shows Winston faces a lot of pressure so I think you misread it.

  36. Ndog Says:

At this point I hope we do get rid of Jamies so he can go somewhere else and show you idiots how clueless you all are. Go ahead run the ONLY positive thing on this team out of town. Plus I am sure all you want us to start Fitz cause he is the man right? Even Joe is now turning on Joe. Think about this, on that first pick we are running a play action roll out on 2nd and 9? Who in their right mind would fall for that? And of course it was the same call they always run on that play with Hump coming across the formation and was covered, cause they knew it was coming, and D Jax runs a half a** route and then late Evans was coming open but of course Jameis was running out of room. So everyone wants him to throw it away and set up the great oline that we have to protect on 3rd and 9? Wow that sounds like a ton of great things to come. How about draw or a screen on 2nd and 9 but know lets cut the field in half on a play they know is coming, brilliant coaching right there. Setting the kid up to fail is more likely than Jameis throwing the game Joe.

  37. chickster Says:

Joe just cant admit this coach is over his head wow

  38. nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

Keeping it simple…when Dirk was Jameis’s OC only…it was WOW! Then, Dirk became head coach
and JW and the offense suffered!

Still keeping it simple stupid…who failed Jameis or Dirk? JW was and still is the young QB Dirk was hired and promoted to develop! Lovie was fired to keep Dirk for Jameis, don’t get it twisted..so how can Jameis be the coach killer…maybe the coach has been ‘Fameis Jameis’ killer!

  39. NFLNut Says:

So, you mean Jameis can’t turn the ball over 3 times, play horribly (he actually played very well with a near 90 rating and 67 QBR which is very, very good) and still win ala Matt Ryan? Hmmm … perhaps the problem is the TEAM is not even close to a good TEAM?

  40. RandomBucFan Says:

Anyone with a fraction of a working brain should know Jameis is very talented, worth the 1st overall pick and MORE… however, his play has been far FAR below what he is capable of. That is on the coaches, because it’s not just Jameis, but Doug Martin, Mike Evans, Desean Jackson, the OL, everybody on that offense is majorly under performing.

Too many mental mistakes, finger pointing, lack of attention to detail, frustration with each other and the coaching staff–that is all clear. People can’t face facts and that is that Koetter was given credit last year for what Lovie had spent 2 years scrapping and rebuilding into the trajectory of a winner.

Koetter is an OC, not a HC. PERIOD. He can’t handle the grit and guts that come with the being a HC. As a HC, all that’s done is taken away from his coordinator prowess.

  41. sumo Says:

Jameis is what he is and that will never change. He can’t throw anything over 20 yards accurately. He does not

  42. sumo Says:

protect the ball. Either move on or work how to work within his abilities. Short passes rolling out and short drop backs/ no time to think is when he is good. Do that with him and win some ballgames. Other wise we will continue to lose.
