Jameis: Blame Me, Not Line

December 3rd, 2017

Shoulders fault.

Yes, the Bucs really did play with a makeshift line on offense.

The Bucs learned Sunday prior to the game that Joe Hawley couldn’t go because he was too ill. So Evan Smith had to play center instead. America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, said it had been a year since he took a snap from Smith in a game or practice.

So in his postgame press conference, Jameis twice referred to the offensive line has “dominant.” That just wasn’t so.

In the storied 98-year history of the Green Bay Packers, only once have they recorded eight sacks in a game. They had seven today, (and think of some of the defensive linemen who have played for the Packers, some of the all-time greatest) Reggie White and Willie Davis were not on the unfrozen tundra today.

So Joe asked Jameis how he could label the offensive line dominant when the Packers virtually ate their cheese curds in the Bucs’ backfield.

Yes, Jameis was correct about the run blocking. Peyton Barber had 102 yards rushing, the first 100-yard game on the ground for the Bucs since Jacquizz Rodgers had 154 yards at San Francisco last October. But the pass blocking?

Jameis couldn’t criticize the offensive line. And wouldn’t. Jameis noted that a lot of the heat came because he held the ball too long on some plays. Jameis also said this was not the starting offensive line and the Bucs were playing mix-and-match on short notice.

Still, Joe gives Jameis props for trying to shield his offensive lineman. But seven sacks against a normally toothless pass rush from the Packers? Fully unacceptable, short of a kid from Alonso High School playing up front for Tampa Bay.

  1. Dewey Selmon Says:

We are blaming you Jameis, this is the one that cause your coach his job.

  2. tmaxcon Says:

don’t worry jameis you will be blamed while the mentally weak and beyond soft defensive captains get yet another free pass for laying down quicker than a cheap date and blowing another lead in the 4th qtr. face of the basement years cancer93 and his pansy arse defensive comes through again.

  3. Matts17 Says:

OL was terrible in pass pro but believe me Winston we’re still blaming you too. You are not a good quarterback.

  4. AlteredEgo Says:

Ok I’ll admit Jameis is not an NFL QB …. sorry # 3 leg humperz

  5. Frank Pillow Says:

Jaboo has the footwork of a just born- three-legged giraffe. Much of the wibble-wobbled pocket was all on him. BUT Benenoch was a turnstile. Evan Smith couldn’t keep his hands inside and the rest of the group flat out stunk up the joint pass blocking. Heck there were some pretty terrible misses in the screen game too. Total busts. This team flat out sucks at every level.

  6. Roy T. Buford Says:

Can we please start over…again, this time drafting a QB who might lead the team, that has no sex allegations and go from there?

Can we start with a guy who has a clean slate? I hate my football team. Hate it. Winston, Evans, Doug Martin, Djax, Swaggy.

First time in 41 years. I’m used to bad players. Guys that just aren’t good but that try. But I can’t tolerate players that think they do their own thing bigger than the game.

Yeah, I can’t prove it now. Not accusing the man. But plenty of info is out there..for me. Jameis looks to be me as a BS artist thug. Knows just what to say to BS his handlers. Just enough for the to fall in love. So….fire them too. In fact, he just got his whole coaching staff fired today. Rightfully so. Going into next year with a six game suspension hanging over our QB’s head. With his play today. Same old Jameis. The old “I got to get me my team to play better. On me.” Yes, on you. Move on from Jameis. Can I ask a basic question. The Bucs had the one overall pick. Yet we don’t have a Drew Brees, Matt Ryan, Matt Stafford, Sean Rivers, Aaron Rodgers, or even Alex Smith. Geeze. What is common among those guys? What is common? Hmm….

  7. lightningbuc Says:

Jason Licht is decent at plucking the low hanging fruit, i.e. first and second round picks. He is God awful at assembling depth. He needs to be fired!

  8. tmaxcon Says:

jameis aint going nowhere you delusional defensive first haters… no matter how much you moan. what is funny jameis has probably already scored more touchdowns or is damn near close to scoreing more td’s than that ignorant has been dungy you worship did during his entire FAILED bucs tenure.

  9. Architek Says:

Jameis has regressed and I’m concerned about this is who he is – wreckless with the ball.

He’s a cool kid on the field but man I don’t see it.

He looks like he’s not as focused and he’s all show – not the details and execution.

  10. Bucnut2 Says:

O-line was bad in pass-pro today but let’s not forget pass-pro was STELLAR in the rest of the games Winston started this year and yet in those games he still was: a terrible decision maker, inaccurate, fails to the see the field and is a TO machine.

  11. Roy T. Buford Says:

Jameis: One question cuz: Who was the third guy in the cab? You want to sell your team and fans out…do it. Keep it up Bro. We are onto you. Don’t come back, chump.

  12. tmaxcon Says:

jameis will go down as the most important buc in team history. obviously he does not have much competition outside of leroy since the other legends were underachievers under the one dimensional ignorant dungy… 2 playoff wins in 6 years is embarrassing with that defense not glory years. but that being said that super bowl will be the last meaningful win in franchise history so let’s thank gruden once again for cleaning up that mess dungy left and winning the last meaningful game in franchise history.

  13. Roy T. Buford Says:

Jameis is a thug BS artist. Let’s not fool ourselves. He is total BS. From Erica to Uber…to talk on tables to crab legs. I have supported this guy the whole way. His line this week of “No Fearr” and his play today….no reason for this team to stick with him. MOVE ON from JAMEIS. BS ARTIST! Loser.

  14. JimmyJack Says:

Was I the only one who saw a QB running for his life all day? It sure feels that way. I wasn’t happy he made that fumble but it’s only realistic to expect stupid mistakes when your QB get sacked 8 times knocked down 15 and hurried on every completion. He was also forced to throw the ball away and bail out on several plays.

The goal is to contend in this league and that will never happen when you can’t nullify good pass rushing teams…….and don’t tell me about injuries because the same thing happened at home in a big game with the Panthers.

This offensive line sucks weekly and Dirk calls the game like he has Aaron Rodgers line or Payton Manning’s line…….He’s not adjusting to the team he has and he is a bottom tier coach. He doesn’t know his own team, heck Joe knows more about the team then Dirk. He only been saying MARtin is rubbish for two years now.

Our coach sucks and he doesn’t know his own team.

Dirk is lucky he has a young QB because if he put a Tom Brady or an Aikman in a position to lose like this you would see some heated anger on the sideline………BTW I’m sure our Oline wasn’t to happy about their coaching showing no confidence in them with 1st and goal inside the 5. They were getting push in the run game and I guarantee they were hungry to get a couple run calls down they……Dirk does more harm then good to a team he doesn’t understand.

  15. Bird Says:

    Tmaxacon

Dude. Please send me your address and I will contact an ambulance immediately. Jameis will go down as the most important buc in team history. Oh my gosh. Thanks so much for the laugh. I just cramped my pants I was laughing so hard. That is hilarious.

You da man. And again. Thank you. Get well soon. Maybe joints for breakfast aren’t smart.

  16. tmaxcon Says:

    Bird

you have been around long enough to know I have NEVER ONCE BEEN WRONG…..

thanks for the well wishes. this jameson is for you sir.

there is nothing better than waking and baking at altitude sir. it is what makes me see things so clearly pertaining to our hopeless bucs.

  17. Sweep the leg Says:

    @tmaxcon

    Never been wrong?

    Lmao what an idiot!!!

Go back to your mommas basement boy!!

Smoke pot and collect your check leech

  18. NFLNut Says:

    *******

Jameis looked very good, as he always does when he’s healthy, but the Bucs should have lost to the Jets and Phins on purpose to get a higher pick … but hey, it could be worse, Tampa could be stuck with Mariota at QB, a guy who has more picks than TD’s and has to be literally carried by his running game and defense to victory … the Bucs future is still brighter than most teams … I just wish they played in the weak AFC South instead of the murderous NFC South

    *******

  19. NFLNut Says:

    ******************

Jameis is the consummate team leader … he always takes the blame and never criticizes any of his teammates no matter what … he’s also the type of QB that will dive on the ground and fight a DL on a fumble in a meaningless game … basically, he’s the anti-Cam Newton.

  20. Big Scott 55 Says:

Bird your an idiot . I exactly what would happen if the Bucs ownership listened to idiots like you you. James will go to another team and will watch him win a super bowl for some one else… retard!!!!!!!

  21. Big Scott 55 Says:

    Jameis*

  22. tmaxcon Says:

    Sweep the leg

another butt hurt mccoy nutthugger i see… trying being a fan of a winner versus a career losing POS

  23. BringBucsBack Says:

What did Jameis learn by watching Fitz?

Who taught Jameis to throw the ball while falling or once crossing the line of scrimmage?

    RGIV please!

  24. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    I really hate Tampa fans…

…okay, so here’s the real deal: Jameis made some mistakes, yes, but all of them, and I mean ALL of them were the result of horrible offensive line play. There is no denying that outside of the first drive, the oline did absolutely nothing for Jameis.

And yet we still took it to overtime.

And the defense???? Pathetic. The announcers tried to paint a pretty picture on them, but the truth is the defense was the worst this team has had in 15+ years. The overtime was the perfect example.

This Packers team did everything wrong to lose this game…and they still beat us. Blaming Jameis is stupid. He’s a gunslinger and they take risks. But he would have taken far fewer risks if the offensive line had given him at least a little time. They didn’t.

How many times did they come up the middle and hit him? Blame that on Smith. Good thing he’s not our regular backup.

  25. Tee in Dallas Says:

The hate for Jameis is real….he isn’t going anywhere. The pass blocking was atrocious today. I guess that happens when you are missing some starters. That fumble was costly. Later in the game he took the sacks while protecting the ball. But they still should have won this game. The defense in overtime…smh….this has been one of the most disappointing years ever.

  26. nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

    @ NFLNUT
Man, these posters (posters cus they can’t be ALL fans) really get under my skin…they piss and moan like they’re a line of perfect fantasy style QB’s out there…and you can twinkle your nose and create all perfect plays…and the other 31 teams doesn’t have struggles…smh..

There are no gurantees in high draft picks…just let the Bucs play…their best…smh…there is a lesson in learning to compete.

Gosh Buc up…we are on the same journey that other teams has had to overcome…winning season last year with a less than stellar team, losing season this year on an identity quest so just BUC UP!!!

  27. Roy T. Buford Says:

Jameis drama. Not worth it. Kick him out.

  28. Season Is Over Says:

You know you things are bad when even Joe Flacco mocks you.

  29. JimmyJack Says:

Agree Bonzai…..Winston is expected to carry because he was a #1 pick but do these fans even care about what type of team they are expecting him to carry?

We all Want him to carry us to the playoffs and beyond but you need a good team around him for that to happen……………You surround a #1 pick with a bad team and you’re going nowhere no matter how the QB plays.

We are bad top to bottom starting with coaching and those that are obsessing about QB play are missing the big picture IMO.

I can care less who the QB is right now I like to worry first about how this franchise ever expects this team to contend with so much horrible play from different areas of the game.

  30. JimmyJack Says:

Well I don’t agree about hating Tampa fans hahahaha……just everything else.

  31. Roy T. Buford Says:

    Bonzai. love our heart, man.

Jameis. One stupid, predictable, constant play from Jameis. Let’s pitch the ball to a defender when it’s clear the play is over. Let’s do someting stupid. Year 3. No learning. No fear. No fear. No fear. Sex allegations. No fear. Same old stuff.

This is a chump who doesn’t learn from anyone. On or off the field. He is better than everyone. Knows more than they do. Talks stuff to make people think he hears them.

The rules don’t apply to Jameis Winston. Pretty good idea he’s stopped listening to his coaches. Thinks he knows more. Maybe he does. But here it is.
Throw Jameis Winston out with the trash. He is. And he is going nowhere. Do we spend our whole off season listening to this piece of crap and his lack of development and latest sex crime allegation? Or do me move on? Move on.

  32. Jarid Murchie Says:

Nole fans quick to defend the second rate QB..guy needs to eat W’s and crab legs somewhere else

  33. Tmax has lost it Says:

If we can pick one of the top QB’s in the first round maybe we can dump Jameis on some other desperate team for a late # 1

  34. Cgmaster Says:

JUST reading some of these responses shows the stupidity of most Bucs fans. Jamies was hit on nearly every other drop back and gave this team a lead when it needed it. Ofcourse the defense folds and allows the tying fg along with a straight td in overtime. But our uneducated mouth breathers will blame Jameis no matter what. I hop at this point he does go to another team so I can watch Bucs fans bitch about the next guy under center. Half of them are still losses that we didn’t draft the turnover machine mariota.

  35. admin Says:

If we can pick one of the top QB’s in the first round maybe we can dump Jameis on some other desperate team for a late # 1

Can tell you unless something pops up in the Uber case, that simply is not going to happen and that comes from the very highest reaches of One Buc Palace.

  36. NFLNut Says:

    **********************

Jameis is the new 2Pac … people either love him or hate him … and I love it!

By the end of this season, Jameis will be the ONLY QB IN THE HISTORY OF THE NFL to throw for 11,000 yards … and likely the ONLY QB IN THE HISTORY OF FOOTBALL to throw for at least 69 TD’s … and Jameis-haters wish Tampa had Marcus “game-manager” Mariota behind center, hoping a great line, dominant running game and good defense will bail him out every game, while he tosses more INT’s than TD’s on the year … loons!

    *******************

  37. nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

    @Roy
Really feel sad for you, maybe you are tooooo dialed into Jameis and only see the trees.
I am so glad everyone has an opinion because INMHO if you look at Dak no running back and he’s not that QB he was crowned the years prior, Brees with all his accuracy is only being successful now that his TEAM has improved, not just with talent, but playing complimentary football, Mariota is being saved because of a running game, while meanwhile he is throwing interceptions left and right.

BUCS NEED A TEAM, NOT A SAVIOR
    😲😤SMH!!!!!!

  38. NFLNut Says:

    ********

    ^ 11,000 yards & 69 TD passes … BEFORE his 24th birthday …

    ********

  39. NFLNut Says:

Dak is NOT a real QB … he’s a gimmick game-manager … in the 4 games without Zeke he’s put up 602 yards, 2 TDs and 5 picks … that works out to 2,408 passing yards, 8 TDs and 20 INT’s over a full season … that is far worse than Tim TeBow or even a guy like Geno Smith!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  40. Sweep the leg Says:

    @tmaxcon

And just what exactly has mr winner won?

Nothing but a losing record like the rest of the team. He’s no different.

Winston hasn’t won anything in the NFL. He’s only won the starting position out of default.

  41. Roy T. Buford Says:

    @NFL nut: 11,000 yards & 69 TD passes … BEFORE his 24th birthday …

Two of three losing seasons, zero playoffs, two sex crime allegations.

Looks like a thug to me. Looks like a loser to me.

  42. Roy T. Buford Says:

    @nole4JabooANDdBucs

Forest throught the trees you say?

Brees and Mariota…your example, don’t have sex allegations against them and history of not getting better…but more of the same.

The Bucs don’t need a savior. I agree. They do need a QB who can be an honorable guy from Day 1 who doesn’t make people wonder inside and outside the white lines.

The Bucs blew on this one. Cut this chump loose.

  43. Me? Says:

Jameis is either an elite QB with awful luck, or he’s the biggest bust in the history of the NFL on these boards. He’s a really talented 23 year old QB who hasn’t put it together yet. We were all sold the narrative that he was going to be the savior immediately and it hasn’t happened, frustrating but you can’t give up on him at this point.

  44. Eric Says:

  45. Eric Says:

Brad Johnson can breathe easy now knowing he will remain the best ex- Nole to put a Bucs’s jersey on. On second thought I don’t think he ever had a thing to worry about.

  46. Skipper Says:

Amazing those who beat on Winston. He played well today under extreme pressure. Another website has him listed as one of the most impressive and rightfully so. 2 TD’s, 270 yards, no int’s and a QB rating at 108 and all while under enormous pressure. He played with heart and toughness today, I was impressed.

  47. Eric Says:

I think the 10 to 12 Buc fans in the whole world who actually think JaMISS is good all come to the same message boards to defend him. I say that because I live in Tampa and I can’t find a single person who thinks he is actually worth a spit. Everyone seems to think he is garbage.

  48. Eric Says:

Fitzpatrick would have won the game and you all know it deep inside. And it’s eating you alive……rofl

  49. Eric Says:

    * Winston continues to be plagued by fumbles, and that’s a problem because he should know better after 41 starts. He has fumbled 26 times as a pro, losing 11, and when you add 39 interceptions, that makes 50 giveaways. Unless you’re Brett Favre, that’s too many turnovers and an unacceptable burden on your teammates to bail you out.

  51. Skipper Says:

32 pass attempts, sacked 7 times and hit 13 other times. 20/32 or hit 62.5% he dropped back to pass and still had 270 yards, 2 TDs, no int’s and a 108 passing rating. No chance we would have won with Fitz.

  52. Reach87 Says:

Rats try to blame the QB for that loss? Sad.

  53. George Says:

    Vanilla Ice. Wannabe thug.

What do all of these people have in common, Satchseven? THEY ARENT BLACK.

Disclaimer: I, myself, am not judging Jameis until all facts are in. I’m just tired of chickenspit race-baiters like yourself.

You don’t get to label every word used to describe one of your heroes as racist just because you want to be an apologist for bad behavior. Don’t want to be labeled a thug? Don’t behave like one. That simple. Facts are not racist.

“Thug” is an adjective that can be applied to anybody who displays criminal behavior. Try a dictionary some time. And quit being so dang sensitive. You’re embarassing yourself.

Roy? Really? Generally you have good thoughtful posts but this garbage you spout about thuggery says different. Think before you post or you say something that erases your credibilty forever. You come off (not saying you are) like a racist. Simple as that. Go Bucs!
