“I Want The Truth”

November 18th, 2017

Herm Edwards demands facts.

This is a simple case for Herm Edwards.

The former Bucs defensive assistant and a man who known Jameis since before he was drafted by the Bucs believes he could get to the bottom of this Uber allegation very quickly.

Speaking on BSPN’s “NFL Live” yesterday, Edwards has a plan to find out if Jameis Winston really did grab an Uber driver in her private area as she alleges.

Herm said he would sit down with Jameis and get the facts out right now. No need for any NFL lengthy investigation.

“I don’t have to worry about the league,” Herm told his co-hosts Suzy Kolber, Bill Polian and Tedy Bruschi. “I don’t have to worry about what the Uber driver said, the investigation. I am calling Jameis Winston in. I am going to sit right across from Jameis… I am going to look him dead in the eye. ‘I want the truth.’”

What troubles Joe as much as anything is, if one is to take seriously what winning Bucs coach Dirk Koetter said yesterday, it seems the Bucs were blindsided by this news yet it appears Winston’s people had already dealt with the issue.

If that is accurate, it really disappoints Joe that Jameis withheld this incident from the team for some 20 months. Again, Joe is just going by Koetter’s words yesterday when he said he just learned of it. Surely the Bucs, had they known of this, wouldn’t keep Koetter in the dark, would they? That sounds improbable.

You can watch the full segment of Polian, Edwards and Bruschi discussing the allegation below.

What a waste of 2100 bucks again this season!!

Very classy video presented here, with all participants taking the high road. Basically let the investigation proceed. Unless you were there no one knows for sure. Clear up those gray areas.

  9. Roy T. Buford Says:

What I’d like to know from guys like Herm is what he thinks should happen if Jameis did it, or was just in the car. All that aside, if Jameis withheld it from his team, why should he tell Herm?

  10. Dewey Selmon Says:

Actually Lakeland, Jameis did this mar/16. Groping news became mainstream around sept/oct 2016.

  11. 44is88 Says:

Yea Like he is going to sit there and say “Yea my bad I did it, couldn’t help myself”. Ain’t happening Herm! Not in todays society. We all know Winston did it. Right? I mean this just doesn’t happen does it? women coming out saying stuff like that if it isn’t true. I mean why would women do that? Or would they do that? Idk. I do know that Winston must think he can do whatever he wants or he isn’t very smart to put himself in situation like that. Most men don’t get accused of stuff like that ever, this is Winston’s 2nd time. A leopard never changes it stripes!! I am a huge Winston fan but sorry man you are making bad choices regardless if it’s true or not.

  12. Roy T. Buford Says:

Bottom line if he didn’t tell his team, and was just in the car and something happened: He will never be trusted to be up front again. That will indirectly lead to people not getting on board with him as the franchise QB, if that happens.

If he actually did the groping, we just added three years to playoff hopes, because he’ll be gone. Ownership will not have more of this.

  13. Mike Johnson Says:

    Lakeland..you speak straight up…WORD..my man!

  14. dr. lob Says:

This allegation is just like the immaturity Winston has shown in the past. So it appears to me to be true. Draft a QB in the middle rounds next year.

no jameis hater but whether you do did it or not I hate that you cant keep it 100 ….bucs didn’t know ???….you can bet your bottom dollar

if he’s still here you all betta get ready for a drafted QB as a possible 1st/backup to push jameis and kick his lying ass out if he messes up one last time !!!! baker , allen or flowers in that order

I cant stand when you cant keep it 100…#no frienemies

brooks gm gruden coach ..bring back the creamsickles!!! ….redo the pirate lets go ……#lavontesaid it lol

  17. Tom Edrington Says:

Herm: YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!!!

  18. simeon Says:

dump jameis. guy hasn’t matured. he is who they said he was. You don’t get the benefit of the doubt when you have his track record.

Also, he is inaccurate when throwing footballs.

  19. Chris in WA Says:

There are other aspects of the story that the Winston camp hasn’t denied as well such as him being blitzd coming out of a club and shouting homophobic slurs at people on the sidewalk from a car. That would be a disaster for the franchise if a audio or video recording came out.

  20. Destinjohnny Says:

Hey it’s not like Winston to do something stupid now is it???

  21. tval Says:

And that video would have been sold to tmz 19 1/2 Mos ago, chris..rofl!! Don’t be dense, you triggered hater

  22. tval Says:

  23. 44is88 Says:

Only True racist bring up racism comments on a football blog.. leave that for your left wing blogs TVAL

  24. Scott Says:

Bringing the president in to every discussion is a form of mental illness, some sort of weird obsessive problem.

  25. Chris in WA Says:

It’s obvious by the incoherent ramblings and multiple posts that SOMEONE is most likely drunk out of their mind watching college football today lol.

  26. TonyC Says:

More evidence that we need a coach, president or whatever the hell you want to call him/them that has a vision and system ready for implementation that doesn’t allow for this wishy washy, foul play and ill prepared players out at 2 am.

  27. Jolly Bucs Fan Says:

Ive been jameis biggest fan… But we all have been hearing abt how the team can’t handle road trips, the all want to go out and party, we havent heard jameis name in regards to this, but now itd adding up. Lets give jamo the benefit of the doubt and say he was in the backseat…

Jameis… What the frack are you taking ubers for 1 night before a game. This tells me that even if he is clean of the allegations, he is not the leader i so desperately hoped for

  28. Memberberries Says:

@Jolly Bucs Fan I believe it was off-season, March iirc.

  29. Bculaw Says:

Jolly – this happened in March 2016. Offseason after his rookie year; not the night before a game.

This isn’t going to have a good ending. Even if he didn’t do it, he will be guilty by association. My bet, though, is that neither side will be able to prove their version of the events, and Jameis will get slapped hard by the league.

He CAN’T be THIS stupid, can he?

  30. Jeffbuc Says:

Jolly buc did he have a madden game the next day or something what game is in March. So he wasn’t out before a game. Everyone knows the regular season ends in January and the bucs season ends the first week in November. Not March. And Nate what is your obsession with drafting flowers do you watch the bulls. He is a smaller more inaccurate quarterback than jameis. He is a decent college qb and that is all he will be he will never play a down at qb in the nfl regular season.

  31. Buc believer Says:

The truth is is that this is just a gold digger looking to get paid! Period!

  32. Memberberries Says:

I sense a spinoff of Gruden’s Quarterback Club:
    “Herm Edwards, Human Lie Detector”

I’d kinda want to watch that to be honest.

  33. DalvinCookRules Says:

Jameis still does not understand how the world works. He is like 75% of Americans, and people in general, too naive to understand (how else do you explain half of this country being duped into voting for the idiot in chief)

He needs to understand that every single thing he does can be the end of his career. Even if it is something as silly as jumping on a trampoline. Why would he even use Uber, is my question? He is a multi-millionaire, can’t afford a cab? He also needs to understand that a person is no better than the friends he keeps. Who was the idiot in his group? If that idiot had drugs on him, for example, then in the public eye, JW HAD DRUGS ON HIM. It’s that simple. You are GUILTY until proven innocent in the court of public opinion, and even after your innocence is proven, you are STILL GUILTY.

Didn’t he learn his lesson at FSU by handing around Chris Casher? The sex allegation at FSU would’ve never happened if it were not for Casher secretly filming that girl having sex with JW, which caused her to retaliate, then he idiotically deletes the video, but that’s another story…

The bottom line is, he is still young and naive.

  34. LakeLand Says:

If he’s guilty of it,he could always run for President. And get elected, by a HUGE margin!

  35. The Anomaly Says:

@ BUC BELIEVER – she has already said she wants no money. Nice try victim blamer. What’s your theory now?

  36. JonBuc Says:

Move over Jamarcus Russell & Tim Couch….we have a 3rd turd. Fitting he wears # 3. Man this season went sideways…

  37. Rayjay1122 Says:

Can we bring back the Bandits? That was a fun team to watch.

  38. America's Groper Says:

Silly boys, he was denying the FSU incident until the cafeteria incident was brought up, then he came up and then came clean .

  39. Maddog Says:

    Baker Mayfield……Cmon Down

  40. 44is88 Says:

    MAGA!

  41. Tony from Los Angeles Says:

The only saving grace for Winston is if he truly used his Uber account for someone else’s ride. If so – he cannot fall on the sword regardless of how good a friend the other person may be.

If he was in the car.,. Not gonna end well.

    6 games minimum
And then he gets ousted and find a Super Bowl elsewhere.

One more thing… when some of you call other posters lefties and snowflakes, you immediately cast yourself in such an ignorant and cliched typecast.

  42. feelthepewterpower Says:

Jameis’ agent didn’t know about it?

  43. JimmyJack Says:

Grow up Lakeland. There was more then one issue involved in that election. Or did you get all your opinions from the gossip mags.

  44. America's Groper Says:

Look, guys, Joe is deleting the pure political comments and/or pure hate speak. Dozens have been filtered out of this thread.–Joe

  45. StPeteBucsFan Says:

So here is what the JBF mob seems to be hoping for…not me I want some continuity but I’m afraid #3 is making that tough.

    But others here…

    Derrick Brooks GM

    Chucky Coach

Chucky steals Kirk Cousins from his brother for a starting QB.

    Sounds great on paper…but really?

I’m wondering how much of #3’s idiotic move in AZ rubs off on Bucs management. Will the Glazers be mad at Licht for the pick? Are rumors true that Koetter was not on board originally with the selection.

The Bucs have turned into a freaking soap opera!!!! As the Football Turns.

  46. Rob Says:

Hey Lakeland. STFU with calling anyone who doesn’t watch Rachel Maddow 24/7 an idiot. I’m sure your also busy flipping back and forth to watch some half breed in diapers on Springer too. Anyway…I wanted the Bucs to pick Mariota, not because I hate Winston, but because of the cloud of character issues that surrounded him back then. I thought, based on media scrutiny, that Jameis had kept his nose clean as a Buc and if so, I was proud that he was maturing as a man. We all make mistakes and deserve a second chance. That being said, if and I mean if Jameis proves to have been the one who groped this Uber driver, he and the Buc organization will have to pay the consequences. Schiano got fired partly due to the bizarre 30 for 30 like demise of Josh Freeman. This Jameis sideshow sure seems to have the makings of another sad 30 for 30 story. Hope not because I am a HUGE Buc fan and I like Koetter but this has absolute coach killing, franchise fracturing power if I ever saw it. Go Bucs and good luck Jameis. You are going to need it.

  47. Jman Says:

#3 worshippers are finding this accusation hard to ….. grasp? 😂

  48. Macklemore Says:

The last time someone asked for the truth from Jameis Winston, (regarding his shoplifting of crab legs, this happened.
From USA Today: “Well, a week before it was my buddy’s birthday, and we had got a cake and we met a dude that worked inside Publix and he said, ‘Hey, anytime you come in here, I got you.’ So that day we just walked out, and he hooked us up with that,” Winston told Harbaugh.
“And when I went in to get crab legs, did the same thing and he just gave them to me and I walked out. Someone from inside the store had told the security that I didn’t pay for them, and that’s how the whole thing started.”
Winston’s statements differ from what he told the Leon County Sheriff’s office after the April 2014 incident, saying he forgot to pay for the items after walking out of the store and hoped to “make it right.”
Publix disputes Jameis Winston’s claim he was ‘hooked up’ with crab legs
“We have become aware of statements made by Jameis Winston during a recent interview with Jim Harbaugh describing the circumstances of his alleged receipt of food from a local grocery store,” FSU athletic director Stan Wilcox said in a statement Wednesday. “The details disclosed by Winston in that interview were not previously known to the University. As is the case will all matters of this type, we will work in partnership with the NCAA to determine whether a violation occurred.”

There’s a pattern of deception. As someone pointed out–Winston knew of this allegation right after it happened and he was banned from Uber.

  49. Tony 12" Pepperoni Says:

Wow!! America’s Groper your the man..

  50. AlteredEgo Says:

    sad…..

  51. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Joe, I had one political post and then wrote a long post about Winston that had nothing hateful in it. Both were deleted!

  52. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I, too am on record with concerns about Winston as the draft choice…..I came around to the pick late because I believed his character issues were because of his immaturity…..and that he wasn’t really a bad person.
I don’t think any of that has changed…..he’s truly a good person who makes very stupid immature decisions.
Jameis has to perform better on the field to cover for his off-field mistakes….

He is in a bad place….either he admits he did this and apologizes and pays the price…or he aggressively denies the act.(doesn’t look like that is what he is doing)……leaving it in limbo expecting it to just go away….probably won’t work.

  53. Jman Says:

    @JaboozeWins

  54. AlteredEgo Says:

    Fact :
Tony Dungy wanted which of the 2 QB’s….?

  55. BuccaneEric75 Says:

It’s good to know that I wasted 5 miniutes of my life writing a comment that should not have been deleted for political/ hateful language only to see it disappear. I guess the jokes on me. Oh well

  56. America's Groper Says:

Well ladies, after the investigation of Shameus, it looks like there is a very good possibility of 6 additional games with Fitztragic as our QB. That is going to be some times we are just going to shut off the tube and find a hobby

  57. Jman Says:

Better than the 3 hours 16 times a year

  58. Bucsace Says:

Yeah, Maybe Father Dungy saw all this coming a mile away

  59. Dave Pear Says:

Maybe he was looking for some crabs.

  60. LakeLand Says:

I stand by my comments. I’m no Hypocrite, unlike others on here.

  61. LakeLand Says:

If Jameis Winston committed this evil, dreadful act. Then he should be punish to the full extreme. No man has the right to violate anyone. Regardless of their position in life.

  62. scott gilrane Says:

None of us know the facts, yet the majority of the clowns on this site already convicted Jamies. Showing your true colors, fella’s.

  63. DalvinCookRules Says:

and if he didn’t (which is looking more and more the case), then he should sue the living sh** out of the girl and bail on this pathetic franchise and it’s fans.

  64. lightningbuc Says:

    Siege The Crotch!

  65. Roy T. Buford Says:

So how many were in that car anyway? I read an ESPN article that stated the driver said Jameis was only passenger. But then the statement from Jameis very much implies there were several people. The next shoe to drop may be that Jameis was the ONLY passenger and he may say he misspoke? I hope that’s not the case. Boy, I really hope that is not the case.

On the other hand, if he did it, and it comes out sooner rather than later, the Bucs can move on well ahead of deep-scouting the draft. AND it would be nice to know if there are any misbehavior clauses in this contract. Probably best case for all, if Jameis did it, is he is the backup and with one year left on his contract, is traded early in the preseason next year to a team missing a QB. Of course that is only IF he did it.

  66. LakeLand Says:

    DalvinCookRules,

In America, you suppose to be innocent until proven guilty. I guess that don’t stand for everyone. But my point is that we had someone on tape bragging about groping women. And people look the other way, with a blind eye. And these same Hypocrites are condemning Jameis Winston for an act that he ” Allegedly” committed.

  67. Roy T. Buford Says:

Up front, not accusing or saying I believe Jameis did anything illegal. Next, I don’t practice law in Arizona, but will say A.R.S. § 13-1404 stipulates that “sexual abuse” is if “a person has sexual contact of a specific nature with anyone who is over the age of 15 and who has not provided that person with consent.” The “sexual contact” is further defined as any type of fondling, touching or manipulation of a person’s breasts, genitalia or anus. So, context doesn’t matter.

Penalties if convicted (for this Class 5 felony) are probation up to one-year jail sentence, or xix months to two years in prison. The person is also considered a lifetime list of “sexual offenders” in the state.

So, no charges filed, and Jameis won’t be convicted IF he did it. BUT if it’s pretty clear he did it to the Commish (Uber records, phone records, or eye witnesses if in the car, etc), yeah, Jameis will likely get at LEAST six games. If he gets that, I’ll bet he’d be gone from the Bucs (at least in any capacity) well before that.

If he DIDN’T do it, and was in the car and knew about it, AND didn’t tell his team, I think he’d be rightfully cast as fall-from-grace with the owners. They took a huge risk and put great trust in him to draft him, and pay him nearly $40M over four years (including his signing bonus). They went out on a limb with their own fans to trust him. And if he turns out to be a big BS artist…oh boy. If Uber knew of this, and it’s true, and sat on the report all this time, even all through Hard Knocks, kudos to them. And it only makes the owners more mad at how everyone gushed over him.

So…I sure hope he didn’t do it AND wasn’t in the car.

  68. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

I pray this accusation is false, if not we could be without our an for a lengthy time. His past accusations will be factored into the NFLs decision. This was my concern drafting him. But he has done great so far. I find it hard to believe his camp could hide this from the team for almost 2 years that’s just hard to believe in today’s age

  69. Roy T. Buford Says:

Some more interesting info…IF Jameis did it. A civil suit must be filed within two years of the act. That is, the statute of limitations (SOL) applies the same for economic damages in “sexual abuse” cases as it does for other civil cases. This means by March 2018. Putting feelers out there is a real possibility to see if a civil case should be pursued. Just saying…I think someone out west is talking to an attorney.

Other option is if a criminal complaint is files by the State on behalf of the “victim.” That SOL for that is 7 years. Not much of a criminal case if no report filed yet, my opinion.

Man, I sure hope Jameis didn’t do anything AND wasn’t in the car.

  70. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

So qb autocorrects to an now lmao that’s random

  71. chickster Says:

Jamis will be the biggest heart breaking thing to happen to the bucs since bo Jackson after watching him eat his fingers it hit me that this will be the biggest mistake of the bucs . The bucs will have start over and my god I hope I have that much time left

  72. Roy T. Buford Says:

So putting my last two together, the NFL now investigates…if they find something that bodes badly for Jameis, a civil case can be filed and the inured party may try to settle. If not, the option is still there to keep the case going as long as it’s filed within two years. Bottom line is if he did it, she’s no gold digger. Just getting is permitted under the law. But as many have opined, if he didn’t do it, or no one can prove he did it, he still is likely in deep trouble I think IF he didnt report it to his employer. Wow, talk about a season flushed down the drain. Maybe next season too.

  73. unbelievable Says:

Never saw BSPN use that photo of Jameis until yesterday… no agenda though I”m sure…

  74. unbelievable Says:

lakeland, you know it’s the United States of Hypocrisy now, right?

    #ThePost-TruthEra

  75. JimmyJack Says:

I noticed the same thing unbelievable………Nobody has to like it but that’s the way it goes for celebrities. Everything they do is magnified and exploited……….Thats why many here will have regret with our QB either way.

When you’re in his position you really have to use your head with everything you say or do. Especially nowadays with the power of cellular devices.

The ugly truth is that Winstons image is now permanently tarred. Like it or not that’s who our QB is.

  76. Buc Bobby Says:

It kills me how you guys seem to forget Gruden dismantled a championship team, and refused to get a young QB like, say Aaron Rodgers because he didn’t have patience with them. If we are going to bring back anyone, bring back Dungy, we didn’t have an offense, but we had defense and most of all INTEGRITY.

  77. Dave Says:

They’ve been talking about Jameis today even on CNN and Fox News. So this is getting even beyond the sports realm. With how hot this sexual assault topic is right now with with the national media, and considering Jameis already has a history, he’s going to have to prove himself innocent here.

This is really going to hurt the team. He’s very likely looking at a 4-6 game suspension next year. Goodell has suspended players before based on nothing but allegations. But this is the risk you take when you draft immature players with character problems.

  78. Jim Says:

You don’t want to hear the truth; nobody in the Tampa Bay bubble wants to hear it. Why have the Bucs failed to make the play-offs in ten years? It’s right in front of your eyes…

  79. LakeLand Says:

The Bucs haven’t made the playoffs in 10 years because they Sucks. Jason Licht is the WORST GM in the NFL. The team is loaded with garbage players, and their coaching staff is inferior.

  80. TonyT Says:

    You can’t handle the truth!!!

  81. unbelievable Says:

    jimmyjack I know.

    #ItsABucsLife
    #SOB

  82. JimmyJack Says:

Wow I just watched Bucs acess which had aired earlier today and they didn’t even mention this story. These idiots are talking X’s & O’s while the franchise is getting shredded in controversy………I’m hoping that it is prerecorded from before this story but that is lazy freaking coverage IMO.

After seeing that I figured to stroll over to the Bucs main site and not one mention of this story.

This is very shameful for our teams mainstream avenues to not even acknowledge the current state of turmoil with the team. They are basically hiding from the story……..Even if it is prerecorded it is teet suckling at its finest to not cut out the fluff piece on cheerleaders and report the actual team news.

  83. The Anomaly Says:

@dalvincookhobbles – I hope you go with him. You are the worst of the worst. I hate FSU fans that put that clown school over the Bucs. Be a Bucs fan or get lost. Franchise first.

  84. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Buc Bobby

    What you said!!!!
