Deep Throws

November 23rd, 2017

Slingin.’

Believe it or not, the Bucs offense hasn’t changed that much with the absence of America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.

When Jameis was quarterbacking the Bucs, Tampa Bay was one of the top teams in the NFL in launching footballs down the field. Now, after the past 10 quarters being led by backup Ryan Fitzpatrick, numbers show the Bucs still throw the ball downfield.

BSPN’s NFL Matchup shows the Bucs are tied for fifth with the Belicheats for throwing passes of at least 20 yards downfield. The Bucs (and the Belicheats) both have 49 such throws.

So perhaps that is why the Bucs have not collapsed since Jameis was too hurt to play? The offense is relatively unchanged.

The team completely mismanaged Jameis’ injury imho.

They should have rested him for the Panthers and Saints games and let him return against the Jets … they’d still be 4-6 but he’d likely be 100% healthy for this Sundays game and the rest of the year and they’d have a decent shot at another 9-7 year and maybe, just maybe a playoff berth.

    Fair point Nut.

    Your right Nut.
But I guess they thought they’ll only have a shot against the division rivals with Jameis at the helm. And the competitor he is, he clenched his teeth and played through pain – and he wanted to.

Should have rested Jameis’ groping arm sooner

Fitz’s experience offsets Jameis’s advantages as a more talented QB. Jameis is a work in progress. And when one watches the game, one doesn’t see that much drop off, so what is the surprise the facts that the numbers would simply confirm it?

Rested Jameis shouldeer sooner? Where you guys been? Mismngt has always been..the Bucs way! I said 4 score and 7 games ago, Jameis should have been out for the season. Now watch him come back and further injure that shoulder.
I’m usually gloom and doom But I sure hope Fitz continies to play well. Real well..enough to keep him playing for the remainder. You guys crack me up. Now you say..coulda/woulda/shoulda. My bad though, this is also the..Buc fan way!!!

Jamis makes poor decisions, cant throw deep and poor accuracy with excellent receivers . Nothing to brag about!

What do you know Joe? and we got TDs in the first half!
I heard Lee on the Ira poadcast talking about the fans complaining about the 2nd half offense against miami. He said fans wanted Koetter to “open up the playbook” and “2 pick 6s”.. Why do you have to exaggerate Joe? Is that what we said he should have done? Did he “open up the playbook” in the first half? How many risky throws did Fitz make? Wht 2 pick 6s? why exaggerate? Do you really have a point Lee?

I love it! Bombs away boys! Nothing fires up a team or their supporters more than a 50+ yard TD pass. Perhaps DK is turning into the Mad Bomber. He could tone it down some but I loved Darryl Lamonica and Fred Biletnikoff and the wide open Raider offense…Mad Bombers indeed.

It’s hard for me to criticize DK for too many deep throws because I’m so prejudiced. I’m a huge fan of deep passing games…they disrupt and change momentum in a heartbeat.

yea Jameis’ terrible accuracy must because of that bum shoulder lol…
