Danny Kannell Turns On Jameis

November 20th, 2017

Fed up.

It seems America’s Quarterback has lost an ally.

Former Florida State and New York Giants quarterback Danny Kanell, when he used to holler for BSPN, was a strong advocate for Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston. But like his former job at the four-letter, it seems Kanell is done with Jameis.

On Friday, jabbering on “Speak for Yourself,” seen weekday afternoons on FS1, Kanell was discussing the Uber driver allegation against Jameis and Kanell all but has washed his hands of his fellow Seminole.

“I would love to give him the benefit of the doubt,” Kanell said of Jameis. “But when you have a history of poor decisions, it is hard to do that. And I hope there is some way he can prove that this didn’t happen and I don’t know if he’s going to be able to.

“At some point, you are really dumb or really immature and maybe a little bit of both. You have seen these decisions on-the-field, off-the-field and don’t forget about some things that look really immature like when he’s eating his fingers. Just weird, random, like ‘What are you doing?’

“And I think he does have a tremendous amount of growing up [to do] but at this point in his career, when you are approaching an age – it is time to grow up so you don’t have these things come up time and time again.”

If there is absolute proof Jameis didn’t lay a hand on this Uber driver — he and Ronald Darby claim nothing happened and Darby suggests there was a third rider in the car — and all three of their stories check out, maybe Jameis does skate past the gavel of NFL strongman Roger Goodell.

And if all three (?) stories are verifiable and consistent, that’s the only way Joe can see this not costing Jameis at least some cash come his second contract.

And for the love of the Almighty Jameis, you have all of your entire post-football life to hang out with whoever you please. but until you retire from the NFL, stay the hell away from Darby unless it is in a church.

So is Jameis playing this week or not? hahahahah this is going to be good.

  2. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

Idk, church is a bastion of covering up sexual indecency and assault. There’s no safe place for Jameis in the public spotlight.

  3. Pryda...sec 147 Says:

    I hope Jameis can play

  4. LakeLand Says:

How can it be a “Bad Decision” to call a Uber driver? Uber has over 40 million active riders. The problem wasn’t riding Uber or hanging with Ron Darby. The problem is America is full of people looking for that fast dollar(Lawsuit). If he was the regular Joe Blow. This wouldn’t be a story, because it wouldn’t have been reported. Some people are treating this like Jameis broke into a woman home and sexual assaulted her. This is about a Minimum Wage Earning Uber driver looking for that big payday.

“Make sure you choose to go to a church that has plenty of space between the rows of seats…every sunday, many big booty women try to rub against my little kobe steak trying to cross thru the aisles”

  6. papadoc Says:

Interesting in that Darby is the same friend that stood up for Jameis in the incident at FSU. I guess that is what friends are for, be there when I need your help regardless as to if your statements are true or not. I stand with the Uber driver as I can’t see her in a drive thru at 2 AM in the morning getting food for 3 grown men. Remember she filed a complaint with Uber and even told several friends as to what happened without mentioning the 2 other persons in the car at the time. Time to look for a new quarterback or keep the backup we have now as suddenly the bucs are winning without Jameis. The facts speak for themselves.

  7. ndog Says:

Again no one knows what happened but the fact remains no body knows what happened in that car so why he is guilty automatically? People say look at his history well yes he was accused of something but never charged and by most accounts it appears those accusations were untrue. But lets just say for a moment that they never took place then in this case would she be the one no believed or would we still just accept everything she says as truth. This is an entirely different case with the exception of the girl from the other side of the country just so happens to hire the same attorney that pried money from Jameis already. If anything is fishy and doesn’t look right it is that she hired a lawyer that she didn’t even knew existed 4 days ago from the other side of the country. How is that not suspicious? It seems he could not prove anything the first time with Jameis so he wants a 2nd shot. Again only the people involved know what happened but does anyone for a second step back and think maybe he really didn’t commit the first act or this one a he is being treated grossly unfairly, as that is entirely possible as well. I mean this girl basically admitted she did not know who he was yet she is admit it was him?

  8. BUC MAN Says:

WHEN HE WAS DRAFTED , I WAS PRAYING THAT TAMPA WON’T TAKE THIS GUY , I KNEW HE WAS TROUBLE FROM THE START FOR ALL THE STUPID THINGS HE’S DONE , AND I COULDN’T BELIEVE IT THERE HE WAS A BUCCANEER, SOME HOW I KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO HAUNT THE BUC’S SOONER OR LATER AND HERE WE ARE , ANOTHER BAD PICK IN THE DRAFT , , I CAN’T BELIEVE THEY DIDN’T SEE THIS COMING BEFORE THEY DRAFTED HIM , THATS WHY THE BUC’S ARE LOOSERS, ……LOOSER DRAFT PICKS

  9. PRBucFan Says:

“And I hope there is some way he can prove that this didn’t happen and I don’t know if he’s going to be able to.”

Wait… Am I missing something, isn’t she supposed to be able to prove it did happen? Not the other way around lol.

  10. LakeLand Says:

If she was so dramatize as she claimed to be. Why didn’t she make a scene? why wasn’t this reported to the police?

  11. tval Says:

Can’t spell loser? You certainly should be familiar 🙂 nfl.com not even covering..snooooze!!!!

  12. Kobe Faker Says:

Now with darbys statement it could be a case close event for jameis if darby is telling the truth with his phone and drive thru video evidence

If darby is lying like the new uber attorney claim, both jameis and darby are in big pile of shat

Seems the message from jameis is from russ spielman is part of his agent. Better get a real attorney

  13. LakeLand Says:

A millionaire groping a Minimum Wage earning Uber driver. That’s what don’t make sense.

  14. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Lakeland

I made the comment after Jameis was drafted that he should always have someone with him when he is around a female….he has a reputation and has money and is recognizable. That combination will forever make him a target.

If Darby is correct and that’s probably easily proved by his cell phone…then Jameis will be exonerated….If Jameis was alone…..there is the problem….he can’t prove he didn’t do it. He would win a civil suit for lack of evidence but in the court of public opinion, he loses.

  15. tval Says:

She just hired the biggest money grab Feminazi attorney in the country. Lol!! Transparent money grab. She doesn’t even pay he just bogs down the system with frivolous claims looking for a handout.

  16. ndog Says:

So papadoc the facts are “I can’t see her in a drive thru at 2 AM in the morning getting food for 3 grown men”? That sounds an awful lot like an opinion but don’t let the facts get in the way of your already preconceived outcome. You are part of the problem as if it does come out there is proof of multiple people being in the car does anyone think that you or all of these other people passing judgment with very limited information will step up and say you were wrong, of course not! Just like the speech at the school with Tom Jones just admit it you are just waiting to pounce on this guy and have been from the moment he was drafted which is sad but true. Only you know the reason why but I highly doubt you have any real reason to feel the way you feel other than reading articles of what other uninformed people say. And he could be guilty but since you don’t know that to pass judgment so quickly shows your true thoughts/hopes.

  17. tval Says:

Class doesn’t matter, but feminazi John cline does. He’s lied SOOOO MANY TIMES. NOT A TOOL LOOK FOR MS. UBER

  18. LakeLand Says:

    Tampabaybucfan

Jameis Winston is the NFL Mike Tyson

    When women see him

    They see a walking ATM

And they gonna be in line

    To make withdrawals

  19. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Everyone needs to be patient and let the evidence unfold. The only things we know now is three was a reported incident….no police call, the driver came out amidst all these other incidents recently unveiled, and most important…..Koetter claims he just heard of this.
That may be the biggest problem going forward for Jameis.

  20. The Buc Realist Says:

    @papadoc

well, if JW3 purchased the food on his credit card, and the statement shows that 3 meals were purchased, then that is hard evidence!!!!!!!

When you here the victim turned plaintiff says it is not about the money then hires a lawyer 48 hrs later, drastically changes the way most will view this incident!!!!!

We still do not know what happened, it could have been a misunderstanding or a total mis-read of the situation!!!!!!! How many of us have been in the back seat and have no idea what conversation or going on up front, especially if you are yucking it up with your bro in the back!!!!!!!

The mystery guy ( who JW3 probably has already informed the investigation of his identity, but no publicly) was most likey had a few drinks, was just doing conversation with the driver, then trying to be nice ask while they are in a drive thru at a mexican restaurant, And she says, yes, can you grab me a taco,,,, He misheard “yes, can you grab my taco” and he drunkly says you sure??????? and now here we are!!!!!!!!!!

  21. Bucsfanman Says:

@LakeLand- You may have a point. However, if the ride were just a ride from point A to point B with typical small talk, there would never have been a complaint. Something someone said or did in that Uber made her feel uncomfortable. What? Nobody knows except the passengers and driver. If I had to hazard a guess, I would probably err on the side of immaturity.

  22. tval Says:

Clune I don’t believe said he lied. Just wants to muddy waters and drag some b.s. out and get a settlement for nothing. He’s an opportunist. Again, NOT IF IT’S TRUE…IT’S BLATANTLY FALSE!!! DARBY & JAMEIS both always seem to be pretty high character guys. Did you curse in college? SHAME!!!! SHAME!!!! ROFL @ “HIS PAST” ACCORDING TO THE KLAN

  23. Supersam Says:

Why haven’t we cut this clown yet? Get rid of him.

  24. ndog Says:

That’s just it, everyone is acting like if Darby’s phone does or doesn’t show in the same place at the same time then the case is closed. That is not even close to being the case as Jameis could have had Darbys phone with him and no Darby or Darby could have been ion the car but left his phone at home so that is far from being the proof in either direction that everyone is hoping for. It is going to have to be multiple pieces of information to close this case like where they were picked up, where they were dropped of, the restaurant, cell phone records for all parties included, the Uber receipt, the restaurant receipt, any possible camera footage at any of the locations involved. This should be able to be figured which could mean really good news Jameis/us or really bad news for Jameis/us. Only time will tell, but according to some, regardless of proof either way, judgment has already been passed.

  25. Bradinator Says:

@LakelandLand She’s never asked for dime. This happened a year ago, and it wasn’t her that opened the investigation, it was the NFL. She reported it to Uber, and that was enough for her apparently. There is no money on the table here except a possible suspension that cuts Jameis paycheck. Did he do it? I have no idea, I hope it’s not true and can be proven untrue. If you have some insider knowledge we’d love to hear it.

  26. Dewey Selmon Says:

Kudos to Danny for not being an FSU homer. Forget the Uber, there are still a list of boneheaded immature incidents.

  27. Maze Says:

    Who?

  28. Stevbobucsfan Says:

What I don’t understand at this time is. All over sudden all these people are coming out talking about who groped them ruining a lot of people careers and with James. I am not a big fan of his but I do like him and that he is good for Tampa. Now you get some female come out 2 years later and accuse him of groping her. Why now with all of these sexual harassment cases. Hell the president of the USA groped and harassed women. So hopefully Jamis career is not ruinef

  29. Kobe Faker Says:

If the uber driver knows that jameis and darby was sitting at the backseat and passenger friend who groped her,…

She knows most definately they all have phones…

She is stupid enough to claim groped by only passenger jameis winston? She must know it can be easily proven

Kobe doesnt think she is that stupid

    “I know what stupid is”

    Kobe Faker

  30. ndog Says:

See example A Supersam who has hated Jameis from the day he got here. Truth and facts means nothing only preconceived opinions.

  31. PRBucFan Says:

    Again don’t get it twisted.

This burden falls on this woman to prove he’s guilty, not the other way around.

  32. PRBucFan Says:

Also did she not claim to be alone with Jameis? If so, she’s already been exposed.

  33. Bucsfanman Says:

@PR- If it was JUST a typical Uber ride, would there have been a complaint? I think something was said or done that made her uncomfortable.

  34. Mike n Says:

Danny is absolutely right. I think this Uber thing is probably false but looking at the saints game pregame and on sidelines you just are like this kid is so immature. To steal the late Dennis green line , he is who we thought he was… inaccurate in the pocket, turnover machine, does stupid things… same as when he was at FSU. Remarkably talented and makes great plays when things break down but has problems w the easy stuff

  35. Mike n Says:

In the nfl you don’t have to be guilty to get 4 or 6 game suspension

  36. LakeLand Says:

She didn’t ask for a dime. But all of a sudden she has hired the exact same lawyer that tried to railroad Jameis before. Don’t they have lawyers in Arizona?

  37. PRBucFan Says:

Dont get me wrong I am no fan of how he has performed on the field this year and I have been quite vocal about that. But up until he “poked” the back of a helmet on the sideline he has had a sterling record off the field or in regards to his character since he’s been in TB. People have been looking to crucify him and now that they have one thing to hold onto its suddenly this massive “immaturity card” when in fact he’s been nothing but mature since arriving in TB until he poked that punk on the sideline and gave a weird pregame speech. I mean with all that bad character related things other players have done if that’s the worst Jameis offers he’s a saint in my book.

Hopefully this is what it looks to be, nothing.

  38. Waterboy Says:

I actually agree with Kannel. I’m waiting this one out to get more info but I’m also close to throwing in the towel on Jameis. We shouldn’t even be having these discussions after the team found a way to pull out 2 wins in a row and attempt to savage their season.

  39. LakeLand Says:

This is bigger than football. this is about “Defamation Of Character”. Football is nothing but a game. But when you accuse someone of a heinous offense such as this. You are destroying their life, career, and this happens a lot in America. No one cares about wins or losses when someone character, career is at stake.

  40. Jim burns Says:

The reason most of us assume the worst is he has a history of stupid decisions. The BB gun wasn’t enough, the crab legs wasn’t enough, the rape settlement wasn’t enough, yelling fhritp wasn’t enough , the incident with Mike Evans wasn’t enough…..and now this . The guy has zero class.

  41. Letsgobucs Says:

This sucks. He is an idiot. Why put yourself in that position??? As for her getting that particular attorney; why wouldn’t she? You know Jameis is paying high dollar attorneys. I hope he didn’t do it, but if he did I am done. No excuse for that crap. And Kannel is right on. Poking that dude in the back of the head. He should have gotten decked. That ranks right up there with Randy Moss squirting water on an official, ok maybe not, but still!

  42. Poor Glennon Says:

2nd contract…….that’s hilarious. The guy was eating crab legs at his draft party. His backup has shown more consistency in 10 quarters. Than he has. Oh ya and wins.

  43. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Because I feel this is all a sham, I’m quite tired of seeing 5-6 articles a day on it. How about something that goes into the good things Jameis does off the field? Like spending time at schools, his charities and more?

And then, let’s get back to football.

  44. Destinjohnny Says:

    Man lets get the facts.
The guy clearly has a history but he has done everything right since drafted.

  45. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Letsgobucs Says
“This sucks. He is an idiot. Why put yourself in that position???”

Okay, what position exactly did he get himself into?

If he is innocent, he did absolutely nothing wrong or improper. Calling Uber? You would rather him drive drunk?

Hanging with Darby? Sorry, but Darby is a football player, is he not? Are you saying he should not hang with people in the same profession?

Heck, having two other people with him has turned out to be a good thing, because it gave him witnesses to prove nothing happened!

So, who is the idiot here?

  46. Mike Johnson Says:

Exactly PRBucFan..the Burden proof is all on her. And the way its looking her case won’t hold up in a 20mph wind. However, the damage has already been done to Jameis. The court of public opinion is a mother…..He’s already guilty outside of the Tampa Bay area. he can’t change that. Let jameis chill for now. The more rest for that shoulder, the better. Fitz is winning. And whether people like that or not..its a fact. So lets ride with him a couple more games. It cannot hurt anything. Besides, Our Bucs have at least 3 more losses comin anyways!

  47. America's Groper Says:

Oh hell no, you don’t want him in schools either, he jacked that up the last time he was at a school and told all the 5th grade girls to sit down. He cant even go to a school without F’n it up

  48. Buc_The_World Says:

So in the last two years Jameis has been relatively clean with the exception of a poor choice of words and a game in New Orleans where he had a lapse in judgement by licking his fingers and poking a guy in the back of the head, but now he is the Bane to society. People call him immature but reading some of the comments on here many of you need to look in the mirror. I don’t believe calling an Uber is a poor decision. Driving while intoxicated is a poor decision, calling uber is not. And if something did happen to her with the guy that was in the front seat, how is that Jameis fault? I believe Jameis account of what happened. This man has spent the majority of his college and NFL career trying to get from under the shadow of the Kingsman incident in which has lost money because she lied on him, but now he is going to just randomly grab some woman’s crotch after that? I don’t think so. But I am curious when all the info comes out, and if it proves Jameis is innocent, what are you racists-I mean Jameis haters going to latch on to next?

  49. LakeLand Says:

There’s a lot of people hoping, praying for the fall of Jameis Winston. It’s really sad that people like this even exists. In my opinion they are nothing but worthless, ignorant Idiots.

  50. Wes Says:

I think people need to lay off on the finger eating. Was it dumb? Sure, big deal. OBJ proposed to a field goal net for crying out loud. I’ve seen way worse in the NFL than a dude eating W’s trying to fire up his team mates before a game.

  51. Nick Says:

PAPADOC. “I cant see an uber driver getting food at fast food place for three grown men”
    “Facts are facts”
Papadoc, someone needs to teach you what a fact is.

  52. Nick Says:

Uber Drivers dont make minimum wage.. but anyways, they dont make a ton either, so here is a driver, and you drive around listening to the news, this person coming out about sex misconduct with that person, another one, another person comes out, sex misconduct …. “Damn.. everybody is getting paid! I need to find some famous man to misconduct on me….”

    { Pick up, corner 4th st. Jameis Winston} … ” Oh its payday “

  53. SOEbuc Says:

So Jameis got injured and “is innocent until proven guilty” on what this Uber driver said and now everyone that was saying he’s our franchise god QB at the beginning of the year wants to throw him to the gutter. Jameis isn’t going to play anywhere else soon. And if he did he’d win a SB or two and you people would start bitching that it was the Glazers fault for letting him go somewhere else.

  54. SOEbuc Says:

“There’s a lot of people hoping, praying for the fall of Jameis Winston. It’s really sad that people like this even exists. In my opinion they are nothing but worthless, ignorant Idiots.”

    I feel ya LakeLand.

  55. SOEbuc Says:

What if Jameis were leading Bucs in a undefeated season right now. Guarantee not one GD Bucs fan would want to see him go down in flames like so many are at the moment.

  56. jim burns Says:

Like I said last week…..when the bucs beat the dolphins the bucs will have an interesting problem .

  57. dis Says:

Kannell said this on Friday before there the Uber message or Darby statement about multiple people in the car.

Besides the rape allegation, what did he do that was such a big deal, besides that the media was all over him?

    BB Guns? Really?

He got a bag of crab legs without a price tag on it. Sounds like the employee overreached his bounds and Jameis took the heat for him.

He shouted F her in the P when that was the most viral thing going? From this in case you hadn’t seen it.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJIydD7ULz8&t=15s

Yeah he was an immature college student. But so was most of us.

  58. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    Lakeland

There are just as many or more people praying Jameis is innocent…fans of Jameis who are just crushed by his rampant immaturity and stupidity.

He came within a whisker of losing his top spot in the draft…not just because of the Kinsman allegations but many more that were factually documented. So I ate any doubts I might have had about the Kinsman charge. I listened to 87 and realized the rest of the charges…crab legs innocent mistake some Publix employee gave them to him and in any college town jocks are always getting comped…so I looked the other way….the BB stuff…kids will be kids…the jumping on the table and screaming FHITP…that was tough because given his situation ahead of the draft that indicated an spoiled rotten entitled kid. But I wanted him to play for us so I concentrated on the “kid” portion of ALL of those charges and looked the other way.

But he’s clearly entitled combined with horrible judgement. He’s lost my confidence going forward that’s for sure.

Again play the little game…six months from now a story comes out about an unnamed Buc in sex charges…which name is going to pop up.

Why are all the other Bucs..wealthy famous millionaires…not constantly getting into this crap? I fear we are getting close to being co-dependent with Jameis…at least I have been. We want what we want desperately and sometimes it’s hard to look at the truth. Not saying he grabbed her…just sayin given his record..hangin out drunk with Darby at 2AM is unacceptable!!!

  59. papadoc Says:

Lets let her attorney get the evidence to prove her story first if true and then we all will see the facts laid out. The other passenger name is not being revealed, why – was the food paid with cash or by credit card, get the records if paid by card – any videos available on site or nearby when the food was bought – get the video – why didn’t Winston at the time tell the Bucs management that an incident had occurred that might be made public whereas management could prepare for public scrutiny – knowing his past mistakes he should have – if she was looking for money why wait all this time to come forward – why retain the same attorney involved in the FSU incident, because he knows Winston – get affidavits from her friends that she told at the time and last but not least put Winston, Darby and the other friend under oath under penalty of perjury in deposition and see just what they state happened. Oh, by the way, perjury is a second degree felony in Florida and carries not only a possible fine but also possible jail time.

  60. papadoc Says:

A quick follow-up – with a felony conviction for perjury Winston and Darby can kiss their nfl careers goodby. Perhaps the un-named friend also if he is a nfl player. sometimes the true hurts doen’t it.

  61. The Anomaly Says:

    Usual suspects victim blaming.

It’s everyone but Jameis. The guy has a sterling record and has never been in trouble,

At some point…it’s on him. Throw the trash out and take the trashy fans with you.

  62. NFLNut Says:

    ********

Jameis called an uber … that is the “situation” he put himself in, that’s it.

THAT IS NOT A “SITUATION”, that is a responsible thing to do! And, even “if” some mystery front-seat passenger did what the uber driver claims, that is still not something Jameis could have prevented.

Anyone saying Jameis failed at being careful or the like is being an unrighteously judgmental moron.

As for JOE saying Jameis should have alerted the Bucs … nonsense. What Jameis was told was that the driver claimed her front-seat passenger touched her and Jameis knew he was in the back seat with Darby, therefore in Jameis’ mind, he personally was not being accused of anything. There was nothing to report to the Bucs.

The media likes to look at things with 20/20 hindsight and spin a narrative and it drives me nuts as it’s lazy reporting and entirely illogical and nonsensical … but it sells print so they keep doing it.

    ********

  63. Bucsace Says:

Probably shouldn’t share this, but………I’d feel a lot worse about this Scottsdale episode if Jameis was playing like the franchise quarterback I had hoped he would be…..now I feel like….Well, Whatever

  64. NFLNut Says:

    *******************

^ Before injuring his THROWING shoulder in week 5, Jameis was on pace for 4,792 yards, 28 TDs & 12 picks and had a higher completion percentage AND lower interception percentage than both Carson Wentz and Dak Prescott … and had Folk simply made two chip shots against the Patriots, the Bucs would have been 3-1 and Jameis would have been in the MVP race … how soon people forget …

    *******************

  65. PRBucFan Says:

Before injuring his throwing shoulder he still was wildly inaccurate this season.

    Don’t wanna hear it.
