Koetter Blowout Bounceback History Is Strong

October 19th, 2017

With Dirk Koetter around, the Bucs have a stunning record after a crushing defeat.

History, Dirk Koetter’s Bucs history, suggests Tampa Bay will beat Buffalo on Sunday.

Joe’s got the data. The hard evidence!

Here are the Bucs’ brutal beatings since winning head coach Dirk Koetter arrived, followed by the next game’s result. This includes Koetter’s time as offensive coordinator:

2017:

34-14 road loss to Vikings

25-23 home win vs. Giants

2016:

40-7 road loss to Cardinals
37-32 home loss vs. Rams

27-7 home loss to Broncos
17-14 road win vs. Panthers

43-28 home loss to Falcons
36-10 home win vs. Bears

2015*

42-14 home loss to Titans
26-19 home win vs. Saints

34-23 road loss to Panthers (Bucs late TD)
38-31 home win vs. Jaguars

*Joe’s not counting the 2015, 14-point loss to the Giants at home since that was a much closer game. The Giants outscored the Bucs in the fourth quarter. But the Bucs bounced back with a win the following week. Also, the Bucs bounced back after the famous Capitol Collapse, the crushing one-point loss at Washington, where the Bucs led 24-0 early. Tampa Bay beat Atlanta in overtime the following week.*

So as head coach, the Bucs are 3-1 after rough losses under Koetter. With him as offensive coordinator, they’re 2-0 — (or 4-0 if you included the games in italics above).

This is a good omen for the product the Bucs will put on the field against Buffalo. Koetter’s Bucs offenses are averaging 29 points a game after the team gets drubbed.

Koetter is solid after loses? Idk that. Encouraging. We need to beat the bills for a comeback. Idk about this year as long djx crying about the football jw will continue to decline. Deactivate djx. We can’t keep him happy

  2. ShutTheBucUp Says:

What were the records of the teams we “bounced back” on? Guessing they weren’t winning records… Face it, the Bucs are not a competitive team. Culture hasn’t changed, at least not once they hit the field. Same old sh!t.

Michael Bennett is an idiot. Sorry for going off topic.

  4. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

If the defense is unable to contain the run game of the Bills, this could very well be an ugly loss. Shady & 2T will eat them up if they bring their Arizona game.

    WHAT????….BS….
    -we barely beat a cam-less panthers team…
-the bears only won what 3 or 4 games last year…..str8 trash!!!!..#2 overall pick….
-and we beat a giants team that only has 1 win this year….

    LOLOL….nice try tho….GO BUCS!!!!

  6. Defense Rules Says:

Joe, is Ryan Fitzpatrick starting Sunday? Will VHIII still be playing outside corner? Have we added any DEs yet this week? Just curious …

  7. Buc50 Says:

My problem is not the bounce back record but the fact that we get so much practice.

  8. mike10 Says:

Suck less, Koetter… not just after you get blown out, please.

LOL! Joes – I’m sorry. This just isn’t going to work out for the Bucs this year. I really hope this does not hurt your website. True shame you gents are not associated with a team deserving of your expert coverage. Just think of the fun it would be covering a winner. JoePatsfan.com!

What hot garbage lol is this a joke? Bounce back after a blowout? If anything your making Dirk look worse as a coach. Blowouts happen when you don’t have talent or your not prepared, did you see the number of beat downs you just listed?

Your just making me want the Glazer’s to start over with a new coach

  11. GhostofSchiano Says:

Bills are tougher than you think, nervous about this game

  12. darin Says:

I guess thats why we seem to be alternating wins and losses. So prepare for 8-8 with dirk. Its a shame. Team is talented. I guess the week after he quits he wants to win. Buffalos defense is legit, theyd better be ready

If this is the kind of mental gymnastics we have to do to feel good about Sunday’s game on the road then I think it speaks volumes about where many think this team really is deep down.

Here’s a thought…How about the team prepares the same way they do for a bounce back for *every* game.

Hard evidence? One important point left out, only one (1) of those games the Bucs won were road games. With such a small sampling size, I’m not sure how much of an omen there really is, hope you’re right Joe!

  15. DallasBuc Says:

Strong blowout history. How many of those have winning coaches had over the same period of time. It’s indicting

  16. Bucsfanman Says:

Lets stop having bad games to bounce back from. Hmmm? Isn’t that a novel idea?!

  17. 813bucboi Says:

so dirk as a HC has 5 blowouts and counting!!!!!!….that’s at least 2 blowouts per season LOL….so I guess its smart to say we’ll get blown out at least 1 more time this year….GO BUCS!!!!

    WHAT????….BS….”

He’s literally just listing facts lol… nothing “BS” about it.

Talk sh1t if you want but the comment makes no sense.

  19. Not there yet Says:

Facts? As far as facts go that’s as useless as they come. That’s the history of Dirk and does not indicate what kind of game the bucs will have. Especially the core players over time is growing and learning. The defense playing that bad or timid could be as simple as getting Kwon back to man center field. We don’t know what team will show up after a blowout, w we have a weak-minded team that could already be thinking about the off-season for all we know

Obviously it doesn’t mean anything necessarily. No one is saying it does.

Do you have anything constructive to say? Or should we all jump off a bridge together over the Bucs having a bad loss last week?
