Hey Joe, what happened to this defense. They got emberasd in one game agents the Cards and now it’s like the whole defense just falls apart. I mean it looks like the coaches hit the panic button after one game and we’re all of sudden playing really scared on D. Why are we playing so many safteys. It actually looks like we’re staying in our gaps to long, waiting for the play to come to them. We’re not attacking at all. Wtf man. Are they just trying to do what the coaches ask or are they scared to make a mistake. Our DB’s are to slow to play man and we don’t have the pass rush to play zone.

Oh shut the hell up Unbelievable. YOU..were the main cheerlader couple yrs ago about how Smith and Koetter were the 2nd coming from the heavens. You frantically waived your skirt and pom poms sayin they were gonna turn it around. So all of your points are MOOT>

  4. WyomingBucsFan Says:

Anyone notice the linebackers were invisible all game. I remember 51 making a tackle or two and the LVD fumble but that’s it. WTF was Kwon doing out there? He looked uninterested. I saw him just holding his blocker up like he’s playing nose tackle. WTF is wrong with these guys. Maybe this is a mutiny we’re witnessing. I just don’t get it.

    Joe:

I enjoy your podcast very much, however, you need to start pointing the finger at one person and person only…Jason Licht.
    He brought Chris Baker here
He ignored the edge rush for years.
He drafted more from luxury then by need…when we clearly had gaping holes to fill.
He has brought in way to many ineffective free agents…

So Mike smith and Dirk Koetter can only cook with the ingredients they have…and so far, they have not been given much ( on the defensive side of the ball ).

Start calling Jason Licht out..he should be fired this year…simple as that!

  6. Locked In Says:

It’s all in the plan. Next year we’ll build up the defense. We’re going to draft a quick, shifty, ball hawking CB, a hard hitting safety, and an edge rusher that moves like a cat and bends like Gumby. We’ll add a couple of top FA’s like a big, fat DT and a pro-bowl safety with super bowl experience. Problem solved.

  7. DoNUTS Says:

Its time for coaching and player change on the DEF side of the ball. I agree with starting with Baker. He is a cancer and has been since HS. His rep precedes him. I think GMC is still working hard with little help around him. Kwon looked rusty (tackles and position issues) and Gholston also missed tackles.

I think the league has caught up with Mike Smith. His inability to change D to adjust to what the offense is doing is his greatest weakness.

  8. unbelievable Says:

Poor Mike Johnson is still butthurt that Lovie dovie was fired.

I cheered for Koetter, not for Mike smith. I wanted Jim Schwartz for our def coordinator when Koetter was hired. Go back and look through the archives if your panties up are in that big of a bunch about it.

I approved of Mike smiths job after the drastic turnaround during the 2nd half of last season. Thought it would carry over, but clearly it hasn’t.

Would you prefer to go back to 2-14 with Lovie? You can go root for Illinois you know? I’m sure they need some loyal butthurt fans…

  9. Kobe Faker Says:

JIm Schwartz would never have accepted the tampa bay def coord job because of our lack of talent on the dline

schwartz doesnt believe in blitzing but relys on just straight up pressure from the front 4

Schwartz knew he would never be successful with tampas personnel

  10. WyomingBucsFan Says:

Jim Schwartz is a wanker of the highest degree. Why is it when a guy has a little success he’s all of a sudden the next Lombardi.

  11. ClodHopper Says:

I’d like to be the first one in line for a giveaway if the Bills score 30 points again this year. I ain’t expensive. A coffee cup like the one above will suffice. 😁

  12. Bob Higginbotham Says:

Steve, we are feeling the same pain! I believe that the coaches are not at fault! The players are not performing consistently! As always, I love your offerings!

  13. Joeypoppems Says:

I really do believe changing things up to run more 34 looks could help the pass rush.

Play Baker as the NT with GMC and Ayers as the DEs and Blitz Spence and LVD from the LB spot.

They gotta try something creative. What’s the worst that could happen? Its hard for this defense to play much worse

  14. Tnoles Says:

Hey Joe just listened to the podcast enjoyed it. Couple of questions, you mentioned Rex if things continue with the defense what about bringing him in next year as D-coordinator? Also what about us running more 3-4? I heard the coach say it’s not about alignment but I don’t buy that I think we have more 3-4 type players some being hybrid types than 4-3 with no pressure. I agree with blizting more as an option also. Thanks?
