Dirk Koetter Ties A Chucky-Era Mark

October 1st, 2017

Home cookin’ is real

What’s happening inside the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway feels a lot like a Big Foot sighting, or the appearance of a Bucs cheerleader swimming in Joe’s pool and asking if she can hang for a while.

Your Buccaneers have won six consecutive games at home. SIX!

After getting chain-whipped by the Falcons at home last year and whimpering to a 3-5 record, the Bucs have been perfect in Tampa. It was four straight wins to close last season at home and now two to start 2017.

Joe hounded the research crew of the Bucs this evening, and the last time Tampa Bay won six in a row at home was in 2008. There was no carryover from the previous season, as the Bucs lost their final regular season home game in 2007, plus their home playoff game.

Joe asked Koetter about winning six home games in a row tonight after Tampa Bay edged the Giants. Joe wanted to know whether the coach feels the team is actually coming out and playing differently at home.

Well, Koetter had no interest in going there. All he said was something like it’s time to win the next home game on Thursday.

Yes, Thursday the Bucs face the reeling Belicheats and Tom Brady, who engineered a hell of a comeback today at home against the Panthers, only to be thwarted by Cam Newton and an effective Panthers running game on the game’s final and winning drive.

Don’t look now, but the Belicheats are 2-2 and looking very beatable.

Joe listened to a lot of the Patriots game on their radio network, and their announcers literally were moaning about how if the Panthers can’t shut down Newton and his receivers, then they’ll get abused by Mike Evans, DeSean Jackson and Jameis Winston.

On paper, we actually look pretty good for Thursday, right? Defense getting healthier and playing better. Offense picking up with improving run game that should get another boost with Doug coming back. O-line gelling. GO BUCS!!!

The experience Beckwith is getting with Kwon out is probably going to make a huge difference in the second half of the season.

Dungy just picked the Bucs over the Pats Thursday night. I wish he had not done that.

Brady is gonna be pissed! Pats are a good team coming off a loss. I’d actually feel better about this game if the patriots had beat the panthers.

“if the Panthers can’t shut down Newton and his receivers”

I think you meant to say Patriots, not Panthers.
