Very Good To Great

High praise. (Photo courtesy of Buccaneers.com)

As Joe informed prized JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman this summer when discussing “Hard Knocks,” Bucs middle linebacker Kwon Alexander is a laid back, chill dude off the field.

This is why Joe never thought Alexander would be featured much on “Hard Knocks.”

On the field? Look out!

But the one thing that gets Alexander worked up if not royally p!ssed off is when folks diss the Bucs linebackers as a whole, or to be more direct, him. Just ask Willie McGinest.

Joe wonders how Alexander will react to the following:

Good guy Peter Schrager of NFL Network, who proudly boasts he is an honorary member of the Stick Carriers, recently gave Alexander major props. The serious run for Alexander (and the Bucs later in the video) came when Schrager selected Alexander to be one of the top five breakout players this NFL season.

Schrager believes Alexander will go from very good, to great.

“He’s going to be a household name,” Schrager said of Alexander. “He is a tackle machine.”

Watch Schrager’s full breakdown in the video below.

Even cooler is him calling our LBs the best in the NFL. What a difference from 4 years ago. Wow!!

Schrager’s one of my favorites, thanks for the clip Joe.

Hey Joe, I’m a former Tampa resident from the 70’s and have been a die-hard Bucs fan from day 1. Living in SoCal now, I work with a corporation who’s headquarters is in Clearwater and fortunately get to come back to the Bay Area annually for conferences and was just there in May. I’ve got many friends throughout Florida and woke up this morning stunned by the news Irma is now predicted to be heading directly to Tampa.

I saw on CNN that the Dolphins’ owner is taking his team and all family members to Los Angeles for the week for safety and practice. The Rays series with the Yankees this weekend has been moved to NYC.

Can you please tell us non-Floridian Bucs fans what the Bucs plans are for their team? Is everyone on their own to find safety, or is the team and family staying together and moving to a place of safety?

Geez, now Senator Rubio is on CNN saying anyone near the water in Tampa Bay needs to move and move now. God bless all of you back in Tampa area, many prayers for your safety.

Know has been the best player on defense for the last 2 seasons – and that’s not a knock on anyone, he’s just played that well. David at mideseason and beyond probably took that title once Mike Smith finally started letting him move around and cause havoc, but overall it was still Kwon for the season. McCoy and Grimes also had very good seasons.

Every time I see and hear Peter Schrager he reminds me of Jon Lovitz.

  6. Cobraboy Says:

I’m beginning to wonder of Irma could affect the Bucs opener against Chicago.

    Alexander the Great!
