“The Dirty South”

September 5th, 2017

Where football is king.

“The Dirty South” rules the football world. That’s life according to America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.

Yes, tonight is the final episode of this season’s “Hard Knocks,” featuring the Bucs. Joe is very sorry to see it end (though Joe’s prized columnist, eye-RAH! Kaufman, is happy to see it end). And in one of the last promo clips sent out on social media, the NFL Films-produced series is highlighting — who else? — America.

In the clip below, Jameis talks about “The Dirty South.” That’s the region of the country that could also be called “the South.” It’s where football is king and football means more to its citizens than anywhere else in the nation.

Jameis rattles off the states included in “The Dirty South.” Yes, Florida is part of that group, but only parts of it. South Florida might as well be a big city up north with a tropical beach, Jameis said.

Jameis also added that those who grew up in “The Dirty South” have a competitive advantage over those who didn’t.

Joe has two quick thoughts:

1. Jameis said South Florida is not part of “The Dirty South.” Whoa there Jameis. Joe hopes Jameis is talking about South Beach, and not Palm Beach County or Miami. Quite a few excellent football players came from South Florida who would wholeheartedly disagree with Jameis there, including some of his former college teammates. Michael Irvin surely would have something to say about that. Has Jameis never heard of “Muck City?”

2. Joe knows Jameis all but idolizes Tom Brady. One of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history is not from “The Dirty South,” nor did he go to college in “The Dirty South.”

You can watch Jameis explain about “The Dirty South” in the video below.

I hated those Jimmy Johnson Miami teams but you gotta give it up to that generation of Canes. They were as good as any team or area in the nation.

@ the 2nd poster from the top

Sometimes, is better than always sounding like an idiot.

    “Lets Make America Brate Again.”
Your shot at clever turned into a shot in the foot.

Americas QB don’t like you using his name in vain. Don’t like you not referring to his TE with using his first name. AND MOST IMPORTANT.

Don’t like you making fun of and twisting his Presidents idea’s.

  11. JAB83 Says:

  14. Wesley Says:

The “south” does rule football (h.s. and college), this is universally known. Don’t look for a fight when there isn’t one Joe.

Florida, California and Texas are the Holy Trinity/Mecca/Walling Wall for football in America. According to Max Preps, Florida produces more NFL players than the bottom 24 states combined. #1 is Florida with 239 NFL Floridians, #2 is California with 220 Californians in the NFL and Texas is #3 with 214 in the NFL. Sorry about Louisiana, and no disrespect to them, but they only have 62 players in the NFL. Florida, Cali and Texas are 3 times that number. Hey Joe, Brady is from Cali, which is on par with Florida and Texas from the Dirty South. According to Max Preps, the “Dirty South” has 6 in the top ten of States with the most players from their state, including Florida, Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana and North Carolina. It’s why I always laugh at Patriots fans who claim to have superior football knowledge to us Floridians. Saban, Meyer and Jimbo love Florida and their superior football players created by superior football knowledgable Florida coaches, and could care less about the inferior football knowledge people and talent coming from Massachusetts or New Hampshire as they have only produced 10 NFL players between the two of them.

  18. Lamarcus Says:

    Someone was missing. No show???

  19. Rod Munch Says:
