“Fantastic”

Winning Bucs coach Dirk Koetter isn’t one to throw around accolades much. But he sure did in his postgame presser.

When asked how his defense played, specifically the rush defense, Koetter couldn’t hold back.

“Fantastic!” Koetter said of holding the Bears to a paltry 20 yards rushing. “Twenty yards rushing [and] four turnovers in the first half. You are going to win a lot of games if you can do that each week.”

It wasn’t just Koetter raving about the defense. So too were defenders about being a stone wall for the talented Bears running backs.

“I think it says we have been practicing hard and the coaches came up with a great gameplan,” said defensive end Will Gholston, who had five tackles himself.

“It all started up front with Gerald [McCoy], [Robert] Ayers and Gholston clogging the lanes,” said safety T.J. Ward.

Bears running backs Jordan Howard, who had over 1,300 yards rushing last year, and newcomer Tarik Cohen are a formidable duo. And the Bucs knew it and it seemed from talking to players, the sole focus of the defense sure was stopping the run and taking their chances with Mike Glennon airing it out.

As a defense, we knew we had a focus on that,” Kendell Beckwith said.

Oooouu thank you Licht for going to get this dude.

  3. NOSBOS Says:

    When he gets comfortable.. Maaannn.

  4. NOSBOS Says:

Defense A-(VH3 should’ve caught that pick in the endzone) Offense B- overall B+ we’ll blame it on rust. Wait to y’all see the A+ overall game. OMG.

Were gonna see it next week I hope, NOS.

    And I can’t f@#king wait!

  6. Rod Munch Says:

Can’t wait to see T.J. Ward get more reps with the team and to see what he can do. However Conte still being a starter… ugh, my gawd… Anywho it all worked out today – but I agree with NOS, VH3 has to catch that ball, my fantasy team got killed by that point swing.

  7. Carter Says:

Extending Mike Smith was the best signing the Bucs made last off season

  8. DB55 Says:

I thought mark Barron was back on the team but the jersey said Ward. What a hit! Big time!

  9. RayJameisStadium Says:

This does not make it right, but I think they ran on empty gas after the two minute warning. Time to get the cardio up to par this week.

Great win!! But I still can’t believe we gave up 300 yards passing to F#@king Mike Glennon!!!! OMFG!!!

Love the result. Not sure if it was the Bucs being good or the Bears being unbearable. Being from Chicago, da Bears lost their bear-ings after Halas died in ’85. McCaskey, a lawyer, married into the Halas family and has been running the show since then. Amazing that Lovie took da Bears to the super Bowl after Halas died. The Chicago fandom has been wondering through the desert since then.

Trubinsky is just waiting…. Glennon did OK, but without any run support(or mobility), receivers, well it played out the way it should have. Bucs beat a team they should have. Let’s not pretend otherwise, real test next week. Vikes really stomped Brees. we need to do the same. GO BUCS

I was very impressed by the pressure from that front 4. Didn’t hear anything from Mr. Baker today, though.

He’s a NT. His job isn’t really to get sacks. His job is to eat up blockers and stuff the middle. I’d say he did pretty well.

  15. Eric Says:

Looks like our bucs actually have a lot of good players at multiple positions.

    Lordy.

  16. BigMacAttack Says:

    No complaints today. None whatsoever.

  17. BigMacAttack Says:

And Dirk pulled his player late. Smart move, thinking long haul.

  18. JameisDungy Says:

Has to be brought up it. Is it no coincidence that Matt Ryan has become such a better QB since Dirk left Atlanta?

The play calling has looked incredible the last couple of years. Meanwhile Dirk’s play calling in Tampa seems to get worse by the year.

    Probably just another Tmaxipad persona

  23. cmurda Says:

There’s no way he could be serious Hawaiian. Dirk is a stud. The Falcons are better because of their defense. How could anyone find a complaint with Dirk’s outstanding gameplan and playcalling?

  24. Issic Haggins Says:

Have to give C Conte some props 7 tackles and knocking one rec silly , Grimes was also had a great run support game with some sure tackling

  25. TrollSlayer Says:

this week hope the focus is offense against minnesota— our defense should do well against the vikings offense especially if sam bradford does not play then all you need to do is gameplan to stop cook and get after case keenum whos burned us before and i know you all remember that(thanks lovie) lol but minnesota has a nasty defense WAY better secondary than chicago lets see some tightening up on offense for this one

  26. lambchop Says:

Swaggy better show up next game otherwise he’s a horrible pickup with that lazy attitude of his.
