Bucs Dump McNichols; New RB On The Way?

September 2nd, 2017

Dumped

NFL Network is reporting the Bucs have cut rookie fifth-round pick Jeremy McNichols.

Uncle Snoop is going to be pissed off.

Will McNichols be back on the practice squad? Maybe. Solid shot. We’ll know in a matter of hours.

Now the bigger question is whether the Bucs will add a running back they like better later today or tomorrow, after 1,000+ players have been cut around the league.

McNichols appeared to be the fourth running back on the depth chart.

Joe is slightly surprised. Some insiders around the NFL considered McNichols a third-round caliber talent entering the draft. And he certainly had great production and versatility in college.

Will the Bucs turn to a veteran on the street? Joe’s not lobbying for Bobby Rainey, who was just released by the Ravens. But he does know Koetter’s offense after 16 games here in 2015, and certainly is capable of being a No. 4 back.

    Told ya so

  3. Zwak Says:

Didn’t see that one coming! Wow

  4. AlteredEgo Says:

“Some around the NFL considered McNichols a third-round caliber talent entering the draft”….with a 3rd grade mind

  5. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

Hope Atlanta cuts Brian Hill as expected. Their rb room is way too crowded and Hill was my favorite late round back in this draft. He’s a big physical MOSTER between the tackles. Which is exactly what we need.

  6. webster Says:

Practice squad. Dont over think this. The bucs are not bringing in another back I dont think. They will ride with sims, barber and rodgers until martin is back.

  7. Mike Johnson Says:

Kinda expected this. Kid can play. He might need more development. He did not appear to be to bright..in picking up things in camp. Wish him luck.

  8. Defense Rules Says:

Hmmm, I thought he’d stick as the 4th RB … until Martin returned. Guess that Licht & Koetter had seen enough. IF McWeapon makes it to the PS, doubt any other teams would pick him up since I think they’d have to put him on their active roster.

  9. NFLNut Says:

Kid seemed unmotivated and that’s inexcusable!

The good news is the extremely deep Giants cut 27 year old DE Devin Taylor (11.5 sacks over last 2 years)!~

  10. ryan Says:

    nice pick Licht

  11. NFLNut Says:

Kid seemed unmotivated and that’s inexcusable!

The good news is the extremely deep Giants cut 27 year old DE Devin Taylor (11.5 sacks over last 2 years)!

  12. NJBucsFan Says:

&NFLNut. I’d like to see Taylor brought in as well

  13. NFLNut Says:

Had Licht either re-signed McDougald OR drafted Von Bell instead of Aguayo in 2015, he could have easily packaged last year’s 5th rounder (McCut) w/ last year’s 2nd rounder (Justin Evans) to get either DALVIN COOK or JOE MIXON … wow

  14. Dano74 Says:

    Very disappointing .

  15. JameisDungy Says:

Should have drafted Alvin Kamara in the 2nd round when we had the chance or moved around to try to get the RB in Kansas City, or moved up for Cook, etc etc

Bucs have some of slowest RBs in the league.

  16. Dano74 Says:

    Bucs rb’s are Blah

  17. JameisDungy Says:

    NFLNut

    Well said.

  18. DoNUTS Says:

    GOAT

Really nice observation on Brain Hill and agree 100%. Knowing the Falcons…they will keep him.. and drop BJ Daniels…ex USF QB who is currently a RB

  19. Dano74 Says:

Bucs wasted their 2 no pick when they could of had a DE or RB

  20. JameisDungy Says:

Falcons have the kind of RBs that are so explosive it opens up things for those WRs.

Defenses know that they have to respect the run or worry about the checkdown cause those guys are great in the open field.

We’ve got playmakers on the outside, but no one respects our running game.

  21. NJBucsFan Says:

I’d like to see Jake Elliot come in for a try out. Great kicker

  22. JWBUCS Says:

I imagine we will see Jeremy coming back, serving on the Practice Squad and hopefully he becomes far more serious about studying and absorbing Coaches Offensive Playbook and scheme….

This rookie has great raw talent and ball catching abilities, but he will require a whole level of help, unlike a Chris Godwin.

  23. JameisDungy Says:

TJ Ward released! Go get him!

Don’t wait on Evans to develop.

  24. Cobraboy Says:

Should come as no surprise to anyone. I won’t be surprised if he isn’t signed to the PS.

Seems Auclair is on the 53. Johnson cut, so Alan Cross is breathing a little easier.

  25. SCBucsFan Says:

Louis Murphy got cut for SF too

  26. BridleOaksBuc Says:

If it came down to this, one missed assignment and Jameis is done for the year or worse….ala Phillips and Young…that would have been terrifying to watch

  27. NFLNut Says:

Sign TJ Ward and Devin Taylor and then offer McCut and Justin Evans to the Bengals, Vikings or Saints for Mixon/Cook/Kamara … oh right, McCut and Evans suck and Mixon/Cook/Kamara look like future stars … never mind.

  28. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    Why^^^^
TJ ward AND JJ Wilcox are basically the same player. Both are very physical, and both struggle in coverage.

  29. C-rock Says:

He reminds me of how Michael Pittman runs….

  30. webster Says:

    Nflnut

How do you know that? All you arm chair gms are funny. Its a 5th round pick. How many 5th round picks stick in the nfl. Like many have said, this guy could be on the practice squad. Fyi arm chair gms…….there is no gm in history of any sport that have hit on all their picks. Expecting such make you look clueless and a typical uneducated tampa fan which only add to the fire of why many laugh at us. Stop the madness!!!!

  31. NFLNut Says:

BTW, Josh Johnson, Matt Barkley and Osweiler were all cut and all might be better than Fitzpatrick … any way we cut Fitz and sign a new backup?

  32. BridleOaksBuc Says:

Also would be surprised if he clears waivers to make it on the PS

  33. Cobraboy Says:

@ webster: The best GM to be is a 20/20 Hindsight GM…

  34. SCBucsFan Says:

Essentially many in this board want picks 1-7 to be pro bowlers every year, if not Licht blew it

  35. NFLNut Says:

    SIGN JAKE ELLIOT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  36. NFLNut Says:

Aguayo got cut by the Bears … wow, greatest NCAA kicker to this … sad

  37. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

We are a much better team than we used to be. If a bunch of 5th rounders make this roster we are in trouble.

  38. NFLNut Says:

SCBucsFan … don’t get me wrong … I am a big Licht fan, big fan! However, when the Bucs traded up into the 2nd round in 16′ I was sure it was for safety Von Bell but Licht took Aguayo … then this year I would have packaged the 2nd and a later pick to move up and grab Dalvin Cook, Joe Mixon or Alvin Kamara and Licht stayed out and took Justin Evans and later McNichols in the 5th … those were HORRIBLE DECISIONS … I’m still a Licht fan but having Von Bell and Dalvin Cook right now would be awesome!

“Dude I saw the highlights. This kid ain’t no Martin clone and it’s not even close. Martin in is current form is better than Jeremy McNichols. Martin in college was MUCH better. Good luck making the team kid”

  40. Pete Mitchell Says:

Hope McNichols makes it to the practice squad. He’s a good runner, just needs some professional coaching and time to develop.

  41. Waterboy Says:

Missed 5th round pick oh well no huge loss.

  42. rayjay1122 Says:

So we cut Sinbad. Yes, I thought he resembled actor/comedian Sinbad in the face.

I hope the kid makes it somewhere. I think he can be an average NFL RB once he gets another chance somewhere.

  43. Buc1987 Says:

    Okay just one more…

    Buc1987 Says:

“So much cream at the top of the rb class and the Bucs chose the bottom of the barrel.”

  44. BKNYfootballhead Says:

We should only draft future HOFers. Why is it so hard to recognize this in the present? History needs to be revised because we know better now.

  45. darin Says:

Pretty good rbs already cut yesterday. Once i saw that i knew mcweapon was mctoast. Add in todays cuts and i definitely think the bucs pick up another rb later today or tomorrow. Go Bucs

  46. NFLNut Says:

Joe, create a “cut day” thread so we can all post in it … it’s kind of weird this McNichols thread is turning into the cut-day thread, no?

  47. R.O. Says:

I bet he’ll be back on the practice squad when he clears waivers. The problem seems to be understanding the playbook and protections. Perfect example of developing draft picks.

  48. mike10 Says:

Jamaal Charles will probably be released. “One of the most under appreciated RBs of our generation”

  49. NFLNut Says:

Jameis’ homeboys Travis Rudolph and Chris Casher were both cut from the Giants … why is it that most FSU receivers fail at the NFL level?

  50. NFLNut Says:

Ryan Matthews cut by Eagles? What happened to that dude?

  51. NFLNut Says:

Lots of available RB’s: Jamaal Charles, CJ2K, Ryan Matthews, Knile Davis, Tim Hightower, etc, etc, etc.

  52. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Joe Haden has been cut by the browns. And T.J. Ward cut by the Broncos.

2 potentially really good Defensive backs that would immediately improve our secondary depth.

  53. NFLNut Says:

Panthers traded a 4th rounder for Punter Andy Lee last year … they just cut him this year …

  54. NFLNut Says:

Blake … Joe Haden was immediately signed by the Steelers … he’s gone bro

  55. unbelievable Says:

This isn’t surprising, the writing was on the wall. His coaches gave him a D- in the run game and a C+ in special teams play. Not exactly “praising” him as joe kept insisting. … For one game, by one coach, as seen on Hard Knocks. Why do you continue to come here, to misrepresent Joe? Your commenting time is nearing an end. –Joe

@blake- didn’t Haden sign with the Steelers already?

  56. dooshlarue Says:

Haden is a Steeler now, I do believe.
    .

  57. NJBucsFan Says:

NFLNut – he had a neck injury last year. He’s supposed to be healthy now but the eagles are tight in cap space. They make bad RB choices. Misery was a miscast for the system. Matthews is better than Blount and Blount is a miscast as well. They have no clue

  58. Blake_bucsfan Says:

I didn’t see that, oh well. Nothing lost, nothing gained.

  59. NFLNut Says:

NJBucsFan … the Eagles are one of those franchises that just seems like they will never win a ring … sad for the fans.

I was a HUGE Donovan McNabb fan back in the day and a Cunningham fan before that and I always felt like that organization was sort of clueless I guess …

  60. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Where is Mike James?

  61. NFLNut Says:

Is anyone betting $$$ on Jets games this year, to lose that is … I mean, it seems obvious they are tanking and planning to lose … I agree with that though as they desperately need a franchise QB and with Sam Darnold and Josh Allen in the draft this year, this is the perfect year to tank

  62. NJBucsFan Says:

    Matt Jones getting waived….

  63. LocalJoker Says:

    RB Matt Jones/Redskins is available!

  64. NFLNut Says:

The Colts cut BUG Howard … we have to sign BUG Howard … his name is BUG Howard

ah NFL cut day, gotta love it … at least Bama/FSU is tonight!

  65. NJBucsFan Says:

NFLNut…living outside of the Philly area I can assure you the fans do not deserve a ring. No sleep lost here

  66. NFLNut Says:

Matt Jones got cut? I’m down for signing him; that kid can play!

  67. NJBucsFan Says:

Just remember guys…if a player is released he’s available immediately…if waived he goes through the waiver wire process. Players with less than 4 yrs in are subject to being picked up by teams before we can claim or sign them

  68. BuccaneEric75 Says:

NFL nut, I have a friend that’s an “over the top, every other team sucks, in your face” Jets fan. Don’t bet. It’s just my luck that the Bucs will lose to the Jets for the 3rd time since I’ve known him.

  69. Fred E. Bucs Says:

B-B-B-But…Joe said both McNichols and Sims would BOTH make the final 53. …[Remainder deleted] Misrepresenting Joe is a sport for other websites, not here. –Joe

Crossing my fingers Martin is here in Week4. Look for a star rising in the East, as I think it’s miracle on the way. All good.

  70. RayJameisStadium Says:

    Rainey fits the scheme.

Zuttah was also released. hmmm… Bucs backup?

  71. Billy buc Says:

I will puke if the bring Rainey back.

    Lighten up Francis.

  73. LOLBuc Says:

    Matt jones cut by redskins

  74. JabooBuc Says:

I predict Matt Jones to come here. Tampa kid and tough downhill runner. We are missing that in our current stable

  75. bigblock690 Says:

Could’ve had Dalvin Cook and been set at rb

  76. mike10 Says:

    Bobo the clown cut.

    Bye Felicia

  77. unbelievable Says:

Matt Jones would certainly be interesting.

But would he replace another RB or fill McNichols’ spot?

I think they might just be waiting to see how Quizz / Barber do in the absence of Doug…

  78. SB Says:

Matt Jones was cut because Samaje Perine is the “Total Package” according to Jay Gruden.

  79. Destinjohnny Says:

    Mistake

  80. Greg Says:

Matt Jones was just released. Could be a great addition.

  81. darin Says:

I like matt jones too. Alot of rbs already…rainey, kne davis, fitz toussant, dunuan harris, ridley, hillman, ryan mathews, asiata, kelvin taylor, c2k, hightower. Plenty more to come. Guessing we sign one of them. We need another DE too. Brian cox got cut. Just dont go back to kourtnei brown. Wonder if they give tj ward a look too. Time for JL to build them bottom. Go Bucs

  82. tnew Says:

I never understand the joy from those who are “fans” of their own team when a draft pick doesn’t work out. He was a fifth round pick. There was a good risk/reward pick. We had hope that he would work out. He could still end up on our PS. I have to believe the Bucs have their eye on some other expected cuts at this position.

  83. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Btw McNichols wasn’t cut he was waived.

  84. JR Allen Says:

totally not surprise. HE was terrible

  85. Getaclue Says:

“Bucs wasted their 2 no pick when they could of had a DE or RB”

Fake news, Bucs drafted Noah Spence in the second and packaged their third round to move up and get Aguayo. Matt Jones is “alright” he was out played by Rob Kelly too though there. Much rather we would of signed Gillasee instead of him going to New England

  86. unbelievable Says:

Yea I’m thinking they def go practice squad with mcnic if no one picks him up.

It would be good for him to have a whole year studying the same playbook to be honest. Then he’ll know his assignments by next season.

  87. BucEmUp Says:

Maybe he’s been chilling with the D O Double G a lil too much and thats why he can’t remember the playbook

  88. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

I also like Alex Collins rb from Seattle. He was just waived. The common theme here is we need a PHYSICAL RUNNER!!!

  89. NJBucsFan Says:

I hope we can replicate what NE does with backup QBs….draft…showcase…trade when market is right.

  90. BuccaneEric75 Says:

GOAT, I’ve been calling for Alex Collins since last years draft. Give him a shot.

  91. Cobraboy Says:

I’m not so sure McNichols “loved football,” a New Bucs requirement.

  92. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Blake, cut vs waived is the same. It’s just that vets, I think after 4 years, don’t go through the waver wire.

  93. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Bigblock, you’re right, assuming a team ahead of us was willing to trade down.

  94. Defense Rules Says:

Forget RB, we’re OK there going with 3 until Martin comes back in Game 4. Bucs desperately need more depth at (1) DE and (2) CB. Several candidates out there right now, and shortly there’ll be even more.

  95. Defense Rules Says:

Joe, I can account for 22 cuts so far plus 3 more on IR plus Martin suspended. I assume we started with 90 so that’d be 11 more cuts yet to come to go from 90 to 53. Any clues in the back alleys as to who they’ll be?

  96. Nano Says:

So much for Martin being cut, right Joe?
    Time to eat crow. Lol
Joe has written countless times that the Martin decision will go down to the wire (Week 4) and be based, in part, on the performance and health of the other Bucs running backs in his absence. To say otherwise is total BS. –Joe

  97. Blake_bucsfan Says:

    @Nano

Joe will never eat crow for anything he’s wrong about. Be careful calling him out on it tho. He might just ban you for “misrepresenting” him
Joe is wrong many times, just like you and every GM in the NFL. This is a great example of misrepresenting Joe. –Joe

  98. Jeagan1999 Says:

I’ll bet the Jets would take a case of Budweiser in exchange for Matt Forte.

  99. Bobby M. Says:

The Pats just traded some decent picks to Carolina for a DE…then cut the guy before the preseason ended. Aguayo was a bad pick but it happens. You make a mistake and move on.

  100. darin Says:

I wouldnt doubt if we signed eric weems to be kick returner. Familiar faces to dirk n smitty seem to make them happy.

  101. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    @blake
Yes, very hypocritical. Seem to be to high on themselves.

  102. Fred E. Bucs Says:

Fred, it is sad that you can’t see in your previous comment that posted (scroll up) that Joe did not delete that Joe wrote Sims and McNichols would make the roster. Go look at it. It is sitting right there. See, this is a great example of misrepresenting Joe. Joe is not hiding from what’s written on this website. Never has. Sometimes you’re right; sometimes you’re not. We all learn that in 2nd grade. Your other malicious comments are trashed. Joe is running a business here and has no interest in investing time/babysitting comments that attack Joe’s credibility without merit. If you can’t understand that, then, well there’s not much to say. –Joe

  103. Buc you Says:

He sucks! Matter of fact I looked up “he sucks” in Websters and there he was. Along with his buddies, Sims and Rodgers. Fitzpatrick was in the back photo bombing… wouldn’t waste even a practice squad position for this dude. Snoop must of sent him some bad brownies, guy looked depressed!

  104. Rod Munch Says:

LOL to all those people that us McNichols was going to take Doug’s job and he’d be even better!

McNichols, if he makes it to the practice squad, I think might be OK next year at this time. He’s obviously a slow learner and I’m guessing if he has a year to learn the offense then he can just react instead of thinking, then perhaps he can contribute.

I feel good for Barber, he clearly outplayed McNichols this preseason and wasn’t punished for being an UDFA.

  105. Buc you Says:

He sucks! Matter of fact I looked up “he sucks” in Websters and there he was. Along with his buddies, Sims and Rodgers. Fitzpatrick was in the back photo bombing… wouldn’t waste even a practice squad position for this dude. Snoop must of sent him some bad brownies, guy looked depressed

  106. Rod Munch Says:

This is like all those people that said last year that Vitale was the next Mike Alstott.

  107. Mr. E Nigma Says:

So much for the Martin supplanter. Who would draft someone the coaches aren’t even able to coach up? Sounds like they took him on a whim in the draft because they surely couldn’t have done their research. If Rodgers goes down they have Barber and Sims. Barber isn’t scaring anyone at this stage and Sims is what he is. I’m preparing myself for all the excuses of why the running game is horrible. First will be the RB we bring in isn’t ready yet. Then Martin will be rusty. Next will be the OL playing new positions.

  108. Eric Says:

This guy was supposed to be better than Dalvin Cook, according to some local goobers.

Be nice if we had a good running back, to take the heat off Jameis.

But, our GM likes this crew we have for some inexplicable reason.

  109. SB Says:

Coming from someone who has been banned more than ANY JBF poster, whose original username can’t even be typed here I must say that some of you clowns take the cake! Joe is bringing us stuff that National affiliates can’t. An opinionated point of view! You guys Have to like it or you wouldn’t be here every flippin’ day. Some of you cats need to realize that when you point a finger at Joe there are three more pointing back at you. This team is better than it has been in over a decade. Just rejoice in that ish! Joe has a unique market. If you don’t like it then don’t read it.

  110. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

I’m convinced that they wanted Brian Hill, but the failclowns took him a few picks b4 and McWeapon was just the next guy in the rb list

  111. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

Lol they are throwing $hit on the field in Texas.

  112. Defense Rules Says:

Wow, some fans (and media) have short memories. Maybe a brief reminder would help? 2014 record: 2-14. Hmmm. 2015 record: 6-10. Somewhat better. 2016 record: 9-7. Definitely better. We’re only 2 years removed from having the #1 pick in the draft (sounds good, but also means we were the crappiest out of 32 teams). No GM … and no Joe … is going to bat 1000 when it comes to players (funny thing about human beings is that sometimes they don’t live up to your expectations … heck, sometimes we don’t live up to our own expectations). We’ve come a long way as a T-E-A-M in a comparatively short period of time, but we (probably) still have a ways to go. ENJOY THE RIDE !

  113. Rod Munch Says:

SB – I agree with you, part of the fun of Joe Bucs Fan is that it’s the guy at the bar running his mouth who just wants to talk football and has an opinion on everything. Yes Joe has an informed opinion on things, but it’s the opinion that makes it interesting. There is no one more boring in this area that does football coverage than Greg Auman, he’s a complete and total dullard and never has an opinion on anything, which is OK since he’s supposed to be “news” – he’s not writing columns like Ira does. Joe brings you news but isn’t “THE” news.

BUT it’s also fun to bust the balls of the guy at the bar who says something is absolutely going to happen and then it doesn’t happen. When you take a strong stand on something and you’re wrong then you must expect some abuse, that’s just the way it goes. However the people that get worked up and mad over an opinion on football, personally I find it hilarious.

  114. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

I don’t remember who said it, but somebody swore that Derel walker was some kind of stud. He didn’t even make the team

  115. Pa Privateer Says:

Ravens cut C/G Jeremy Zuttah. Just saying

  116. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Lol Goat that would be Bonzai. He said that Walker was going to be the 3rd best receiver on the team.

  117. Tony from Los Angeles Says:

Matt Jones is the best back on the market – but I think the Bucs are fine with the 4 they have. Martin is a legit top 10 back when his head is on straight and people forget that sims was injured most of last year… he was terrific in year 1.

As for the negative naysayers above blabbing about bad draft picks… you can’t have it both ways and fail to mention picks like Kwon, Marpet, etc.

  118. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

This #93 for the gators is NASTY. First step like our 93

  119. Ndog Says:

The Justin Evans pick instead of one of the top backs available is going to haunt us I believe. The problem with that is pretty much every fan wanted a rb and it was clear to everyone that we needed a back but the front office apparently.

  120. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

The only “Top Back” that was available was Kareem Hunt. And he had big questions about him as far as competition. If u wanted to trade up, we would have never got Godwin. Can’t have your cake and eat it too.

  121. Jeremy Says:

LOL and Joe thought this dude was drafted to replace Dougie.

  122. bucs_365 Says:

Jeezus Kreiste. We got a lot of coulda shoulda woulda on here. Thank you Captain Hindsight! This is called a complaint fetish. Let’s move on.

  123. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    Sign T/G – Alex Boone

  124. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Called it.

  125. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Stop hating on Joe. This is an opinion site and Joe had his opinion, which is more educated than ours due to the fact that he sees every practice. He CAN be wrong. No one knows what’s going on inside Dirks head. You can point out his mistakes, but in a respectful way.

  126. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

It took too long to get rid of Bobby Rainey. I would rather they use that 4th spot on a FB/TE.

  127. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Looks like we have a new long snapper.

  128. tnew Says:

Derelict Walker was on the list. Could not believe that misprint?

  130. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

tnew, that is surprising. I didn’t expect him back until at least a few weeks into the season.

  131. LifeOfABucFan Says:

So Depaola and Sanborn both released..Hmmm…

  132. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Ur like 2 hours late. Lol

  138. grafikdetail Says:

B.S. joe!! LOL you betted the house that Martin would be a Buc don’t backtrack now
You guys are a trip. Joe has written here many times stating Martin had about a 15 percent chance of being here in Week 4. There are archives, you know. Joe isn’t backtracking at all. –Joe

  139. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    @ life
They are gaming the system. They have to have Ryan griffin on the 53 in order to put him on IR. So tomorrow when they put him on IR they will bring back sandborn. Because nobody is gonna steal our long snapper.

  140. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Okay, so Dye, Martino, Huff and Walker were all cut.

Doesn’t that leave us with 4 WRs? Are they signing one or using the spots for a TE?

  141. Joeypoppems Says:

I guess this kind of ends my thinking of Peyton Barber and McNichols being the future RB tandem. I wasn’t all that high on McNichols during the draft process in the first place, but when he was picked I unfairly raised my expectations.

What are the chances Peyton Barber gets a legit shot at winning the starting job the first 3 weeks? Or is it just Jaquizz’s job to lose?

No surprise but Roberto was cut by Chicago today.

  144. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    @Life
I may have it mixed up. Either putting Griffin on IR or PUP list

  145. Dreambig Says:

I saw elsewhere that Sefo was put on IR. I didn’t see him get hurt the other night. Wonder if they meant Griffin.

  146. Rod Munch Says:

Bucs should Roberto to the practice squad.

  147. RickV Says:

I’d love to see him on the practice squad. I think he has alot of talent. Just needs time to learn.

  148. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

  150. BigBucFan11 Says:

If you just want to hate on Joe in this thread, there are many other websites you can comment on and talk/read about the bucs. I mean it is HIS opinion and HIS column. Personally, right or wrong I enjoy reading opinions instead of news often, especially from Joe.

  151. Rod Munch Says:

Joe – I’ll have to go back to the podcasts with Ira but one of the Joes said there was NO chance that Martin makes the squad and continued by saying McNichols can do everything Martin can do AND catch the ball so Martin is gone. Man, what is with you people. That hasn’t been the take. –Joe

However in complete fairness I was laughing so hard I could have suffered some sort of oxygen deprivation and I could be remembering the wording wrong and perhaps it wasn’t worded as strongly as I’m saying – but that’s what I recall hearing.

We’ll have to go to the tape and find out…

  152. unbelievable Says:

For the record, I was never hating on joe.

I love this site. I’m here pretty much every single day, and have been for many, many years.

I was simply pointing out something that seemed inaccurate to me, that has been repeated several times in articles and on podcasts. Nothing malicious.

Plus it’s fun to bust the joes’ balls every once in a while 😜 #DontBanMe

  153. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Rod, the Joes said they didn’t think Doug would make the team, but they never said never. Just like your Marcus Jones take, just a little off.

  154. NFLNut Says:

Why do any of you take digs at Joe? This website is awesome and it’s only by Joe’s grace that you’re even allowed to post … I don’t get it.

As for Doug Martin … I think it’s a 100% lock the brass wants him back come week 4 BUT I would like to see his old contract shredded and him have a 1 year “prove it” contract with another 1 year team option attached! He does NOT deserve to just keep his old lucrative deal!

The above said … JOE … when does the team have to decide whether to tear up the old contract and offer him another or have the old contract locked in?

  155. Dano74 Says:

DMartin came and looked sharp and the other RB’s are very avg. Licht had no choice but to bring Martin back.

  156. Howard Cosell Says:

LOL…156 comments…..mainly people saying I told you so to Joe.

I echo JOe’s sentiments: What makes this site fun is that Joe is like
one of your drinking buddies. He has opinions. Sometimes he’s
exactly right, other times he’s wrong. But either way you have fun,
    right?

    That said:
Doug Martin rushes for 1300 yards in 13 games!
Howard has seen a vision upon the mountain and
has carved it into stone tablets. Hence the profane may know.

  157. Not there yet Says:

I don’t think our front office understands like we fans do and if we do not make the playoffs this year I don’t want to hear all this the team is growing, look at running back and defensive end which are the invoices weak links on this roster.

Every team that has playoff aspirations has been active after the draft. Not only our division but look at NFC as a whole and what a team like Seattle did by trading with the Jets. Is a 5th round pick can’t make this team (how many had licht cut

  158. BuccaneEric75 Says:

NFLnut, the contract must be done before week 4. Just remember that he is not getting paid for the one game last season and the 3 this season. Even if the Bucs stick with the deal he’s on now, it’s not 7 million but a little less than 5.5 mil. Either way, we have plenty of cap space, and his deal is not guaranteed after this season. He’s the best back we got. Ride him into the ground cause he will be gone after this season.

  159. Smoky mountain bucs fan Says:

Ray Rice? I said it the other day, everyone deserves another chance. Some get two or three do overs. I mean who hasn’t slapped their wife atleast once? Joke! I’m kidding!! Heard somewhere that the juice is gonna be out again. We live in a forgiving country!

  160. Smoky mountain bucs fan Says:

I’d bet ya Rice is still better than any active back that is currently on the 53 man roster

  161. USFBUC Says:

Hate it for all the guys getting cut but man I love being right about the need for the Bucs to trade away late round picks and go all in on this draft.

  162. SB Says:

Then you Suck at betting Smoky!

  163. DB55 Says:
