Barber: “Eli Cannot Do It Anymore”

September 28th, 2017

Tiki torches. Says body bag is imminent for Eli Manning.

So in how much disarray are the 0-3 New York Giants?

The mess is reaching Ray Handley-era levels, and the Bucs are catching a bad team in meltdown mode.

Let’s start with Tiki Barber, Ronde’s brother. The two will team up in the broadcast booth Sunday on the Bucs-Giants call for FOX.

Tiki Barber hosts a radio show out of New York and spoke of the end of the Manning era before the Giants fell to the Eagles last Sunday.

“It looks ugly. It looks really ugly,” Tiki Barber said via CBSSports.com. “As much as it pains me to say this, Eli cannot do it anymore. I don’t mean that as a knock to Eli. I mean this as a knock to all of these inferior players around him. He can’t make them great.”

Hakeem Nicks. Steve Smith. Kevin Boss. The list goes on.

“(When) all those guys left New York, they were terrible,” Barber said, “which tells me that they were really good in New York because Eli lifted them up. He made them better. He put them in positions to be successful. And right now, he can’t do that anymore. It doesn’t mean he’s a bad quarterback. It just means he’s at the point where he can’t do that any longer.”

Barber, like everyone watching the Giants, is horrified by left tackle Ereck Flowers.

“If Ereck Flowers has a job on Wednesday morning, then Eli Manning might be in a body bag three weeks from now,” Barber said. “… If Ereck Flowers is allowed to protect Eli Manning’s backside any longer, Eli is going to get killed. Ereck Flowers can’t be your left tackle any longer. Ereck Flowers either has to go to tackle or has to go inside to guard or sit on the bench. Whatever it is, he cannot be on Eli’s backside. He’s terrible. He gets run over, he gets bulldozed, he gets bull-rushed, he gets swum through – it doesn’t matter. He’s confused. He’s staring up into the third row into the stands. He can’t figure out what happened to the guy that was standing in front of him. He is going to get Eli killed.”

The Flowers mess is comical. Think worse than Gosder Cherilus versus the Cowboys — every week. The blog BigBlueUnbiased fired up a great video breakdown. Here’s just one.

The Giants are dangerous because of their receiver talent, but the Bucs are catching them at a good time, with no running game and an offensive line in freefall.

And how bout this for a nugget. Eli Manning and the Giants haven’t had a winning season record in road games since their 2011 Super Bowl year.

Buccs are hungry, and there is something cooking at home!

Yep! Grimes, Spence and Baker are practicing. Sorry Joe the “Den” still does not make sense…. 6 in a row coming up.

That took the grin of your face. Shame on you. smh

  3. Tampabaybucfan Says:

All this BS about Manning & their receivers when the focus should be on our offense….it is healthy and we have receivers also….along with TEs….

It’s time for James to earn is moniker of “ProBowler” …..time to strike and score some points….time for Koetter to call a good game and have a decent offensive gameplan…no excuses. We need 35 points…then, and only then, we likely don’t have to worry about Manning beating us again.

  4. Q Says:

We can post interviews from former players that relieves us from games like last week until we are blue in the face …but there’s a history in Tampa in situations like this coming Sunday where both teams seasons basically rely on a win …and we fold….until we take in the moment and siege it like teams like the patriots , Steelers, etc we will some how find a way to make the giants and erik flowers look like the previous 3 games never happened to them….I want to see the bucs Sunday regardless of injuries come in and play and win…its time they go out there and say they may be desperate but this is our game and we need it more …GO BUCS!!!

  5. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Think tiki just jinxed the bucs and eli is gonna have a some great quotes towards him after torching vh3 and smith for 5 hundred

  6. Q Says:

Yeah and on the radio they were talking about how bad the patriots defense is…more bulletin board material for Thursday night’s game also

Jaq smith I hope is playing so we can get to Flowers and help Eli push up daisies.

Joe please get more positive with your posts, it’s like a Giants blog in here right now

Trade Dotson to the Giants for a crate of fruit and a future 5th round draft choice in 2020. Thing is he’ll be an upgrade from Flowers.

this is great opportunity, will Mike Smith take the obvious mis-match? These Buc coaches have 2 of them on both sides of the ball. Exploit Eli Apple and Flowers, BUT will they do it? Will they run DJAX to Apple 24/7 like they should? Will they overload and blitz at Flowers like they should? They haven’t shown that kind of coaching in the past but hopefully that changes Sunday.

  11. Phil Says:

    Hope Spence is back.

You can try to get positive. But look at this what was to be “Pick your poison” Offense! 12 points. And relies on field goals. They are just as bad as they were in the preseason. The ” it will keep defensive coordinators awake at night”? “They can’t defend it”? Still looks great on paper only. And don’t say a word about timing or the red zone. Case had no problem. And you can complete all your passes. If you can’t score that stat is meaningless.

  13. buddah Says:

Sorry guys, but I give the edge to the Giants. This game is their season. They played the Eagles very tough, really outplayed them in the second half. Wre just have too many wounded warriors. We’ll get better after game 4 against the Patriots and we’ll be one of the top 10 teams in the league by season end. But not now.

Are you kidding????? Joe has barricaded himself in his bunker!!!!!!!! We have sent a coded message to see if he has enough mre’s and rations to last the season!!!!!!!!! hopefully he will cough twice or some other sign so the sheep will know that he has not been overrun and captured yet!!!!!

A crate of fruit!?! LOL, funniest thing I’ve ever read.

I hope I am wrong, but I think Eli puts it all together on Sunday and we lose again.
I pray I’m wrong, but I’ve been a Buc fan too long.

  17. Mike Johnson Says:

Eli can’t do it anymore? Perhaps..However all it takes is..one good game. Just ask a Qb named Keenum!!!

Hard to believe that 1 game against the NY Giants this early will define the whole season. Lose to NY with New England coming up the following Thursday will send to Yucs down to a 1-3 start. This with most of our defensive stars either out or injured. Is Baker a star ? Too early to tell. Hope he shows up Sunday. This coupled with the players kneeling for our National Anthem leads to empty seats later. I know the owners will be watching…Very closely.

  19. FortMyersDave Says:

Nothing like Tiki inciting his Giants before the game, probably light a fire under the Giant O and jinx the Bucs as the late Dusty Rhodes said ….. However if Ronde did the same to the Buc secondary I’d suspect it would be as if it fell upon deaf ears with absolutely no motivation except for perhaps hurting GMC’s feelings a bit for disrespecting his team mates…… I am beginning to suspect that the culture of losing is so ingrained in the fans and probably a lot of the staff at One Buc that even if the Bucs started 5-0 and then dropped a game like the Vike game we’d still have posters predicting 5-11 and other trolls using it as a platform to call out their most hated Buc….. The only way to kill the culture of losing is to eliminate losing streaks. No losing streaks (i.e: no 2 losses back to back in a season) at least guarantees a 0.500 season, and likely the playoffs if the team can actually generate a W streak of its own but first the Bucs have to beat this bad Giant team that Tiki just called out….

  20. 813bucboi Says:

I wouldn’t count eli out just yet….tiki just a straight up hater….they won it all the year after he left….that’s why he’s so salty…

we should get a win this sunday…baker has had success against the giants…lets see what type of “game plan” the coaches come up with…GO BUCS!!!

  21. grafikdetail Says:

that was a horrible blocking scheme… coaches always try to force a square into a round peg… forget your stupid scheme & just play to a player’s strength
