Training Camp Notes Day 15

August 20th, 2017

Had a day today.

Active morning for many Bucs players, both with nicks and bruises, and those who got on the practice fields.

* Today was a Good Jameis day. More later.

* Mike Evans with a juggling catch over a cornerback while tapping feet inbounds along the right sideline from America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston. Such good feet for a tall guy.

* Trickery! Jameis fakes handoff to a running back and gives to Adam Humphries (Rudy!) on end around, running left.

* Javien Elliott with a pick on Ryan Fitzpatrick.

* Cam Brate in 7-on-7 red zone drills is wide open on goal line near left pylon. Touchdown. Brate really flashing today.
This time it is DJax on goal line near left pylon.

* O.J. Howard reaches out for a pass down the middle from Jameis.

* Jameis too high for Rudy along left sideline.

* Brate with two nice catches in a row. First steals a pass from Keith Tandy then sells out for Jameis on right side to haul in a throw.

* Jameis follows that up with a short pass to DJax. Chemistry is there.

* Bomb shelter! Jameis launches a pass down the right sideline about 40 yards that falls right into DJax’s arms. He runs it in for a touchdown. Then, Jackson alley-oops the ball to Evans who slams the football on the crossbar. Showtime all around! Crowd goes bananas.

* Jameis throws to a spot that DJax can’t get to, short to the left sideline. Looked like Robert McClain squeezed the route.

* Jameis throws downfield about 20 yards to a streaking Mike Evans on a crossing pattern and hits him right in the hands just over a corner. Pretty, pretty play.

* Cam Brate with a nice juggling catch in one-on-one drills.

* Charles Sims runs around left end for a big gain. And there is a solar eclipse.

* Montell Jordan wakes up fans at Bucs practice on what is a sleepy Sunday morning for those in attendance.

Get used to this. These two will be putting on a show on a weekly basis. If they both make it 16 games, Jameis will break 5,000 yards and 35 touchdowns.

I’m really rooting for Robert McClain! First because I think he could actually provide some decent depth and secondly after that HK profile ya gotta root for a guy who has worked so hard to extend an NFL career to seven years!

And in a show that has been full of incredibly cute kids…McClain’s was adorable.

Sounds like the offense was firing on all cylinders! I just want them to improve in the red zone this year. I think we can move the ball between the 20s just fine.

What is the consensus after two preseason games where the 1st team offense moves at will, but chokes in the Red Zone.

    1) Crap, we still have a problem in the Red Zone
    2) Dirk is shielding the good Red Zone plays in the Pre Season

Jameis had a fine day. Brate was catching everything it seemed. Mike Evans was on point and, oh yeah, DJax fried the defense on a bomb.

  6. Dave Says:

TheShaz…..in my opinion Dirk is holding back on red zone plays. No point in showcasing game plans. I have no worries with our red zone offense. Evans, Jackson, Brate, and Howard. Should be unstoppable.

    @TheShaz

I think it’s a mix of both, but more of #2 (I’m hoping). With all the new weapons, I’m sure ekoetter doesn’t want to take too many tricks out of the bag before he has too. And I don’t expect Winston to miss Evans the way he did in game 1.

  8. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

And I don’t expect him connect from the one everytime. You folks are funny man. Its football not every pass will be perfectly placed and not every perfectly thrown pass will be caught. From what I can tell their are people that get paid on the opposing teams. You strive for perfection with the understanding that you’ll never probably accomplish it. Especially in the game of football. Show the QB the QB that is 100% on red zone pass attempts bro. I’ll wait.

This one b@$! and gripe @$$ fanbase yo. Arrow didn’t start pointing upward til he arrived but f@$!ers nit pick s@$! like we’ve been championship contenders for years. Like we had a elite QB here that old and needed to be replaced prior to Fameis arriving. Psss, yea right.

    What u talking bout nosbos?

  13. JJ Says:

Anyone else concerned about Fitzpatrick, hopefully we won’t need him but maybe we should have him checked for color blindness, right Testeverde?
