“Lovely” Ali Marpet

August 18th, 2017

“I love you, man.”

A few days ago, there was “Gumby,” and now there could be “Lovely.”

The latter term of affection was slapped upon center Ali Marpet by none other than America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.

Jameis noted after last night’s preseason matchup in Jacksonville that he “cherished” his first game with Marpet at center. Last week in Cincinnati, the Bucs held out Marpet as he had a gimpy ankle.

Then, Jameis got even more syrupy, talking about taking snaps from Marpet.

“It was lovely,” Jameis said. “That was our first game together and I cherished it. He cherished it. It was fun. That is all he could say. Ali is a man with few words but he said I had fun. Looks like it’s going to be a great year. I am excited man. I am excited to be working with Ali this year. I am happy, blessed that I have other centers who have been there and done that. I think that pushes Ali to know that he has two great guys that have been there and made similar calls. It makes him more comfortable with guys like that.”

Some heartfelt love going on there.

Maybe because Marpet was starting at center for the first time, the offensive line was damned stout. It gave Jameis plenty of time to throw and mostly did a fine job.

Yeah, except for that.

The First team offense and defense played very well. I blame Evans for dropping the pass for a touchdown at the one yard line more than Jamies crazy decision to throw while falling. Had Evan just caught the ball earlier, then this most likely wouldn’t happened. This may be the year we make the playoff. They just need to reduce the mistakes and stop leaving points off the board. It was suppose to be 17-8. But it’s still preseason, which leaves time to improve.

I know that both teams were not throwing the whole playbooks in, But one on one and helping the guards, There were many plays that center and guards did not even take a step back on pass pro!!!!!! Stinks about DD69 pulling a “groin”!!!! At least he has weeks before the season starts!!!! May he heal quickly!!!!!

Snaps looked very smooth, and that was a great thing!!!! Blocking solid!!!! we did not see them against any thing exotic or stunts and twists and overloads, But it was a great start!!!!!

    Moving AM74 to center,,,,,Great Move!!!!!!!!!!!

    GO Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The blocking was fantastic last night, against a damn good front.
Running and passing and play actions all helped that

Did you see the hole that Marpet and Sweez opened for DM….That was a ten yard run that DM gets no credit for….I could have run through that hole.

Again OL’s need time to get true chemistry and teammwork…this OL is well on it’s way!

Did anybody pay specific attention to RT. I saw Benenoch in there..but never really focused on him individually.

Love Marpet. However, inside the 20 we need to rotate him out and put Garrison Sanborn in at center. This way we can get Winston back another 15 or so yards so he can drop some passes in the endzone. Love these Bucs!!!!

I’ve been hoping for a younger player to claim that starting RT spot this year so I’m actually glad to see Benenoch get the opportunity. Not glad that Dotson got hurt obviously cause he’s a good dude but we absolutely need an upgrade at RT.

I have a good feeling that Mike’s eyes are still boiling after that right threw the hands drop.

Jameis talking sweet about Marpet is cool. Sweezey and Jameis Sharing Love on “hard Knochs was cool too.
Thats a real good inficator on how Jameis is feeling about the O-line!

Smith was dominate again last night- and Benenoch had a couple lil issues, but looked fantastic the majority of the Time.
I watched him very closely- Ive posted numerous times, that I Expect Caleb to win the Right Tackle spot. If he gets any extented playing time- I dont think anyone will be able to get him out of that spot!

And that would give us a very young, Talented line that could stay together for the next decade- barring major injury. And playing together is the Key for O-lines.

I personally have accepted that Jameis is going to make an ill advised throw on occasion. He is so much like Bret Farve, both in ability and Personslity!
Farve was always so passionate about the game. Same kind of Contaigious happy personality.
    Loved watching Farve play.
Gonna enjoy watching Jameis even more!
