Hey Jude Repeats Ugly Knee Injury

August 10th, 2017

Ugly injury news.

Not good news for Bucs corner Hey Jude.

Last year’s nickel corner, and this summer in a battle with two other corners for the same gig, Hey Jude Adjei Barimah blew out his knee this week in a non-contact injury, per Jenna Laine of ESPN.com.

Doctors recommended, per Laine, that Hey Jude undergo knee surgery after an MRI showed the same injury that ended his season in 2016, a patellar fracture.

Hey Jude is seeking a second opinion. A trusted NFL source of Joe’s stated more will be learned next week and neither Hey Jude nor the Bucs are willing to throw the towel in on his season just yet.

It’s a good thing the Bucs are deep at corner. Now it appears the nickel corner will be up for grabs between Javien Elliott and Robert McClain.

Ryan Smith, moved from safety to corner late last year and who garnered rave reviews from Bucs staffers, is scheduled to start opposite Vernon Hargreaves tomorrow night in Cincinnati as Brent Grimes recuperates from a gash to his shin that required stitches.

MRI don’t lie. It’s a shame. Second opionion is good anyway. Robert McClain is actually pretty decent, not to mention he has a LOT of experience against Ryan, Newton and Brees.

  2. LifeOfABucFan Says:

I threw the towel after the Raiders game…next!!

  3. Destinjohnny Says:

Worried about our corners a little

  4. Bird Says:

Don’t think they are deep at all. John Robert McClain and Elliott are nickel. Outside? Ryan smith-have not heard one play he has made. Robinson is more special teams

  5. DirtyIrishman81 Says:

Agreed. Cheers to the health and luck of VH3 and Grimes.

  6. Pickgrin Says:

Need to see good things from Ryan Smith to have any level of comfort about our “depth” at CB. Hope he gets extensive playing time Friday.

  7. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

The giraffe with a pick 6

  8. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

For everyone so worked up about our cb depth, name Seattles #2 and 3 cbs. Name Denvers #3 or 4 cb. Name KC #2 cb. Name New Englands #3 cb?????? Ok then……..

  9. orlbucfan Says:

Uh oh. Welp, next players up!

  10. LifeOfABucFan Says:

Agree with MEGoat..I can’t name them for squat..oh and MEGoat, I kinda met you on YouTube! lol!

  11. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

Yeah, I remember lol. That was a while back.

  12. JimmyJack Says:

Didn’t Malcolm Butler start the 2015 season as a bench player……..then he gets his shot and ends the season by making the winning play in the Super Bowl.

Don’t tell me depth doesn’t matter. Whether or not I can name bench players for teams that I don’t follow.

  13. JameisDungy Says:

Got a bad feeling about the Bucs passing on Kamara for Evans…

    Kid is explosive.

  14. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

I’m saying that you aren’t in any way a scout, u have no idea how good our “depth” is or isn’t. Dirk said it himself, on an NFL roster (53 guys) teams have No Idea what the bottom 30 guys are gonna do on game days.
And last I checked the #3 cb is regarded as a starter in NFL circles, seeing as teams are in “nickel” 70-75% of the time.

  15. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

And u made my point for me. Malcom Butler was a backup, that means he obviously didn’t show enough promise in camp to earn a starting job. Then he made the play of the super bowl.
We are lucky that some of our “depth” actually has experience.

  16. Pa Privateer Says:

Prayers and wishing a quick recovery JUDE!!! Thank you for your hard work and dedication.

Looking to this season, it is exciting to know we get to see the other CBs in preseason

  17. OneBucPerson Says:

That really sucks, but that’s football. When someone goes down it gives someone else a chance to step up. Since we’ll probably need to bring in atleast 1 FA CB to compete for a back up spot I’d like to throw out Tramaine Brock, Perrish Cox, Leodis McKelvin, and Tracy Porter as potential pick ups.

  18. LifeOfABucFan Says:

I’ll take McClain any day anyhow…You all forget he can play..and he’s having a wonderful camp..

  19. Blackmagic00 Says:

How is no one talking about our ex career backup? I was very curious, now I’m hoping the rook makes the starts kinda. No matter what, wins a ton will tear them a new arse, but I found it interesting on a august preseason no Bucs night anyway. Bears are probably going to be fighting with jets and browns for the number one pick. Oh how I can’t wait for our team to take the field.

  20. Blackmagic00 Says:

And my two cents? Eh.. Jude cost us the playoffs in my opinion. I’ll take him or leave him. I’m way more interested in others on our roster. I’m rooting for ryan.

  21. Issic Haggins Says:

The Bucs are not deep at corner and have big big right tackle questions

How can you be deep at corner with only two experienced outside corners on the roster and they are both 5 foot 9 and one is 34 ???

Seriously this is a pipe dream !!! Team looks better but this is going to be a big problem !!!

  22. SB Says:

Glennon throws pick-6 on 2nd pass
    lol

  23. Blackmagic00 Says:

    Ryan for the future!

  24. Issic Haggins Says:

Hell , the safeties are far far deeper than corner !!!! The idea here is to win a Super Bowl not to have a winning record . Snap out of it Licht !!!!

  25. Blackmagic00 Says:

@issac, time. Time will complete the roster. We’re so far ahead of 2015 it takes binoculars to see the past. In licht I trust!

  26. SB Says:

Awesome that we are Over 35 players in the JoeBucsFan.com Pickem league so far this yr. Lets beat the 60+ that we were last yr where St. Augustine Buc won it all.
    http://games.espn.com/nfl-pigskin-pickem/2017/en/group?groupID=99276
Sign up and beat me if you can because I have to buy the jersey for the winner so I don’t want to lose.

  27. Capt.Tim Says:

I hope Jude recovers soon. Kid is a great story, and has played so great football for us.
Hope he is back on the field soon. No matter what anyone thinks, he is our most experienced slot corner, and will be missed.

    God Speed Jude.

  28. teacherman777 Says:

    Poor dude.

I call him “Jude the Dude.”

God bless you in this difficult time.

    One Love.

  29. teacherman777 Says:

    Now,

What did I say about McCourty?

    We should have signed him.

    Huge mistake.

  30. Wausa Says:

I am surprised Joe thinks we are deep at corner.
The Bucs starters look good with Elliott, Grimes and Hargreaves. Backing them up we only have one guy I feel ok about and that’s McClain. Let’s hope what the Bucs staff says about Smith is true.

My guess is the Bucs would’ve wanted to keep 6 corners on the roster and its hard to say who the 6th guy is going to be….Fleming or Moxey?
Either way I hope neither of these guys are ever needed to be active on game day.

I am sure the Bucs scouts are taking a detailed look at the top corner prospects for next year:

    Tarvarus McFadden Florida State
    Jaire Alexander Louisville
    Inman Marshall USC
    Adonis Alexander Virginia Tech

  31. James Walker Says:

if you have a pass rush am average corner is great. The D-line needs to step up.

  32. firethecannons Says:

yeah–with “Life” on this–dude lost the Raiders game for us

Hope we can reign in the penalties from the O-line this year especially the tackles

  33. Elivs in STL Says:

Hey Licht… I’ll bet you a dollar Revis would pick up the phone if you give him a call. Lets fill that roster spot with some quality depth please!

  34. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

There is a difference between depth and quality depth.

We have depth, not quality depth.
