Fight!

August 7th, 2017

Throws down.

Winning Bucs coach Dirk Koetter isn’t going to like this.

Nothing gets Koetter hacked off more than reporters asking him about fights in training camp. Sets him off like a bottle rocket. So the fact Joe is sharing WFLA-TV Channel 8 video shot by photo journalist Bob Hansen of Noah Spence getting into fisticuffs this morning won’t go over well with Koetter.

Koetter won’t be mad at Spence; he will be irate at Joe.

Hey, like Joe always says, if you are walking down the sidewalk and see two dudes throwing down, what are you going to do? Stop and watch, right?

As Joe stated for tomorrow’s famed “Ira Kaufman Podcast,” Spence has had a very quiet camp thus far. That’s getting Joe’s attention and not in a good way. But Spence got noticed today when he apparently didn’t like the way he was being mouthed to by camp meat offensive lineman Cole Gardner.

As you can see in the WFLA-TV video below, Gardner and Spence were having words when Spence clocked him.

It’s about fckn time. The love fest was getting concerning. #Spawn

  2. MadMax Says:

    hard knocks drama filler…..

  3. Mojiska Says:

I thought multiple people had been saying he is looking great and is poised to breakout? Even from head coach himself??? I know ayers and mccoy sung some high praises of him a few weeks ago…

  4. LifeOfABucFan Says:

Cole Gardner won’t make the team now..that was dumb for a rookie trying to earn a spot to get in a fight with Spawn..like Julia Roberts told the sales clerk in Pretty Women..”Big mistake, huge mistake”.

  5. BucaneroDorado Says:

    haymakers!!! hell yeah

  6. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

Punching at helmets. MENSA members, these guys are not….

  7. Lord Corn Says:

I can recall at least 2 times JBF has mentioned Spence getting would be sacks. Does that mean JBF has seen a guy like Ayers getting like 10 sacks through a week of TC comparatively or something?

  8. Tom Edrington Says:

Yes, you wonder about guys who punch guys who have a helmet on…..what was his Wonderlic score?

  9. SOEbuc Says:

Damnnn!! I would not wanna be clocked by the new looking Noah (or the older looking one for that matter). Those hard swings at face masks always scare me also. You could break something in OTAs hitting a teammate. Pretty stupid. And I do think they are both gonna get a real loud talkin to from Dirk and Smitty.

  10. SOEbuc Says:

Gardner must of made a yo mama joke

  11. K2 Says:

Gardner will not get cut for being badass. If he gets cut …it will because he’s not good enough.

  12. libucfan Says:

Love the passion, but extremely stupid move. Good way to break a hand.

  13. DB55 Says:

Welp unlike some defensive linemen Spawn does take a month off bc of a broke hand. He’ll he broke his shoulder last yr much more painful and he still played.

    #NoIceCream #Spawn

  14. shouldhavedraftedeifert Says:

    Nice right cross Spence!

  15. Ben the Ga Buc Says:

LOL Gardner doesn’t get cut for this. He didn’t even do anything, just a “get the hell outta my face” push. This is nothing.

  16. DaytonaBuc Says:

Joe, your video plug-ins and my iPhone have a similar fight every time I try to watch the great content. Any advise from you or others to get this to load and play properly?

  17. BigMacAttack Says:

@Noah, Head slap in ear hole works better..

  18. Thespiritof1976 Says:

Everyone is quick tempered in August.

Hell, I just got into it with a biker. Douche was going too fast and i didn’t see him when I changed lanes. He flipped me off and I tailed him and confronted him at a light.

I said, “Hey tough guy, ya got something to say to me ?”
He cussed at me and said I didn’t put my turn signal on (I did). Told him he was a jackass for weaving through traffic while doing 60 in a 40 and that I didn’t nearly kill him that he nearly did it too himself.

Then asked if he wanted to discuss further in the parking lot nearby. He drove off. I then thought to myself, “What the hell did I do that for ? That was WAY out of my character.”

    Yep. August. Makes people feral.

  19. Buc4Lyfe79 Says:

What kind of dumbass throws his closed fist against a helmet grille? Try worrying about beating ur opponent with technique in-between whistles #57, not acting like a Pacman Jones wannabe.

  20. Supersam Says:

How long before the league throws spence a “random” drug test, punching a guy 4 inches taller than you in the helmet? He’s gotta be on molly.

  21. Fsuking Says:

Helment punches are for dumb players

  22. thespiritof76 Says:

That’s nothing compared to the infamous Hardy Nickerson-Tyji Armstrong camp fight back, I want to say, 1994, where Hardy ripped off Armstrongs facemask.

His facemask. Ripped it right off his helmet.

  23. Easy Denman Says:

Nice Takedown defense by Gardner.. UFC HW champ in 6 months

  24. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

“Pablo could whip both of their a$$es……don’t mess with Pablo…..you would rather sandpaper a lion’s a$$ in a Mini Cooper than to f–k wit’ Pablo”

  25. SB Says:

Lol TBBF and Love and Warrick. Two of my favorite posters bringing it as always

  26. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    MadMax Says
    “Hard knocks drama filler…”

Exactly. I love how everyone piled on top. If that wasn’t for the cameras, I don’t know what is.

  27. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Lord Corn Says:
“I can recall at least 2 times JBF has mentioned Spence getting would be sacks.”

He has a short memory. Or split personalities… 😉

  28. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

My opinion (not that it matters) is that this was absolutely nothing. The helmet absorbed the punch, as Spence knew it would. Seems to me Spence got the same treatment in last year’s camp. He’s probably been waiting to pass it along!

  29. Bucsfan29 Says:

Joe you should know you can NOT emulate a real pass rush in practice. That was an unfair call out of spence.

  30. feelthepewterpower Says:

Rip the guy’s helmet off? Ok, fine. Punch his helmet with the possibility of breaking a hand? Dumb.

I love the passion, aggression…but let’s take it out on the other team when the time comes and in a smart manner (no dumb retaliation penalties please!)

  31. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

LOL @ LifeofaBucFan! If Cole Gardner plays well he will make the team. Jesus what do you think this is ballet class? SMH! Really dude, a little shove is going to get him cut? That is pretty out there that someone even think this, let alone type it.

  32. Capt. Blighe Says:

That is disturbing to me, Spence went right to punches awful damn fast.
Probably needs a fine, That wasn’t a normal training camp fight.

  33. Joe Says:

That was an unfair call out of spence.

Joe isn’t calling anyone out. Spence has had a quiet camp. No need to sift between words for something that isn’t there. What’s Joe supposed to say, lie and write he’s destroying everyone on each and every snap?

Joe is being very objective after watching nine practices. There’s no ill will here in any way.

  34. PanthersSuck! Says:

LifeOfABucFan Just quoted Julia Roberts in pretty woman?

  35. BigHogHaynes Says:

Coke had that chicken wing …I mean maybe that was that bad shoulder,…anyway he had him blocked like an eclipse…Spence mad cause he was dismissed with a “your a little girl shove” Gardner will make this team!!! Time to upgrade the tackles on this team! !!!

  36. stpetebucsfan Says:

    Spirit

Man I get being hacked off by some of the bad riding and driving but be careful dude. It’s Florida!!! It’s no longer about proving one’s “manhood.’ Wimps like Zim started a fight and when he was losing simpy pulled his piece and murdered.

My son was playing golf with me two years ago. It was a horrible day because it was the height of the season and the course was totally backed up. So we have some idiots behind us mouthing off even though they could see EVERYBODY was waiting every shot.

So finally my son has enough and starts to walk off the tee back towards the mouthy dude. I had to tackle my son and say…man it’s Florida…you walk towards a guy with a golf club in your hand and he simply pulls a piece and kills you. He would be “standing his ground”.

I guarantee you Spirit if the dude on the bike pulled a gun and wastes you he’ll simply be standing his ground.

  37. Bucnjim Says:

A lot of times players want to fight out of frustration of being beat by someone they think is a lesser opponent.

  38. Mike30#1bucfan Says:

Save it for the field fellas!!!!!!!

  39. Fire the glazers Says:

Personally, I don’t like seeing that $#it. Already don’t like Spence for that crap. It’s all cool to have fire, but that’s just toxic.

  40. Capt. Blighe Says:

I think that was a sign that he lost all that weight and he’s getting handled.

  41. TrollSlayer Says:

the disturbing thing in this article is not the fight a little scuffle here and there is ok it happens in the heat of game or practice battles but the fact that joe says spence has had a “quiet” camp so far— this is one of the guys that needs to beast out and not be quiet he needs to be the disruptive force we all hope he can be

  42. Joe Says:

Joe says spence has had a “quiet” camp so far— this is one of the guys that needs to beast out and not be quiet he needs to be the disruptive force we all hope he can be

Part of it may be Koetter has ordered the defense not to go full-out (yet). Koetter doesn’t want to see anyone hurt.

For example, it was with camp meat and Joe wasn’t taking notes, but a receiver caught a pass on a crossing pattern and a linebacker *literally* jumped out of his way to avoid a collision rather than tackle him. If it were a game, the receiver would have been totally splashed.

Joe likes Spence a lot and isn’t overly concerned but it has registered in Joe’s head Spence has been rather nondescript thus far in training camp.

  43. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    Noah “Manos de Piedra” Spence

  44. BucEmUo Says:

This guy should be playing olb no reason to not move him around and let him thrive he’s too much of a talent.

Fights happen who cares as long as it doesn’t happen on the field

  45. DoNUTS Says:

Punching a helmet is a good way to break your hand in camp. t.

IMHO, Spence has proved little to date. I am not impressed with his play; SEA game was pretty good in flashes. This will be his make or break it year as far as is he a starter or is he a backup in the NFL. He has the speed but I am not sure he will ever have leverage (small)- not nasty. I just dont see the tiger mentality the position requires. He needs to go watch some film of LT coming off the edge to work on his DE attitude.
