“I Want To Be The Greatest Of All Time”

July 4th, 2017

Jameis was talking big tonight.

Before he became a Buccaneer, Joe pegged America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, as a Muhammad Ali clone when it came to his spirit, magnetism, bravado, loquaciousness and drive.

And then came the Ali picture and quote in Jameis’ Tampa Bay locker last season. (That story is here.) About five inches wide on thin white paper, with transparent tape keeping it prominent, were the Ali words, “What You Are Thinking About, You Are Becoming.

And now comes the next chapter in Jameis channeling the man who called himself the greatest of all time every chance he could. Last night on NFL Network, Jameis was asked about the next step in his development.

“Ultimately, I want to be the greatest of all-time one day,” Jameis said after claiming he strives for yearly improvement. “You know, that has to be your goal. You know, people always say, ‘Well, that’ll never happen.’  But I don’t know it’ll never happen until I’m done. So I’m going to do anything that I can to be great.”

Savage attitude Jameis possesses. It seems to know no limits. Somehow, it has to rub off on more of his teammates. The greats raise the games of those around them. Joe has not doubt Jameis has done that a little already. But is there more to come?

This season should be a good measure of what his career will look like if we don’t have all of the injuries we had last year on offense.

See this picture of you jameis ? Now just imagine that football being the Lombardi trophy as you have many times before ! Go get it ! Go effing get it ! Bring your big motha f@$*ING stick !

  3. NFLNut Says:

This statement of his reminds me of that eBay “Lucky 13” Jameis 1/1 listing as there’s a signed photo in it where Jameis signed, “Future GOAT, God willing” … this kid has some serious confidence and why wouldn’t he, he’s already the greatest and most accomplished 22 year old QB (he was still 22 when last season ended) in the history of football!

By the way, speaking of sportscards … I heard from a card shop dealer that Derek Carr’s best rookie card legitimately sold recently for $75,000! I almost passed out … who would have ever thought pieces of cardboard could be worth so much, sheesh!

Love Jameis and glad Bucs drafted him over Marcus. But he does need to cut down on his INT’s. With a replenished WR corps, we’ll see how much progress he makes. If he throws a ton of INT’s with this group, it’s on him.

  5. MadMax Says:

    JW3….GOAT!!!!!

  6. Joe Rassam Says:

Statements like that are usually a good one in any profession or arena.

    “You will be”..

    I second USFBUCs comment.

The second half of last year they got a little taste of what it’s like to play meaningful games in the second half of the year. That hasn’t happened for awhile for the Bucs and I think the Vets…McCoy…LVD loved it and the large number of young players got to learn from it.

This year they BELIEVE they are playing meaningful games and they know whats on the line. Last year’s season will make them better this year…as well as a nice influx of additional talent.

  10. Xandtar Says:

This year every game is meaningful. Week 1, Week 17, it’s all the same. If playoff position is the end game for the regular season, it starts right out of the box. So Winston needs to start being if not greatest of all time, that honor grudgingly goes to Tom Brady who channeled Joe Montana at the last Super Bowl, but at least greatest of the season.

If he does and the Bucs stay healthy they’ve got as good a shot as anybody for the NFC spot in the Super Bowl.

@nflnut hear about Dak Prescott using an auto pen to sign his football card autos? People have spent hundreds on his cards and he wasn’t classy enough to sign them himself? Can’t imagine jameis ever being that classless. http://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?p=12470793

  12. BadHombre Says:

    +1 for using “loquaciousness” Joe

  13. Mike Johnson Says:

If you truly want to be up there with the best of all time Jameis? You got a lot of work to do. Start by coming out very strong and building. Not the opposite like last year. We are watching…………………

Guys that are the best dont go around talking about how they are the best. Brady, Manning, Montan, etc may have an ego but come out like this.

Ali was good but was he really that good considering his head injuries after fighting. May be best at standing up to take a beating.

  15. NFLNut Says:

LOLBuc … THANKS for the heads-up as I hadn’t heard about Dak using autopens … that’s really shameful and illegal as it turns the company into an accessory in passing off fraudulent autographs to collectors … the FBI had an “operation bullpen” that sent people to jail for that sort of thing!

I heard about the fiasco with Eli Manning and I get established stars get sick of signing autos but Dak was a rookie and not even a first round pick … shameful!
