No Spinning Rising Bucs Popularity

July 25th, 2017

Media legend makes a bold Bucs statement

Even with America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, Joe never envisioned the popularity of the Bucs would skyrocket like it has.

All this team needed was a good quarterback and the team’s popularity would rise. Sure. Instead, the Bucs got a flamboyant personality for a quarterback who was well known, having already won a Heisman Trophy and a national championship in college.

Last year, the Bucs played America’s Team, the Cowboys, on Sunday Night Football. Joe never saw that coming. Nor did Joe see “Hard Knocks” coming. Thank Jameis.

And the popularity is still growing. Just last year, superstar musician Jay Z paid his respects to Jameis when he stopped by One Buc Palace to press flesh with The Franchise prior to his wife, Beyonce, appearing at the Den of Depression for a concert.

And of course, Chuck Todd, moderator of “Meet the Press,” has knighted the Bucs as the future NFL juggernaut.

Then last night, popular news commentator Bill O’Reilly, he of the “No Spin Zone” fame, Twittered out a promo for his weekday podcast, sort of a highlight to his show later that day. In the Twitter video, O’Reilly is seen in a Buccaneers red polo shirt.

Yes, more and more folks are jumping on the Bucs bandwagon. And it wouldn’t have happened if AC/DC-loving Bucs general manager Jason Licht didn’t have both the common sense and the stones to draft Jameis.

What a time to be alive!

    LoL

@ Joe … “Yes, more and more folks are jumping on the Bucs bandwagon.” No question many see our Bucs’ potential and want a piece of the action. Also no question that they’ll be the first ones OFF the Bucs bandwagon if we don’t win, and win big. As in not just making the playoffs, but winning in the playoffs.

  4. grafikdetail Says:

exactly! Bill take off that Bucs shirt & go root for the Patriots… you low life

  5. Pickgrin Says:

Expectations for the 2017 Buccaneers is rising quickly.

This speaks to the talent level of the team that has been assembled.

Its the perfect mix of talented youth and talented experience.

DJax and Evans. LD54 and Kwon. Grimes and Hargreaves. Ayers and Spence. Tandy and J. Evans. Martin and McNichols

Jason Licht has this ‘Bridge” concept down to a science….

  6. Mort Says:

Would rather not have him too closely associated with “Stick carriers” IMO.

  7. AC Says:

Nah rather not have an open racist associated with the stick carriers

  8. Socrates Says:

Yeah I’d be happier if he wore anything but Bucs gear. We don’t need that negativity in our organization

  9. Buc50 Says:

Super funny comments and right on the money. Don’t need Bill or R. Kelly on this bandwagon. Would love to see Bae at the RayJay for a game though.

As I’ve shared in the past I now spend 3 months a year on Michigan’s UP in a tiny cottage on Lake Superior with a majestic cove. If you go to Wiki you see this..

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Upper_Peninsula_of_Michigan

4th pic down labeled simply “Lake Superior” is our cove. I mention all of this to set up the fact that our little cove and rock beach gets visitors by the dozens every day from around the nation…mostly upper midwest.

This piece is spot on. I always visit with these folks and I get a great feel for a lot of things from politics to pop culture to sports fans. I talk to them about the Lightning if they are Red Wing fans…I prod them a bit by saying we got their Stevie Yzerman neener neener. LOL They love him so much they take it very good naturedly.

Football…mostly “Cheeseheads” of course…who remember the Bucs from our Central Division days…some Lions fans…they’re usually too shamed to come out without prodding…Minny fans..

They all are now talking up the Bucs. As much as I love #3 however he’s not the first thing out of their mouths. Cheeseheads are pretty solid NFL fans…well educated and they realize our ENTIRE team has improved and they like DK and his staff…they realize #3 filled out most pressing need and they are obviously watching his growth…but they do not YET know him like we do…to them he’s just another talented young QB…Carr…Mariota…

As much as it’s blown up I gotta believe Hard Knocks is going to make #3 the national star that he is here locally.

NFL types obviously already know and celebrate #3…Hard Knocks will add the more casual fan.

I can only imagine how hard that was for you. haha

I’m glad we are finally doing better than Nick Carter as our big celebrity fan!

greatest show on turf 2.0, showtime on the gridiron, bad boys between the hash marks, tampa slama jama, what ever moniker you want to hang on em, i have not been this excited about our beloved buccaneers since i was a young boy the first time they went 5-0 and if ya’ll can’t remember way back then picture this j Mckay was our coach, 1979. well that was untill our glory years under dungy and of course the superbowl win with gruden, but thru thick and thin, this team has never in it’s history had this much talent on the offensive side of the line, man this is indeed a special era to be a buc fan.

  17. stpetebucsfan Says:

    @Joe

Thanks. I was afraid the setup was too personal but it is a genuine eye into how football fans in the Upper Midwest view the Bucs and #3.

  18. NFLNut Says:

Jameis is a literal “Godsend” to this franchise.

However Joe, I don’t consider his personality “flamboyant” … he is fiery, determined, charismatic, affable, etc., but not “flamboyant” … Cam Newton is famboyant and comes off like a clown … Jameis comes off like a true “leader of men”.

  19. Buccfan37 Says:

I don’t care about bandwagon fans trying to jump on the Bucs boat thinking that they might be a winner. And O’Reilly is all spin zone.

  20. Buc4Lyfe79 Says:

Just like their libtarded radical leaders, when the slack jawed bs spewing leftists that comment around these parts see someone from the opposite side of the isle they don’t like, they resort to making things up or just recycling old rumors & lies.
Saul Alinsky 101. Cry about it u little babies.

  21. stpetebucsfan Says:

    Buc4Lyfe79

“libtarded radical leaders” “bs spewing leftists that comment around these parts”

    “Saul Alinsky 101”

Well argued Buc4lyfe…I’m really impressed with your intellectual heft and great debate skills. Bwaahaaaa…A couple of terms defined not by me but by the dictionary or Wiki…

Ad Hominem – (of an argument or reaction) directed against a person rather than the position they are maintaining.

This is an instant disqualifier for any educated or thoughful person. It ranks up there with neener neener and I know you are but what am I in terms of debating.

Psychological projection is a defense mechanism people subconsciously employ in order to cope with difficult feelings or emotions. Psychological projection involves projecting undesirable feelings or emotions onto someone else, rather than admitting to or dealing with the unwanted feelings.

If John Kasich or Jeb Bush won there would be issues that I disagreed with but both of these men are honorable and not just haters! I get conservatives believe in small government….low taxes on the wealthy…and they believe this makes the best government. We can debate whether somebody believes in SS or hates it…whether we like or dislike Medicare…etc.

But sadly it’s devolved into simple namecalling by loud simpletons who don’t even think about that they’re saying.

So I see a real right winger on the tube yesterday excoriated all the “snowflakes” who are out for social justice! Really? Social justice is now bad.
So does that mean one side literally supports social injustice?

  22. NFLNut Says:

^ The “new” form of “social justice” has nothing to do with actual social justice, it’s all about racism, sexism, rage, trolling, violence and all manner of nonsensical absurdity.

Goof-balls like Linda Sarsour and others of her ilk are not MLK Jr.

  23. Defense Rules Says:

StPete, your ‘cove’ looks very serene in that pic, altho I suspect that’s not always the case with Lake Superior wx. The pic 5 forward in the slide show from that (Straits of Mackinac and bridge in winter looking south from St. Ignace) is more like how I envision that area throughout much of the year.

P.S. Am a bit surprised that you bit on Buc4Lyfe79’s comments about ‘libtarded radical leaders’ though in your 1:39 PM response … without mentioning that it wasn’t Saul Alinsky 101; it was Saul Alinsky 1971. That’s the year he wrote his book ‘Rules for Radicals’.

  24. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

Check the archives man. When we drafted Fameis I said we are about to be the “bully team” of the entire NFL. These folks are just exercising good old fashion common sense.

  25. BucsCanada Says:

GO BUCS JEEEEEZ CANT WAY ANYMORE

  26. stpetebucsfan Says:

    D.R.

You are correct. I should never have bitten on nothing but ad hom…nothing really to debate there.

You are correct the cove is very serence. We put up a portable split rail fence to keep people from driving on it and getting stuck. Happened once or twice a day before the fence.

Our sign says…”Welcome…it’s private but you are free to take all the pics and hike on it all you want.

I get to visit with folks from all around and I consider that a benefit. Some have literally left notes of thanks for sharing the cove…some have even taken pictures of my sign…one dude from Cleveland said “it restored his faith in humanity”. LOL

BTW D.R. Pickgrin..all of you…even those who view me as “snowflake” 🙂 are welcome to visit up here. I can share the best campgrounds and you can support Joe’s advertiser and rent an RV and visit paradise.

As for winter…yeaow….we left last year the first week of October. A big blow was coming in off Superior…giant waves…horizontal rain…hard to get the car loaded. We realized Mother Nature was telling us…time to get back to Florida.

I love it up here…my SECOND home…but my heart is always in the Sunshine State.

  27. BoJim Says:

O’Reilly? Puke. And again I say puke. Why did he have to jump on the band wagon. Someone please kick his azz off.
