“Juggernaut In The Making”

July 3rd, 2017

Fan of America.

The moderator of “Meet the Press” has spoken.

Sleepy-eyed Chuck Todd (yes, that’s what President Tweet once called Todd. Yes, on Twitter, of course) is one of the guest columnists at theMMQB.com subbing for  vacationing California train-romancing, anti-football proliferation, outhouse-admiring, airline-napping, steerage-flying, Yogi Berra-worshipingurinal picture-takingvideo game-playingTaylor Swift-listening, pickpocket-thwartingBucs-uniform-frowningAllie-LaForce-smittenBig-Ten-Network-hatingpedestrian-bumpingolive oil-lappingpopcorn-munchingcoffee-slurpingfried-chicken-eatingoatmeal-lovingcircle-jerking, craft beer-chugging, cricket-watchingscone-loathingcollege football-naïvebaseball-box-score-readingNPR-honkfilthy-hotel-staying, fight-instigatingbarista-training Peter King, of Sports Illustrated and NBC Sports fame.

Todd, an avowed Packers fan despite growing up in Miami, believes the Bucs are on the cusp of a long, long run of winning and fears his Packers might have to face America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, in the playoffs.

I begin every season assuming the Packers will be in the hunt for the NFC Championship. When you have Aaron Rodgers, you can feel that cocky. But the one NFC team that scares me the most in 2017: Tampa Bay. The Bucs look like a juggernaut in the making. For as great as he’s been in college, and even in his first few years as a pro, Jameis Winston gets overlooked when it comes to “the league’s best young QBs” conversation. Part of that may be the off-field issues from his college days, so there are some people who won’t root for him. Part of it may be that he doesn’t play for one of the NFL’s elite franchises, such as the Cowboys. But I’ve watched Winston a lot (my wife went to FSU, so I have to pretend the Seminoles are my second favorite college football team . . . oops, honey, you weren’t supposed to read that!) and he just doesn’t get rattled.

When Tampa inevitably gets deep in the playoffs, I’m convinced Winston has that “it” factor a QB needs to meet the moment. And now, he’s surrounded with great playmakers. Mike Evans is a human highlight machine and DeSean Jackson is going to love getting one-on-one coverage by playing the opposite side of the field from Evans. Bottom line: Tampa Bay is going to be a lot of fun to watch this season. As a Packers fan, I sure hope the Cowboys or Panthers get stuck playing the Bucs in the playoffs before the Packers have to face them.

That’s some cool stuff right there. And yes, that comes from the national media for those paying attention. Not just national NFL media, but news media. You know, “Meet the Press?” Washington, D.C.? The Beltway?

When is the last time you heard the moderator of “Meet the Press” talk about the Bucs? Remember, Tim Russert (damn, Joe misses that guy) was an unabashed Bills honk.

So for Bucs fans who kvetched for years the Bucs never got any run nationally, well, it doesn’t get any bigger than this, short of the Bucs making a Super Bowl run.

Mr. Russert was one of my favorite guys in the media also…

  2. Defense Rules Says:

‘Juggernaut in the Making’ … love that description of our Bucs. Now all we’ve got to do is win a bunch of games this year and everyone will believe.

  3. RayJameisStadium Says:

He is right about Jameis. Unlike Mat Ryan’s “Deer in the Head Lights Look!” in the 2nd half of the Super Bowl, Winston will look like a Wolf drooling and ready to finish his prey next February in the Super Bowl.

Koetter will be holding the Lombardi trophy next to the Glazer brothers in the Super Bowl!!!

    Go Bucs!!!

  4. KingCrabLeggs Says:

I can’t wait for August 5th… The #StickCarriers will unite at the Take Over!

  5. tnew Says:

If DJax gets man covered without safety help, the only thing the Bucs will have to worry about is scoring too quickly and tiring out the defense. I really really haven’t figured out how to stop the Buc’s this season. Multiple options on every play should be available. Couple the weapons with a QB who has been groomed to process information quickly, who has been competitive while learning to play without a full complement of weapons. Short of offensive tackle depth, the offense is covered.

  6. Dewey Selmon Says:

We are setup for a BIG let down. Deep into the playoffs? Juggernaut? Scoring to quickly? hard Knocks? OJ to the HOF? We are being set up to be last years Jags. If we miss the the playoffs again Pewterland is going to full meltdown load.

  7. Defense Rules Says:

Dewey, I hear ya but there’s one sure-fire way to dispel all of the doubts … JUST WIN BABY, JUST WIN !!! No excuses.

  8. Tampabaybucfan Says:

One of the few times I agree with Chuck Todd…..he just gave me a good reason to like him but I still don’t.

As far as the Bucs offense….I’m starting to think like everybody else….it should produce many points this year…..we finally have an exciting offense.

  9. BucsFanInChina Says:

FAKE NEWS! Failing sleepy eyed Chuck Todd = low ratings. Sad!

  10. DR FEELGOOD Says:

The only way we are in for a big letdown is if we get the injury bug. If healthy, this team can compete with (and defeat) ANYBODY.

  11. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

Whats sad is what has been constructed here in the Bay is undeniable by people that are fans of other teams. Oddly so called die hard Bucs fans are having difficulties believing what has happened right before they’re very eyes. Thank you Mr. Licht, you said when hired”this team will be built in the mold of new ebgland patriots”. You were a man of your word cause I can easily see it.

  12. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

I believed you when you spoke Mr. Licht. Now I can sit back and enjoy all this “payback” that’s been year in the making. Fameis ain’t the only one tired of being disrespected. These muthaf@$!in networks gone stop using the Bucs in a negative light when showing highlights of other teams.

  13. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

The irony is those words came from a cheesehead. Those some of the smuggest arrogant fans you could ever come across. For years I’ve watched they’re body language. They are always like “its all good,no worries”. I’ve envied that ish a long time. No longer will I have to. I now have my own “American Badboy QB”.

  14. SB Says:

My mama always told me not to trust a man two first names.

  15. Eric Denman Says:

Im so tired of HEARING about our Bucs going to the playoffs, I’m ready to SEE it happen!!

  16. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

SB you told me up there in cheesehead country they see us coming. Not that I thought it but I see you weren’t lying.

  17. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

Suckas wanna see us go to playoffs. Real Gs wanna see us win next year’s Superbowl. Raise ya standard homeboy.

  18. Skipper Says:

Tim Russert was awesome, he is missed. Gotta like Chuck Todd.

  19. duthsty rhothdes Says:

    @Joe
“President Tweet”? That supposed to be a shot? For 2 guys who supposedly realize why the 4th estate has become so hated these days, why you want to go and try to knock the guy who successfully subverted their vile & blatant bias and dishonesty and was the first President to successfully utilize social media in his election bid? I don’t recall ever reading you guys churning out any knocks against the former on here like “President if u like ur doctor u can keep ur doctor.” Even after a staff member of the former was caught on camera admitting that was a blatant lie told to We The People, and laughed about it. I personally gained a new level of respect for two guys who claimed to still hold journalistic integrity in high regard based off the last Ira podcast. Leave the blatant bias and junior high style shots to the fake news leader and their ilk. Not on my #1 Bucs site plz.
Find your sense of humor, please. Sheesh.–Joe

  21. Howard Cosell Says:

You hear that rumbling sound off in the distance?
    Howard hears it.
    It’s getting closer.

  22. Howard Cosell Says:

    @ Buc4Lyfe79
The MSM took all of the potus’ insults very seriously.
Corrupt and absurd as they are, they still believe that
    they’re beyond reproach.
    They’re in an endless meltdown
obsessing over the potus like a jilted school girl.

That said I don;t think Joes meant his comment as derogatory
and he’s not a part of the MSM. He’s a good guy.

  23. Howard Cosell Says:

What happens when the Peter King preamble becomes 2 or 3 pages long?

  24. steve Says:

“Mike Evans is a human highlight machine” Best part of last year was watching what this man did to Richard Sherman!!!!

  25. Howard Cosell Says:

    @Me?
    Case in point.
    Thank you

  26. Joe Says:

What happens when the Peter King preamble becomes 2 or 3 pages long?

You will have fun reading it.

  27. Howard Cosell Says:

    Lol!

  28. BKNYfootballhead Says:

Also, joe in no shape or form criticized Present Dump? Grow a pair, snowflake

  29. unbelievable Says:

President tweet’s supporters sure are some fragile fragile snowflakes, I swear…

  30. DoNUTS Says:

I agree Trump is getting a raw deal by MSM. Its really unfair that Obama and his policies were never criticized in the media…by anyone named Rush, Hannity or OReilly…when he was in office.

    Oh right….(light bulb turns on…hopefully)

    😎

    Humor is the best remedy.
