Evans Stunned By Playoff Drought

July 28th, 2017

How long?

Mike Evans was surprised yesterday and it wasn’t a pleasant surprise.

Evans was discussing the upcoming season and stressing while the hype of the Bucs with all the new toys for America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, is nice and all, games are won only on the field and the Bucs have to live up to the hype.

In particular, Evans all but said the season is a waste if they don’t make the playoffs.

“We haven’t won anything yet,” Evans declared. “We haven’t been to the playoffs in my three years here, going on year four. But, that’s the goal every year, to make the playoffs. I see why there’s a lot of excitement, we have a really good team and a really good roster. So hopefully we all stay healthy and put in the work and we can reach our goal which is the playoffs. In the tournament, anything can happen.”

Evans got to talking about playoffs again and learned an ugly truth.

“We haven’t been to the playoffs since 2010?” Evans asked. “When was the last time we went to the playoffs?”

When Evans was informed it was not since 2007, Evans reacted as if someone told him his car had just been stolen. He jolted back in disbelief.

“2007? All right, so 10 years,” Evans said. “So hopefully we can break that. So yeah, we have a lot to prove. We’re good on paper, but we’ve got to do it.”

Just think about it: There are hardcore Bucs fans in high school, perhaps in college, that don’t even remember the Bucs in a playoff game! Shoot, there are Bucs fans of legal drinking age that likely don’t remember the January Sunday night when Chucky hoisted the Vince Lombardi Trophy aloft in victory.

That is shameful!

You know what is worst than the “decade of no playoffs” was watching the incompetence of coach my scheme and watching the moves of the worst gm in Buc history of mark dominik (pop-star)

no playoffs is embarrassing, but having those 2 in charge is what made this whole franchise a joke, and one of the “worst” teams in the league year after year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The tide has now turned!!!!! and we have very good people in charge!!!!!!!!!!!

    GO Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. RayJameisStadium Says:

Yes! Today is the start of turning on the new beast in the NFC SOUTH.

    Expect Different folks!!!

Expect even a difference from our Bucs last year. The offense, defense and special team will have a more Bad A$$ flavor to our pallet.

2017 a season to remember. Koetter will hold the Lombardi at the Super Bowl while standing next to the Glazer brothers!

    Go Bucs!!!

    ^palate lol

  4. German Buc Says:

That is shameful. Especially when you think, the guy who lifted the Lombardi trophy the year before Chucky did it four more times since then…

  5. Bucsfanman Says:

@RayJa- I was having this discussion with a Steeler fan friend of mine and I flat out told him that this is not the same Buc team, even from a year ago. If anything, this off-season has only cemented the thought that it will not be long before the Lombardi returns to Tampa Bay.

  6. tnew Says:

I still watch the 2002 Super Bowl on DVD with the same group I watched the game with pretty much every year, before the actual Super Bowl. Honestly, we are all getting sick of it because that was our last playoff win. Let that sink in. Mike Evans was 9 when they last had a playoff win.

  7. The Buc Realist Says:

    @bucsfanman

I had that same conversation!!!! But it was last year!!!!!!! Good to see you finally on board!!!!!! We need to fill up these pirate ships!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Its a Realist Repost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    @lakelandbuc

I have been preaching the good word of “reality” for years!!!! The sheep did not want to hear back then!!!! Now I am saying it is time to start believing!!!! For the first time in a long time, The Realist is excited about this team!!!!!

Now Head Coach Koetter is here to end all of that!!! Full support from the owners!!! Real NFL coaching staffs!!!! Lets play some ball!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!

  8. JimmyJack Says:

Realist you are just flat out wrong. Lovie Smith did a horrible job on the sideline, don’t get me wrong. But Smith recruited a lot of good football minds and gave this orginazation direction. He coordinated some nice drafts while here and had a lasting impact with the players under him. But if you don’t believe me just ask Mr Winston or Mr Alexander

  9. Bucsfanman Says:

I’ve been there brother! This team though, has far more talent than last year. It’s almost too much excitement. I’m driving my wife crazy right now!

    FIRE THE CANNONS!!!!

  10. The Buc Realist Says:

LOL jimmy joke thinks the incompetent one “recruited” and “coordinated “drafts!!!!!!!!

Just when you think all the sheep have turned in their wool and seen the Licht!!!!!!!!!!!! They could have fired coach my scheme and the Bucs would have drafted JW3!!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. JimmyJack Says:

Yeah I’m a sheep. Sounds very accurate since my opinion is vastly different then the majority. Maybe think before you type?

Anyways you may continue along with your dillusion that the mere move of firing Lovie magically and instantly changed everything. Bit a true realist would understand that it takes years and hard work to build a football team into a winner.

You sir are a lost cause and a crying shame.

  12. JimmyJack Says:

But as I say don’t listen make my word for it. Just askk or see what Jamie’s and Kwon have to say about it.

Of course you never will because that wouldn’t fit your little bogus narritave that you like to peddle around here.
