What We’ve Been Waiting For

June 14th, 2017

Grab your popcorn.

It was beautiful.

Early in practice yesterday, the first minicamp session of underwear football, new Bucs receiver DeSean Jackson and America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, gave the hundred or so fans who took advantage of their special invite to watch the closed session a teaser of things to come.

Jackson wide right. Ball snapped. Jameis sat back in his make-believe-pocket for maybe four or five seconds, long enough for a receiver to get open deep. It didn’t take Jackson long.

Jackson threw it into overdrive down the sideline, got two steps on Vernon Hargreaves (who has been having a nice underwear football season) and was off to the races. Jameis launches a rainbow of pass to the right corner of the end zone and Jackson ran under the pass and hauled it in for six!

Awesome!

It was the highlight of the practice, a sign of why the Bucs went out got Jackson. It was what Jameis so terribly missed last year.

Winning Bucs coach Dirk Koetter referenced Jackson’s speed after practice.

“One thing I can promise you, we’ve had nobody on our team with that kind of speed,” Koetter said. “Those DBs are shocked every time at how much DeSean can run by them.”

Fans who can’t wait to sweat at training camp this summer? Don’t worry, Jackson will be the main feature. For the fans, Joe hopes the Bucs sell popcorn at the concession stand.

Vh3 will be a serviceable average cb for 7 to 10 years he is not a star nor will he be great so just accept the fact he has a gig in the nfl. not a hater but a realist. he just does not have the skill set to be great. Locals ALWAYS FAIL on bucs not a single star among them. FACT!!!!!

    JOE,

How in the hell was Djax able to catch the ball since he missed a few voluntary workouts. The way people were crying you would think it takes him ten years to get ready.

  6. Maze Says:

Hopefully now we can stop hearing this nonsense about resigning the old broken down, part-time WR kown as VJax. Ridiculous

I like VH3, and he definitely has a role on this defense; but I think our D evolves to the point where we have to have Ryan Smith covering the other teams WR1 most of the game and we might have to push VH3 into the slot/nickel role. (Eventually)

@feelthepewterpower, yea he has. The main bucs site has the video. I don’t think it was a go route though.

[Buccaneers.com does not have the video uploaded. There is a video of a Jackson catch that is a slant-in but it is not the play Joe wrote about. That was a 45- or 50-yard pass. — Joe]
