TV Slows Down DJax

Bucs rookie receiver Chris Godwin is from Philadelphia. So he clearly grew up an Eagles fan and, naturally, was rather fond of then-Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson.

Godwin, no slowpoke himself, was impressed by Jackson’s speed watching games on TV. Now that Godwin can see Jackson just yards away as his new teammate, Godwin has a whole different concept of speed.

“That’s crazy, man,” Godwin told Joe yesterday when asked if Jackson’s wheels were still Usain Bolt-like. “Obviously, that is a guy I grew up watching when I was younger. When you watch him on TV he looks really fast but you get out here, and he is still, really fast.

“And it is crazy because it looks so effortless. He is a guy who doesn’t really have to run full speed to really get by guys. It is awesome, it is awesome to watch.”

Joe thought that was a cool description. Jackson doesn’t even have to punch it into overdrive and he loses guys. When Joe was in high school, that was called “eating cinders,” because when running on old high school tracks, they had cinders not asphalt or rubber surfaces. So if you trailed a guy who was a burner, you were getting cinders kicked in your face.

Joe guesses a simpler way of describing Jackson’s speed is “savage.”

    Speed Kills!

DJax, Godwin, OJ, McNichols. These additions have definitely increased our offensive speed. Winston will finally be getting looks at open receivers for a change.

  2. PistolPete Says:

O-Line still needs to protect #3 and blast holes for the run game or all of these weapons are just wasted payroll.

  3. Bucsfanman Says:

I don’t know about anybody else but, I’m geeked!

  4. Buc1987 Says:

Bucsfanman…I’ve been geeked for about a month now. Worse than I remember any other past offseason since the one when they inked Gruden to a deal.

  5. LongSeason Says:

This helps players we already have. Who you gonna double, DJax or MEvans? You already got Brate, now add OJ. CGod adds a dimension of speed. In combinations, this may open up the underneath for A-Humph. We’ll have to see true success on the deep routes and Jameis cutting down on mistakes or all of this means nothing. I believe it will mean good things ahead provided the line blocks.

  6. FutureBucsGM Says:

Prove it, show up on the field come gametime.

  7. Ben the Ga Buc Says:

I think we’ll see Jameis’ mistakes cut down immensely now that he has true options to work with. He’s had to force things the last couple of years, especially last year, and now he shouldn’t have to as much.

Fanman and 87 soak it inn, its legitimate this time around. And watching that vid on Bucs.com made me feel the same way. Man his feet are turning over so swiftly.

  9. BigMacAttack Says:

Throw it 50yds and watch DJax run under it.

  10. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

  11. TampaBay AllDay Says:

Djax can probably beat me running backwards with a 2sec head start lol

  12. Brian Says:

Bucfansman, you are NOT alone! I cannot wait for the season to start.

  13. MadMax Says:

Like I said after the draft of OJ….we’re dangerous! NFC South is always there in January and it just might be us this time 😀

  14. BucEmUp Says:

I think its going to take a little time for Jameis to get used to having all these weapons in a live game, but once itstarts to click it will be scary

  15. JimmyJack Says:

The deep safeties that go against us are going to have their hands full. Hump and Brate and our RB are going to need to keep making plays on the quick routes. Our running game should be productive and wasnt as bad as many say last year. We are set up to have a perfect balance on offense.

  16. ARGH_M8E Says:
