Report: Adrian Peterson To Saints For $3 Million

April 24th, 2017

“Seriously?”

Yeah, there’s a new hole in the wall at JoeBucsFan.com headquarters.

And it has nothing to do with lingering rage over letting Michael Bennett leave Tampa for no good reason.

NFL Network is reporting Adrian Peterson is on the cusp of signing a deal with the Saints that will pay him $3 million this season. THREE!

The last Joe checked, the Bucs could seriously use a running back and $3 million is nothing in the NFL. Hell, that’s what the Bucs will pay Chris Conte. Bradley McDougald earned that last year. Jason Licht was willing to pay Mike Glennon $8 million this season to ride the bench.

$3 million? $3 million? Of course, maybe it’s really a bigger salary and the report is wrong. But Joe suspects it’s accurate.

Is Peterson washed up? Maybe. But Mike Evans and America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, think he’s still a legend and a guy who positively impacts those around him.

Joe would have been very happy to see Jason Licht invest $3 million just to find out.

  1. Pawel Says:

FAWK, I hate the fact we have to play against him twice if so.

  2. mike10 Says:

We shouldn’t be shocked that he went for so little.. what we should be shocked about is not kicking his tires.

    Huge mistake

  3. Waterboy Says:

It’ll be interesting to see if Licht was right or not on this one. It’s a no-brainer to sign him for 3 mil if that’s an option. I’d still draft a RB early but would play those odds every time for that price. We’ll see what happens. I was wrong about Mario Williams last year so hopefully I’m wrong again.

  4. BuccaneEric75 Says:

We’ll shut his old a$$ down. He’ll probably be out for the season before we play the Saints anyway.

  5. Blake_bucsfan Says:

If that happens, then I will be disappointed.

Why wouldn’t we take a flyer on AD AP for 3-4 Milliion?!!??!?!

  6. ndog Says:

What this tells me is, if available, we ARE 100% drafting a special runningback in the 1st round.

  7. Eric Says:

So we didn’t sign him and now he will make Light pay. I can’t freakin believe it, I’ll lose my mind if we don’t get a good running back in the draft and end up with crappy Cook. Mr. can’t run up the middle and only bounces runs to the outside to prevent another shoulder injury. This is almost as bad as using two picks to grab the worst kicker in the NFL.

  8. René Says:

We need some details but I don’t think so.

  9. Gencoimports Says:

America’s Quarterback also praised Doug Martin and how he’s looking in OTAs (WITHOUT being asked about Martin on a WDAE segment Friday) but Joe won’t write about that.

If the Bucs are going to draft Cook, McCaffery or Mixon like virtually everybody thinks is a lock, why would they bother signing a RB who avg. 1.9 a carry last year and is 4 year older than Martin?

Peterson going to the Saints is a band-aid at best. He is a mediocre receiver, which means he won’t fit it well in the Saints system. This is a win for the Bucs and the rest of the NFC South.

  10. Motley CrueHead Says:

I think the stupid one is AP he should have stuck to his plan and waited until after the draft to get a better deal from a better team that plays on grass to save his legs from additional injuries. This tells me one thing he panicked and took the only deal given to him some really smart coach said watch the tape it never lies to you, the tape showed a slow back that is not worth signing. Give me one of the young backs Joe not some washed up old guy!

  11. Fanalyzer34 Says:

    Eric,

What exactly is crappy about Dalvin Cook’s game?

  12. Tampabayucfan Says:

I didn’t want him but I sure didn’t want a division team to get him either. I’d actually rather have a motivated Doug Martin for $2 mil. I’m sure there are many who would disagree with that but he would be playing for his career and I think the odds are pretty good that he would perform well.

I like the idea of picking up a good RB in the draft but I’m not convinced we have to spend a first round pick on one.

  13. Gencoimports Says:

TampaBayucfan, agree 100% I hope they draft a back no earlier than the 3rd round.

  14. DB55 Says:

Call his agent now and offer 5.

One of the Joe’s just spent 2 months saying AP is washed up now you scared?

It’s hard to follow this team.

  15. Gencoimports Says:

The Joes don’t always agree, DB55. Sometimes I can tell which Joe is behind a particular post.

  16. JonBuc Says:

There’s a reason he was still on the market until now. His name is bigger than his game these days. Sad but true…

  17. Waterboy Says:

I keep hearing about Dalvin Cooks bad shoulders but it never looked like his bad shoulders slowed him down in any of the games I’ve watched. I didn’t even know he had bad shoulders. As long as he doesn’t have any knee problems or more serious issues he’d be my 1st choice at RB next season if he’s there at 19 but I wouldn’t trade up for him.

  18. Steven007 Says:

Relax. If he gets more than 50 yards against us I’ll be shocked. Our defense can catch an old AP, especially behind the Saints mediocre line.

  19. Tampa Tony Says:

Dude is gonna be motivated Week 1 and playing with a real qb. Licht and his scared tactics will regret not signing AP

  20. Tampa Tony Says:

    @Steven

Ingram tore us up what makes you think AP won’t?

  21. DB55 Says:

    Genco

    Oh I know!

We had a chance to line-up:

Jameis, AP, Doug Martin, Mike Evans, Desean Jackson all on one side of the ball but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

lets pass on Mixon too bc no matter what there’s no way we’ll finish 5-11 this season, I mean we have the Top 5th best DT in the league.

  22. Supersam Says:

Eh. Still rather have Doug and a late round rookie

  23. Rob Says:

Is pretty much rest of the last two years and I bet he has a fantastic year because now he has a chip on his shoulder. Okay no one wants to sign me. Now it’s on

  24. Stpetebucsfan Says:

I think some here may have missed Joe’s emphasis on the MONEY!!! Nobody is saying AP is the next coming of Adrian Peterson. Most think that Adrian has probably left the building……BUT

Joe correctly points out 3 million in the NFL is like greens fees at Mar A Lago…expensive but it’s all relative…in the NFL 3 million is NOT a real gamble.

    So that’s the downside…blow 3 million next year…no cap damage…no big deal.

The upside…AP has a freak year…what if AP pulled a Ricky Williams….that dude missed entire seasons due to ganja…he had some major injuries and additional suspensions take even more playing time…what were the odds that Ricky Williams would produce after all that?

In 2009, during the Dolphins ninth game, starting running back Ronnie Brown suffered a season-ending injury, and Williams, at age 32, became the starter for the remainder of the year. He finished the season with 1,121 yards rushing and a 4.7 yards per carry, along the way setting an NFL record of the longest time span (6 years) between 1,000 yard seasons (2003–2009).

Who knows what kind of season AP will have this year….but I GOTTA throw 3 million into the pot to call and find out!

  25. Rob Says:

He has pretty much rested the last two years*

  26. bucs_365 Says:

Maybe we can stop hearing about AP now…

  27. Abdominal Snowman Says:

Am I missing something? Don’t they have Mark Ingram?

  28. destinjohnny Says:

we should have signed him. then we could have put off drafting a rb and worried about other positions.

  29. Lord Cornelius Says:

Cool. This just shows how much the dude fell off a cliff last year if he’s willing to take dirt pay to not even play a big role in the offense… He isn’t a 3rd down back / pass catching back; so he’s basically Mark Ingram’s backup fighting for early down work. Unless you think they’re going to bench a guy who is in his prime and ran for 5.1 YPC last year.

Remember when Steven Jackson was killing it on the Falcons in his final years? Me either. If anything that signing set their ground game backwards by wasting snaps on him

  30. Bucnjim Says:

Are we the dumb one or part of the smart 31 other teams that would not even take a flyer at $3 Million? So many teams besides the Bucs could use the help @ RB has to make you wonder. So the combined age between AP and Bree’s is what 70!

  31. DBS Says:

Thank you for not wasting a spot on another injury prone player.

  32. Lord Cornelius Says:

    “Tampa Tony Says:
    April 24th, 2017 at 4:11 pm
    @Steven

Ingram tore us up what makes you think AP won’t?”

Maybe the fact that Mark Ingram is much better than AP right now? 5.1 YPC last year vs 1.9 for AP.

Even if you go back to 2015 you can see he fell off a cliff towards the end of that year. From December on he averaged 3.2 YPC over the last 6 weeks.

In general he’s averaged 2.92 YPC over his last 150 carries which is sh1t… and that was before his latest injury and further aging to his body

  33. Steven007 Says:

    @Tampa T

Our rush defense will be improved. Big Chris Baker in the middle next to a (perpetually) motivated GMC is better than what we had last year. Moving laterally (which is what he’ll have to do) isn’t 32 year old AP’s forte. A 26 y/o Ingram scares me a lot more than a 32 y/o rusty (from lack of play) AP coming off yet another injury. Yes, he’ll be motivated week 1 but we won’t play him until the 2nd half of the year.

  34. DB55 Says:

Looking forward to revisiting these comments in late dec like week 17.

  35. Steven007 Says:

Ha, Lord, you beat me to it.

  36. LifeOfABucFan Says:

Come on licht! Get on the phone to AP’s agent..pop in a couple of million dollars more, hell offer one mil extra! WTF!?

  37. DB55 Says:

    LC

    Minn line is also poop.

  38. Gencoimports Says:

    DB55,

I don’t think it would have been practical to have AP and Martin on the same team even if they both were at their absolute prime. Neither has played special teams which creates a big problem in itself and they don’t compliment each other they way Charles Sims did with Martin during his 2015 season play.

  39. Lord Cornelius Says:

And I disagree with the idea that there is no downside to the signing. I don’t care if he costs $25k – the downside is a wasted roster spot on a position we need to develop for the future.

The downside is instead of taking a young back in the draft we may think “well we have AP/decent depth so we can pass on that this year” when it’s one of the best RB draft classes in a while and we need a true workhorse. The downside is we give snaps to AP even if/when he sucks because of the name recognition

  40. Mark2001 Says:

Can anyone say cellar and top 10 draft pick again?

  41. Eric Says:

    Passing was correct move.

    Now get Cook.

  42. R.O. Says:

Let’s sign every old FA for $3M.. “That’s Nothing”

  43. Waterboy Says:

1.9 yds per carry while only playing in 3 games and 1 or 2 was after coming back from surgery. The guy never rushed for less than 1,200 yds while playing 12 games or more.

  44. Eric Says:

I’m worried about this move, simply because of the offensive scheme. Saints are arguably the most pass happy squad in the league.

Now with a crowded box to account for AD on the NFL’s most consistently good offenses and receivers are going to have a field day.

I’m still hoping AD is too old for this but I’m taking Snead and Thomas in fantasy now.

But let’s be real, saints will still have an atrocious defense so this won’t solve it all.

  45. Bucnjim Says:

Winston is young, Evans is young guess what? The next up and coming RB will be young and on of our top three picks this week!

  46. Lord Cornelius Says:

    “DB55 Says:
    April 24th, 2017 at 4:28 pm
    LC

    Minn line is also poop.”

True. But the other 2 RBs on that team – Matt Asiata & Jerrick McKinnon – both have averaged close to 3.4/3.5 YPC their last 150 carries in about the same time span – or about 0.5 YPC better than AP. Sam Bradford doesn’t help anything for sure lol

  47. Waterboy Says:

Licht is scared to fail. People forget about players that you miss on in free agency that go on to have success with other teams but they remember when you bring in a free agent that doesn’t workout. He likes to play it safe in free agency.

  48. Tampa Tony Says:

    @Lord and Steven

I hope you are right. Can never have enough talented players

  49. Mark2001 Says:

Anyone think better than 3 dash 3 in division?

  50. Steven007 Says:

Eric, no one is going to stack the box for this AP. I’ll be surprised if he survives the season on that carpet in the SuperDump.

  51. DB55 Says:

They prob not getting 9 men in the box either.

  52. Bucnjim Says:

Safe is not bringing in women and child beaters that’s ok with me.

  53. Eric Says:

Hmm ya don’t stack the box against arguably the best rb in history. That’s real smart.

No matter how he has performed as of late, something tells me there is still gas in his tank.

We don’t play them til late in the season so I’m confident he’ll be done by then.

  54. Bucnjim Says:

Scared is not signing injury prone players like Sweezy?

  55. Steven007 Says:

@Tony, I agree. But as someone already said I would hate for that signing to prevent us from going after a big time back in a good running back year.

  56. Eric Says:

Just saying, their play action COULD be deadly.

This move will either pay major dividends or effectively initiate rebuilding mode with a domino effect of peyton being let go and drew retiring.

  57. Steven007 Says:

Eric, exactly. The fact that we see them late changes the equation.

  58. Mark2001 Says:

Eric. What if it works out for them and they make the playoffs and we don’t?

  59. Jim Says:

This is going to come back to haunt us.

  60. Eric Says:

Because Cook can’t and won’t run up the middle. If you can’t run up the middle in college and get huge gains then what do you think will happen when he gets to face professional athletes with real speed to ensure he can’t bounce it to the outside. Reggie Bush was 3 x the back coming out of college than Cook is. Almost went #1 but went #2 instead. He is superior in every category, particularly his speed and agility. You know the tests that Cook absolutely bombed!! If Reggie couldn’t make a living running outside the tackles then how is Cook supposed to despite how limited he is athletically??

  61. Bucnjim Says:

Mark the Saints will not make it out of last place unless they can improve their D and pray their 40 year old QB can make it through another season.

  62. Mark2001 Says:

Hope you are right Jim…but seems to me we lost a big game to them last year…didn’t we?

  63. Eric Says:

Exactly what I was thinking. I thought this division would be us vs Atlanta and Carolina giving fits. Now it’s anyone’s if AD has one year left.

Let’s be real here, this division is now an offensive juggernaut. We need to add pieces on that side because our d looked solid. We already have the best d in the division IMO so let’s focus on weapons for Winston.

  64. LakeLandBuc Says:

He should look awesome..he’s missed 28 games during the past 3 seasons. He should be full of energy, running like new born Calf.

  65. Dreambig Says:

Eric, your calling the best running back in FSU history crappy? A little overly critical don’t you think?

  66. Mark2001 Says:

I think light wouldn’t love to go d in the first and o in the second, quality of player being equal.

  67. LifeOfABucFan Says:

I really hope and pray to all the gods that we don’t get Cook. I am so freaking tired of hearing Cook this Cook that..Cook is not the answer you freaking jock-strap carrying homers!

Can’t wait till this draft comes and goes. Cook with all the red flags and you FSU (probably most of you didn’t even take a class there) homers can all jumo off a bridge our drink a special koolaid.

AP would have been the perfect bridge player for a RB taken in 3rd Rd.

I’m signing out till after the draft..

  68. Zwak Says:

Let’s see what we do in the draft??

  69. JabooBuc Says:

Eric, you should try watching some film on Cook. He can run wherever you like and he’s pretty damn good. Not to mention the threat in the passing game. BTW, there are a lot of other teams that passed on AP. His film from last year was very average. My guess is the medical is bad and he is basically done.

  70. Buccfan37 Says:

It seems a stretch that the Saints could reach far into the playoffs, even making the playoffs is a big step that NO is not expected to reach. I still think they are the last place team in the division when the season ends. AP or no AP. Strength of schedule has the Bucs around the fifth toughest. Atlanta has the most difficult schedule, the Titans and Bears have easy schedules also.

  71. Mark2001 Says:

Love to see Barnett, but saints will probably pick him.

  72. JimmyJack Says:

we don’t need another band aid here. This team is up and coming and building with yougth. AP doesn’t have a place in the plan here.

And we don’t play Nawlins til late In the season so hes just an afterthough til that game gets closer.

  73. Eric Says:

Hey guys, I want to clarify there are two Erics and I think Dalvin is a baller.

    Just an FYI.

  74. Bucnjim Says:

Not sure when or where the Bucs will address the RB position but do know it will involve someone young with the highest of potential.

  75. Buc1987 Says:

Thanks original Eric. We can tell the new Eric is grasping at straws.

  76. BigHogHaynes Says:

@SB we’ve all seen the tape of MIXON, you know the one where he losses self-control, the one where he commits the “biggest crime and sin in America at the age of 17, now take a look at the tape that matters now and tell me…HE AINT THAT DAMN GOOD! you have to listen to me cause I’m going to eat tonite regardless, I believe we should trade back if at all possible and make sure we get MIXON! BigHog approves this message! GO BUCS

  77. Eric Says:

Correct there are two and i’m not all over Cook’s balls. Not saying you are Eric but some of you guys make me wonder if you are all wearing skinny jeans. I mean I thought the Jameis man crush was bad but at least he was worthy of the praise so far. Cook is no Peterson, Faulk, McCoy, Fournette, or Martin for that matter. I just don’t sweat any man like the way some of you do. It’s actually pathetic to know so many of our fan base is so blind.

  78. Since '76 Says:

yawn…dude only averaged 2.9 yards per – before he got hurt.

  79. Eric Says:

No 87 I’m just not an FSU nut hugger. Hey get that cook pube out of your teeth!

  80. REGINALD GRAY Says:

HE IS A 32 YEAR OLD RUNNING BACK COMING OFF INJURY.. PLEASE STOP ACTING LIKE THIS DUDE IS 25 YEARS OLD .

  81. Buc1987 Says:

Cook or McCaffrey… used to be Mac 1 Cook 2 for me, but I recently switched.

Eric…it’s good to see you care so much about a certain part of Dalvin’s anatomy. One could say fixated. Drooling?

  82. Eric Says:

smh, yeah you sure got me…please

  83. BUC55 Says:

You people who are afraid of AP are pathetic. Apparently you didn’t see him play last year. Do any of you remember what Vincent Jackson looked like last year (prior to his injury)? That’s exactly what AP looked like (prior to his injury). The saints just threw away 3 million. LOL

  84. Mark2001 Says:

Ross… then they can call us the “greatest show on turf”. Catchy, right? I just came up with that. Sure.

  85. Dreambig Says:

So “bad Eric” (anti Cook Erik), how do you like APs pubes in your teeth? I know you are all in but you might want to hug that old guys nuts a little more gently. You’ll pop one of those brittle boys. He’s not as good as he once was, but he might be as good once as he ever was. LOL

  86. Getaclue Says:

    You are fake news

  87. Jameis for the Win Says:

AP has to be done if Patriots didn’t bite for 3 million AP definitely chooses them if numbers are the same. At 19 or trade down best option is Joe Mixon no injury concerns of Dalvin Cook his incident occurred his freshman year no history to speak of since then Mixon added to this offensive nucleus and we are set for years to come Winston, Mixon, Evans, D-Jack, Brate

  88. DallasBuc Says:

If this happens it will be more evidence that Jason Licht doesn’t have a clue what he is doing and is bordering on his benefactors level of incompetence.
If nothing else you could have AP for his last few productive years while simultaneously keeping your defense from having to face him twice a year and still draft a running back anywhere in this draft that makes sense.
    Licht is a bobbleheaded idiot.

  89. Lord Cornelius Says:

    “Eric Says:
    April 24th, 2017 at 3:53 pm
So we didn’t sign him and now he will make Light pay. I can’t freakin believe it, I’ll lose my mind if we don’t get a good running back in the draft and end up with crappy Cook. Mr. can’t run up the middle and only bounces runs to the outside to prevent another shoulder injury.”

So this guy talks sh1t at people for liking Cook calling them FSU nuthuggers as if they are blind idiots; but he thinks Peterson and his 2.9 YPC over his last 150 carries is a sign of great things to come and will “make Light pay”. What an awesome educated fan.

Thank god you’re here to set us all straight. I mean all those draft analysts who didn’t go to FSU that have Cook as their #1 or #2 back in the draft are obviously being paid by FSU to have that opinion. People consistently mocking him in the 1st round are obviously ALL FSU homers.

News flash – pretty much every Cook run that went to the outside was designed to go to the outside. Just look at the play design. I just watched the first few minutes of his “ultimate highlights” and I found only 1 play in the 15 first big runs that looked to be designed inside that he broke outside – and it was for like a 60 yard TD and there was a ton of space outside which is why he broke it there..

There were 8 outside runs (off tackle or sweeps) and 7 inside runs all for huge plays / typically TDs. Some of his inside runs are his best tape imo and saying he isn’t a good inside runner shows your ignorance. Saying he runs outside because of fear of his shoulder shows you’re just making sh1t up completely out of your a5s based on some weird bias

  90. NFLNut Says:

AP didn’t sign yet … Saints apparently offering $3mil … Blount still on the market too and won’t return to the Pats it seems as they just traded a 5th round pick to get Mike Gillislee and gave him a two year $6.4mil deal.

I think both Bount and AP will be signed by someone AFTER the draft … and if the Bucs don’t get a feature back in the draft and either don’t draft one at all or just draft a primarily receiving back, I think they top the Saints offer and sign AP … or they sign Blount and call it a day … or they bring Doug back … we’ll see.

  91. Steve From Oregon Says:

What is everybody worried about. We do not play division games until midway through the season.

What makes everybody think that he will even be healthy and still playing by the time we get to our Saints game.

    Yawn…non factor.

  92. Fred E. Buc Says:

    I think this means:
    – Bucs plan to draft a RB; they couldn’t guarantee he’d be the feature back. And/or
    – Bucs plan to keep Martin; they couldn’t guarantee he’d be the feature back.
So we’re not really any further to answers yet, but tune in Saturday night. So…pay a paltry $3M to AP and “hope” he does well? Would AP accept NOT being the “the main guy?” I don’t think so, nor should he. In NO, he’s got a QB on his last gasp and the Saints are in desperation to win something again. They’ll come up short.

  93. BuccoDav Says:

Sooo… Belichik, who seems to have a 6th sense when it comes to when a player is washed up, doesn’t sign AP. But Licht is an idiot for not signing him?
    I don’t get you people sometimes…

  94. feelthepewterpower Says:

could be agent speak to drive the price higher for AP…..AP has been involved with many teams…..

  95. cmurda Says:

There’s obviously a reason that the Bucs didn’t pony up the 3 measly million that AD would cost us. The reason is DC, Dalvin Cook. We will get him at #19.

  96. JabooBuc Says:

Well if DallasBuc says it it must be true. You did see him play last year after a long layoff due to injury? You do know he’s 32 and has a lot miles on those legs? You do know that most RB’s hit a major wall in their 30’s? Do you have any evidence he is even75% of what he was? Have you seen his workouts or medical records?

I’m guessing no to all of those. I’m guessing you don’t have the foggiest. From the sounds of it, there is no deal with the Saints yet so who knows what will happen. One thing I do know though is I guarantee Licht is much more dialed in than DallasBuc.

  97. gotbbucs Says:

Oh no…..he’s going to run up and down the field on us to the tune of 2 yards per carry. Lord help us.

  98. unbelievable Says:

    LOLOLOL!

I wonder if fans of every team are this ridiculous.

Someone earlier posted that we’re gonna finish in the cellar, with a top-10 pick no less, all because we didn’t sign a 32 year old running back coming off his 2nd knee injury. Wha?

Can’t make this s(p)it up! LOL Thanks for the laughs guys.

BTW the Bucs have won all 3 times they’ve faced AP over the years…

  99. EA Says:

I’m not concerned about this move, we don’t play a division game until the second half of the season, by that time AP will be on IR.

  100. mark2001 Says:

So unbelievable…what will it take to end up in the cellar? A little less than a split with the three other teams in our division. You think we will beat Carolina twice next year? That we will beat the Saints twice? Atlanta? Any of them? Would like to see it, but it won’t be easy…is no certainty…we split with the Saints.

And do we have an easier schedule than Carolina and NO…and who has the higher draft picks? So you don’t think we could be anywhere from 1st to 4th in the division? Really. I’m saying the line between success and failure if a fine line. But don’t underestimate Peterson. Remember as well…Minnesota didn’t have Bridgewater at the beginning of last year. There were a number of Offensive issues prior to his injury. Did you see the Vikings play? I think I’ll listen to Jameis, or what the other guys that worked out with him think of him before you, or anyone but Koetter and Licht. But go ahead scoff…you probably scoffed when I said Lovie was a huge mistake when he was hired, didn’t you?

  101. Ndog Says:

Bighog he ain’t that good and will be out of the league in 5 years or less. Book it.

  102. MrNolesAllDay Says:

    Cook @ 19

  103. DallasBuc Says:

    Make Mixon a Buc

  104. OneBuc55 Says:

If he’s not THAT DAMN GOOD …then the tape is a lie…the tape that matters now!! Ndog live and let live!!

    @mark2001

Of course there is no certainty, any given sunday anything is possible. Makes no difference in this situation. And no, I was unimpressed with Lovie and never wanted him from the beginning.

What I don’t see is a 32 year old running back coming off his 2nd knee injury being the deciding factor between a successful season and finishing 4th in the division. That seems overly dramatic. It would appear Licht feels the same way, but as others have mentioned, the deal isn’t even done yet…

  107. Oxycondoms Says:

To that Eric guy cook is better then fournette and McCafferey in yards after contact . Twice better then McCafferey actually , the stats don’t lie

  108. Trubucfan22 Says:

I feel like he makes the saints worse tbh. There is no doubt his ability has greatly diminished. His stats last year was 1 YPC LESS than Doug Martin’s was. Peterson is going to need some really good o line play to be successful again. I don’t think the Saints have the o line to do that. And then there is the style of offense the saints play. Peterson can’t catch. His use in the Saints offense will be to run the ball and that is it. Making the Saints 1 dimensional when he is in the game. If Peterson is in, they are running the ball.

I don’t understand the hype for Peterson. He is too old to be reliable. If it isn’t Father Time cashing in, it will be his knees giving out. He bucs were smart to avoid Peterson. This draft is loaded with RB talent as we all know. I’d much rather take my chances there than on a 32 yr old Peterson. Heck, I’d even give Martin 7 mil to stay this year than sign Peterson. Signing for 3 mil just shows how many teams think Peterson is worth anything at all. Saints are the only team answering his calls.

  109. ElioT Says:

Good, shut his child-whipping a** down twice a year.

That’s “if” he’s not already injured or just pouty and ineffective because Brees and Payton want to pass the ball 60 times a game.

    F**k him.

    Go Bucs!!!!

  110. Getaclue Says:

I smell BS with this. I see no reason for it to be released that his is going to be signed for 3 mil and he hasn’t been unless this is his agent throwing this out there to have a team throw a mill or two on top

  111. DPewter Says:

Not only did we not sign him but we have to face him twice a year. Classic Bucs move.

    I’m going to laugh/cry when he torches…twice.

  112. Brandon Says:

I kinda sorta wish we had at least brought him in. On the other hand, he’s played 20 games in the last three seasons. He’s run for 1000 yards once in the last three seasons. He’s averaged over four yards per carry once in the last three seasons. He may very well be extremely fast and strong still… but can he last a season. I don’t look forward to facing a healthy AP… but just the fact that he’s 32 and his recent history tells me that if we face him this season, it will likely be only once, and he may be a shell of his former self.

Joe Mixon will be on the Cover of Madden 19

Joe Mixon has had no injuries that required surgery. OTOH, Cook has so many surgical stitches that he looks like a human Zipper.

Drafting a HB with a history of shoulder (?) surgeries is like drafting a………

“She-Drunk-Logan” was the only human or, in this case, mutant to ever put a hand on him….EVER..!!

    Hmmm..??

Maybe we should draft “She-Logan” at #19…and play her at FS?

    Hands…???
