  1. Joeypoppems Says:

I voted BPA just because all of those positions would be a good “need” pick. My top 2 players they could get are Chidobe Awuzie and Budda Baker.

Just like the 1st round they still have a lot of options. If Licht can nail these 2 picks tonight tho, we are in great shape

  2. LifeOfABucFan Says:

BPA or Safety…lots of options still left..and damn good ones at that!

  3. gotbbucs Says:

Best player, but leaning towards edge rusher.

  4. Dewey Selmon Says:

I’m wondering if Licht pulls the trigger to get someone. He is known for it. not saying if it’s good or not, just keep it in mind.

  5. Gilhealy Says:

    BPA, hopefully that’s Curtis Samuel.

  6. Mojiska Says:

Too many good players left to really state one position over another.

  7. Lord Cornelius Says:

We have enough positions that could use help that BPA is the way to go.

    RB or defense – R2/R3

I honestly could even see us trading back a little if we can get an extra 4th or something. WR is DEEP through R5 and not much of a priority need after the Howard selection. Still should add one because this class has so many but the impact of a defender/RB would be much greater than our 3rd/4th WR or 5th/6th target in the passing game in terms of helping us win more games next year and beyond

  8. Eric Says:

The running back obsession is getting old. I love our fan base but I cannot wait to laugh at some of them when we skip DC again.

  9. Tampa Tony Says:

After re signing Conte and signing Wilcox I doubt they take a safety. Bucs needs to come out of this draft with another WR, DL and CB

  10. Buc50 Says:

Hard to take many of you seriously when you consider RB to not be a need. Doug will be out the first 3 games. Draft your starter and concentrate on the OL/DL.

  11. NJBucsFan Says:

Should have an option for not Cook

  12. FireDaCannons Says:

BPA, but leaning towards WR. A few of the guys available are potential studs. Same goes for other positions, but it seems like there is a much bigger gap between 2nd round and 3rd round talent for WR than the other positions we’d be most interested in.

RB seems like it could wait till 3rd, maybe even 4th – get a bruiser to pair with Simms. Can’t be prefect at any position, so let’s focus on making sure we get the best we can, and be smart with the picks

  13. Stpetebucsfan Says:

I voted RB because I believe that to be our largest need and there could be a run on RB’s tonight. Ten teams including us need RB’s and there are how many “names” left. I want our RB! I do however get BPA and if we went that route while not my first choice it’s always a safe choice.

Talent only I rate them Dalvin, Mixon, Foreman, Kamara, Perine/Mack/Hunt

That’ no longer a large number and most people think that will eliminate Mixon’s fall for off field stuff. Bottom line…I’m holding my breath until we get one of those guys.

  14. FireDaCannons Says:

NJBucs – I would hit that button so many times.

I am so sick of hearing about Cook. I hope he goes at the start of round 2 just so we don’t have to hear the name anymore.

(Unless the Bucs draft him, of course. In which case, I want him to be breaking records)

  15. PRBucFan Says:

Trade up for Baker please 🙂

  16. Miko Says:

a lot of good cornerbacks left, BPA might be a corner

  17. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Stpete, love ya buddy, but you left out James Conner, Jamaal Williams, and Brain Hill.

  18. Defense Rules Says:

Joeypoppems & PRBucFan, how are y’all planning on using Budda Baker, as a Nickel CB or Safety? As a nickel, he’d probably be great (super fast & quick … 4.45 sec 40-yd). As a safety, hit on him seems to be that he’s too small (5’10” & 195) to deal with the big tight ends (which everyone seems to be getting nowadays?). Josh Jones from NC State is even faster (4.41 sec 40-yd) but much bigger (6’1″ & 220 lbs) and sounds like he loves to hit people (sometimes a little too much … needs to play more disciplined apparently). I’d think go with the RB first, then hope that Jones or Obi is there next.

  19. JimmyJack Says:

We need defensive help most right now so I wouldn’t mind seeing them get S or DE maybe corner. You guys can cry about the running game all you want but Licht is savvy enough to draft only draft for need like the Browns and Jet and the pre2014 Bucs are famous for.

The only reason they will consider RB is because this seems to be the year to get one……. Just likewhen Licht drafted Evans it was not done just cause we needed that position it was done cause that was the year to get one.

If we pass on RB you guys will all cry. Calm down, Quizz can bruise some ribs and Barber seems fit to handle some load. They could also snag Charles whose sitting out there among plenty more options.

Don’t even get me started on WR.

  20. DB55 Says:

    BPA.

  21. JimmyJack Says:

Screw Baker. We need a heavy hitter on defense.

  22. Lord Cornelius Says:

with how dumb a lot of teams drafted last night they’res likely to be some insane talent that falls again lol – so take the OJ Howard of R2 please

  23. RustyRhinos Says:

BPA DL Please! Several 6’4″+ fast 270-290 lb DE’s who can rush the passer. We can always use more Large DE’s who can pass rush, Always! Ask any DB.

Then WR/RB/S BPA in following rounds.
    Go Bucs!

  24. PRBucFan Says:

I’d use him as a Free Safety, the same way Earl Thomas is used (5’10, 202). His play in 2016 was as good or better than first-round safeties Jamal Adams, Malik Hooker and Jabrill Peppers. In fact, only Adams graded higher last season, per Pro Football Focus. His ability to drive on the football and close the gap between himself and receivers is second to none. He reads a play, trusts himself and explodes toward his target.

  25. PRBucFan Says:

Your entitled to your opinion Jack lol.

  26. JimmyJack Says:

I laughed when the saints got that CB cause they can’t stop Mike Evans then we slide in and 1up that move but adding OJ.

Panther got Mccaffenery and should ruin his ability in their power run scheme….. or they will switch blocking schemes ruining their, already suspect, Oline.

Was hoping Mccaffenery would slip to us because Dirk would utilize his abilities much better then Carolina.

So I cheered for our pick thinking it could work out great. then laughed at the rest of NFC South for notching thier picks……That’s a pretty decent night I say

  27. Buc1987 Says:

Running back. To hell with the defense and ya wanna know why? Cause we have a franchise QB, so you keep giving him weapons.

Can the opposing teams score 40 on us? Cause that’s what it might take pretty soon. Get us a running back Jason.

  28. DB55 Says:

What would it cost to move up 18 spots to the top of the second? How about if we keep the #50 pick?

  29. Buc1987 Says:

    PRBucFan Says:

“Your entitled to your opinion Jack lol.”

This is JBF PRB….no one is entitled to their opinions. 🙂

  30. DB55 Says:

I loved Carolina pick. Kwon and LVD loved that ish too. Still can’t stop laughing. Mccaffrey will be hurt by week 5.

  31. JimmyJack Says:

I just like to see some thump from the safety position. Most rosters only have room for one great player from the safety position, if you can find one.

Just go back in history and look at all the Hall of Fame Safetys that ever put on cleats. IMO the ones who had the biggest impacts for their teamswere the ones who could lay down some hammer hits…….Like Lynch, or Palamou or Taylor. Ill take one of them three guys over any other safety thats ever played the game……Doubt Baker would be the exception. Not saying my way of thinking is right thats just how i feel about the position

  32. JimmyJack Says:

87-so you say to draft RB…..reason being cause we hot a franchise QB.

That’s a silly way to think of it

  33. Couch Fan Says:

We had a heavy hitter who subsequently got flagged and fined repeatedly for those hits. Ill take a guy who can cover and pick the ball off…

  34. WhatdaBUCisthis Says:

87… Uh ask the falcons how that story ends.
Love reading your post but that one is a lil loopy my friend
    Stand down

  35. Lord Cornelius Says:

Budda Baker hits as hard as any secondary player on tape I’ve seen from the class – but I haven’t watched as much tape of them as the WRs/RBs/TEs.

He’s a sure tackler though. Amazing on blitzes. Tons of range and instincts. I’d be stoked with him R2 but otherwise think we could get better S value R3.

  36. DB55 Says:

    Jack

That’s illegal in today’s game. This year they can get kicked out the game.

  37. GhostofTedford Says:

I hope for defensive drafts. My reasons –

Gerald “My knees hurt” McCoy aint getting any younger.

Ditto for Ayers and Mcdonald and Grimes.

On paper our offense looks ready to explode. Would like to see an O-lineman just because O-line is a concern for me.

  38. JimmyJack Says:

good point couch fans……those types of safteys are a during breed and the NFL out to make them extinct.

  39. GhostofTedford Says:

The days of Ronnie Lott, John Lynch and Dashon Golden are over. It’s all about player protection and concussion awareness.

    In Licht we trust.

  40. JimmyJack Says:

I know…..They invented the “hitting to hard” 15 yard penalty about five years ago. It bothers my that the NFL thinks fans are stupid enough to not realise that’s what they are calling.

P acmans hit was legal unless the true meaning of the penalty is “hitting too hard”

  41. JimmyJack Says:

Thats bull guys…….I call total BS on a few of you.

Yes true they are making it tougher to lay down hammer hits. Players adjust and laying a huge hit will always be proven way to be successful on defense.

The Bucs are starting to get respect around the league now. The games will get more intense. And it’s a fact that games between contending teams are officiated differently. The NIL knows fans will lose interest if the refs start deciding who makes the playoffs with this silliness lipstick flags. Games will have different tones as long as we keep winning

  42. GhostofTedford Says:

I hope we address the Center position, hate to see splitting up Marpet and Smith as their chemistry has developed. Love to see Licht pick up ethan pocic from LSU.

  43. Bucs Guy Says:

We all agree Bucs need DE, S, RB and WR. Maybe CB also this year.

DE s the only choice for pick #50. You can’t get a good DE past the 2nd.
RB in the 3rd. Lots of great value here.
S in the 4th. Draft is deep here.
WR in the 5th. Value still available here.
CB could be in 5th also instead of WR . BPA depdepending on who you like.
Maybe a LB in 6th or 7th and OL filler.

  44. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Tampa Tony Says
“After re signing Conte and signing Wilcox I doubt they take a safety.”

Do yourself a favor and actually go look at their stats, then compare them to Bradley McDougald, who we lost. We are nowhere near as good as we were with him. Huge drop off. Especially with Wilcox.

  45. GhostofTedford Says:

    @ jimmyjack

I have noticed some players lead with the shoulder when hitting a guy, some of those the receiver was slow getting up, had the wind knocked out of them.

  46. JimmyJack Says:

sorry Redford but i thinks it’s a done deal that Mar pet covers C. Unless he struggles but that won’t happen

  47. JimmyJack Says:

Yeah players are going lower on hits nowadays……..They’ll begin to perfect those types of hits and well start to see more and more knees getting shredded

  48. JimmyJack Says:

bbl………I’ll check back on this page later. Been some of the best Bucs Convo I have seen on this site

  49. Buc1987 Says:

    WhatdaBUCisthis Says:

“87… Uh ask the falcons how that story ends.
Love reading your post but that one is a lil loopy my friend
    Stand down”

Check the polls….I’m in the majority.

@Jimmy….yes a RB to keep the defenses even more off balance. I know it’s hard for you to comprehend cause you want defense, defense, defense, but like I said last night. We don’t have Bard Johnson, or Sean King at QB anymore. The D doesn’t need to BE dominant. Middle of the pack will do just fine.

So YES a RB would do me just fine in the 2nd. Just like the rest of the 28%.

  50. Buc1987 Says:

No one is afraid of Jaquizz Rodgers or Sims or Barber for that matter. Yes RB is another weapon for Winston. A big one.

  51. Steven007 Says:

Trade up for NO ONE. Let the draft come to you, just like round one. Easy.

  52. rayjay1122 Says:

Never thought I would say it, but I think Mixon would be a great fit at RB. Doubt he is available when we are on the clock though.

  53. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Defense Rules

Baker would fit great as a Nickel CB or FS. I think he can be moved around between the two. Honestly, I think Chidobe Awuzie can also do that AND play outside. Plus he is an effective blitzer which could allow Mike Smith to be more creative with his plays.

Im super high on Chidobe Awuzie right now lol.

  54. Lord Cornelius Says:

Joe Mixon / Dalvin Cook / Alvin Kamara or wait. Do not reach for a need.

  55. Buc1987 Says:

I won’t sneeze at Budda Baker though.

  56. Stpetebucsfan Says:

Again though the OJ pick changes my thought on RB. Now I want a guy who can get the dirty yards…help us run out the clock in the 4th…and most of all protect our franchise blocking in the backfield.

Foreman would be ideal for this…Mixon is large enough and runs well but his blocking? Perine I do not know. He’s got some size as well but can he block?

Foreman is considered the best blocking back coming out.

I just don’t want some little guy giving it his all and getting bull rushed and jammed right back into the QB. I’d like a beast mode back that can lay a little lumber himself. I’d love to have a really mean nasty aggressive RB…one that enjoys contact so much they love to block!

  57. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Love Foreman Stpete, no Mixon is not a great blocker, but adds a ton of juice to the passing game.

And to answer your question about Sameje, he is very solid in pass pro. Probably the second best blocker behind Foreman.

Another Guy i highly reccomend you check out before tonight kicks off, James Conner out of Pitt. 6’1 235 and runs like a cross between a jack rabbit and a water buffalo. In addition to being a legit recieving option out of the backfield, and is also a solid blocker.

His story is amazing to boot.

I know you can’t ascertain a full fledged player evaluation based on highlights, but i think you can extrapolate the kind of player he is by peeping this reel.

    Enjoy.

  58. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

BPA, but my wish list is
    Budda baker
    Marcus Williams
    Curtis Samuel
    Chris Godwin
JuJu (would be my favorite on offense)
Mixon? Cook (don’t think he’s there)
    Foreman (would be a MONSTER)
I’m sure I’m forgetting guys. Ohh, also Brian Hill

  59. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    @blake
I must tip my hat, you were correct.
I won’t be salty, I still love the pick

  60. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

Schefter reporting bucs are among teams trying to trade up with the fudge packers

  61. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Thanks Goat, although I wouldnt really say I was right. Because I didnt think there was a chance he could fall to us. But I am so thankful that he did.

  62. Defense Rules Says:

Joeypoppems, I like Chido better also (convinced he could play CB or S), but I doubt he’ll fall very far in the 2nd rnd. Better size than Budda (6′) and plenty fast enough (4.43). And PRBucFan, Budda certainly has the speed to play Free Safety, but with all the monster TEs we’re seeing nowadays, my concern is more with his tackling (one hit on him seems to be that he has difficulty with the big guys). Not a huge deal if you’re a CB with Safety support, but if you ARE the Safety, could be an issue. Maybe not. I’d still be happy if we draft any of those Safeties in the 2nd or 3rd rnd. I’d just feel better this year if we had more speed back there (with outstanding instincts and tackling abilities of course).

  63. JimmyJack Says:

87-they are not going to draft a RB just for the sake of getting Winston a weapon. That’s a silly theory that’s makes little sense.

If they do draft a RB, the reasoning will be because of how rich this draft is with that position………..Strike while the irons hot theory. A tried and true method.

If I’m wrong about why they would pick a RB it won’t be because they use a silly theory like yours.

I could argue that Chris Simms scares a few Dcoordinators out there……or at least took a few by surprise in 2015. I could also argue that Quiz and Martin’s shoulders and helmets scare a few defenders just before they get ready to make another downfield tackle on them.

  64. JimmyJack Says:

Weapons for Winston is all well and good. But it does leave the question…….What if the protection breaks down?

The dreamers, who want an all weapon draft, have no good answer to that Q hahahahhaaha
