Klatt: O.J. “Great” Selection

April 28th, 2017

FOX Sports voice can’t believe

Joel Klatt was no fan of America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, coming out of Florida State.

The outspoken FOX Sports football analyst, like too many others, thought Jameis was a menace and very likely a bust-in-waiting for the Bucs.

But like most except the vile, knuckle-dragging haters, Klatt has seen the light. And now, the former University of Colorado quarterback suggests the best thing to happen to Jameis might be the selection of tight end O.J. Howard by the Bucs yesterday.

“The other Alabama player that dropped — and I don’t know why? — O.J. Howard, the most talented tight end in the draft,” Klatt said. “Tampa Bay got him at 19? Pairing him with Jameis Winston and all the threats they have there on the outside? That was a great selection.”

It was a steal and in a twisted way, it’s going to be cool to watch defenses try to stop, all at once, Mike Evans, DeSean Jackson, Rudy Humphries and Howard.

Now if only the Bucs had a reliable, dangerous every-down running back to make the offense Friday the 13th for defenses. That could be resolved later tonight.

And Cameron Brate, although , somehow, you can’t see this.

  2. Buc1987 Says:

    Joe…I’m so. I’m so. I’m so.

I’m so excited, and I just can’t hide it
I’m about to lose control and I think I like it

  3. Chris Says:

87, visions of Howard running the seam like Gonzales and Graham did against us, Winston hitting him for 40 yarders, Jackson…..ME……wow

  4. JTHV Says:

Getting Cook and somehow Chris Godwin tonight and the Bucs’ Offensive weaponry would be complete.

But I believe Bucs focus on Defense tonight.

  5. Ndog Says:

I love how this guy says “pair him with Jameis Winston” like that is a good thing when he was killing Jameis a short two years ago. Oh yeah people have memories dumb a**.

  6. Joeypoppems Says:

I haven’t been visiting this site long, but this is definitely the first time I have seen the 2 Joe’s disagree this much lol.

  7. Buc1987 Says:

Ndog…people have turned…like we said they would all along.

@Chris…it was tough sleeping last night with such visions. I said last night Jameis wouldn’t be able to sleep and be stuck with a big smile on his face. I think I was talking about myself. lol

Did I mention that I’m excited?

  8. Oj Got The Juice Man Says:

The NFC south has gone from the worst division in football to arguably the most competitive in like 2 seasons. Our run defense is REALLY gonna have to step it’s game up. Hopefully VH3 takes that next step and Brent Grimes defies father time. Jaq Smith is gonna crack 10 sacks, mark my words. That front 7 is gonna be the talk of the league by December. Sweezy and the boys are gonna open up huge lanes for our rookie running back. Too bad for Doug, had he laid off the drugs, he would have the best offensive line to run behind since 2015

  9. Chris Says:

Go f yourself N. You’re the JoeBuc fan police? Do I and did I have questipns about Jameis taking chances at FSU and with the Nucs? Yes, but have I acnowledged his leadership and hpw damn jappy I’m not the Browns and a slew of teams desperate for a qb? Yes. Did I attack him because of any allegations at FSU? I kept it to the football side of the matter. Been a Buc fan a lot longer than you Dog.

  10. Buc1987 Says:

Poor Glennon. Can this kid ever catch a break? First Winston now Trubisky.

  11. Chris Says:

    Bucs, damn phone.

  12. Stpetebucsfan Says:

Again what would Eddie Lacy in his prime have done for this offense. Marshawn Lynch? That would be Donta Foreman who broke Earl Campbells records at Texas and consistently rushed for 100 yards a game….EVERY game in fact. He also has a reputation as a good blocker.

I was desperate for speed…for explosiveness…we have largely solved that and will add some depth with a fast WR…so I wanted Dalvin. IF Licht somehow worked magic and made a reasonable move to trade up in the 2nd and get Dalvin I would be happy….but now that we have so many targets, some of them with speed…I’m not as desperate.

Now I’m almost more concerned about balance and power. We have the makings of a great running line with Marpet, Pamphile, and hopefully a healthy Sweezy anchoring the middle. They are mean road graders now let’s get a back to match them….let’s make the other team hate to face our running game. So it’s not a threat to take it to the house….we have plenty of those everywhere else on the field.

  13. Chris Says:

Apologize tp N Dog, ypur comment was after mine, thought you were coming at me, now I see it was the writer….although Ive probably started a war I shouldn’t have started with you…..feel a little Trump like now

  14. Chris Says:

Damn s…ty reading comprehension on my part.

  15. Buc1987 Says:

StPete…I’ll tell ya one thing with all these weapons on the field at the same time it sure would make the RB’s job easier too. Imagine lining OJ and Evans up on the left and running to that side. That’s a lot of blocking muscle. Things are about to get crazy insane around here. Like 40 a game insane.

I can’t believe you of all people would blaspheme so!!! You can’t put Mitch Trubisky in the same sentence with #3…two totally different levels of player.

In fact I’m not sure MG8 doesn’t have at least a 50-50 chance of keeping that job. If he plays well enough this year I’m not sure Trubisky is so great he gets them to bench MG8 next year.

Bottom line….I’m not an MGMer but I do respect his talent. He has a “chance” to hold off Trubisky. He had NO chance of replacing #3…we’re talking two different levels of talent.

  17. feelthepewterpower Says:

Rudy will get MVP because he will be left wide open on every play LOL

  18. America's Commenter Says:

The hungry and healthy 2015 version of Doug Martin would fit the bill nicely.

  19. Tampabayucfan Says:

    @87

Joe can’t always get what he wants
Joe can’t always get what he wants
But if he tries sometimes well, Joe might find
    Joe gets what he needs

    The elusive RB

  20. TeddyTB Says:

The craziest part is he’s faster than mike evans and gets plenty yards after the catch. With him and brate Winston will always be able to complete on those big 3rd downs

  22. Gilhealy Says:

^^^^ who they looking to pluck?

  23. LakeLandBuc Says:

I still believe that the Bucs will stick with Doug Martin.I never thought they would draft a RB in the 1st round. O.J. Howard was the BPA at 19,just go BPA the rest of the draft.

  24. Kevin Says:

The reason I think the Bucs will take Perine in the third is his size, strength/power. He’s not shifty, he’s not flashy but the guy is STROOOOONG!

Wit the offense now that this guy has been added, defenses will not be able to stack the box anymore, and when you have a back like Perine, he’s going to have linebackers watching the clock waiting for the game to be over tired of him running them over. He will wear the opposing team DOWN!!!!!!

This was an incredible pick! SOOOO glad they didn’t screw up and take Cook. Watch out baby BUCS ARE BACK!!!!! WHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

  25. Buc1987 Says:

lol StPete…of course not even in the same solar system as Winston but Trubisky will start eventually. I think Glennon was better at NC State than Trubisky was at NC. I’m an ACC guy after all.

The dude was drafted 2nd overall and they gave up something to get him. He’ll be starting by mid-season if not next season. Poor Glennon.

  26. tdtb2015 Says:

I guess voluntary workouts didn’t go well for Glennon. MGM must feel deflated. Maybe he will settle as our backup in the future. He is gonna have to settle for Backup QB of the Future somewhere.

  27. Buccfan37 Says:

I slipped and fell and busted my trubisky.
