Jameis And Draft Chatter

April 27th, 2017

What’s he up to now?

Some very interesting background information on America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.

Yeah, it’s offseason conditioning season and underwear football is around the corner. It’s still the offseason, technically, and one would think Jameis might be taking life easy when he’s not at One Buc Palace.

One would be wrong.

Joe made an appearance today on the “Jeff Cameron Show” heard on ESPN Tallahassee. Most of Joe’s 20-minute chat was specifically about the draft. Then, near the end, Cameron dropped something on Joe.

Cameron has been in contact with Jameis’ dad, Antonor Winston. Previously, Cameron, a St. Petersburg native, had a loose agreement with Jameis for a live sitdown in his studio, or a sitdown anywhere in Tallahassee wherever Jameis may be. Jameis is expected to make a trip or two to Tallahassee before the start of training camp.

But in speaking with Antonor Winston, Cameron learned that interview may not happen. Why? Antonor Winston told Cameron that Jameis is so fired up and driven to improve and get the Bucs into the playoffs, that he literally is 24/7 committed to the Bucs and from morning to night. Jameis is doing virtually nothing but working out, throwing passes and locking himself in a dark room to break down tape. So much so Antonor Winston said he isn’t sure if Jameis has time in his day for a in-studio visit.

Jameis was always driven, but apparently now, Jameis has taken it to a new level, so Cameron learned. The conversation about Jameis begins at the 16:45 mark. The rest of the interview is strictly about the Bucs and the draft.

If we can score Mixon, Conley and Brantley in rounds 3,4 and 5, I am in!! OJ in the first and Samuel in the second!! That would be sweet!! Go Bucs!!!

  2. NJBucsFan Says:

    This is awesome!

I was not on the Winston Wagon the yr we drafted him but glad he’s with us

  3. DB55 Says:

    Who’s surprised? Not I!

And to think that as the leader of this team he should actually be at Disney world or playing with his marvel/D.C. action figures. IJS

  4. JimmyJack Says:

He sounds like that old baseball player from the 20’s(forgett the name).

When asked what he does during the off-season he replayed “I lock myself in a dark warehouse and wait for the season to begin”

  5. Wesley Says:

    Love me some Jameis!!

  6. Since '76 Says:

Joe Williams, RB – Utah in the 5th…steal of the draft!

  7. A-Train Says:

  9. Fred E. Buc Says:

Good heavens, all other possible draft options have been exhausted…covere so well by JoeBucsFan. Since we’re now bantering the ridiculous, why not? Here’s the story (a very vicious rumor–not to be taken seriously?)…
Jameis made a comment about about playing baseball the other day, as reported by Joe Bucs Fan and picked up by national sports outlet BSPN. Some sleuthing was done to find that not only did Jameis say that, but he has also met privately with Derek Jeter and Jeb Bush–new Marlins owners, who not-so-jokingly invited him for a workout when the Marlins are back in town and before the OTAs. Jameis supposedly said something about “we’re a family” and said he’d be there, and would bring his big f-ing stick (code for bat?). Jameis is checking with his agent for any clauses about “just talking.” Turns out the Glazers have found out and are furious. They have issued an order to Jason this afternoon to “look into drafting a QB” today. The news has caught on so fast, that Mike Glennon called Jason and offered to come back to Tampa NOW if he could be the starter. Jason put him on hold at 4:30pm and said…hang on. Let me see. As of 6:30pm. The Bucs are adjusting their draft board and Mike Glennon is still on hold. Developing…

  10. Ndog Says:

If Mixon didn’t punch that girl no one on this board would even know his name. The guy is going to be a joke in the NFL. Some of you people are unreal.

  11. First Down Tampa Bay Says:

Literally I think any pick but O.J. Howard or Jabrill Peppers is the right move. Really cannot go wrong in this class (except with the aforementioned prospects).

    Sharpen those pencils!

  12. SB Says:

    1. Barnett
    2. Godwin
    3. Perine
At this point I would go by the most expensive bottle of bourbon I could find!

  13. SB Says:

However NOS may be correct. Maybe it is Cook

  14. LUVMYBUCS Says:

Adding Mixon would be a great addition to this offense.

  15. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Hoe wrong you are Ndog, If Joe Mixon didnt punch that girl, he would have had an entire extra season of play, and would likely have been the sole featured back at OU. And people would be talking about him as a surfire 1st rounder, and the best overall running back prospect in this draft.

  16. Blake_bucsfan Says:

    How****

    No disrespect intended dude.

  17. DB55 Says:

Hey did you guy hear that there a draft happening tonight? It just came on bspn.

  18. SB Says:

Can’t remember who said it maybe Brian baldinger but he said that Mixon is a wide receiver playing running back. Sorry but I don’t see anything that Dynamic about Mixon other than his catching ability. Perine far outshined him in actually running the ball. Heck Perine rushed for more touchdowns in his second year then Mixon did in two.

  19. Jeagan1999 Says:

Howard (who will probably be long gone) or Njoku in Round 1….Curtis Samuel in Round 2…..Mixon or Hunt in Round 3…..and Jameis will be smiling from ear to ear, because our offense will be extremely potent!

  20. Blake_bucsfan Says:

^ That would be Jerry Angelo SB.

And I’m afraid that you’re allowing yout biases based on his specific situation effect your good sense.

Mixon is supremely talented as an athlete, and one heck of a ball player.

  21. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    SB

Lol, I’ve never heard that one.
Almost everyone I know that has either played, or coached in this game.
Says this kid is one of the best overall running backs propects – in the past 20yrs.

  22. DB55 Says:

    SB

Put the crack pipe down bro.

  23. SB Says:

Ok DB I set it down for a minute. I still say that Perine is the better pure running back all of his number say it too.

  24. Blake_bucsfan Says:

I’ve been saying it for months now, Joe Mixon will a have David Johnson/ Le’veon Bell type of impact at the next level.

That’s what his skills on tape, and athletic profile suggest.

As BigHogHaynes would say, he’s that damn good.

  25. Guzzie Says:

Perine is slow 4.65, he’s not a good receiver, not explosive at all….he reminds me of Matt Asiata with out the receiving ability. He’s the last of the ten RBs with starter ability

  26. SB Says:

Really Gussie? That’s why he has 49 rushing touchdowns in only three seasons. Because there’s no way that a Maurice Jones-Drew clone could make it in today’s NFL?

  27. SB Says:

Perine Showed Out the only year dad he didn’t have to share carries with Mixon. I just don’t think Mixon is as good as everyone else does. My opinion only

  28. Tackleblockwin Says:

Like I’ve mentioned before, and I know many of you agree…it is nice going into drafts not looking for a QB!

  29. Tampa Tony Says:

Good to hear Jameis is working on improving

  30. Tval Says:

    Mixon isnt d johnson l bell… Hahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaa… Just stop

  31. Tackleblockwin Says:

Perine punishes opposing tacklers and Mixon jukes or runs by them. Very different runners. I guess it all comes down to what you like most.

  32. Ndog Says:

Blake you’re crazy but as I always say we shall see. That’s the beauty of this country brother we can agree to disagree.

  33. BayCityBucBoy Says:

Everyone is entitled to a show they’ve matured over the years, besides the young lady is doing fine now and has been paid a nice settlement also , because you’d have to be a damn fool to think that Joe Mixon not worthy of a 2nd Rd. Pick for the Bucs ! And if he’s sitting there with a 6′ 1′ 228 Body and 4.45 speed with very good hands and homerun ability, I think the Bucs pull the trigger on him for a good additional weapon for Winston if Cook is off the board ! Or we could wait out till the 3rd. For maybe Kareem Hunt or Mack

  34. Ndog Says:

One guys tape I love is Tak McKinley. I know his shoulder is a unknown but if healthly he is going to be a great pick for somebody.

  35. BayCityBucBoy Says:

I’m just saying folks , Joe Mixon is gonna make teams wish they hadn’t rushed to judge him as a young man and a very old mistake ! Are you still judging Big Ben ? or Brett Favre for texting his Penis to a reporter ? Let it go because you sound like haters and besides he doesn’t have fumbling issues or gang affiliations like Dalvin Cook comes into the league with on his resume’ .

  36. Mikadeemas Says:

Y’all surely got off track. James is THE MAN! Just get #weaponsforJameis tonight!! GO BUCS!!

  37. SB Says:

@ Ndog, I would not be upset at all with Tak. I don’t think that he is the right pic at 19 but trading back I would be okay with.
@ Bay City…. Neither of those women required surgery.

  38. NFLNut Says:

    YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I stumped for O.J. right from the start and explained that Jameis loves 2-TE sets and that OJ Howard would be the best possible pick as he is a true 3-down TE that never needs to come of the field … however I didn’t actually think he would still be on the board at #19 as the chatter was he could go high as #4 or at the lowest #10.

OJ is the type of player that could be with Jameis for the next 10+ years, have a HOF career and be one of the best TE’s to ever play the game!

    I AM STOKED!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, I will say that if we get Cook or JOE MIXON, we could have the scariest, most talented, most dynamic and flat-out BEST group of 5 skill players in the entire NFL.

Mike Evans and D-Jax on the outside with OJ and Brate on the line and either Cook or Mixon in the backfield … NO DEFENSE COULD MATCH UP WITH THAT … that would be sick!!!!!
