Happy Holiday!

April 20th, 2017

The football gods speak at 8 p.m.

Yes, it’s a holy day at JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters.

It’s known as Schedule Day, when the NFL announces its regular season schedule for the coming season.

The bounty of joy arrives at 8 p.m. Joe will have the details here, and there will be a fancy announcement show on NFL Network.

Serious Bucs fans understand. As soon as that schedule comes out, fans start memorizing it and planning their lives around night games, early Sundays, road games and their beloved home-game tickets. Tailgate preparation begins and order is quickly established for the rest of the year. Life makes sense again.

Joe plans to celebrate today at Abe’s Place in Clearwater, which will be home to five — FIVE! — JoeBucsFan Bucs watch party events this year.

So much intrigue in this year’s schedule!

There’s the Mike Glennon homecoming! And don’t forget the Josh McCown/Austin Seferian-Jackwagon homecoming. Man, Joe hopes Kwon Alexander drills both of those guys in the gut. Of course, the Bucs also host the champion Belicheats and get a crack at four NFC playoff teams from last season: Packers, Lions, Giants and Falcons.

When I first read the “Happy Holiday” header, I thought to myself “Aw Joes, you made my morning that much brighter. This one’s for you”. Then I realized it’s schedule “holiday”. 😎

  4. 941BUC Says:

Joe should the fans expect Tampa to have any Sunday primetime games on the schedule?

  5. Eric Says:

Uh oh sounds like the schedule includes other NFL teams.

    Usually does not bode well.

I hope theres a primetime game in Tampa. Its been a long time since there was a primetime game in Tampa. Pretty sure the last time was in 2007 against seattle.

  9. Tampa Tony Says:

Waiting to laugh at all the fools who post W’s and L’s by certain games before the draft and a single practice is complete

  10. Walter Says:

All I know is the Seahawks train began off the strength of a win from the visiting Patriots in the “you mad bro” game a few years back. Said once they won that game they felt they could beat anybody in the league. For me personally “ion care” who we fall short to next season Ducshe long as we beat the pats. That game will be the measuring stick. Hi Dave..

  14. Orlampa Turd Says:

    Happy 420 everyone!

  15. LargoBuc Says:

At Green Bay and vs New England will be our toughest two games. Im not scared of the Packers at all, besides Arod that team is a mess. Arod is elite but if we’re a good team that one player shouldnt beat us even if he is insanely good. As for the Pats, hopefully we get them in November which is usually when we’re at our best. It will be a good test. Belicheck has that team run like a well oiled machine. It will be interesting to see how we compare. As for every other team

  16. Rick Says:

Happy 420 and Schedule Day from San Diego. My wife asked me last night – which Bucs game are we traveling to this year. Answer – schedule comes out tomorrow

  17. LargoBuc Says:

I predict we open on Monday night vs the Giants. Two winning teams from the east coast. They could market the matchup as OBJ vs Evans. Could make sense.

  18. Eric Says:

I’m going to predict Bucs vs Bears week 1.

    Bucs 42 Bears 17

    Jameis 420 yards 3 tds 0 ints

    Glennon 217 2 Tds 2 ints

  19. GenocideD Says:

    Happy 420, Joes!

  20. Birdman Says:

Ayyyy that’s what I’m talkin about Joe, happy 4/20 to you too!

  21. rriddler Says:

Pretty sure we’ll get a prime time game since the Patriots are coming here. Only question is will it be a Thursday, Sunday or Monday night.

  22. unbelievable Says:

Another Happy 420 from San Diego to all my fellow Bucs brethren!

    Excited about the schedule too.

  23. Dewey Selmon Says:

Bucs will open vs Atlanta in the new dome on Sunday night.

  24. SOEbuc Says:

Happy 420. Do you know what this means? ONE MORE WEEK!!! We got some northern away games also so I’m always thinking of the below 40 Bucs rule.

Actually, We had a home Monday night football game vs the Colts in 2011 and also a home Thursday night game in week 8 of the 2013 season however that is easy to forget about since we were 0-7 and pretty much checked out at that point.

  26. Vico Says:

    Can’t wait for this!
Dear fellow fans, this year I’ll be watching the TB bucs for the first time after 20 years of following them on Mexican TV where they have appeared not-so-many times (unless it’s a Prime time game or they play either the steelers, cowboys or more recently, the Patriots). I just wanted to share my excitement about this. Lol.
Anyway… Happy holidaze to everyone at joebucsfan.com,
    sincerely,

Bad hombre from south of the border.

    Happy 420 from Seattle.

  29. LargoBuc Says:

We had a monday night home game in 2013 against the Dolphins. It was our first win of the season. And personally I dont count thursday night as primetime since every team gets at least one thursday game, which lessens the significance sans opening night and thanksgiving.

  30. Stpetebucsfan Says:

I get that RATINGS are king and perhaps the largest influence on the schedule.

But man can they not at least consider the weather? Do they? Maybe I missed it.

But I do not get 1PM kickoffs before Thanksgiving? Why the need other than ratings. In other markets October and November bring great football weather…crisp autumn days…in Tampa 1PM games are not a good thing!

    Just sayin’.
