Jameis: “We Want DeSean”

February 22nd, 2017

Wants Redskins WR.

It is now official. The Bucs are on the DeSean Jackson clock.

No, Joe is neither getting this via the “Custodian of Canton,” eye-RAH! Kaufman, and his high-ceiling sources at One Buc Palace, nor is Joe getting this from any Bucs suit or coach.

No, Joe is getting this from America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler, Jameis Winston by way of Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times.

In a nice piece of hustling, Auman caught Jameis after he spoke at a St. Petersburg school mere hours after Josina Anderson of ESPN.com stated Jackson, projected free agent wide receiver late of the Redskins, has a “rapport” with Jameis.

Jameis left no doubts with Auman who he wants Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht to target with his pockets full of Team Glazer loot when the free agency dinner bell rings in 15 days: Jackson!

“I’ve met him before, and we want DeSean. You better believe we want DeSean here,” Winston said. “I think he would be a great asset to our team. Me growing up an Eagles fan, seeing what he did for the Eagles and back in his Cal days and even with the Redskins, I would love to have DeSean. …

“I feel like I can be one of our best recruiters.”

Of course, the Redskins could foul all of this up and franchise tag Jackson.

But if Jackson hits the free agent market, then Joe has only one thing to add to this: Git ‘er done, Jameis!

#W4W Dirk loves the vertical attack. Get him!!!!!!

  2. bucs_365 Says:

Well, I would be good with this. Go get him Jameis, and keep his punk-ass in line!

  3. JaxBucsFan Says:

    Jackson”s agent is smiling.

  4. SB Says:

When he said “we” I feel like he included me.

  5. jthv Says:

Hmm … I guess “I’ve met him before” means they have a “good rapor” to Josina Anderson. I trust nothing this time of year, not until I see it.

    Go get him JW!

  6. jthv Says:

    *rapport

  7. krockbucs Says:

we need a good vet to team with mike then draft one or two. would be a great move to get him

  8. Judge Smails Says:

Having a receiver who can stretch the field and keep those safeties honest is huge. Opens things up for tight ends, the running game and for Evans.

  9. Kevinthepainter Says:

Growing up watching him…..desean is basically his grandfather lol

  10. Jeagan1999 Says:

We had pretty good luck with our last FA WR named Jackson!

  11. Joeypoppems Says:

Alright Jason Licht you’re up now. What Winston wants, Winston gets.

  12. Destinjohnny Says:

    We need him and Cambell.
Then we can draft the bpA
    For the whole draft.
Having said that Oj Howard or DE at 1?
Adding oj and Desean to this offense would be nuclear.

  13. tmaxcon Says:

All hail the messiah!!! This team has not a legitimate leader or difference maker in a decade

  14. LakeLandBuc Says:

DeSean Jackson said that he want to play with a great, great, great QB. Why not sign him and draft his “protege” John Ross.

  15. DB55 Says:

“I feel like I can be one of our best recruiters,” he said. “My main focus is to win. That’s what I enjoy doing

I guess no one has informed JW that DJax is a thug gangsta locker room cancer that will never get past the good ol TB Bucs booster club. At least according to the experts on the airwaves.

Somebody said today they were concerned about DJax in the locker room and that he’d prefer garçon even though he’s a year older than DJax. Bruh these experts are dumb af.

DJax like JW is about winning and his attitude will reflect that. DJax is entirely too real for the TB area. He’d be the next Joey Galloway or better but he a “thug”. Ya already know…

  16. Kobe Faker Says:

I spend half the year at near philly and the other half the time at lakeland. I know philly football

DJack has been the best Decoy Receiver since he entered the league…there will be no other receiver than Djack, that will create space/single coverage/no blanket safety coverage up top for Evans

we are not talking about separation of reciever and corner but separation of zones/huge areas all over the field

I would still prefer Garcon, But Djack with another reciever in the draft (dede Westbrook) …ill be happy

Ladies and gents…its time to develop Jameis winston to a superbowl QB. enough of the nonsense 7-9. 9-7….BS! we wasted last year not fully developing our franchise

LET HIM LOOSE and let him learn and TAKE OVER

Give him the tools so he can mentally and situationally beat the best defenses to win superbowls

NOBODY in the next 12 years will take us to the promise land but only JABOO himself

He has to be at that championship level and learn he must

***”It was, It is and It will always be about the QB position” Kobe Faker

***”I would prefer we only win 3-5 wins per year for Jameis first 4 years so we can build through the draft until Jameis is ready in his 5th year” GM Kobe

***”When Jameis is ready to go deep in the playoffs starting his 5th year, No one(vets) will be in the roster of jameis first 2 years” Kobe Faker

  17. BucTrooper Says:

I love Jameis….but shut up dude.

  18. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    @lakelandbuc.

I still do not understand why you’d want to draft a guy that obviously cannot stay healthy.

Cant play Wide Reciever with no knees. And John Ross has torn his Meniscus in both Knees. And his left Acl. And he is gonna be getting shoulder surgery after the combine.

He catches nearly everything pinned against his body.

He is rendered impotent by press coverage.

Literally the only thing he has going for him is speed.

    Jeff Demps was fast too.

  19. WhatdaBUCisthis Says:

Yea if we drafted Ross, I’d be kinda pissed
    No more lame duck wishing
    Clayborn
    Adams
    Sweezy???

  20. JabooBuc Says:

Please tell Jamie’s the 1st rule of fight club

  21. JabooBuc Says:

Agree with Blake_Bucsfan about Ross. Plus, we’ve had enough of the UW prospects

    ………….
Talk softly but carry A BIG MOTHERFOCKING STICK!!!!!

  23. LakeLandBuc Says:

Kobe…you be hanging out in Lakeland?

  24. Buc1987 Says:

Blake…I’ll take me some dink and dunk with Evans and JuJu Smith Schuster (USC) on the trade down or trade up in the 2nd.

TWO big bodies at WR. Sprinkle in some Brate and Hump.

Then a DJax to take the top off the D.

Do want you want with the 19th pick.

  25. 941BUC Says:

Joe has any word came from Jackson about him coming to Tampa?and what are the chances we get Pryor and Jackson both?!

  26. Buc1987 Says:

Oh free agency get here soon…

  27. Jameis for the Win Says:

DeSean Jackson as the #2 receiver makes Evans and Humpries better Hump can be the slot ala Eldemen for New England. Add a dynamic TE and RB and we are definitely one of best offenses in the league.
1st round-Oj Howard or TE from Miami
2nd round-Foreman or trade up for McCaffery
Add another FA receiver for depth rest of draft BPA

  28. Joe Says:

Joe has any word came from Jackson about him coming to Tampa?

    No. But money talks.

  29. StPeteBucsfan Says:

“Thug” is an overused word that doesn’t really accurately describe most of the players to whom it is applied. DJax took awhile to grow up. It’s been a long time since his youthful indiscretions. Age has a funny way of focusing a person!

DJAX will not be a problem in the locker room for the Bucs. He will be a horrible problem for safeties. Joey Galloway was considered “greedy” because he maximized his salary and it cost the Cowboys valuable cap space. But Joey was a great find for us and I sense DJAX may also want to go out in a blaze of glory.

He’s already fabulously wealthy even if he doesn’t sign another contract….ever!
He’s not some high school punk trying to emulate the boys in the hood. He’s a grown man who want to wrap up his career on a winner.

Does the believe #3 is the real deal? That is the question.

  30. USFBUC Says:

I guess if Jameis wants to play with Desean then so be it. I would rather have a guy who can be part of our plans long term for the next five years.

  31. Bobby M. Says:

Good move if the Bucs draft a WR….but Jackson is injury prone, now in his 30s and the Bucs are cursed with our free agent pickups. If he goes down, we have exactly what we have now.

  32. Joe Says:

guess if Jameis wants to play with Desean then so be it. I would rather have a guy who can be part of our plans long term for the next five year

Would be surprised DJax sticks four years. Doesn’t stop Bucs from drafting and developing a WR. Think Ayers/Spence, Grimes/Hargreaves.

  33. JabooBuc Says:

No SB, first rule of fight club is to not talk about fight club.

  34. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    Cheaper Younger Option

    WR Marquise Goodwin (25)

    Options

    Acquire: Brandon Marshall

    Yes. Lakeland and winter haven

  38. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    Or

    Options#2

    Acquire: Mik Wallace
    Sign: Marquise Goodwin
    Draft: Zay Jones

WR Mike Evans | Russell Shepard
WR Mike Wallace | Zay Jones
WR Marquise Goodwin | Adam Humphries

  39. LUVMYBUCS Says:

I would dare a team to load up the box

    W/
    Mike Evans
    Mike Wallace
    Marquise Goodwin

In the formation. You could put a running back like say…Samaje Perine in the backfield and eat all day.

  40. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

Desean would be a huge boost to our team. I also like Kenny Stills, Markus Wheaton, and Robert Woods.

Off topic I really hope we get a shot at DE Mario Addison and Safety Johnathan Cyprien. Both would be great pick ups. Throw in Guard Kevin Zeitler, DT Fairley or Alualu, AJ Bouye or Logan Ryan at CB, and OT Beachum. I also like the idea of trying to sign one of Latavius Murray, Christine Michael, or Andre Ellington.

If we cut Martin($7m), Verner ($6m), and George Johnson (2.25m), we could save $15.75m raising our cap to almost $78m allowing most of the aforementioned players. Also, the cap raises 5m in 2018, 17m in 2019, and another 10m ($200m total) in 2020. Allowing us to resign our guys currently on rookie deals over the next couple of years.

  41. Magic Marpet Says:

kobe faker, i thought you died. Never the less, one of your better posts. Minus the self-fellating asterisks. But im all for djax. I think he will bring some much needed swagger and winner mentality. That dude wants to win now, I also want to win now.

  42. kobe Faker Says:

Forget all that thug BS. chip kelley made that up so he wont look like a fool releasing phillys best receiver/playmaker…

Philly fans are begging for djax to comeback…eom

  43. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

    6.5m for Verner*

And DJax hasn’t had an issue in years. He is about winning and that’s it. He knows his chances are limited and Tampa is a few good players away from challenging for titles for the next decade. He may be hood but he is nothing like he was 5 to 8 years ago. Dude can still ball and won’t cost a fortune. Just think about him and Evans on the same side of the field. Evans would be unstoppable with DJax taking the safeties with him and freeing up Evans all day

  44. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Oh $hit! I love it, but no, don’t talk about fight club.

  46. Joeypoppems Says:

I remember when I saw that Dede Westbrook scouting report and how as soon as I saw that they said he had no off the field concerns I closed the tab lol.

  47. Guzzie Says:

Get rid of Chuck the Duck Sims, get Andre Ellington 4year $15 mil/year, him and Quizz plus any drafted back, hopefully Mixon in 3rd but about 7 RBs look like studs, DJax at 4 years $9 million/yr 2 guaranteed plus Robert Woods 4 years at $7 mil/year, draft C Pat Eflein in 2nd to shore up the middle of the line #WALLFORWINSTON, draft best WR available hopefully a speedster like Taywan Taylor or Dede Westbrook, BPA rest of draft, WEAPONSOFMASSDESTRUCTIONFORWINSTON…..of course Licht won’t do any of this, probably take some 3rd round guy from nowhere college no one heard of (Ryan Smith etc), Marpet was well known after the combine

  48. Guzzie Says:

My mistake not $15 million a year I meant 4 years 15 total for Andre Ellington

  49. KingBuc17 Says:

Too risky Jabo….. let Litch work his magic stick to being a leader QB on the field. We need to get someone to grow with you and draft one also.

Stills or Pryor, both young tested SPEED

RD 1 move back 7 spots with Seattle, pick up a 3rd and 7th draft McCaffery RB
Rd 2 Budda Baker S/CB – ronde barber skills
RD 3a Carlos Hernandez WR – best hands in college
RD 3b Ethan Pocic C – plays all over the line
RD 4 Bucky Hodges TE – VT at 6’8′ huge target for JW
