Three Bucs Make All-Pro

January 6th, 2017
All Pro.

All-Pro.

See what happens when the Bucs win?

Today, the 2016 AP NFL All-Pro teams, selected by the Associated Press, of which Pro Football Hall of Fame voter and JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman is a participant, were announced.

The Bucs placed three members. Bucs stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy (attention haters!), linebacker Lavonte David and wide receiver Mike Evans all made the second team All Pro.

Joe wants to congratulate all three. Joe is a tad surprised middle linebacker Kwon Alexander, who finished the season leading the NFL in solo tackles, was not recognized.

Ira’s work is never done!

  1. BuccaneerByBirth Says:

    Mike deserved 1st team

  2. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    GMC (rolling eyes)

    ……yes I am hating

  3. Buc50 Says:

They picked the wrong LB…happy for LVD but he really doesn’t deserve it.

  4. Waterboy Says:

Kwon should’ve definitely made the list.

  5. Dano Says:

Wow they picked the wrong LB. I’m very surprised.

  6. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

Damn! How does GMC make all these pro bowls and all pro teams if he sucks. I have read for months how LVD and GMC suck. Thank god posters on this site dont get to call the shots.

  7. LifeOfABucFan Says:

Kwon should have been on first team..not second or ignored..

  8. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Awesome for GMC and even more awesome for the bucs…econ 101 basic principles says sell sell high buy low….LICHT sell sell sell sell…get another 1st,

and kwon way better year or 2 years than Laloafing David

Evans…should be first team but must be toughest position aside from QB to crank 1st team

  9. Buns Collector Says:

Lavonte is a little surprising, good for him though

  10. 813bucboi Says:

    GO BUCS!!!!

  11. MattSpy05 Says:

So Lavante David loafs too much- Pro Bowl and All Pro

GMC sucks and is overrated- Pro Bowl and All Pro

Get rid of Mike Evans because he sat for two minutes- Pro Bowl and All Pro

If JoeBucsFan commentators ran the Bucs they wouldn’t win a damn game.

  12. Pickgrin Says:

Brian Anger gets shafted. Brent Grimes should at least be 2nd team and Kwon as well.

Congrats to Evans, GMC and LD54 for the recognition…

  13. Bucsfanman Says:

    Congrats guys!
LVD does surprise me when you consider that Kwon was omitted. Great job anyway!

@TDTB- I was thinking the same thing!

  14. Bucsfanman Says:

Good point Pickgrin! Anger should’ve been there as well.

  15. BKNYfootballhead Says:

No way Julio Jones should’ve made 1st-team over Mike Evans when he had double the touchdown totals. ME13 had more receptions, too. Jones had not even 100 more yards in receiving. Seems All-Pro is a popularity contest just like the Pro Bowl.

  16. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

I really do think that LVD plays when he wants to. He just kinda vanishes for long stretches. GMC is less than stellar alot too, but I blame that on all the double teams. Nobody is doubling LVD. And he has missed ALOT of tackles. I like LVD, but they definitely picked the wrong LBer

  17. DB55 Says:

    attention haters!
    ————
Oh the irony! Joe spent all last season calling Evans “KY Hands” and all of this season calling LVD a “loaf” yet has the audacity to call us haters. Hi Pot, I’m kettle.

GMC might be “all world” but he’s still soft as warm butter and a loser! That will never change. And with only 7 sacks and less tackles than his back-up? Wow! Must be nice, that smile does amazing things I tell ya. #WhitePrivilege

  18. DB55 Says:

LVD made splash play after splash play in December. STOP the HATE watch the TAPE!!!

  19. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

Exept the missed tackle on 4 and 1 in the NO game?

  20. Bucsfanman Says:

@DB55- Why does that ruffle your feathers so much? “KY Hands” was an absolutely true statement a year ago and look at LVD’s #s. The “haters” moniker has been well earned by you and a few others who just randomly spout nonsense about ONE particular player’s character when stories aren’t even about them. You should wear the label with pride. You have been persistent in your criticisms, valid or not.

  21. DB55 Says:

Ty Bucs, I’ll take that as a compliment???

  22. DB55 Says:

GOAT and where was GMC on that play? 8 yards away from the ball per usual? Gimme a fckn break.

  23. Bucsfanman Says:

You earned it buddy! I ain’t mad at you!

  24. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    @ DB55
Being double teamed so the LBers are free to make a big play

  25. Hawaiian Buc Says:

If only the All-Pro voters knew as much as DB55.

  26. Hawaiian Buc Says:

“Being double teamed so the LBers are free to make a big play”

    —–

According to our resident expert DB55, in our defense the LB’s eat up blockers for the D-Lineman. He said so himself.

  27. DB55 Says:

Yup yup. Just read all the votes and I obviously don’t know what I’m talkin about, just a fool, these media experts have it on LOCK!

  28. DanTheBucsFan Says:

Evans, Anger, Alexander and Brate would have been my picks, in that order.

  29. DB55 Says:

    *ignorant fool – correction.

  30. Couch Fan Says:

Yes we know GMC is highly respected around the league. That doesnt change the fact he loves to disappear during the most critical times of the season. Great players make great plays during the biggest moments. GMC is proven he’s not that.

  31. Hawaiian Buc Says:

“That doesnt change the fact he loves to disappear during the most critical times of the season. ”

    ——-

Except for those games that he made a critical play to win the game for us, which happened in like 3 games this year. But those other 6 games we won, he did nothing. No TD’s, no interceptions, and no sacks. He’s obviously no good.

  32. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Don’t worry guys, maybe one day there will be some sort of factual evidence to support your claims, that way we won’t have to trust your anonymous comments. Just keep hope alive – it could happen one day!!!

  33. Couch Fan Says:

Being the biggest fan boy you can be doesnt mean your opinion is better than anyone elses. GMC was a no show during the entire month of December. But you are right he had a nice 2 or 3 game stretch where he actually did something. So nice of him.

  34. Stpetebucsfan Says:

    @Pickgrin

Agree completely about Anger and I would have selected Kwon over LVD. A lot of this of course is still based on name recognition and market size even with the “professionals” who vote.

Here’s a question that hasn’t been asked….who is the Bucs MVP.

OK lets toss it out there….#3 is not eligible…he plays the most important position and he played it well enough to be the teams MVP…doesn’t mean he played his position as well as perhaps some others…like Anger played theirs but we all know the team HAS to have #3.

So aside from #3 who is the MVP this year. I think we know Tmax will have a vote for GMC. Joe might take Ayers…Obviously ME is in the running…Kwon?

Again perhaps I should rephrase the question. Accepting that #3 is the MVP because of his position and play….who actually played their position the best of any Buc…..Anger has to be in that chat.

  35. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Its ok DB55,

We all know the Pro Bowl is joke and all it is a popularity contest. Many moons ago when the Pro Bowl actually meant something maybe I’d care…..but now nobody cares except for fans who actually don’t analyze players during the WHOLE NFL SEASON.

GMC to the Probowl???——–what a damn joke!
LVD to the Probowl???——–the man’s been invisible all season long!

The only THREE PLAYERS ON THE BUCS that actually deserve to be there are:

    Bryan Anger
    Kwon Alexander
    Mike Evans

    PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  36. Trubucfan22 Says:

Funny that Ira didnt even vote for 2 of them.

LVD must not too much of a loaf huh joe? He only led the team in turnovers and TFL. HATER.

  37. Lord Cornelius Says:

This shows that name recognition matters even in All Pro voting. These guys aren’t watching tape of the year and then voting imo

Lavonte was a freaking monster towards the end of the year; but he was terrible the first half. SO was the entire D though

  38. Trubucfan22 Says:

The media is as cluesless as most fans. So yes, the all pro team will have some slight discrepancies. But all in all they get it pretty good.

How many outside linebackers are better than LVD? Even in a down year (by LVD standards, he still dominated almost all categories for outside linebackers) he is worthy of the all pro team.

  39. webster Says:

You guys are funny. Many here feel vindicated by mccoy’s selection to the all pro team, but in the same breath question david’s selection? Many of you including joe were wrong all year as it relates david. If you say he only made it due to his reputation, then now maybe you can understand where the mccoy “haters” are coming from. Only buc fans. We have some genius fans lol.

  40. orlbucfan Says:

Well, well, well. Bucs have 2 defensive players voted All-Pro, and one O player voted All-Pro. Defense: GMC and LVD. Offense: ME13. Pretty good for a division bottom feeder last season, and 9-7 this season. We finished 2nd in the NFC So. to Atlanta. Raheem Morris coaching the WRs. Watching the Falcons play is worth it to see what’s going on w/their receivers. I know this is a wish, but will the criticism about GMC/LVD stop?

  41. SOEbuc Says:

GMC and LVD on the same team as ME13?!! WHAT THE FU@K!!! And no Kwon?!! Not that I’m gonna lose any sleep over it, but once again national media continuously paying attention and giving credit to Buc ball.

  42. gotbbucs Says:

I’m sure the voters all watched alot of Bucs games….

  43. LIBuc Says:

I swear LVD has 1 less then stellar season and you all wanna ride him off. The GMC hate is laughable too, ever notice how god awful that Defense gets when hes out? Shame.

  44. LakeLandBuc Says:

Kwon didn’t have a better season than LVD, I don’t know what people here was watching.

  45. Buc50 Says:

Not sure what games you where watching LakeLand but Kwon beasted most of the year. Many times the guy was all over the field making tackles. Many times Kwon talked about the lack of effort on plays and we all thought he was pointing at LVD even if he would never say that personally.

  46. Rod Munch Says:

It only took Mike Smith until week 17 to figure out how to use David and now we’re going to get yet another defensive coordinator. Ugh.

Also David is an all-pro talent but of his season was wasted as Mike Smith didn’t really know how to use him – he didn’t have an all-pro year. However Kwon certainly did and was for the 2 year in a row the best player on that defense.

Meanwhile the McCoy “truthers” are probably throwing themselves off the Skyway right now, but not to worry they won’t be missed.

  47. LakeLandBuc Says:

No 4-3 Linebacker had more or was even close to LVD in TFL or QB hits. LVD had 17 TFL and 8 QB hits, plus 5 sacks and 4 FF. People be looking at the Tackles and Solo Tackles. LVD was blitzing most of the time, so he won’t get that many Tackles. Kwon was getting a lot of Tackles 4-7 yards downfield.

  48. LakeLandBuc Says:

I’m glad that the Voters have football knowledge.

  49. SB with Jameis Says:

I second my bro LakeLandBuc!!!! AND Lol at all the GMC haters and LVD doubters and downtalkers.
This is ALL PRO……….Not a fan based Pro Bowl.
    🙂

  50. Ndog Says:

If anyone watched this team each week and thought LVD was a better player than Kwon then they are just insane. Effort, tackling, coverage AND leadership was all better from Kwon. Apparently being a All Pro is getting like the pro bowl just a popularity contest as GMC on there is a complete joke and this just gives him the license to continue to try when he wants to and play patty cake at the line as he will say “but I was am AllPro”. Ridiculous

  51. LakeLandBuc Says:

Kwon had 17 tackles and 15 solo tackles against the Falcons in Game 1..Here they are…. (14:50 – 1st) D.Freeman right tackle to ATL 20 for 1 yard (K.Alexander).

    (3:41 – 4th) E.Elliott right end to TB 15 for 1 yard (K.Alexander; B.Grimes).

  56. LakeLandBuc Says:

+92 yards. And both games combine he made 38 Tackles and 26 solo Tackles and only 12 tackles were on running plays.

  57. Trubucfan22 Says:

In all pro voting LVD is not going against kwon (who plays a different position) he went against other outside linebackers. Kwon went against other MLB. The competition for MLB is a lot stiffer than at 4-3 OLB.

As long as bobby wagner and luke cheatly are in the league, i doubt kwon will ever be an all pro.

  58. Trubucfan22 Says:

I always hate when the joes or buc fans try to compare and pit our LBs against wach other. Both are damn good players. It doesnt matter which is better, each player has a different job, different strengths, and different weaknesses. Just sit back and enjoy the show, knowing we have to the best LBs in the league.

  59. LargoBuc Says:

Second team sounds about right for Mccoy. He may not have had as many sacks per usual but DT’s typically do alot of different things that may not always show up in a stat line.
I am a little disapointed though that Evans didn’t make it to first team. I thought he had a real shot, especially considering how often he is double covered. While recievers like Julio and Brown see their fair share, they at least have some weapons around them that force defenses to keep it honest to an extent.
As for David, he probably does about as much as can be expected frim a 4-3 OLB.
One player I feel was snubbed was Brent Grimes. 4 ints. 1 for a TD. A league leading 24 passes defensed. Sure he got burnt a few times but I would say the good outweighs the negative for a CB in his thirties.

  60. Kstoges Says:

LVD is still a monster guarantee he has a more consistent year in 2017

  61. Reach87 Says:

A Bucs fan pUtting down a Bucs player when he is recognized by the outside football world is really ridiculous. If you’re a fan of the team you should applaud the award or in the least not spew the negative remarks. Overall, seems petty, less than helpful and pretty much BS. Are you a Bucs fan or what? Go Bucs!

  62. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Here’s what I to say:

    Congrats to all three.

As to the other deserving players…when we make the playoffs an get more National exposure, and more people see how good our other players are. All in good time.

We’re going to surprise a lot of people next year.

  63. Ndog Says:

87 I get your point and normally agree but when this happens I feel it just validates a lack of max effort and undermines players on this team who play harder and with more passion.

  64. Bucsfan951 Says:

3 bucs players get all pro honors and bucs fans complain to each other about who’s wrong and who’s right… You guys all sound like little girls. God, I swear, man. You boys need to grow a pair and grow up. BE HAPPY!!!!

  65. McBuc Says:

You guys also don’t know what LVD is being asked to do, the coaches all who said he is doing everything they ask and is playing great, but you guys don’t believe them because of the tackle stat line… Hilarious
