Derrick Brooks serves up his view from the Bucs sidelines last Sunday.

Mr. Derrick Brooks was on the Buccaneers sidelines Sunday for the Bucs’ drowning of the Seahawks.

And Brooks shared some observations.

Of course, Joe’s talking about Brooks on Tampa-2, his WDAE-AM 620 show with Steve Duemig, the dean of Tampa Bay sports radio.

Brooks walked away impressed.

“I saw them going them through their communication on the sideline and talking about it and seeing it transcend over to the field,” Brooks said. “They were a very confident group. I mean, I’ve seen a dejected group before. But they were confident. I mean, so confident rushing Russell Wilson. I’ve just watched it on TV (laughs), you know, it’s the other way around [usually], Russell is more comfortable feeling the rush.

“They got him out of a comfort zone to rush some decision making and got some hits on him early that obviously paid dividends in the second half.”

A lot of credit for effective and pointed communication was given to Gerald McCoy by Brooks.

Also of note, Brooks is a fan of the Bucs’ rookie defensive end drafted in the second round.

“[Noah] Spence getting off the ball, this kid got some get-off now,” Brooks said. “He has some timing of getting off the football that I liked what I saw with that.”

Exciting times for the Bucs defense. Quite a transformation from when Brooks publicly hammered the defense’s effort a few weeks ago.

When they showed him on the Jumbotron during the game I got goosebumps. Perhaps, the stadium got even louder.

  2. Destinjohnny Says:

Brooks needs to be in the organization

Let’s keep it going. Can’t wait for Sunday.

@Destin you are correct. The Arena Football League is collapsing (literally only a few teams left) Brooks needs to get out while he can. Get back with the Bucs in the front office.

  5. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

    Agreed Destin.

We have a pretty solid LB’s coach. He’s a coach that has been in the league for 20 years. I mean no disrespect but can you imagine D Brooks as LB Coach. There wouldn’t be any questioning anything the man said. They’d be playing their hearts out. Daryl Smith may even be able to beat me in a foot race.

Destin and Nole. Should we start a website… DerrickBrooks4BucPresidentofOperations.com. Ok Needs some work but I fear if it is HireDerrickBrooks.com someone like the Falcons will swoop in and hire him.

DB bleeds red and pewter. I don’t know if he could ever go work for another NFL team. I would hope not, and would love to see him come into the Bucs organization at some point.

  9. McBuc Says:

does anyone else find it humorous that the real DB 55 seems to love GMC, but the poster DB 55 has the complete opposite view?

  10. teacherman777 Says:

    DB55 is an idiot.

The real Derrick Brooks is a warrior-prophet!

  11. JonBuc Says:

Couldn’t agree more with others wanting Brooks in a “presidential” role with the team. Much like Denver has done with Mr. Bronco John Elway.
