The Jameisburg Address

November 20th, 2016
Lavonte David, Cecil Shorts and more talked to Joe about their quarterback's special message.

Lavonte David, Cecil Shorts and more talked to Joe about their quarterback’s special message.

It was a one-page document, a passionate address penned by America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, and taped to the locker of every Buccaneer.

It appeared Wednesday.

Players touched it and read it, and then Jameis delivered it aloud with feeling.

The message resonated throughout the Bucs’ locker room — and the messenger was revered.

Various players talked about the Jameisburg Address in the victorious Bucs locker room this afternoon.

“It meant a lot to me, man. I took the letter home. I read it on the way home,” Lavonte David told Joe. “It showed me how much your teammates mean, should mean. You have to be a family when you’re in this situation. We’re all brothers in this situation. … There’s a lot of accountability among one another on this team.

“It really hit home with us. Jameis made his key points. He expressed how much he loves us and how much he’s grateful for us and coaches to play for a great organization.”

Veteran Cecil Shorts took a playful shot at Jameis’ grammar in the Jameisburg Address, but Shorts was blown away by the effort and the delivery.

“That shows his maturity and his leadership at such a young age,” Shorts said. “That’s kudos [for him]. I’ve never had a quarterback who did that before. He sat there and typed a letter out. Bad English sometimes in the letter (laughing), but I’ll leave that alone. He might need an editor. He got enough money; he can get an editor. He typed it out and put it in everybody’s locker. And the fact that he sat there and read it in front of us. We love the guy, man. You’re always going to play for a quarterback like this.”

Jameis was all fired up in the locker room after today’s game and Buccaneers.com captured some of his speech. The family themes are similar to what players referenced appeared in Jameis’ letter to the team.

Luke Stocker told Joe this Bucs team is different than one’s he’s been on since 2011. He cited the unity, the closeness of players and a locker room that doesn’t see itself as offense and defense. Jameis, he said, is a unifying force for both sides of the ball.

Jameis “puts our vision on one path and not two separate paths,” Stocker said.

Damn that is crazy to hear…..Love the passion. Much respect Mr. Winston! Glad to support you my man. Go Bucs!!! Keep the faith!

  2. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

Great stuff from JW3. win next week and put the league on notice

  3. Broy34 Says:

Where was marcus’ family speech as they got trounced by a bad colts team. This kid is a STUD. Wanted him after his 26-27 4 touchdown 0int debut at FSU. Pronounces it Juh-my-is that’s how new he was. I sat at my fantasy draft and said can I draft him now. If u told me he’d had the bucs playing meaningful December ball for Tampa. I can cry I’m so happy. I believe his inconsistency is due to bad pockets. He has to force throws over lineman sometime and that’s when he inaccurate. The sky is the limit and im scared if he has a top 10 wide receiver crew. He has shorts and shepherd and humphries to go with brate and Evans. And what do u know Evans and brate leading at tds at their poisitions

  4. EA Says:

Yeah definitely a win next week would be huge, an interesting stat i hear during the game today that Jameis hasnt had a game with at least one touchdown since highschool.

  5. EA Says:

    HEY JOE….

  7. grafikdetail Says:

it was the intangibles that made Winston the #1 pick… Mariota is good but I don’t think he brings this team together at all the way winston has… keep in mind these are a bunch of 2nd & 3rd teamers and street free agents playing so well together

  8. Kingcrablegs Says:

Every time I try to leave, stories like this keep pulling me back. This organization sometimes reminds of being in a bad relationship during the holidays, “things just don’t seem so bad.” Then I do something like drive from Houston to Tampa for a game two Thursdays ago. I end up feeling like my love is being taken for granted. 2 wins later all is forgiven. Wanting to believe things are changing,

    Die Hard Bucs Fan

  9. koby kilpatrick Says:

Are you serious rn A-TRAIN? GMC is one of our best players and blows up the pocket. Who tipped the ball to Conte on the INT? Oh yeah it was #93 the best DT in the league and one of our best players. Hop off the hate train dude and comeback when you understand the game of football.

  10. ATLBucsFan Says:

    McCoy haters ALWAYS hate.

  11. AC Says:

Hey it was a gift but GMC also landed on the ball on that last play of the game which was a fumble recovery so he did ahow up in the stat sheet. Ppl hate on GMC way too much! Did we not just win a game noone gave us a chance to win? Hopefully these bad fans are let go with the bad players at the end of the season

  12. SB with Jameis Says:

At this point in our voyage, we as fans should all Rally around the positives that Are happening with our team! I saw plenty today that I wanted to scream at but I saw a WIN of of 7 and 2 team that had won TEN STRAIGHT HOME GAMES!!!!. ……Something we have never done BTW for some of the newer fans.
Point being if you can’t celebrate today’s win, then what can you celebrate?

  13. Mojiska Says:

So a fumble recovery on the final play of a 2 point win? Sounds like a big play on a big moment. And a tipped ball that got picked to hold on to a 2 point play earlier in the 2nd half? 2 big plays in big moments of big games…

  14. ndog Says:

So just a heads up the Bucs win today is nowhere on the front page of NFL.com and I hit load more like 6 times. In addition R Harrison said on Football Night in America that there is no chance we beat Seattle next week. Just a little something to fire our boys up even more for next Sunday.

  15. LakeLandBuc Says:

I have been a Buc fan since the beginning in 1976, this is one their biggest wins in a long time.

  16. clint Says:

He’s going to be a Hall of Fame type player when its said and done

  17. BigBucsFan1208 Says:

Yeah figures. NFL.com hardly posts about the BUCS. It’s only the upset of the week against a team that had won 10 straight at home and 5 straight on the season. BUCS offense dominated that game too in terms of sustaining multiple drives. No one gave them a chance in this game and now no one gives them a chance at home? What happened to any given Sunday? I guess that’s just everyone of these “experts” excuse when something like this happens. Anyways, rant over. Go BUCS! Good luck against Seattle. Family.

  18. Buccfan37 Says:

Yeah, about as big a win as the 3-0 game against KC in the past. About as impactful at this point of the season. Well maybe not to that level. The Bucs team we were waiting to see. Thanks giving fans that win.

  19. Blake_bucsfan Says:

So typical, we win the game against a 7-2 team and the only thing some people want to talk about is GMC not having a great game. Smh.

  20. Warthog Says:

Atrain u a fool. Big win for our Bucs how bout we enjoy It for a few mins before you push your McCoy hate agenda. Take the night off smdh

  21. Buc1987 Says:

    This kid is OUR quarterback.

This is Jameis Winston’s and OUR team.

It’s really simple. There’s no need to knock the kid if he has a bad day.

The kid’s not perfect…yet. The kid’s developing and rather quickly actually.

He really IS a dream come true for every Buc fan. Yet some just can’t see it.

This kid is going to bring back the Lombardi to Tampa and in short order.

The next face of the NFL. Are you ready?

  22. BuccaneEric75 Says:

    I’m ready, 87!

  23. SB with Jameis Says:

My wish is that all us True Bucs Fans rally behind this win and ignore the trolls in every forum. Bucs have won 2 in a row and we have won 4 Road games this yr. Alone in second place in our Division. Mike Evans is sucking for me in FF cause Jameis is spreading the Wealth. I mean ….there is SOOO Much to be happy about guys! How long did it take Lovie to win 5 games??

  24. DB55 Says:

  25. cmurda Says:

GMC tipped the ball that Conte picked off for the play of the game. Too bad GMC didn’t show up on the stat sheet…he just showed up on the winning side of the game thanks to him playing at a high level.

  26. Piratic Says:

Cannot wait to see what Jameis wrote!

  27. Warthog Says:

    Here’s a stat for ya atrain: TB 19 – KC 17

    GO Bucs!!!!!

  28. I'm tired and 87 is right Says:

SB with Jameis I totally agree that us fans need to just rally around the positives and ignore those negative fans. Just as much as we want the Bucs to turn the corner us fans need to do the same. It’s time we turn a new leaf and support these guys and know better days are ahead. Trust in Winston and let’s ride this ship into the Super Bowlfor years to come! Siege the day Tampa Bay! Go Bucs! Keep the faith!

  29. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Hopefully our boy Bennett will be out again next week. Letting him go is one of the things that I’ll never forget.

  30. Jolly Bucs Fan Says:

I would pay money to see what jameis wrote. Jameis’ social and leadership skills truly are UNCANNY.

  31. JD Says:

Get chills watching that… If we make the playoffs this would be a huge deal

  32. SB with Jameis Says:

Amen Tired! If we as fans want the culture to change within us we need to stop arguing and biotching about what ‘isn’t’ happening and develop celebrating an ‘Every Blade of Grass” mentality! We are .500, Alone in 2nd place in the Div. This win was Legit. Good night my friends.

  33. WesTampaBuc Says:

This games a blowout if we score a TD instead of fumble that first drive.

  34. Nacci Says:

Was at the game, Jameis was always the guy closest to the action on every play (on the sideline) and the first one out to great the team. Hail Jameis.

  35. Edward Ross Says:

I’ll tell you what, he may or may not ever be Tom Brady, but I’m sure glad as heck that he’s our quarterback.

  36. ATrain Says:

Really Joe questions everyone on this team and even Conte after a win..

BUT THE GUY WHO IS MAKING SUPERSTAR MONEY GETS A PASS..PLEEASE.

McCoy should be making Sapp type plays for the money he makes.

    TheBEST DT IN THE LEAGUE…HAAAAHAAS.
IM THE ONE WHO NEEDS TO KNOW FOOTBAL HAHA

  37. rhenry Says:

When JW3 speaks, people listen. Reminds me of Muhammad Ali. Dude could be a preacher.

  38. Erik w/ Clean Athletics 'The Kwon Alexander of Bucs Fans' Says:

    I agree with 87, wholeheartedly.

    Jameis is the Truth!

  39. Bucnut2 Says:

It’s nice PR but ONLY matters is JW plays well and we win.

  40. LongSeason Says:

I’m starting to believe in Jameis.
