Why So Much Hate?

October 23rd, 2016

KoetterwhistleYes, Dirk Koetter scores very well in the weekly Dirk Koetter Confidence Poll on JoeBucsFan.com, but his detractors are absolutely out of control.

Joe can’t believe how many fans on social media this evening wanted to fire Koetter when the Bucs trailed 14-0 and were still running the ball and sticking to their ground-and-pound game plan.

All kinds of freakouts were firing at Joe on Twitter. It prompted Joe to Tweet the following at 5:30 p.m.

Joe supposes those looking to fire Koetter are the same bozos who loved Rick Stroud’s Tampa Bay Times story two weeks ago speculating Koetter could be a one-and-done head coach.

Are there that many Bucs fans emotionally shattered by five consecutive losing seasons? Joe can’t think of any other reason for the lunacy, other than lingering outrage by the dwindling Lovie Smith mafia.

Calm down, people, especially in the first quarter of a road game.

There were so called fans, throwing in the towel in the “open thread” !!! All week they have been saying same ole Bucs, in games that they barely lost this year and were blown out in the first half last year!!!!!!

Sweet Sassy Molassy, what a game!!!!!!! and week for the Bucs!!!!

Kudos to the coaches covering up the obvious holes on these rosters!!!!

And now to the sad part!!! Some of the so called buc fans held a commie kaepernick club watch party at an undisclosed popeyes chicken!!! early reports had bighogheinous crying during the third quarter while wearing a kaepernick jersey and wearing a fake afro wig!!!!!!

The Bucs are .500 with 3 wins!!! and this just in from the stat geeks, It took coach my scheme 18 games to win 3!!!! so much the “same ole bucs crowd’!!!!!!!

    Go America

    And GO Bucs!!!!!

  4. Eric Says:

Long bubbled up frustration, over more than five years.

I’ve fallen victim too it myself.

Not fair to Dirk, but nobody ever said head coaching gigs are peaches and cream.

  5. Wombat Says:

I just scrolled and laughed at the game thread today, agreed, so much hate. I wish you could just pin it on each of the cry babies that spilled diarrea all afternoon. I understand passion, but Bucs fans are just down on anything Bucs. I think some fans need to go back and remind themselves of the Culverhouse days…..

  6. Bucsalltheway Says:

Post some real news like for instance the ATl crows who we beat week 1 are 4-3 and we are 3-3 ATl hasn’t had there bye week and we could easily top the division if we keep winning. Oakland is the main focus

  7. Newbucsfan2 Says:

I have no words for so called fans as that who throw in the towel to soon.

  8. MadMax Says:

Lots of game left when I was watching that 14-0….I knew that. Against a trash team too? I knew we had this. Now against a solid team whose up by 14 in the 4th and we’re making stupid decisions and stupid penalties and stupid clock decisions that cost us all game? Thats when I get mad!

Not today though! They hung in there, I hung in there. 4 quarters baby!

  9. iamkingsu Says:

Finally we have a real burner on the roster. Let’s find a way to get Smith more touches!

  10. Joseph Mamma Says:

Extend his contract immediately, we just beat the mighty niner’s.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Laugh of the night right there!

  15. Nick Says:

Let’s be truthful, these are 19-24 year olds who never watched Sapp, Brooks etc, who think the answer is always fire the coach, not realizing it’s the fact we’ve had 4 coaches in 6 seasons is WHY we can’t win. But instead of using internet to improve their football IQ, they act 14 behind their pads and phones.

  16. Nick Says:

Perfect example…Joseph mama makes little of the Bucs win..probably clueless that the Bucs with better teams have lost to far more talentless 9er teams in sanfrancisco.. does jo mama know Bucs were 2-14 vs 49ers since 1977 on the road? Nope just sees two wins over 1 win teams.

  17. lurker Says:

the last coach deserved to go early.

  18. lurker Says:

but 1 one-win team is in our division and in the GAME last year. so there is that.

  19. Joe Says:

Nope just sees two wins over 1 win teams.

So the Bucs should have just laid down and took losses because the records said so? See where you are going here but wins are wins and they did beat a division-leader.

So should the Rams have taken a knee for the Bucs because they were winless when the two teams played?

  20. Defense Rules Says:

Might be missing something Joe, but don’t see THAT many JBF commenters throwing knives at Coach Koetter. Everyone’s happy that we’re 3-3 for sure, but realistically Bucs have only played quality football in 2 out of 6 games. Carolina self-destructed with 4 turnovers, and San Fran contributed 3 turnovers and turned out to be one-dimensional.

Several players stepped up today big-time, and the Bucs will need more of that to have a decent year. Jameis had a great game I thought … 3 TDs and 70% passing, with quite a few of those well down the field (his 1 INT was off a deflection it looked like). Obviously Jacquizz stepped up again, but so did Peyton Barber (12 runs for 84 yds is impressive). ME13 had another huge game (8 catches for 96 yds & 2 TDs … wow), but so was Shep who could well turn out to be our #2 WR after today’s performance (5 catches for 77 yds & 1 TD). Defense played great overall, and today’s win was a total TEAM effort. More of that and Bucs have a decent chance to go 8-8 or maybe even 9-7 on the season.

  21. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Bucnut2? He won’t be seen until Winston starts a game poorly.

  22. JD Says:

Joe they cant be serious? We got something good brewing just watch

  23. LargoBuc Says:

Koetter has done a good job the past two games of coaching to the teams strength/the opponents weakness. He deserves some credit.

  24. ChanEpic Says:

Why the hate? Well I would say more than a decade of putrid drafting, coaching, playing and staying healthy will do that to a fella. 3-3 is glorious and gives us gloomy gus types reason to believe but to act like this coaching staff has done nothing to garner doubt would be disingenuous to say the least. That said, I’m very thankful for this win. It does a lot to REBUILD faith.

  25. Bucs Ace Says:

Jeez…..I really miss Lovie….he’s working his magic at U of Illinois right now…..Ha !!!!!!

  26. cmurda Says:

I’m the first to admit that I’m out of control with my emotions during a game. I know many of us are guilty of it. It’s called being a fan and the ups and downs that go with it. I definitely don’t want Dirk fired. I get frustrated like anybody but he is a good coach and he’s also learning on the fly as a Head Coach in the NFL.

  27. BigStinky Says:

Why is it Koetter’s fault that Jameis forces a ball into double coverage, and gets tipped and picked off, and we go down by 14 points? People also were saying Coach Smith should be fired right away too, probably because Conte got called for the personal foul. There is NO reason why either of those guys should be fired at this point. It is still early in the season. We should easily win as many games as Lovie did last year with a tougher schedule. That alone should get them both another year to coach this team. We have to give them time to turn things around or things will NEVER change. Go BUCS!

  28. IK Says:

    Great coaching today.
They know Kap would implode and running was a good option.
Finding Rodgers was just brilliant as well.

Winston on 3rd down showed why he was drafted so high.

Great cross country win against a garbage team that was desperate.

  29. Jolly Bucs Fan Says:

On top of Jameis haters, where are the GMC haters. Multiple impact plays including a huge sack on a critical play ( either late 3rd or 4th quarter)

[…] Joe can understand why fans were freaking out on Twitter yesterday in the first half wanting Dirk Koetter’s head on a platter. Well, sort of. They fully expected the Bucs to […]

  31. orlbucfan Says:

I put my headphones on and picked up the game with the score 14-0. Scribbled a comment on the JBF game thread, and then said–c’mon, Tampa Bay!! Sure enuff, things started to turn around. DK is building a for-real offense here. He is also getting his HC legs under him. Now, let’s start winning some home games, fellas. And please, cool it with the HC musical chairs!!!

  32. D-Rome Says:

On top of Jameis haters, where are the GMC haters. Multiple impact plays including a huge sack on a critical play ( either late 3rd or 4th quarter)

It’s silly when people claim McCoy doesn’t make any splash plays as if DTs all over the NFL are regularly making splash plays. McCoy’s numbers are comparable to both Suh and Donald and that’s with two less games played. The defensive line looked very different with McCoy in there. I wish people would accept he’s a top 5 DT in the NFL.

  33. DislocatedBucsFan Says:

Problem is that he is a top 5 DT “when” he is on the field. Which is not enough. He played one hell of a game yesterday and I will tip my hat to him and the rest of the guys. Lovie deserved to go after a last year. Dirk has the team in the right direction. If we miss the playoffs it shouldn’t be by much. We will definitely get there next year after a halfway decent draft and free agency. Plus year 2 in the systems for both sides of the ball. Unrelated, but I hope smith sticks around.

  34. anthony r Says:

Joe cracks me up. I’m not sure anyone pats themselves on the back more.

  35. RustyRhino Says:

This is why I am so very blessed to have give up the “twitter”.

We can never build a culture without letting the coach in charge, plant seeds in an already growing field he inherited with his own culture. Toil at them daily weekly, monthly, yearly. It takes time that means there might be some rotten apples and sour lemons, old growth that need pruning. And replaced with new seedlings or just a few better seeds. Again more time, time the fans and media outlets do not want to wait for. They want INSTANT successful results. Those results do not just grow on trees. Those results become part of your culture by blood, sweat, and tears from all who toil in those fields. Coaches, Players & Fans
    Go Bucs!
