Donteea Dye Waived

October 22nd, 2016
Off to Canada?

Off to Canada?

Well, that was quick.

Earlier this week, the Bucs re-signed misplaced Calgary Stampeder Donteea Dye to fill the void left in the wake of Vincent Jackson being placed on injured reserve.

However, it was announced that Dye would not suit up for the Bucs tomorrow at San Francisco as he was out of shape. Now, Dye is not just out of shape, but out of a job, again.

The Bucs waived him this afternoon. Freddie Martino was elevated to the 53-man roster.

Previously, Martino was entertaining fans in the trendy lounge of the Vero Beach Ramada Inn with classic tunes from Tom Jones, replete with a cognac glass near his organ for tips from generous patrons.

  2. Joe Says:

A smoke in one hand, tuxedo jacket on

    Yup!!! 🙂

  3. EA Says:

This WR situation keeps getting weirder, Most fans and media members saw this coming last off season.

  4. tmaxcon Says:

no excuse for not being in shape when you are out of work and looking for work. What a dumb arse.

  5. Mike Johnson Says:

Well, I gotta say one good things for our new Bucs..At least Koetter and Company are not hesitant to cut..dead nonproductive weight. Good for him. Yes Mike Johnson is applauding Koetters decision! Next man up!

  6. Kobe Faker Says:

Does the Glazers pay for all these signing and waiving these players nonstop

I was half joking wheh i call koetter “the clown”, yikes, maybe i shouldn’t…1 buc place is a circus!

  7. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I kind of suspected he would not last long. Truthfully, I don’t think Freddie will either.

  8. gregfromorlando Says:

and still the unpolished bohringer is sitting on the vikings practice squad.
why not give the guy a shot?
at least we could see how far he is and how quick he learns.

  9. LovieBall Says:

Jason Licht is inept. Why even sign him in the first place? Why did you get rid of Butler?

  10. CT Bucs Says:

Where can I get a Freddie Martino jersey?

  11. Dewey Selmon Says:

And Jeremy Butler is getting ready to start for the Jets.

  12. Kobe Faker Says:

I think your good cause dd and freddie are alternating the same number and actually the exact same uniform, helmet and jockstrap.

With all these injuries i believe jason gump is going to pump up the team tommorrow with a surprise…dont be surprised we bring our own sidecar bob, kenny bell running out of the tunnel

    Americas kenny bell

  13. Brian Says:

The guy has been nursing his hammy this whole time and wasnt ready for a game.. had to waive someone to get another WR on the active. You people are relentless. Wow.

  14. Conor Says:

Everybody needs to chill out DD will be back next week. Freddy is just the temporary option then he will go back to the practice squad. Lazy reporting Joe it’s all over twitter that’s the plan.

  15. 911bucs Says:

Exactly why even sign him without having a workout. Starting to put 2 and 2 together for this organization for poor unhealthy signings.

  16. R.O. Says:

Give me a break.. not nearly as bad at the Packers RB situation… get over it.

  17. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Says:

It really is too bad about Donteea Dye being out of shape. He brings real speed to the table, something Tampa has not had in quite awhile.

  18. Buc1987 Says:

    You’re a sick man Joe.

  19. SB with Jameis Says:

I am not going to Completely agree with ’87. But carry on Joe.

  20. Harry in Costa Rica Says:

“…DD will be back next week..” I read that too, and I don’t get it.

“out of shape” = doesn’t love football. Isn’t that one of Licht’s criteria for picking players? If he loves football, how does a WR get “out of shape”? And don’t give me that ‘not in “Football Shape” crap. He is not a running back taking a pounding, he is a WR who just has to run fast (which he does) and catch the ball (which he doesn’t)

  21. Kobe Faker Says:

    From hero to zero

  22. Espo Says:

Bohringer isn’t on an active roster for a reason. Correct me if I’m wrong, but if we sign him that means he’d have to take a spot on our 53 man roster right? Just because his background is intriguing or you saw a couple YouTube videos doesn’t mean he can help us.

  23. Lord Corn Says:

    Lmao

  24. cometowin2 Says:

Bohringer has almost identical mesurables to Vincent Jackson as a roolie when he came out. I would certainly try him over Martino. He not only has VJ’s size he has the speed we are looking for. I had thought we were going after him in the 6th when the Vikes snabbed him but I think if we were we certainly would of brought him in by now. He will be a star at some point.Who better to mentor him than VJax?

  25. clint Says:

It is moves like this that the Bucs make; that the good franchises do not, and you realize we are never going to turn this around. You can’t win a 18 round fight without a plan.

  26. Joe Says:

I think your good cause dd and freddie are alternating the same number and actually the exact same uniform, helmet and jockstrap.

    Ha!
