Rams 37, Buccaneers 32

September 25th, 2016

Meet your 1-2 Buccaneers.

Today wasn’t sexy at all. Quite an ugly look for the home-opener.

Two missed kicks, two turnovers, no running game for Tampa Bay, sloppy tackling. Sloppy execution on the critical final drive.

The impotent Rams, a team that hadn’t scored a touchdown all year, chewed up the Bucs for 24 points through the first three quarters. Even the Bucs notching their first two turnovers of the season couldn’t slow mighty Los Angeles and Case Keenum, including a Kwon Alexander pick-6. The Bucs’ lack of a pass rush was glaring and the run defense wore down in the second half.

Thanks in part to those Aguayo misses, an extra point and a 41-yard field goal, Bucs faithful are now crying in their beers, humiliated again in the Den of Depression.

Tampa Bay has now lost five consecutive years to Rams teams quarterbacked by Sam Bradford, Kellen Clemens, Austin Davis and Case Keenum twice.

What’s going to stop this mess?

Joe detailed that yesterday. It’s time for America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, to step up and stop the bleeding like franchise quarterbacks do. The Bucs simply have to find a way to win one of their next two games — against undefeated Broncos and the 1-2 Panthers on Oct. 10.

Stick with Joe for plenty of locker room stuff and more after the game, including Hall of Fame voter and JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman and his 10 takeaway from today’s action.

A franchise QB, a QB who is truly America’s QB, would have thrown the ball with the game on the line. WTF was that?

  2. This Guy Right Here Says:

    AGUYAO, GO FCUK YOURSELF!

  3. Destinjohnny Says:

Winston has the whole package except for accuracy

  7. dislocatedbucsfan Says:

ugly… The aguyao pick is really starting to look like it was a bad choice… Man that was crappy.

  8. Rojas Says:

Had a chance to win the game at the end but he kept forcing passes to Jackson, an what the hell was he doing at the end?

  9. COBucs Says:

Depression has set in for the rest of the season. I love the bucs, but man year after year after year. Time to crawl in the bed and cry myself to sleep.

  10. The Dom is gone... Licht??? Says:

We win today with Conner Barth…. Great way to draft pick Licht!!

  11. rrsrq Says:

WTH was that, terrible clock management, how do you have time outs left. How do you not just throw the ball up. How do you draft a kicker in the 2nd round. How do you…

  12. Ray Rice Says:

    FUKN disgrace

  13. Simeon97 Says:

We play the SUPERBOWL teams from last year in the next two games.

  14. dislocatedbucsfan Says:

    We need safties… Badly!

  15. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Tell the truth, Joe. You had this post ready an hour ago. lol

  16. TheRealDrew Says:

Bad clock management at the end. Should have taken timeout in the 30 second area. Mediocre team.

  17. BuccaneEric75 Says:

    Why didn’t he RUN????!!! WOW!!

  18. Simpleasthat Says:

Not sure why they didn’t call a time out earlier?

  19. Buccfan37 Says:

Poor clock and timeout management by the Bucs down the stretch. 1-9 against Fisher just freaking pathetic.

  20. stevek Says:

What in the ever loving hell just happened? Winston didn’t even throw the damn ball.

Glennon can at least throw the ball or have it fly backwards out of his hand on an attempt to throw. Good lord, an hour plus weather delay to watch it come down to NO THROW ATTEMPT.

America’s QB? More like America’s RB Geeez.

  21. iamkingsu Says:

What happened why didn’t we been use one of our timeouts?? I’m not watching but I saw joe say get out of bounds I’m assuming we were out of timeouts??

  22. Jeagan1999 Says:

    AAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHH!

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers…..finding creative ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory!

  23. sho nuff Says:

wtf was that…if you’re gonna run…RUN!!!….did he think everybody was buying he was going to pass 8 yards past scrimmage?…what’s new another intellectually challenged loss….

  24. iamkingsu Says:

What happened why didn’t we been use one of our timeouts?? I’m not watching but I saw joe say get out of bounds I’m assuming we were out of timeouts

  25. LargoBuc Says:

That final play was awful. Jameis, what the hell? You get your chance and that’s what you give us? You were looking for a receiver a good five yards past the los! This entire fking team is inept. They just are not good enough.

  26. Supersam Says:

Is it to late to late call Lovie Smith back?… this team is bad. Our best player is our punter. Blame the kicker all u want, but if Winston doesn’t hang Sims out to dry on the interception we win the game.

  27. Mike Johnson Says:

Sorry outing by the Bucs. PITYFUL!! How is it that a team who does not, cannot score a touchdown all season, come into YOUR HOUSE..and score TD’s in Bunches? I thought this so called new imaged Koetter regime with DC Smith was suppose to be the answer. Well grab some wood you Buc Cheerleaders you got plenty more losses coming from where this one came from. Hell, Lovie Smith Defenses looked better than this Sh..!! Get ready for a loss to Denver. They are better than the Rams.
    SOB’s (same ole Bucs baby)

  28. Rob Says:

The Annointed One eats the ball with the game on the line. Nice job America’s qb. And our kicker absolutely SUCKS. Season over. We may lose 10 straight

  29. HICKERBILLY Says:

CUT AGUAYO NOW. THIS TEAM IS EMBARRASSING. If he makes the kicks we would have kicked a FG to win the game. I HOPE THEY RIDE HIS @SS IN THE LOCKER ROOM

  30. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Well, I’m not worried. I expected 1-4 before the bye week anyway. I imagine many here are feeling it because many fans had expectations that were a stretch.

    I feel for you.

But don’t give up on the season. Week 6 is when our real season starts.

  31. Gencoimports Says:

Not that this would have mattered, but why does the frigging clock operator runs off an additional second off the clock after the play was clearly over? It happened 3 times on that last drive.

That said, the Bucs had poor clock management, they should have used that 2nd timeout after the Sims catch and run.

  32. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

And don’t cut AGUAYO. Be patient, even if the fans are not.

  33. Ndog Says:

I am done I am cancelling my season tickets tomorrow after 16 years I am 100% done with these f*ckers!

  34. Supersam Says:

I’m not sure Winston is the guy, the turnovers, the final play ugh. Half run half throw all sack? Lol. I’m so sick of this team.

  35. TheRealDrew Says:

The Oberto pick has set this team back even further.

  36. stevek Says:

You can’t win the game with a last second touchdown catch if your quarterback doesn’t throw the stinking ball.

  37. BucscsQcCity Says:

We still need talent.. WR, RB, TE, Safeties, DE..

    Aguayo is broken right now.

Mike Smith has a lot of work to do but I have hopes he turn it around…

  38. Tampabaybucfan Says:

What was that last play?……..you have to throw the ball in the end zone…..no matter what the coverage.

We lost that game because of several things…..not just the kicker but that hurt….
A terrible penalty on 3rd & long……2 very unfortunate turnovers…..giving up too many big plays.
Our defense is soft…..we had very little pass rush again.

  39. TheRealDrew Says:

Would rather have the beef jerky.

  40. BucfaninMi Says:

    Guess Doug Williams was right.

  41. Greg Says:

A safety in the 2nd round this year doesn’t sound to bad now does it

  42. dmatt Says:

We had the opportunity to get some help at wr instead pick a high school kicker. Connor Barth missed one extra point in 7 years n we let him go for this joker. VJ is awful dropped a pass at the 4 yard line that would’ve gave us a better chance to pull it out. Please let’s cut ties with him. How is it each week opponents receivers r left wide open.Sims again caused a turnover. I didn’t understand that last play by Jameis…what was he thinking?

  43. FlumundaCheese Says:

Love folks blaming jameis for this. How about we start with donovan smith, the pass rush, safeties, kickers and work our way back to jameis.

  44. Tackleblockwin Says:

Our O is close to being very good. Unfortunately our D has a ways to go before being average. Didn’t care for clock management either…I guess they were trying to keep Rams D off balance. Winston missed some throws there at the end.

  45. Buc fan from argentina Says:

I hate Martin Gramatica that made fan of this team 16 years ago!!!!!!!!

  46. Buc fan from argentina Says:

    Made me fan

  47. iamkingsu Says:

Wtf do we have 6’5 Receivers for throw the d@min the air up to Evans. It ain’t that d@mn difficult. They’re are not going to get open down there just throw the friggin ball up

  48. bennybucs Says:

    SMH

  49. Stpetebucsfan Says:

Today was nauseating. Last week not a lot better. Still we’re not that far.

I don’t want to whine and make excuses but the ball does bounce funny.]

Aguayo needs to pull a hammy and give us a chance to get a kicker who doesn’t choke and a great sports shrink to rehab Aguayo’s weak mind.

We lost two DE’s counted on applying pressure and yes the rush was inadequate.
We lost our star running back…and Sims played well IMO but he’s not enough.
Rodgers was ok but not Martin.

But what is really starting to stand out to me are 21 of the points and #3’s “turnovers”. What are the odds that a ball is tipped, or a great tackle blows up the receiver just as he’s catching it..and the ball bounces both times to the D for a pick six or turnover setting up seven.

How many times is a DL going to get through at the very last second and hit a ball which of course bounces where…right to another defender with a clear run to six.

I’m not saying we didn’t deserve to lose. Just pointing out the scores have not really resembled what went on out there. Football is a game of inches and micro seconds and bounces….all three have gone against the Bucs.

As far as Smitty’s defense…they’ve looked good except for giving up waay too many big plays….so pick your poison..conservative Lovie and the death of a 1000 cuts…just give up the short stuff and keep everybody in a prevent mode.

Smitty is aggressive and he’s exposed our weakness at S.

  50. Hck61 Says:

Get a time out ! Timeout dummy, timeout !

  51. Bob Says:

And the Glazers laugh all the way to the bank.

  52. Tbbucs3 Says:

Supersam- Winston is our guy accept it already, he threw for 400 yards and put the team in a position to win after the D crapped all over the field. Get over your mariota man crush cause he’s been playing like crap all season.

  53. TheRealDrew Says:

Defense and special teams are always bad on this team, and the offense likes to join in sometimes too. No hope.

  54. Louis Friend Says:

I predicted we’d lose this game. But not this way. As a football fan this is soul-crushing. Inept is the only word I can think of to describe the clock management on that last drive. They had more than enough to win with 2 timeouts, and they screwed it up. That loss is going to go down on Koetter’s Bucs tombstone whenever they eventually fire him (all coaches do get fired at some point, except Belichick)

  55. Simpleasthat Says:

I’ll be pleasantly surprised if we don’t lose the nest 2 games!

  56. Bob in Valrico Says:

two timeouts =two more plays. VJAX all alone drop! Winston too afraid to make a mistake, too many checkdowns ,takes the explosiveness out of the offense.

  57. MadMax Says:

4-5 wins……and please for the love of God draft a safety 1st round!!!!!!!

  58. Issic Haggins Says:

I said it before the game and I’m saying it after the game!!! there is no running game !!! Licht and Koetter getting sucked into the we must defend ourselves talk / decisions , but they said otherwise !!! ( they were wrong) !!! Jameis continues to act rushed, when not , and continues to throw high again and again and again (closed foot work and too short a motion ) . Jameis must extend a bit , he will be much better extending a bit. Heck his numbers aren’t bad now but his game is being limited and he is behind his throws not on top of them and that continues to be a problem !!!!!!! At least 6 times this game and it will be again next game high balls killed the play .Koetter tried to use Sims as a TB but as I f ing said ! in the end he doesn’t believe he has a T Back nor does he believe in his running game . Why was the the throw to Sims picked , because that is replacing the running game and for two games in a row a short dangerous passing game did what short dangerous passing games do , they FAIL !!! And again as I said in advance it failed, sorry but True !! Think About It !!!

  59. Greg Says:

Trade kicker for worst safety on Patriots

  60. Bob in Valrico Says:

sorry coach, but you were not aggressive at critical times.
didn’t like the playcalling when we were up by 10.But you could of and should have won.No sideline passes to conserve clock. No Timeouts to give us more plays. Dumpoff passes ate up the clock. would have been ok if we scored butr we didn’t.

  61. Jeagan1999 Says:

I said at the beginning of the season I’d be “thrilled” with a 9-7 season. Now I’d simply be flabbergasted if we got anywhere near 9 wins this season. The simple truth is we have a few good weapons on both offense and defense, but we lack speed at WR, power at DE and our Safeties are non-existent! And Jameis is still just a second year player who is going to make mistakes as often as he makes big plays. V-Jax looks 10 years older than he did last year. And I won’t even comment on our “Kicker”….except to say that he may have to enter a federal witness relocation program to escape the “Worst Draft Pick In History” tag that is barreling his way!

So where do we stand? In the same perpetual “rebuilding” mode we’ve been in now for nigh the last decade, as the curse of Chucky continues. While we have gotten better in some areas, we have gotten maddeningly worse in others.

First thing tomorrow, sign a kicker and sit the kid until he gets his head out of his *ss. Start scouring the waiver wires for WR/DE and Safety help. Koetter needs to make some changes……quickly!

  62. D-Rome Says:

This defense has given up more points through 3 games this season than the first 3 in 2014 and 2015.

Anyone have any more quotes from Mike Smith’s book?

  63. Mike Johnson Says:

Don’t blame anybody but KOETTER. Hell, you guys blamed Lovie for all of Tampa’s woes now didn’t you? Face the music KOETTER. We will not let you have an out. And Just..us for all!!

  64. Ana Says:

Curse, smurse! How about the D ( except 58 and he can’t REALLY be everywhere) shows up to play! Or are they really that bad?

  65. LakeLandBuc Says:

We can look forward to a Top-5 pick next season, I hope INCOMPETENT Jason Licht don’t trade our 2nd and 3rd round pick to move up and draft a center. It’s not looking good for these DELUSIONAL fans on this site.
