Demanding tempo

Interesting stuff from Dirk Koetter at his postgame news conference.

The playcaller/head coach talked about how the Bucs were again successful on offense this week when they went to an up-tempo/no-huddle groove early in the game.

Koetter referenced not only how comfortable Jameis is in it, but how much offensive linemen love it. He explained that tonight’s starting right guard, veteran Evan Smith, came off the field following an up-tempo series barking, “Stay in it! Stay in it!”

So now Koetter’s challenge is figuring out when exactly to go to the no-huddle in 15 days — in Atlanta during the season-opener. Of course, the psycho-loud Georgia Dome is a tough place for a visiting offense to dictate the pace of a game.

If Atlanta isn’t pumping in illegal noise maybe it won’t be so hard.

ATL is A very winnable game. We gotta hit hard!! And knock some teeth around. However..if we lose that game?..Its gonna be tough from there on. MARK.. my words….the AZ Cardinals are comin at us. Can we win? Sure we can. But Jameis gotta play like he did tonight..and beyond. WORDUP!!

I love the fact that we went no huddle so much in the preseason. That forces Atlanta to have to spend a ton of time preparing for it. I have a feeling Koetter has a lot more up his sleeves for the dirty birds.

Jameis and Kwon are the type of players to Step it up and go to the next level once the crowd really gets into it wether it’s cheers or boo’s … I went to that game last year really great experience

I’ll be at the game cheering on the Bucs! It’s a winnable game.

Glad to see Evan Smith is buying into the possibility of this team being a legit contender. Coming from green bay playing with Aaron Roders and Co. , you can imagine it would be hard to get emotionally engaged and fired up on a team where yo know there was no hope. This speaks volumes to where this team is headed. Didnt care for EDS SO much when he was unwilling to acknowledge Jameis by his first name, but hes clearly on board with this team and its future now. Im excited as Ive EVER been to be a bucs fan. It will be worth the long wait and all the losers that jumped ship when he was drafted van kick rocks. GO BUCS BABY!!!

I have seen Evans do some very good run blocking, and we didn’t seem to be hurt with him not at center last night.Personally ,I wonder if he might be better at guard.

hats off to Koetter for listening to his team and going with what they suggested.Welcome change to the stubbornness of Lovie.
