“Kick The Damn Ball!”

National insider weighs in

Bucs fans seeing red flags flapping in the wind and hearing alarm bells clanging in their heads over the major yips of rookie kicker Roberto Aguayo have every reason to be on the verge of panic.

That’s the word from the co-host of “Movin the Chains,” Pat Kirwan, heard exclusively on SiriusXM NFL Radio. Broadcasting yesterday with Jim Miller, Kirwan, a former Bucs scout who also logged time as a linebackers coach and pro personnel director of the Jets, believes Tampa Bay is in a precarious situation.

Kirwan is of the mind Aguayo cannot be coddled and the wrong move by the Bucs with their second-round draft pick could send Aguayo into an unrepairable mental state.

Oh please. You don’t forget how to kick all of a sudden. Especially when you were perfect in college. This was bound to happen eventually cause you knew he had to miss and it just sent him into shock because it happened on the 1st kick. Give him time and he will be fine. I’m not gonna pannick or Boo him like some of our great season ticket holders. Like thats gonna help his mindset.

I’m so happy I got may daily dose of Aguayo woes early…….

As for the commentary…..he is absolutely right…..we’re not getting another kickier and “just kick the ball”

I agree, you have a point, but kickers are kinda like golfers and pitchers in baseball. When their confidence is shot, sometimes they recover and sometimes they don’t. Look at what happened with Grammatica. He was money for quite a while, and then he just fell off a cliff. It happens. I also won’t be booing him either, but he needs to get off the schneid and make some kicks. Just making a few through the uprights will do wonders for his confidence. If not, we could have a Kyle Brindza that we can’t get rid of.

  4. "The kevin" Says:

Well he better figure it out real quick or he will be gone before the season is even over he misses when it counts.

I don’t care about his poor little fragile mindset. Buck up strap on your boots like a man and kick the ball through the uprights or find another line of work that will coddle your poor little fragile mind.

    Kickers sheesh.

  5. Dick Butkiss Says:

I was right! Joe can’t go a day without writing a meaningless article on Aguayo. BREAKING: THIS JUST IN, there are other players on the Buc’s roster besides a kicker!

  6. PanthersSuck! Says:

    Just tap it in.

    Dick:

If you don’t think this is a significant issue, or that fans care more about, oh, Ryan Smith, you are in LaLa land.

  8. ShutTheBucUp Says:

I’m sure the suits at one buc are wishing they had that draft pick back right about now… Idiotic waste of a pick. There is a reason the entire nation was laughing at us for it.

  9. 911bucs Says:

instead of fans booing him this early, they could “hit him with the heeeein” or give him a baba boey shout out. That will make his day and the ball will find the uprights.

  10. head ball coach dirk Says:

All I think of now is bobby Boucher and his daddy Roberto

  11. Buccfan37 Says:

Anybody booing Aguayo for a missed FG gets booted from home games. Then again that could empty the stadium.

  12. Buccfan37 Says:

Kicking woes are overrated. I mean a kicker, come on.

  13. America's Commenter Says:

If Aguayo is rattled by the pressure of kicks early in pre-season games, how is he possibly going to handle the pressure of a potentially game winning kick in the playoffs? The Bucs have enough mentally weak players in Lavonte David, Gerald McCoy, ASJ, and Mike Evans. The last thing they need is a fragile kicker. Licht stepped in it with this player.

  14. LakeLandBuc Says:

When Jason Licht made the pick, I wanted to weep like a baby. I knew for sure that he had traded up for Vonn Bell. When Roberto Aguayo name was mention, I had a mental breakdown. The fans frustration has more to do with the fact that we traded up for a kicker, instead of drafting a WR or Safety. If Aguayo nail every kick, fans will still have an issue with the pick. We had the 13th most accurate kicker in the NFL on our roster ( Connor Barth ). I thought that the Placekicker position were one of our least need. Oh well, you can’t cry over spill milk.

  15. LakeLandBuc Says:

13th most accurate kicker in NFL history

  16. Happy Gilmore Says:

    Find your home ball!!!

  17. Buccfan37 Says:

Let a pinch of air out of the ball in a whistling maneuver for good luck kicking.
