Bucs fans are rightfully fantasizing today about the Vernon Hargreaves becoming the next Darrelle Revis.

And the extra good news is Tampa Bay won’t cut him after his first Bucs season, like they did to Revis.

Hargreaves’ two interceptions of Chad Henne last night in the Bucs-Jags preseason game were special. Everyone could see it. These weren’t like many picks, which have a high degree of luck attached to them.

Hargreaves made these takeaways happen, noted Dirk Koetter on the Buccaneers Radio Network.

“The thing that’s exciting there is both of those were just tough catches,” Koetter said. “A lot of times [defensive backs], you know the one play, just the fact that he was up in the air so much. And the second one, I mean, if any of our wideouts were making that catch we’d be thrilled.”

Koetter added that Hargreaves showed he plays big for his size and likened him again to Brent Grimes, who had his own acrobatic heroics in the form a pass breakup last night.

What a cornerbacks upgrade it will be if Grimes and Hargreaves can simply have solid seasons.

    @Joe
    And the Bucs only had to use the 11th overall pick in the 2016 draft!!! Not a 9th overall and a 4th round pick in 2013 when the popstar got fleeced!!!!!

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    They will stop throwing in his direction……VH3 is a really good Buc, player from Tampa who wanted to be a Buc…..good representative of the Bucs in the community…..suspect he is great in the locker room and hope he continues to be great on the field.

  3. BucinJAX Says:

    Gonna be a thrilling season.

  4. BigHogHaynes Says:

    Realist you mean the exact same way Licht gave up two picks to move back into the second round to pic up a (can’t stomach to say his name ) kicker! That’s what you get for being a BACK/STABBER! I see this guy missing game winning field goals in my sleep!!

  5. The Buc Realist Says:

    @BigHogHeinous

    a 1st and a 4th pick is a little different then a 3rd and 4th!!! (Usually I would not explain this, but I did recommend that you ask as many questions about football as you can!!)

    Also, I would wait until Roberto Aguayo plays in an NFL Game first before you stop saying someone’s name and having bad dreams!!!! Maybe he does not know how to say “laces out” in English yet!!!!

  6. BuccaneEric75 Says:

    BigHog, you keep calling Licht a back stabber. What is Licht supposed to say when the Glazers tell him that Lovie is going to be fired? “No, keep him. Fire me instead”? Come on, man. Get real.

  7. Mojiska Says:

    If lovie getting fired was such a travesty, why did he get no calls for another head coaching gig in the NFL? He may have been a good coach in the past, but his 3 pillars of excellence, defense, turnovers and no penalties actually continued to get worse the longer he coached the team. It wasn’t the losing, it was how we were losing that proveday his ineptitude.

  8. phreakybucfan Says:

    VH: love the instincts. As for Roberto, I think he just needs time to develop chemistry with his holder. Simple physics, the ball being tilted 1 inch the wrong way probably makes difference of a couple of feet at the goalposts (the longer the kick the more difference). Also, wasn’t the normal long snapper out? Might have made a difference as well. With that being said, make the damn kick.

  9. The Other Side of the Coin Says:

    “The thing that’s exciting there is both of those were just tough catches,” Koetter said.

    And if one had just been tipped Joe would have been saying he dropped another one right in his hands.

  10. BigPoppaBuc Says:

    The negative talk on him this summer was his size… He looks fine. He’s actually king of a thick build and every bit as big as Revis.

  11. Buc1987 Says:

    They sure do like their small DB’s don’t they?

  12. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Buc1987

    Its only because they want the “Dunkaneers” too look extra tall!!!!!

  13. PRBucFan Says:

    Funny to me you were down on him lol

  14. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    I don’t care if the CBs are 4’9″…..if they can cover & jump, tackle and catch….I’m in!!!

  15. Brent bull/buc Says:

    Verner looked rough though.

  16. LifeOfABucFan Says:

    Agree with phreakybucfan..and exactly TBBF..lol…and if Grimes keeps jumping up like that, someone needs to question if he’s human..30 plus years old and woozah..

  17. The Buc Realist Says:

    Tampabaybucfan brought up a great point, are they the smallest DB squad in the league???? Do we have to come up with a stupid nickname like some did with the Dunkaneers??? Should we start that process???

    Micro-neers, runt-aneers, shrimp-aneers, petite-aneers????

  18. LargoBuc Says:

    Licht a backstabber?

  19. Buc1987 Says:

    Mouseketeers…

  20. BuccaneEric75 Says:

    Largo, BigHog thinks that Licht back stabbed Lovie cause he hired Licht and got fired and Licht is still here. The Glazers wanted Lovie gone, not Licht.

  21. BigHogHaynes Says:

    TheBucRealist: I must agree that it is a little different but the overall premise is exactly the same, any questions! (cordones cabo) laces out my friend! Should we wait untill the bullets are flying before we dump his high priced ass, but it won’t happen because even a BACK/STABBER has pride and a lot of it!

  22. BigHogHaynes Says:

    BE/75: you believe what you will, and I will do the same!

  23. The Buc Realist Says:

    @BigHogHeinous

    There are only 2 options, He makes all the kicks and goes into the season with confidence, or he keeps missing kicks and right before the season he gets a “mysterious” leg injury and goes on IR for the year and the Bucs then bring in a free agent kicker!!!!!

  24. DemBoyzFromDaBay727 Says:

    Don’t see or hear non of the ppl now who were criticising this pick when we made it, or the FSU fans that luv to hate on the great UF. Preached it over n over again, this kid has a knack for the ball and makes plays. Period. Wich is exactly what this team needed. He’s gonna be a great player for this franchise for a very long time. Btw I love the athleticism of both Grimes and VH3. Two rather small guys that can get up in a hurry. Wouldn’t be suprised if VH3 pushes his way into the starting lineup and teams up with Grimes on the outside with Verner playing nickel.

  25. 813bucboi Says:

    i’ll admit, I thought picking Robert was needed but not at the price of a second round pick….thought we should’ve got tyler boyd….after attending 4 tc practices watching him miss at least 2 in each practice and now in back to back preseason games he’s missing extra points and field goals, im starting to worry…if’s he’s nervous during a preseason game that half full I can only imagine what would happen on the road with a full house….so far, it looks like licht has made at least 2 mistakes this offseason(sweezy&robert)….GO BUCS!!!!

  26. Mike Johnson Says:

    This kid will be starting before long. Some players are great practice players. And some are gametime ballers. Hargreaves falls in the latter. He’s what we use to call a..Ball hawk. I see great thing on the horizons for this kid.
