  1. Cobraboy Says:

    It happens every year: by this time in the pre-season many guys are physically, mentally and emotionally fatigued.

    Typical.

    The 3rd PS game is seeing the end of the tunnel. The top players get the 4th PS off and then 10 days rest before the 1st regular season game.

    Not too concerned at this point. Except for Aguayo.

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Passion is in the eye of the beholder….and team passion is on Koetter….

    I would say that many of our players don’t display a great deal of passion……Martin, Sims, GMC….and, some of those who do….we ask to contain….like Kwon, ME13 & ASJ.

    I will sacrifice some passion for some points…..

  3. Cobraboy Says:

    Wasn’t Evans asked to exhibit less passion?

  4. Defense Rules Says:

    Ira dished out a couple of very interesting quotes when talking about the media influence in the Roberto Aguayo situation: “Blood in the water for the media” and “Everything is now fair game”. I have no doubts that he’s right … but it’s still sad. Bucs haven’t even played a single REAL game yet, and already it sounds like lots of folks are close to writing Roberto off. Not unlike some folks were close to writing off ASJ and quite a few other Bucs (to include Evans and Martin in past seasons). I know that the media needs to have things to write and talk about, but do we really want to live in a world where mistakes during training aren’t allowed? It’ll be hard for these young players to grow and mature in their skills if every mistake leads to boos and constant media criticism.

  5. Lunchbox Says:

    @Defense Rules……..Well said.

  6. LifeOfABucFan Says:

    Agree with Defense Rules…

  7. JonBuc Says:

    Having heard this lack of passion rhetoric…in concert with the O-Line injuries ( at guard specifically ) , perceived weakness at safety and lack of depth at wr…my prediction of a win total is now closer to 5 than 8 prior to training camp. I hope I’m wrong.

    Joe’s

    U guys a starting to find your groove as a team – good podcast.

  9. D-Rome Says:

    I don’t recall Joe, Ira, or anyone else commenting with such frequency about the lack of juice or energy at training camp practices in years past. That is concerning to say the least.

    I agree with this wholeheartedly. I look forward to this podcast as much as I look forward to the JBF hour with Steve Duemig.

    Ooooh but say 1 negative thing about GMC and everyone loses their minds.

    JW said something yesterday in his PC about “being nit-picked” by the press. I find it interesting that writers (present company not included) who depend on the Bucs for their livelihood take every opportunity to bash them as often as possible. Looking at you commish.

    I wonder where the writers/media would be if the Bucs cancelled their credentials? Some may be under-qualified to be insurance agents, FedEx drivers or even used car salesman. There’s one that only seems qualified to serve shots in a dive-bar somewhere in pinellas park. Shots and twist-off bottles of bud lite.

  12. Pickgrin Says:

    Well said Defense Rules.

    Excellent discussion guys. Agree these podcasts are getting better, more informative and entertaining. Nice job to all.

    A bit of constructive criticism though, which I guarantee you everyone who sees this will nod their heads to:

    Ira – you’ve got to stop saying the name of the person in front of you so often. I understand you are not doing it consciously in the moment – kind of like when someone speaking publicly says UM or UH way too frequently. It just becomes a bit of a distraction to the listener and takes away from the insightful commentary you are making.

    Keep up the great work guys and let’s hope our Bucs have a 2016 season that we can all be excited about.

    LOL, that’s Ira’s thing! When TKras had his own radio show years ago on another AM station (can’t remember which one) and Ira was a guest he’d have a *ding* sound every time Ira said “TKras” during the interview.

  14. Dave Pear Says:

    @Ira,
    Now that you have become ” unleashed from the corporate shackles of the Tampa Tribune.” It is time to share the “juice” on the Josh Freeman debacle. You said there would come a time where you would reveal the true story and I think it would be very interesting to hear what you know. Thanks Ira.

  15. Dave Pear Says:

    @Pickgrin,
    Don’t try the drinking game listening to one of Ira’s podcasts. The drinking game, for those that don’t know, is where you take a shot of liquor every time a certain word is spoken. Like…”Steve.” There is not enough liquor in a bottle to finish the podcast.

  16. Pickgrin Says:

    Dave Pear – I’m guessing the statute of limitations has not expired on that one yet – so its probably going to be awhile.

    We all pretty much know what happened – at least partially – the part involving the “partying”. I’m pretty convinced personally that mental illness in general and also perhaps anti-depressant type medication played a major role in Freeman’s dramatic fall from relevancy. JMO – perhaps the whole story will come out truthfully one day.

  17. Pickgrin Says:

    and yea Dave – the temptation is definitely there to count the number of times he says “Steve” or “Lee”.

    Perhaps the Joe’s should bring back the “ding” as an assist in breaking their podcast host of his public speaking ‘tick’.

  18. Dave Pear Says:

    @Pickgrin,
    I thought the media was exempt from laws like that. All Ira has to do is say
    “allegedly” in front of every fact and then he’s off the hook.

  19. Dave Pear Says:

    @Pickgrin,
    I took a psych class once that said to ingratiate yourself to someone, you should always use their name. It is human nature to like the sound of your own name.
    I’m sure after 40 years of interviewing people Ira will have a very hard time breaking this old habit.

  20. Pickgrin Says:

    Dave – I didn’t mean “statute of limitations” based on FL law. But based on “Bucs law”. Any local media member who actually “knows” what happened to Freeman and told all at this point would most likely be blacklisted and their career covering the Bucs would be over.

    Similar to why no media member ever reported that JFK was banging Marilyn Monroe and many others when it was happening – even though many knew.

  21. Dave Pear Says:

    @Pickgrin,
    Gotcha. But nobody has a problem when they bash current players like ASJ, Evans, Easy Sweezy, Aguayo etc…etc…
    Doesn’t make sense.

  22. SOEbuc Says:

    if my kicker couldn’t make a 30 yard field goal i wouldn’t be hyped either. Maybe they’re just not trying to waste all that juice before regular season not trying to push it too hard right now. You guys are making these assumptions on preseason games and practices. Why don’t you wait till the regular season to see wheret the energy level is.

  23. Joe Says:

    Ira – you’ve got to stop saying the name of the person in front of you so often.

    No! That’s his trademark!

  24. Cobraboy Says:

    Defenses need to play with passion.

    Offenses need to play with controlled smarts and skill.

    Not much to get worked up over.

  25. Buccfan37 Says:

    I didn’t know booing could take a person down. That should pump him up. Make him kick with loud booing.
