GMC Out, Too

August 20th, 2016
Night off.

Night off.

It appears Doug Martin isn’t the only Bucs stud to get the night off.

Just two days after rolling his right ankle in a controlled scrimmage with the Jags, the Bucs have decided to give defensive tackle Gerald McCoy the a break as well. Per Bucs preseason television voice Chris Myers, GMC won’t play this evening.

This is smart. No question GMC will be ready for the season opener. No need to tear up that ankle or put any additional wear and tear on it for a worthless preseason game.

Just be 100 percent Sept. 11 in Atlanta, Gerald!

Might be good for the DLine if GMC sits out tonight. Opportunity to see what it can do without 93 in there. Can they still bring pressure up the middle without him taking on double teams for instance? Will they be as stout against the run? Big opportunity for DTs like Francis & Kitchen to step up and show what they’ve got.

Sorry, Chris! No one comes out of the game for an injury, apparent or otherwise, until I make my final diagnosis, er report!

  6. Buccfan37 Says:

GMC looks frustrated in that pic.

  7. Jason Says:

Man I cannot stand listening to Chris Myers call our games; hell ANY game. Continually calls out wrong names, gets stats wrong, you name it he screws it up. Ugh.

    Better safe than sorry.

Think about it…why would you risk futher injury. Smart move by coaching staff and management. GMC has had injury issues in past, but probably 20 teams would have him on their team in a heartbeat. He has been pretty well by himself since he was drafted…double teamed alot…let’s see what he does this year with the best supporting group of D-Lineman….we can re-evaluate at end of season

I think this is a great decision.

You can bet though, that if we don’t see a strong dline tonight, fans here will whine about how it will suck all year long.

No need for GMC to play another snap.. Ayres and McDonald too. If any of those guys need to get “ready” via preseason, well, we’ve got big issues
